Sweet and light romance. The H started off as an alpha male type but he became more beta as the story unfolded. Maybe it's just me but I was kinda wishing he would be a little gruff and old school. The urbane, sophisticated and civilized H is sexy but I wanted a little bit more manly roughness. But that's probably because I've been overdosing on the vintage Harlequins over the last couple of weeks. I swear that the current authors of HP will get angry at the mixed messages they keep getting from fans...

This was an enjoyable, fluffy desert billionaire prince romance, with a H who is the strong, dignified type who'll sacrifice his precious bachelorhood just to spare his tragic mother from learning some awful truths about her adulterous late husband. The novel started on a high note and I liked the fact that the storyline was always focused primarily on the 2 MC's interaction with each other. This is the 3rd companion novel in this series; I refer to it in this way since all 3 storylines seem to occur along the same timeline. Karim, the H, is attending the wedding of the MC's from Sheikh's Pregnant Cinderella and he finds himself enthralled with Zufar's beautiful sister, Princess Galila. But there's a huge obstacle preventing him from embracing his lustful feelings for the heroine: his late father had been involved in a secret adulterous affair with Galila's late mother, Namani. The H is the only one who knows that his late dad had committed suicide after Namani had ended the affair; what Karim doesn't know is that Namani had given birth to a baby boy, sired by his own father ! Karim only discovered this at the wedding when a drunken Galila spilled the news to him. This little bit of news shocked his calm and happy world ! One minute he's all mellow and mild and then everything's all F up:

That baby boy is Adir the H of my fav novel in this series, Sheikh's Baby of Revenge. It is also super weird that the MC's of this novel are both half siblings of Adir ! Obviously, there's no incest since there's no blood relation between Karim and Galila but I was still bemused by the irony of it all. Poor Adir was given away at birth to live with the nomadic desert tribes !

This is the heroine, Galila:

This is the H, Karim:

The MC's ended up in a compromising situation when wedding guests found them making out against a wall. Karim ended up asking Galila's brother for her hand in marriage because:

1. He wanted to stop her from running her mouth and telling more people about his late father's affair with her mother. This part is a bit convoluted since he didn't actually tell her that his father had been her mother's secret lover.

2. It was imperative that his own fragile mother be protected from this news. Apparently, his mother was still grieving the loss of the husband whom she'd adored and she would just fall apart if she learned that her late beloved had fathered an illegitimate son with her old friend ! It was also stated that the H's father had been totally besotted and obsessed with Galila's mother. Karim's mother was the type who'd be destroyed emotionally if she ever discovered this, especially since her late husband had "loved" her so much that he'd built her her own private little desert palace. It's unbelievable that a man could love his wife so much and then go on to become obsessed with another one so soon afterwards ! It's enough to give any wife a case of the creeps... I swear that HPlandia is starting to make me inspect my own husband very carefully. Lol.

3. He was filled with extreme lust for Galila and figured that marriage would be the only way to work her out of his system.

Galila was a mite irritating and spoilt at the beginning but I still liked her, because it was obvious that her attention seeking façade was merely a response to the emotional bullying and condemnation she'd received from her sour late mother. The MC's relationship wasn't extremely angst filled because they managed to focus more on their mutual lust. Galila attempted to run away though and once again I'm stumped: why do heroines in HPlandia always choose to run off when they're in the middle of the freaking desert ?

Karim was a very giving hero, though, especially in their first major love scene. He gave himself a hand job while pleasuring Galila to her heart's content. That's rare in HPlandia !

“This might become my obsession,” he said, gathering the long waves and burying his face in it.

Then came the HOT part:

“I’m going to make love to you with my mouth,” he said in a voice that barely penetrated the rush of blood in her ears. “That’s not a pleasure you can give yourself.”

The most enjoyable part of the aftermath was Galila's sexual frustration when Karim decided that they should be celibate during the 2 weeks leading up to their wedding. She was climbing the walls with sexual frustration after that fantastic orgasm he'd given her and was petulant about their lack of subsequent sexual activity:

Oh, he read her agitation like it was a neon sign, she could tell. She blushed even harder.

“Hot and bothered, are you? We agreed to wait until after the wedding ceremony next week.”

“Is that what we agreed? I thought you stated it and I have been given no opportunity to discuss it. What happened to it being my choice what happened between us in bed?”

His eye ticked, then his jaw hardened. “If you can’t wait for our wedding night...” His hands came out of his pockets and he waved them slowly at himself in offering.

“Help yourself.”

These 2 were definitely a sexy couple, but the storytelling did lag a little in parts. Or maybe I'm the one who was hoping for more OTT drama ? The love scenes were well written in a sexy but tasteful manner, with a bit of humour thrown in too, especially when Galila was the one to become the sexual aggressor ( in spite of her virginal status ). The H's primary inner conflict was caused by his refusal to become like his late father. Karim didn't want his feelings for Galila to become a sickness like his father's obsession with Namani. And that's why he tried so hard to keep himself closed off from her, even after their mind blowing, sexually intimate scenes. But he wasn't a hateful or manwhorish type of H either; he didn't look towards other women as an outlet nor did he resent Galila for her late mother's destructive role in his family's tragic past. The most heartbreaking scene in the story was a flashback when his late dad had told him ( and he'd been a mere child then ! ) about the sick obsession with the married Namani:

As he squatted there, from this vantage, he was the height he had been when his father had sat at that desk, rambling about things Karim hadn’t even comprehended.

"I love her. Do you understand? Your mother can never know. She doesn’t know. Doesn’t understand what this kind of love is like. Pray you never experience it, my son. It destroys your soul. And now she says it’s over. How do I go on? I can’t. Do you understand, Karim? I cannot live without her. I’m sorry, but I can’t."

My mind is still reeling from the fact that the late Namani not only cheated with her good friend's husband, bore him a son which she gave away, but then went on to be a malicious evil bitch to her 3 legitimate kids. That woman should've died long before she actually did because she seemed like such a poisonous bitch.

I liked this novel. Maybe I'm giving it a higher rating because it's the only one of HP's new releases that I've enjoyed this month but it was a lovely, romantic story filled with just enough angst to make it interesting but not too much OTT drama to make it unbearable. I wish there had been an epilogue, though. There was mention made about Galila's pregnancy. The final chapter did include a sweet reunion scene with Adir and Amira, the MC's from Sheikh's Baby of Revenge and I was happy to see Adir be embraced and welcomed warmly by his half siblings, Karim and Galila. Adir will always be my fav H in this this entire series because he's the most broody and tortured one of the group. He's also the only self made H who actually had to work to earn his billions.

Safety: No cheating, no OW and no OM.

Note to self: this is the one with the lion bookends.

I blundered into this series and started on the third book. Not a problem, though. I enjoyed it.

Heroine is drunk and needy the night of her brother-the-king’s wedding reception. She has a passionate kiss with the hero, the ruler of a neighboring kingdom. Hero is attracted to the heroine and then is galvanized by her drunken confession. Her mother had an affair with an unknown man and gave birth to a half-brother. Hero knows his father is the unknown man from that affair and he marries the heroine to keep the half-brother a secret.

H/h both want to guard their hearts because they were badly affected by their parent’s affair. The hero witnessed his father’s suicide. The heroine suffered from her mother’s narcissism and constant criticism.

The author manages to make the heroine’s neediness understandable and not too annoying – same with the hero’s coldness. The pacing is good and the characters manage to stay out of their own heads for the most part. There is actual dialogue, descriptions of places, and showing not telling. I know that sounds sarcastic, but I’m genuinely happy when the newer HPs aren’t one long internal monologue.

This story wraps up the story of the hero from book one in the series.

It was nice, heart-warming MOC story. After this months' frustrations, it seemed like a rain on a desert. Of course it is not a good oldie but, at least for a modern book, it has little bit angst. Bound to the Desert King Mini Series were quite satisfactory for me. I look forward to Sheikh's Secret Love-Child

Karim and Galila are total opposites yet both have the skills to work as a team in their assigned roles. The fact they compliment one another as King and Queen is what makes this story believable. At times, they both were downright annoying due to their childhood trauma. It was nice watching them come together for the good of their families and kingdoms. Not sure if Galila still got the short end of things like Karim's poor mother.

Karim needs to go to therapy and Galila as well. Their adulterous parents really did a head job on them both, giving them issues they are working through , such as self-esteem and intimacy. As a couple, I foresee them going to counseling down the road since these issues do not just evaporate. Thankfully, their love for one another is healing their hearts.

My fascination for these books--that featured Karim and Galila, Adir and Amira--is the world of the nomadic Bedouin people. Wonderful research! Which is a quality I have always loved about the HP series. The setting, culture and issues these people struggle with as they live in the 21st Century is detailed and vivid.

Short review.
Enjoyable read.

Great pacing and storyline. Liked both the Hero and Heroine and their interaction. Appreciated the communication between the two and how it was adult in nature.

Nice romance and chemistry between the two. Did find the situation between MC parents a little awkward.

Conflict and resolution was well done.

Loved this story. Liked both the hero and the heroine. Kept me interested (even though it took me a while to finish it due to work commitments) but it was worth it.
Great read. Can't wait to start the next one in this series!

Dani Collins has bought some very strong emotions to life in this story, two people who are so very different one needing love and one is never going to love, Sheikh Karim will do anything to keep a secret that he has kept for many years and that means marrying Princess Galila, when she lets slip something that needs to be kept a secret, this one is a page turner.

Galila is at her brother’s wedding and she has been drinking, life hasn’t been happy for Galila she craves love and after being treated badly buy her mother and ignored by her father and brothers, now that her mother has passed on, she has discovered a family secret and revels this to Sheikh Karim. The next day he is offering to marry her, actually insisting she marry him, and it is the last thing she wants even though she is drawn to him in a very sensual way.

Karim is stunned when the beautiful Galila revels something that he needs to keep a secret and his answer is to marry her, his idea is a marriage of convenience, he must protect his country at all costs, his father taught him that love and passion are dangerous and falling for Galila is the last thing he expected, but it isn’t long before he falls under her spell.

Both Karim and Galila had a lot of scars from their pasts, scars that needed to be healed before either of them could look to the future, and with being such opposites, their desire and sensual pull is hard to understand or ignore for too long. I loved this story it is moving and emotional as they learn from each other and journey to a beautiful HEA, I do highly recommend this one to readers who love a good romance.

A passionate, romantic read with a heroine that is trying to find her own strength and a hero who is used to getting what he wants when he wants makes for a brilliant read.

Dani Collins paints a stunning portrait of romance, seduction and scandal in her latest release. Galila and Karim are polar opposites but when they come together the fire is as real as day. But how far can one go to protect what belongs to him? Karim goes all the way and what he finds in the end is his beautiful, forever bride! I was bowled over by the passionate romance, the intense emotion, the drama, the characters but most of all the writing itself is what creates the magic and tug-o-war of emotions between Karim and Galila. Overall, Sheikh’s Princess of Convenience is an exceptional read from a talented author!

The third book in this series did not disappoint.

Galila and Karim’s book is truly heartbreaking.

Her mother was a selfish, nasty woman. And his father was a sad, weak man. The decisions that their parents made is the cause of the hurt and insecurity that their kids are still experiencing as adults.

Galila’s lack of self esteem was so sad. She felt like she was being overly needy because she wanted the love she has been denied in her life.

Karim’s father’s weakness and his mother’s subsequent emotional breakdown forced his to become a man at the age of 6. It taught him to shut his emotions down and become cold and distant.

Together, they have to work through their childhood experiences if they want to save their marriage.

When her brother agrees to marriage between her and Sheikh Karim to avoid scandal, Galila decides she’s not going to make things easy for the ruthless Sheikh. However, the more time she spends around Karim, the harder she finds it to deny their intense chemistry. Will their marriage of convenience ever be more or will they walk away from each other because Karim doesn’t think he can ever give Galila what she wants – love? Read More

Sheikh Karim is a guest at the wedding of Prince Zufars and is enthralled by the bubbly Princess Galila. Bubbly because she is really quite intoxicated. In their conversation he finds out she has information that is something he would like to remain a secret so he takes her to her room and in the morning to protect her honor offers her marriage. The last thing she wants is to marry Karim but her brother who is ruler has decided it will be. He has it all planned out except he never realized how much Galila hurts inside by the death of her mother. Both have secrets and Galila uncovers the biggest one. Ms Collins always writes wonderful stories and this part of the Bound to the desert King series is another fantastic one. You will love Galila strength despite her weakness and you will enjoy how she makes Karim fall in love despite his determination not to. I would give it more than 5 stars.

Princess Galila knew she should celebrate the wedding of her brother, but still reeling from finding out they had a secret half brother, she ends up coming on to a handsome stranger while tipsy. Little did she know that the man who found her drunk at the reflecting pond, was actually Sheikh Karim of Zyria. A neighboring country.

Karim is more than just shocked when Galila starts to talk about the mysterious half brother her mother had abandoned years before. A half brother that was also his half brother. He knew of the affair between Galila's mother and his own father. But, to protect his mother and all the goodwill of their people, he needs to keep it secret. Even if that means marrying Galila. The woman that looks so much like her mother.

Both have issues. Galila trying to overcome the loss of her mother's love as she grew in to the image of her mother at a younger age. And Karim had to deal with the death of his father at a very young age. And the knowledge he had took his own life because he loved too much, and lost.

Very nice to see them learn to grow and not just accept each other, but to move forward and live and love. Very sweet.

Definite tearjerker.

Great marriage of convenience story. There was a little of everything in the plot which made it a well paced read. The MCs were my favourite of the series so far. Loved the fiesty heroine, Galila! But once again, an abrupt ending. Hopefully the last book will give us a good epi.

I find it so funny that I've spent years thinking these were the most ridiculous books and to be certain, they are in some sense. However, I find that even those the book is short - the prose is good (at least for me, haha).

This was a really nice read - THE ANGST, Y'all. The ANGST! I was getting teary-eyed when it came to Galila's relationship with her mum and the resulting issues she had with Karim. The idea of trying to figure out what is wrong with you when people draw away or exclude you - UGH, I cannot even begin to explain the emotional havoc it caused me. Both main characters were pulling my heartstrings throughout the book.

Don't even get me started about the way her brothers were treated - it was horrible. I don't even have children and the idea of not caring about them and treasuring one over the other freaking breaks my heart. I also didn't understand the dynamic between Galila's mum and Karim's dad - it seemed like they were both madly in love in the beginning, but as the story developed further, the fact that Karim's dad probably was more in love with Galila's mum than she was was alluded to. I'm not sure if that was intentional or if it was deliberate. Obviously, Galila's mum continued to live life after Karim's dad committed suicide and it never talked about whether she mourned or changed after. Galila's dad and Karim's mum honestly just were so sweet and the compassion that welled up in me after reading about the experiences they lived through with their spouses, UGH. It almost made me wish that they would end up together, but alas something's are better left simpler.

Karim's bullheadedness about not wanting to fall in love with Galila was crazy! I am so glad that Collins ended up explaining that his father told him (AT SIX!) that he couldn't live without his mistress and killed himself in front of him. That kind of selfishness is off-the-charts horrible. How could anyone expose a child to that?! It cemented the fact that Karim's dad was just as awful as Galila's mum. It made his stubbornness to not fall into the same trap as his father more understandable...even though the circumstances were completely different and Karim should have gotten therapy because of his experience. The more I read novels with bad parental treatment/relationship abuse, I just sit there saying "Just imagine how much better this man's mental state and life would be if he went to therapy to work out these issues."

This book also makes me want to read about the other characters! I keep reading different books about Sheikhs so I think they're inter-related, but I can't tell.

One thing that I have to state is that I HATE, HATE, HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATE the way that being domineering or arrogant or in some of these circumstances/books, chauvinistic is called "barbarian"....like I'm sorry how is he delving back to "his ancient barbarian senses" when barbarians were meant to describe any people group that pillaged and conquered. It is not exclusive to Middle Eastern people - I freaking deplore the notion that being more conservative minded is considered "barbarian". I'm not even conservative and it bothers me! It really sticks out like a sore thumb in these books because these gentlemen - sheikhs, kings, tribesmen, etc. - are well-bred and are aware of the social customs. They're not Neanderthals. The natural feeling of being protective, virile and possessive does not translate over to being barbarian. I find the association rude and backwards.

Overall, I liked this book - the angst was probably my favorite part and this couple is definitely adorable.

4 1/2 STARS!

Blackmailed ... into love? With the third book in the Bound to the Desert King quartet, Dani Collins brings us Karim and Galila's story. He's been keeping a secret for most of his life and with a few drunken words, she sets his world to spinning with new information that could ruin everything! The characters are both quite feisty, and watching them come together and attempt to fight their attraction at the same time as they are giving in to it is quite a fun endeavor! The story was fast paced and very enjoyable. Looking forward to the final book in the quartet!

Sheikh Karim al Zyria has no idea attending a royal wedding will change his life in the blink of an eye, but when he encounters a tipsy Princess Galila of Khalia, a secret so potent it could bring down his kingdom is exposed! He'll do anything in his power to keep it contained ... even blackmail the Princess into becoming his Queen!

Princess Galila is already at a low point in her life, she doesn't need an egotistical man throwing his weight around and demanding things from her she doesn't want to agree to. He might have a few strings to pull to get what he wants, but she won't remain his prisoner for long!

Almost gave up when I only 5 minutes into it. At first I didn't think it would hold my attention but surprisingly it did. The h was pictured as pampered self centred woman but it was actually just a front and sadly people (even her siblings) misunderstood her. She was very beautiful like her deceased mother. She lacked a loving mother because when she entered her teenage year her mother kinda an asshole towards her. So the h's mother and H's father was having an affair when the H was around 6 years old but h's mother decided to end it and her lover ended up committing suicide and only the H knew about the affair. The h only knew about her mother's ex lover almost at the end of the book. Some misunderstanding drama and the H refused to admit he was in love with heroine and kept pushing her was the conflict in this book. Both h and H seemed real and not 2ds. So I was quite enjoying this book. Expected an epilogue with the baby/kids a couple years later but it was an okay ending, to spark some curiosity towards the next book.

SHEIKH’S PRINCESS OF CONVENIENCE by author Dani Collins is an October 2018 release by Harlequin Presents series.

To hide the secrets about his family, Sheikh Karim decided to keep the bubbly Princess Galila’s mouth shut by marrying her. So he kisses her in front of her family, but is unexpectedly shocked by the scorching chemistry between them.

After marrying her, his plan was to keep away from her so that he doesn’t end up being deeply in love and unable to function like his father. But the best laid plans never work…do they? He couldn’t stay away from her as the passion burned too hot between them. What would happen when he would give in to the fatal attraction he felt towards her?

SHEIKH’S PRINCESS OF CONVENIENCE is a scorching hot and sensual romance. Author Dani Collins brought this story to life on the pages where a reader would sympathize with Karim and Galila yet root for them too.

Highly recommended for all readers of romance.

Such a thrilling adventure of a story; from family secrets to planned escapes to desert adventures, Karem and Galila is just wonderful!

I really loved how Karem and Galila meet and how eveything evolves, page turning plot. I loved the attempted escape and the saving and Dani Collin's dramatic way of growing the characters and the history behind them and the two characters who are strong in their own way but together can be so much more.

The third book in the Bound to the Desert King series delivers everything I love about Sheikh stories and with the sensational dramatic and emotional writing Dani Collins always delives makes for a fave story. Loved it!

One of the Bound to the Desert King series. It's hard to keep track of who the Desert Kings are (names) and how they're related.

Understandable, relate-able female. The hero didn't appeal to me, not sure why. The author explained why he was remote with the heroine, and tended to run hot and cold but it became annoying how quickly he cycled between the two. Never warmed up to him.

Worth reading as part of the series with a twist inserted in the beginning that only means anything if you've read the rest of the books in the series.

Not great, not really worth owning unless you're collecting the series.

"Sheikh's Princess of Convenience (Bound to the Desert King #3)" by Dani Collins was a good, quick read. It made me want to reach through the book and slap Sheikh Karim a few times for the way he treated Princess Galila when they met. Basically, because of a minor dalliance at a wedding he forces her into a marriage deal. Galila finds herself falling for Karim but both have issues they need to deal with from their past. It's a classic Harlequin with a little more HOT scenes involved.

I did not like the heroine. She drank to escape reality. She needed therapy not a romance. On page23 I began to intensely dislike the heroine because in the prior pages she tries to get the hero to abuse alcohol like she does.

Yes, the storytelling was done well unfortunately I wasn't willing to see if this heroine was tamed by the hero.

This is book 3 in the series and while I am not a big fan of Sheikh stories (something so 80s about it all), this one was pretty cute and was easily the best of the four books in the series. I liked the characters. I liked the writing. A sweet little HAE to get through a wet winter's day :-)
