Carlina and Stefano's marriage party is brought to an abrupt end when the glamorous girlfriend of Enzo, Carlina's brother, is shot. Dorotea left her fortune and the famous Milanese Camicie di Silva, a luxurious company for men's shirts, to Enzo, so everything points to him as the culprit. Stefano can't take the case because he's now officially related, but that doesn't stop the Mantonis. Without further ado, Enzo engages Carlina and Stefano as business consultants. To find the real murderer, they have to dive deep into the corporate tangles of the fashion industry in Milan where nothing is as it seems …
Elegant Death is the seventh in the cozy mystery series Temptation in Florence.
Book 1: Delayed Death Book 2: Charmer's Death Book 3: Banker's Death Book 4: Expected Death Book 5: Seaside Death Book 6: Classic Death Book 7: Elegant Death
I love books with touches of humor and mischief. It doesn't matter if they're romances or mysteries or biographies - as long as they make me chuckle, count me in.
Here's my official author bio:
Beate Boeker is a USA Today bestselling author with a passion for books that brim over with mischief & humor.
Several of her novels were shortlisted for the Golden Quill Contest, the National Readers' Choice Award, the 'Best Indie Books' contest, and the RONE Award.
By day, Beate is a marketing consultant with a degree in International Business Administration. Widely traveled, she speaks German, English, French, and Italian and lives in the North of Germany together with her husband and daughter.
While 'Boeker' means 'books' in a German dialect, her first name Beate can be translated as ‘Happy’ . . . and with a name that reads ‘Happy Books’, what else can she do but write novels with happy endings?
A new Temptation in Florence book is a cause for celebration. Love Carolina and the Mantoni family! I've read each of the books as they've come out, so these people are old friends to me. Elegant Death is extra special - Carlina and Stefano are finally getting married. Having been part of their romance from the beginning, I can't wait for the wedding. Who doesn't love a wedding? I know, though, there will be complications to this one. Despite Carolina's best efforts, her family will be hilariously involved. And, of course, there will be murder. Beate Boeker has a keen eye for the frailty of human beings. She shows them at their best and worst and does it with humor and generosity. In this book, she and Stefano are forced to spend part of their honeymoon proving her brother did not murder his glamorous fiancee - with plenty of help from her mother and aunt, resulting in more than one laugh-out-loud situation. There was one scene in a sauna that I enjoyed so much I wen back and re-read just for the fun of it. If you like to laugh, you'll love this book. Plus, it's the next best thing to a trip to Italy. (I think I've probably said that before about one of Boeker's books, but it bears repeating because it's true.)
I absolutely love the Mantoni clan! Elegant Death is a perfect counterpart to all the other stories in this series. Carlina and Stefano are finally getting married, and they've planned it so that nothing can go wrong. Then again... When Carlina's brother's famous, wealthy designer girlfriend is murdered during the reception, Enzo is the prime suspect. Despite Stefano now being related by marriage, he and Carlina take on roles as corporate consultants to sniff out the real murderer. Filled with warmth, humor, and charming locales, this book is a must-read for all cozy fans! I highly recommend all the books in this series.
I've loved this series since the first book and this instalment is lovely. Firstly we have Carlina and Stefano's wedding which we have all been waiting for. Inevitably there is a murder which they have to investigate to clear Carlina's brother. This one is mostly set in Milan which is a nice change of scenery.
