description~WRITING - PLOT - PACE~
NO...NO you did NOT just leave me hanging like that?? WTF?? NO!! I'm suddenly feeling the need to go all MISERY on this author's a$$. (lol) I can't...I just can't. Ugh...SERIOUSLY??!! OK, I am going to try to rein in my need to hunt Miz Drake down and tie her to a bed until she hands over the next book and get on with my review. Needless to say I LOVED this book just as much as I did book one. WOWZA...was this an amazing read. The writing was FAN-F-CKING-TASTIC. The pace was perfect. The plot was super engaging. There are twist and turns galore. There is torture and blood. There is love and betrayal. There is heartbreak and hope. All wrapped up in another frigging cliffhanger. WHY Miz Drake...W-H-Y you do me like that??

~HERO~
TRIGGER...Lord did I love this man. It helps that all I can picture while reading about him is Josh Mario John (rawr). But man did he drive me NUTS in this one. I kept yelling at my tablet "use your words, big guy." It was clear to everyone BUT him that he loved Tess. I also loved the slightly softer side of him that we would get peeks of now and then. But make NO mistake Trigger remains a majorly f-cked up character.  I cannot WAIT to see him hand down retribution to those that have betrayed him in book three.

~HEROINE~
TESS...Tess is one of the best heroines I have ever had the pleasure to read. She is strong. She is broken. She is feisty. She has a huge heart. We get more insight into her background in this one and it is completely heartbreaking. Despite that background, she took a chance on Trigger. I loved that she handed down some retribution of her own. I hope she gets a chance to hand down even more in the next book. I LOVED her and I can't wait to see where the author is going to take her character next.

description

~SECONDARY CHARACTERS~
Both books one and two have been pretty rich in secondary characters. This is one of those series where there is A LOT going on outside of the main characters.  I love all the guys in the MC. I love Fin. I love Brick. I LOATHED Tess's mother and Clark. There are a lot of side characters that have various levels of importance. I'm hoping we will see some of them get stories of their own. I also hope we will see some of them get what is coming to them. All of them (good or bad) added a lot of depth to the story.

~HEAT LEVEL~
Medium. The sex scenes in this one were suitably hot. There wasn't a ton of them but the frequency felt organic to the story.

~ANGST LEVEL~
High. This is a pretty angsty series so far. But I wouldn't say that angst came from the main couple or their relationship. There wasn't much push or pull between them. It took a while for feelings to be accepted. One of them coming to grips with it earlier than the other. That caused a bit of angst. Most of the angst comes from the baddies and what they want to do. There was a smidge of OW drama. I was happy to see Trigger kept it in his pants during their separation (although admits he did kiss OW). And I was confused by a photo that the heroine sees of him apparently getting a BJ just before he decides to come and bring her back. I am guessing it wasn't what it appeared to be unless he subscribes to the notion that BJ's don't equal sex since he told her that he hadn't slept with anyone when they were apart (lol). Tess never brings it up so I guess we will never know. There is also some OM drama. Tess is pretty much forced to kiss OM and they touch her a bit, but no sex.

~IN THE END~
I am LOVING this series so far. The writing is fantastic. The plot is well developed and engaging. The characters are intriguing and likable. I am hooked and I really hope we don't have to wait another year to get book three. Therefore yours truly is going to give this one two HUGE thumbs up. P.S. Better keep that mace handy Miz Drake because I am coming for you Kathy Bates style! <-- I'm just kidding. I am totally sane...honestly (lol).description

This part of the story was so much better than the first. It was much more cohesive and lot easier to follow. I finally didn’t feel like I walked into the middle of the plot. I got to see many different sides of the characters I have come to care about and I’m so excited for the next installment to see just where the author is going to take us next.

Tess has been taking a dip back into her past and we finally get the story behind what happened to her. The truth behind her pain was quite devastating and gave me a clearer picture of her character. I still didn’t like her because a lot of what she did didn’t make any sense, but I definitely sympathized. I’m hoping my love for her will find a grip in the next book. It just bothered me that I had to keep reminding myself that she was a woman in her 30s, because she didn’t act like one. The ridiculousness between her and Clark was beyond my limited comprehension. She kept giving him access because…??? She wasn’t a child, vulnerable to an older man. So why was she still so lost, confused, and irrational?

So I’m still in love with Trigger. His heart grew three sizes during this book. Loved this! His demons were still haunting him and Tess seemed to be the only one to calm the Reaper, but he kept getting in his own way when it came to her and the way he cared about her. He was an expert at self-sabotage. His father was still haunting the crew and I’m eager to find out how Trigger will finally really exterminate this man. End him so there is no doubt he’ll never come back and cause havoc in his life again. I truly believe it’s a matter of when, not if, and I can’t freaking wait!!

So "Demons" starts where "Trigger" left us and Tess is back living at her mother's establishment to find answers after what she uncovered before she ran out on The MC and Trigger.
Though who can blame the girl for running.
Even thinking that Trigger no longer wants her she is in protection mode, wanting to shield her new adopted family from harm.
But it's not long that before Trigger is hot on her heels to drag her back home where she belongs.

 photo original_zps7ck9l0s4.gif

So this book was just so intense, there's a hell of a lot more action going on here than the last one.
And Tess herself my god I think someone may be rubbing off on her.
Here she Flips her switch along with Trigger.
And damn boy she is so hot with it too.

 photo MeanBiodegradableChafer-max-1mb_zpscb7rlrup.gif

So as I said a lot going on here, we get to return to play house with all our favourite characters and we also get to discover the identity of the mole.
And OMG didn't see that one coming at all.

giphy (2).gif

I really don't want to say too much and spoil this for others, let us just say the heat definitely intensifies for this instalment.
This is so much more and if you thought book one was good this, in my opinion, is better if that's even possible.
So Trigger and Tess have those pesky feelings to understand and overcome here and neither of them are great when it comes to expressing themselves.
We get to experience the minefield of there repressed emotions here.
especially Triggers who is in major denial.
And then there's his Dad who is determined to topple Trigger from grace.
So as you probably guessed this ends on another cliffy.

 photo Nononono_zpskqxkoyne.gif

So here I am again I need that next book like NOW!!!
Its gonna kill me to wait.
Feels like DE JA VU.
This is a fabulous read that I highly recommend just be aware it doesn't pull its punches.
I was provided with a review copy of "Demons (Devil's Reach Book 2) " By the author of which I have reviewed voluntary.

Drama, drama, drama. I know we all tend to be more judgmental on our FMC than the MMC, but this woman was ridiculous. How is she in her 30s and still acting like this? I really don’t understand why she spent so much time at the mansion, what was she waiting for? She was just dancing away the time for weeks, without digging for answers?

Despite my complaints, this second book was much better than the first. Trigger had excellent character growth, his arc was amazing.

This is such a dark story. You really have to be in the mood for the violence, OTT drama, and overall motorcycle club fuckery.

Like the previous one this is a brutal and gripping read. I enjoyed this more although I was very anxious while reading particularly towards the end.

We discover the life Tess lived. How she’d been betrayed by everyone who should have cared for her. It’s hard to imagine the torment she’s gone through.

I adore Trigger and the guys. But this was an worrying read it was obvious Trigger was outclassed and about to be outplayed. It made for difficult (yet addictive) reading.

It’s straight onto the last book for me.

3 Hmm… Stars

Demons is the second book of the Devil’s Reach series. You have to read them in order.

I was kind of confused with this one only because there was a HUGE warning that the first book ends with a cliffy. I usually don’t care to know about that nor do I care for cliffys. I take them or leave them, it doesn’t bother me.

What I don’t care for is that the first book has all these HUGE warnings and the second book didn’t. This is a serial book. Had I known that I would have gone into Demons with a little different mind-set.

The stuff I had issues with:

The pacing. I had no idea this would be a serial so I was confused with the pacing. I felt like Tess and Trigger were taking forever to get over the issues. I couldn’t understand the tension and angst. As much as I appreciated the angst in the first book I didn’t care for it for the second one.

The found the book a little slow. A little repetitive and the same old issues from the first book still brought up. A lot of issues were not resolved and it left me disappointed.

It took a long time for Tess and Trigger to interact together. As you know they separated from the last book and to read up to the before there was interaction made me question if this was a “filler” book. I hated all the “we can’t talk now” “let’s talk later”. I was just screaming for some solution.

Tess’ relationship with Clark was exhausting. I couldn’t understand her mind-set and I was frankly tired of it. She had one mission to do while she was there and she never interacted with Clark to get the solution. She kept on pushing him away. When she wasted I was frustrated with the book. It was too slow.

The tension between Tess and Trigger was too much. The love and hate and the push and pull gave me whip-lash. I was just so over it. It took

And the ending. Here are my thoughts.

Like I said. I was disappointed with this one. I was looking forward to Tess and Trigger working together and kind of like them verse the world. I didn’t like how long it took for someone to communicate simple things. I felt like this should have been a two-part series and the next book be about someone else. Or maybe a spin-off with someone else in another MC.

The one thing I do like about this author is the dialogue. It’s a heavily dialogued based book and light on the inner monologue which is so rare to find and that is why I stick with this one. I’ll check out the other books and see if the angst doesn’t kill me.

**Side note, I reread the summary and the cliffy was warned! the only difference was, it was warned at the top of the summary for the first book and it was warned at the bottom of the summary for the second book. That is why I didn't see it.

Ahhhhh!!!!! Wow! Book two is so good! I have a girl crush on Tess and Minnie. Lol! But Trigger is hotness on a stick. I need book three!! The suspense is going to kill me. So much detail in this story. I was swimming in the story and love every word. I am feeling these characters in my heart. I need to crawl in the Authors head and watch her work her magic. Absolutely love this trilogy.

Demons is the second book in the Devil’s Reach series, and boy do I need book three. Now. Like, right this second now. Why isn’t it released yet? Why do I start books before the series is finished? Someone keep me updated on the progress of book three. You can clearly see how badly I need book three.

When I finished Trigger, the first book in the series, I was overly eager to dive into this second book. Trigger is, without a doubt, one of the best motorcycle club romances I have ever read – hence why I was more than happy to dive straight into book two. Although I didn’t enjoy book two quite as much as I enjoyed book one, it was another wonderful read – if the Devil’s Reach series continues along this path, it’s possible I may crown it my favourite series in the genre.

Like the first book, this has all the blood, gore, and grit you come to expect from motorcycle clubs, along with the deep connection of the brotherhood and the family vibes it creates. If you haven’t read the first book go back and do so now, as much of the emotional connection occurs within the first book, with this second book building upon all that came to play in the first book.

The reason I said I enjoyed the first book more links in with the aforementioned gritty elements prevalent within this series. We still have all the nasty that we were introduced to in the first book, but I had been expecting something darker in regards to the secrets that came out in this one. There was plenty to find out, but some of the details were much tamer than book one had me believing they would be. Things certainly continued to grow darker the deeper into this one I got, but it was never quite the darkness I had anticipated.

Nevertheless, the details that did come to light in relation to some of the big questions of book one were wonderful. We get to find out so much in this one, so many of the details coming together. There is plenty still up in the air, many things we need book three to answer, but the answers we’ve been given thus far were amazing. So many of my question marks have been answered, and I really enjoyed watching the way everything came together.

I also feel as though there may be a link to some of the author’s other work in this one. I’m not sure, but it felt like I was missing some details when new characters were introduced. If someone can let me know what I need to read to fill in these blanks, I’ll be super grateful. I plan to read more of the author’s work anyway, but a direction to head in would be great.

Speaking of planning to read more of the author’s work, I’ll going to circle back around to how I started this review. I need book three, and I need it now. This one ends on a serious cliff-hanger and waiting for book three is going to be painful.

There is no other way to say it – I’m obsessed with this series.

Demons is book 2 in the Devil's Reach series and continues the story of Trigger and Tess. I loved it from beginning to end. So much happens during this book that had me on the edge of my seat but I loved Trigger and Tess's progression. Tess is definitely the kind of woman Trigger needs by his side and she showed such ruthlessness that fit perfectly. Trigger still has a mole and now his enemy's know Tess isn't just a warm body, she means the world to him. The ending killed me and I'm so happy I only have 3 days to wait for book 3.

Another great read in this ongoing series it was totally awesome !

Some of our new cast:

Cooper,Rail,Brick,Gus,Tess aka Tiger,Peggy,Minnie,Ty,Jace,Morgan,
Cray,Loose,Ray,Clark,Mike,Allen,Zay,
Savi,Langley,Mud,Fin,Ven,TiagoTrigger,
Big Joe

Let's start off by saying this is a new author for me and I loved this story from cover to cover but, "I absolutely HATE reading books with cliffhangers !"

I loved this new MC romance from cover to cover as the story had wonderful characters all very complicated in their own right.Once I started reading the story I was fully enmeshed in it from the very beginning to the very end and never put it down.

The current story picked up right where the last story ended and it got even more intense and in depth about Trigger's and Tess's past's and yet more intriguing then ever .We loved it!

OMG! So much went on in this current story and Tess and Trigger got more in touch with their emotions and feelings for each other.More and more intrigue mystery, betrayals and more secrets coming to life and exacting revenge to the wrong dealt to one who didn't suffer nearly enough.

I have say that this story was very intense, nail bitting, and on the seat of your pant's kind of story. My heart pounded the entire time reading all the while waiting for the ball to drop. The anticipation at waiting to get answers to questions like who is the mole? What is Trigger's dad up to ?What is Allen's end game?Where does Tess fit in?So on and so forth....

Omg ! Did we get some answers and then some.I think my heart stopped beating for a minute and my mouth hung open for sometime.I can say that I was indeed shocked but, more floored then anything else."I was totally taken my surprise?" We got a whole lot more then we bargained for and a whole lot more of unanswered questions yet again. An Awesome ending that left you wanting more.A intense read that was filled with one betrayal after another. My first thought was will Tess ever catch a break at all once in her life as she has grasped some good in her life for the first time an then again it's snatched away.Life is so unfair....

I always pick a favorite character in the story to rave about and my choice this time around is going to be Tess.OMG! I loved her what a feisty fireball she was with a huge sense of humor, she was full of spunk, she was sexy, mouthy, had a backbone made of steel, and pure enjoyment to read about.Although Tess is all those things she is haunted by her past as well as being heartbroken and dead inside (a heart of Ice) her beliefs not mine I only saw a survivor and a strong and amazing women to be admired.I loved learning about what brought Tess to the Devil Reach MC Clubhouse.Tess's story was heart wrenching and made me want to cry when I heard it .My heart broke for her and everything she had to go through and deal in her very short life so far.I don't know how she survived it all really.Perhaps Brick helped with that he was Tess's bleak life and I am so glad that she found some kind of solace with her among her chaotic loveless life.A 18 year friendship that lasted the test of time and circumstances.I love their friendship as they were like brother and sister but, so much more.

Favorite Scene # 1

The birthday present Trigger gives to Tess.I have to say this present says "I love you!" whether Trigger acknowledged his heart or not.I loved how he making a dream come true for Tess.

Favorite Scene #2

Tess and Fins sleepover.
"A heart warming moment for me!"

Favorite Scene #3

Girls night out and the prank they played on Rail.
"OMG ! I laughed so hard and I loved it.

Favorite scene #4

Tess and Trigger's talk before the fight started.
"A heart melting moment for me!"

Trigger OMG! I man with layers! I have to say this man frightened even me,I found him to be tall, dark, handsome, dangerous, protective, overbearing, also a killer, and also love-able at the same time."Does that make sense?"You have to get to know the broken man first but, once you see how he is with his nephew Fin and Tess you will see for yourself. There is a loving and caring man below the surface even though he thinks he is dead inside but, we see rare glimpses of the heart beating within his chest.Trigger is a character you love to hate but, he makes it impossible not to love this broken man.Circumstances made the Trigger the man we have grown to love but, at the same time I wished he would find just a sliver of happiness for just once in is horrible life."When I say horrible it's beyond anything you can imagine."I believe Tess to be his savior and he hers. Two broken souls find solace in one another. As the pages turned and the story unfolded it seemed that Tess and Trigger became lighter and less tense and perhaps were finally grasping a bit of happiness that each haven't felt in a very long time."I loved seeing how they were with one another."Awe.......I thought these two people were meant for one another perhaps, not to heal bought to offer a peace of solace for one another.

Trigger and Tess's chemistry was of the charts.Holy fanning! Hot Hot hotter ! Their sexual encounters were hot as hell!
"I want some of that bad boy myself."
Holy smokes! Flip your switch for me Trigger! LOL

I love when you can connect with the characters that you read about and I did just that.I love when this happens because I know I am going to love the story I am about to read.

Overall we love love loved it and everything about the story.

We loved the characters both light and dark, the drama, the mystery, suspense, danger, betrayals and of course the romance.
The story broke my heart time and time again.I loved the climatic ending even though "I hate cliffhangers!"I could not wait to dive into book but, we have to wait.

Personal note: Ms Drake has gained a new fan of her works.

When is the next release?
I can't wait !

Holy hell, Jodi never ceases to amaze me. Her books trap you and pull you into the pages. I have loved every book that I've read by her, and I hope to be enjoying them for years to come. I'm finding it hard to get a great MC book lately, but I can always count on Jodi to ho above and beyond no matter what she writes.

This book sucks you into a vortex that's never ending. You will be glued to your kindle until you reach the dreaded words “the end". I will be on pins and needles waiting for book 3. Trigger just gets better and better. You never know he's going to do, so he keeps you on your toes! Phenomenal job once again!

This book picks up right where the first one left off. Trigger is trying to get revenge on the rival gangs who betrayed him, all the while fighting his desire to search for Tess and bring her back to him. Their love is quite a slow burn, and I love how gradually they’re discovering just how deep their feelings for each other are.
This book has even more villains than the previous one. In this second instalment in the series, we’re treated to the occasional third character’s point of view. I won’t say whose until my review of the third book--it’s a spoiler-- but it really adds to the suspense and gives us a little peek into one of the villain’s heads. And boy, is he deranged!
This book has just as much--if not more--suspense than the previous book. There are a few twists in the plot that downright shocked me. There are some gory bits--as with any good MC--that make this book not for the faint of heart.
Again, this book ends on a cliffhanger, so on to the next book!

“Demons” by J.L. Drake is the 2nd book in The Devil's Reach series. This story picks up right where book 1 left off. You need to read book 1 “Trigger” to understand what is going on in book 2.
This book picks up with Tess returning 'home' – a place that holds terrible, painful memories for her. Tess never planned to return back to this place yet Tess goes in order to find out what Clark has on Trigger and her new family. I am going to say it- Tess’s mom is a total witch. She is so nasty and just a waste of space. She deserves whatever comes her way for how she treated Tess. This book really shows us more of Tess and what she lived thru in the past. Not to say we didn’t get MC yumminess and Trigger but it was like we got to see how Tess was shaped. She had a lot of heartbreak and pain in her past. I felt so bad for Trigger because he wanted to kill all the people responsible for her pain yet he was there for her and was there for her when she needed him. Tess really loved her MC family – The Devil’s Reach and she would do anything for them, including go back to her past to get what is needed to keep them all safe, including Trigger. She would die for him. Tess was proud and strong in the face of danger. Another thing that made this wonderful was how Trigger and Tess’s relationship grew and became stronger. Not to say that they didn’t have bumps in the road but they grew closer and stronger together. They faced things and came to realize things together which made them grow closer and stronger. OMG I loved their bond even though I need Trigger to say three special words to Tess. It was so close yet so far. Trigger is feeling those special feelings but he won’t say those words. Tess has told him of her deep feelings for him and yet that didn’t seem to do the trick. Will that be the kiss of death for them? There is a lot of darkness in this read, a lot of moments that will have you exclaiming “O-M-G”. Both main characters are broken souls yet together they are mending and melding together. There are many twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat; especially the last couple chapters of the book. It sets the book up for an epic cliffhanger that had me scream out in surprise and shock. This book will give you betrayal, heartbreak, pain, anger, despair, action, tons of blood, steamy passion, family and so much more. I could go on but you need to read this book and fall in love with the characters like I have. I am now suffering from book hangover and need book 3 badly.

My Rating: 4.9 stars *****

Sweet baby Jesus! Can this woman do no wrong. Her books get better and better with each new release. DEMONS is no different. Book #2 in the Devil's Reach series and man o' man what a read.

Tess is back "home" with an evil mother, a sick stepfather/ex whatever you want to call him. Trigger is pissed, lost and angry wanting to know where she is and how to get to her?

This book is twist after twist. Trigger loves Tess but only he doesn't know that he does. She is the good, while the rest of his life is the evil and man can he get his evil on!!!! Tess loves Trigger but to protect him and her new friends she gives herself up to her past. She is a true heroine type character, one of my pet peeves is weak heroines that we are told are strong women, but we read and their actions and character are not strong. Tess....she is bad ass! Strong, broken, giving, loving.

Author JL Drake may be a Demon with the ending she gives us in each book. This one made me moan and groan. I was thinking WTF no no no finish. Don't leave me this way!!!!!

When is book #3 coming out cause I need it yesterday!!!!

This is he second release on this series with Trigger and Tess. Please be aware it may cause your own triggers due to the dark content.
We start back up where we left off with Trigger and Tess - things are being pushed to the limit in this release. Trigger wants Tess safe so she has got to go and Tess wants the MC life. Her mom is something else - let’s just leave that there.
The dark inside both of these characters is immense. I thought maybe this release we would get square and get some satisfaction but know you are going to be left hanging again.
The cover is really brilliant the characters and story line is edgy for sure. Just know picking this one up means another waiting game. There is zero satisfaction in this book so if you can’t handle the wait - well too bad. I’m not crazy over this release because i wanted answers but I’ll keep on keeping in with this series because it’s a need to know situation. It’s a crazy ride ...
Thank you for the ARC - review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets

This was such a good book! Very well written, I dived wright into the story. The problem is I want more! This series is pure addiction.

The story continues with Tess, a feisty 30’s old who is currently living at her mom’s because she needs time to think. She has run out on Trigger after the incident in the church. The problem is, no one expected her to go at her mother’s establishment, where painful memories surround her.

Trigger changed a lot in this one. The problem is, his demons are still haunting him and Tess. Except all the demons and hunting issues, Trigger is learning how to communicate with Tess. They are both broken, and they bring the bad and the good in one another. They are alive when they are together.

I am in love with this series, but seriously what just happened? I am still reeling from everything I just finished reading. This story was a whirlwind of twists I was not expecting. I highly recommend it!

This is the second book in the series and I am even more attached to this MC and the characters than I was in book one. No mistake here. This is a seriously f 'd up bunch of people. I mean, what in the ever living heck did I just read? Leave your squeemish stomach at the door. Tess and Trigger are perfect for each other if they can just get past the horrors that are their lives.

Once again, this is a serial. Things are not wrapped up nice and neat by the end. Don't go into it thinking it will be and you will enjoy the ride that much more. Great story telling. Still so many twists and back stories unfolding. I'm not sure I can wait for the next book. Please hurry!

True MC grit in this one. Take no prisoners. Tell no tales. Yeah. It's sticking with me this time.

Tess and Trigger’s story isn’t over yet.

Book two leaves off on Tess back into her mother and Clark’s clutches. We dive more into the dynamic between these three characters and why Tess is how she is.
Clark is her child predator. Her master manipulator. And he’s back in his house.

Trigger is dealing with his father rising back from the dead and with that, dealing with a mole in the club.

Both their worlds are clashing and colliding together.
No one is safe. It’s a bloody and violent life.

Mix in love and feeling between Tess and Trigger, two people who once swore off feelings and we have ourselves another 5 star book.
It’s a heavy MC book full of the nitty gritty details of the club life.
I’m completely invested in this series and holy cliffhanger! Tess is gone and Trigger realizes who the mole is…

Demons by J.L. Drake is the Second book in The Devil's Reach series. This continues the story of Trigger and Tess. To fully enjoy their story you should read the previous book "Trigger".
This books picks up with Tess returning 'home' a place she never thought she would go back to. But Tess is wanting to know what Clark has on Trigger and her new family.
Trigger who can't seem to let Tess go is hot on her trail.
This book deal with more of their emotions and past issues along with more dark moments.
This book does end to set you up for the next installment in this series....which I can't wait to have!

A little bit too much drama in this book, but that means pace and angst were present, so I finished book quickly.
I was annoyed by things ALMOST ALWAYS happen to Tess, her past was implied as living in great cruelty, but later you see everything was really exaggerated. Big words little deeds. Just like author didn't want to put huge black spot on heroine. Some things simply didn't add up.
I still love chemistry between Tess and Trigger (even though their dinamic was pretty intense), so I will continue with third book.

What is there to say about this book? I thought I was prepared for the second part to Trigger and Tess' story but I was not. I laughed, cried, screamed, and fell in love all over again with this book. If you have not read J.L Drakes Trigger please do then immediately pick up Demons, it is amazing. I can not to see what this talented author has in store for us in the third book.
