The Murrells Inlet Miracles 1: SanctuaryBook 2: RestorationBook 3: CrescendoBook 4: Capsized˃˃˃ Heartwarming, life-changing Christian fictionFrom the award-winning author of the beloved Pawleys Island Paradise series of inspirational romance.
Beachy, heartwarming and inspirational, Laurie Larsen's love stories contain a bit of faith in addition to the Happily Ever After. Her beloved Pawleys Island Paradise series gained fans, not only because of the stories and unforgettable characters, but the "arrogantly shabby" real-life island setting.
A multi-award winning author, she's won the EPIC Award for Best Spiritual Romance, the Illumination Book Award for Inspirational Romance Fiction and the eLit Award for Religious Fiction.
Laurie began her writing career back when she was juggling a challenging day job in Information Technology Management. Bewildered as to how an English major who loved to read discovered herself in a highly technical career path, writing became her creative release. Because "all good things come to those that wait," her reward finally arrived: retiring from the day job, moving to the beautiful South Carolina Lowcountry and writing novels full-time; at least, in between lathering on the sunscreen, walking the beach, and entertaining her feisty rescue pup, Weezer.

Restoration is a charming story that left me smiling. I loved the characters. Their strength and faith was touching. Carly and Ryan faced difficult choices. They want what's best for their little girl, but can Ryan convince Carly that he's matured. While Nora and Shaw are moving on from their rocky start and looking forward to a future filled with love and happiness. I wanted their dreams to come true. Laurie Larsen has a wonderful writing style. Her love stories tell of life's challenges and the power of prayers. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. I received a copy of this book which I voluntarily read and reviewed. My comments are my honest opinion.
An unplanned teenage pregnancy resulting in baby Grace derailed Carly's life, but Ryan's life continued as planned, sending him off to college 200 miles away and leaving Carly to pick up the pieces, assisted by Ryan's parents. Two years of desertion finally end with Ryan acknowledging his error and coming back to do his best to make amends. But Carly, deserted once before, finds it hard to know whether he is trustworthy - he ran once before when things got hard, will he do the same thing again? She can't let him hurt Grace like that, to say nothing of herself. Initially rejected, Ryan realises quickly that he will only be able to win Carly back through their daughter, but will he be so successful in hiding his feelings for Carly that she thinks he no longer cares for her? And when Ryan's parents object strenuously to his change of perspective, will the pair be able to overcome their disapproval and become a family?
I really enjoyed the main story of Ryan and Carly, feeling that there were some valuable lessons and ideas amid a clean, well-written story, but I was somewhat confused by the intrusion of another storyline that was completely unconnected. Having read the first book in the series, I was glad to meet Nora and Shaw again and hear more of their story, but I kept waiting for the two storylines to meet - and they basically didn't (one meeting between Carly and Nora doesn't count)! This may be gearing up for a third book in the series, I don't know, but I found it quite offputting. That aside, if you treat this as one story with occasional tidbits of another book scattered throughout, it's a good book. I look forward to a possible third book that may explain the way this one was handled. *** Note that I believe that the two storylines have been tied together a bit better since the version I read, so some of these comments may no longer apply. ***
Note that though this is book 2 of a series and two of the characters do follow on from book 1, it is not necessary to read book 1 to understand book 2 (though I enjoyed both and would recommend reading both, preferably in order).
I was thrilled to receive a free copy of the book from the author in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to write a positive review and this is my considered opinion of the book.
Oh, wow! This was such a great book!!! Ryan and Carly fall in love as teenagers and are then conspired against by his parents, mainly his mother. Now, Ryan has come to his senses and knows he needs to make things right with Carly and get to know his daughter, Grace, and be the man they both need him to be. When he finally stands up to his mom, will it help him and Carly or tear them apart again? It was also great to have the side benefit of Nora and Shaw in the book. I'll admit, I haven't read the first one YET, but I really don't feel like I've missed too much. Looking forward to the next one!
I received a complimentary copy of this book, was not required to leave a review, and the opinion expressed is my own.
I loved this book!!! I couldn’t put it down, or I didn’t want to anyways! It was so nice to revisit with Nora and Shaw while learning more about Carly and Ryan. I just love how the characters come alive in Laurie’s books! Plus, they remind me of the beach, and who doesn’t love the beach?! A must read for all Christian Fiction lovers!
This is a book about second chances,God's forgiveness and his redeeming grace. I love the two of Love stories, vivid characters and the setting. The book is recommended for those who love Christian.
Young love can be a sweet thing and yes they do sometimes last forever. When messes are made it takes a special someone to step up and say they were wrong and that's just what Ryan did. This story is their story. What happens when mistakes made cause a lifetime of results. Lives will change and love through forgiveness will be rekindled by these two and found for Ryan's parents. I love this authors style and the way she brings the message without preaching. While Cary is living and growing as a parent and taking her role and life goals seriously, she now has some new life lessons to excel at. The use of the word and the message that is delivered is well and tastefully done. Great read. In my review of the first book I stated these were standalone reads however the story from Sanctuary is intertwined in this book so it would be better if you read that one first.
Carly got pregnant with Grace in high school and Ryan tried to deny his feelings for her and that he even had a daughter by running away to college and not looking back. He left his parents to take care of his financial and emotional responsibilities for Grace. Until he realizes that he still loves Carly and he loves Grace too and wants to be her father. I don't blame Carly for not wanting to accept Ryan back. Now that she has a professional job and is going to college, she has made something of her life without him. But to find her true happiness she has to forgive and trust that he wants to stay and be a family. Nice story about growing up, accepting responsibility, and discovering what's really important in life.
Restoration is another heartwarming Christian story from Laurie Larsen. I loved her Pawleys Island stories and the Murrells Inlet are just as wonderful. I just put everything aside to sit and read this book. Ryan would have to work very hard to convince Carly that he wanted to be a father; that he was back to stay, that he was done doing as his parents decreed. Will he succeed? Wonderful, flawed, realistic characters in a story that will keep your interest. I highly recommend this book.
The main characters are younger than normal, however don’t let that put you off. This is a mature well written novel which explores the restoration of love into a relationship which appears to have been completely broken. And not just by the couple, parents are also involved and the writer deals well with the different relationships within the book. Another winner in this series and though you don’t have to have read the first, why deny yourself?!
A lovely story about two couples who get a second chance at love after making mistakes previously. I love how the author wove the story together of forgiveness and restoration of things lost. I really enjoyed the story and recommend it. I received a free copy of this book from the author and voluntarily reviewed it. All the thoughts expressed are mine and not that of the author.
Thought I would read this while I had Kindle Unlimited. Since I have Book 3 in the series, it made sense to read this one first. It's definitely not edge-of-your-seat drama. I liked the way that God and prayer were included in the story, and it was an ok read.
