Kimberli A. Bindschatel is a thrill seeker, travel adventurer, passionate animal lover, wildlife photographer and award-winning author of the Amazon Best-selling Poppy McVie Mystery series.
When she’s not busting bad guys with her pen, she’s out in the wilderness getting an adrenaline fix. She has rappelled down a waterfall in Costa Rica, rafted the Grand Canyon, faced down an Alaskan grizzly bear at ten feet (camera in hand), snorkeled with stingrays, and white-water kayaked a Norwegian river. She’s always ready for an adventure.
She lives in northern Michigan where she loves to hike in the woods with her rescue dog, Josee, share a bottle of wine with good friends, or sail Lake Michigan with her husband on their boat, Priorities. (You gotta have your priorities!)
Kimberli also co-writes the Charity Styles Caribbean Thriller series with Best-selling author, Wayne Stinnett.
She loves sharing her passion for adventure and wildlife with her readers and happily gives away some of her award-winning wildlife photos.  Sign up for her newsletter at www.kimberlibindschatel.com and get a free photograph for your desktop.

I think this is where Poppy McVie and I part as friends, or rather, acquaintances. You know the kind: the ones where you say hello and sincerely ask them how they are, but beyond that have no interaction with them? And it's not because you don't like them, but there's just a disconnect between you. That's Poppy and me. I don't like chick lit. i don't like humour that isn't telling a story. And I definitely don't like a story where the romance moves at the pace of an inch worm. Actually, that would only be true if inchworms moved backwards. Because at the end of the last book, it looked like Poppy and Dalton were about to start a relationship, but almost halfway through this book, she no longer "knows what they are" and beyond that, they're hardly spending any time together. Unless there's a serious development, I'm out.

Upon finishing, my opinion hasn't changed. I love animals and I think the work that Poppy McVie and the gang do is very important. However, her tendency to jump before looking is really annoying. Plus her relationship with Dalton is still in limbo/a secret/whatever. I wish Ms. McVie all the best, but here's where we part ways. :)

On a side note, these novellas are expensive. If they weren't offered on KU, I wouldn't read them.

Book #5 of the Poppy McVie series puts Poppy and Special Agent Mike partnering undercover as a couple to bring down poachers who sell live snowy owls to parents whose children are Harry Potter enthusiasts. Poppy is happy that they have a new boss who is a woman but she is not happy that she is partnering with Mike who she doesn't trust and doesn't like. She and her partner Mike are trapped and abandoned in the wilds of Canada, with no provisions, shelter, guns or way of seeking help. Mike panics, falls in a frozen lake, and it's up to Poppy to keep them safe and headed towards home. Trapped in a blizzard, Poppy saves the day as well as taking down the poachers.

Snow Wizard.

I really don't like the new team. Firstly I thought it was new, so why was there a six month opp being tide up?
Tom and Mike aren't exactly special opp material. The Boss is... A rock.
Hard to read, and as about as forthcoming with any information. She has no passion or love for the job, certainly none for her team. You put your life on the line, and you worry about punishment.

Other than that it was a good read, l felt the cold.

Another great addition to the series

Another great story with excitement and action. Poppy and Dalton are trying to figure out what is between them. Both start a new assignment on an elite team and are separated by different roles and responsibilities but are still there for each other when needed. The story took and interesting turn and I am glad everyone came back safe.

I love Poppy McVie

Poppy McVie is a superhero for the nature crowd. She uses her femininity as a strength to take down bad guys and shows up the misogynistic good guys every single time. The author uses Poppy’s situations and efforts to engage us all in the struggle for conservation and animal care.

Thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I call it "Poppy steps up and out." Cheered her all the way. I'm sure quite a number of us trusted in a work environment when it really wasn't safe. Poppy learned her lesson well and quickly yet she didn't change who she was and did what she had to do based on forgiveness not revenge. Thank you Ms. Bindschatel for creatiing an admirable character.

Excellent story

Poppy McVie is growing and developing with every sequel.
I love reading about the stories of endangered animals and look forward to the dolphins in the Bahamas story.

Fast paced action with a DNR conservation pulse

Fast paced action with a DNR conservation pulse... also a good, accurate depiction to cold weather survival and office politics betrayal... also made me wonder who the Chicago Hollywood Star could be!!!

The fifth book in the Poopy McVie series doesn’t disappoint: Poppy poses as a taxidermist and ends up lost in the wilderness again. And since things are heating up with Dalton, he won’t stop trying to rescue her.

I actually liked this book. It was exciting enough to keep me up to finish it, though I did think some of the incidents trying to get out of the back country during a blizzard a bit much.. I felt like the author was laying it on a bit thick to demonstrate her knowledge about survival techniques.

This series is very engaging and keeps me wanting more from our heroine. Great messages and interesting settings make these books must reads for animal lovers.
