Betwixt is a collection of the in-between. Catch up with Holly and Scarlet in these stories of the mischief and mayhem they get themselves into while you wait for the next full-length novel.
Stories included: ~A Witch of a Day ~Cats, Bats, and Talking Hats ~Good Gravy! Thanksgiving at Beechwood Manor ~Along Came a Ghost ~The Ghost Hunter Who Saved Christmas ~A Witch's Best Friend (brand new and exclusive to this collection) ~Undercover Wolf (brand new and exclusive to this collection)
Each story has a special note from Danielle that helps navigate where the story or novella fits in the timeline and special background information.
One town. Two leading ladies. More magic than you can shake a wand at. Welcome back to Beechwood Harbor.
This is a cozy mystery. I have read all the books in the beechwood harbor series, and I really love reading this collection of short stories about the series. I love the beechwood harbor series. It is cute, fun, and fill of craziness which is what I love in the cozy mystery. The mysteries are also a fun read. I also love all the characters.
I waited to read this collection until after all the current Beechwood Harbor Ghosts and past the first four Beechwood Harbor Mysteries, but I'm really excited that the author compiled all her short stories and novellas in one place.
A Witch of a Day #.5 Beechwood Harbor Magic prequel
A potion witch spends an exciting Friday the 13th holiday from work that is life-changing.
Holly Boldt has the bloodlines of two powerful witch families running through her. Instead of being a protege and up and coming, she's nearly a pariah because her ex boyfriend turned out to be a dabbler in the dark arts and now she's still paying for her naivete in not knowing.
Another something she doesn't understand, but caused tons of trouble is enough to get her exiled from the Seattle Coven and sent to a supernatural half-way house in little Beechwood Harbor. She has a ghost landlady and a vampire and shifter for roommates. Can she ever get her dream of owning a potions shop and having a home?
A Witch for A Day is an intro to Holly's situation and not a full-blown story. It probably would work just as well following book one as preceding it. Holly is a fun heroine and I can't wait to read more.
Cats, Bats and Talking Hats, a Beechwood Harbor Magic novella after book one
Hijinks occur at Lacey the vampire's Halloween party and Holly has her first mystery to solve. It was fun being along as Holly and Adam tried to figure out who killed the human and how she ended up at an all-vamp party at the Manor. Quick fun tweenie story.
Good Gravy! Thanksgiving at Beechwood Manor Harbor Magic #2.5 A heartwarming and humorous holiday short story of Holly being in charge of Thanksgiving at the Manor and a little reminder that family isn't always the one you're born into.
Along Came a Ghost #4.5 Beechwood Harbor Magic I was really looking forward to this novella because I always wanted the story where Holly first encounters Scarlet and her ghost friends. Of course, I started by reading the two series backward by starting with Scar's books and then going back for Holly's. So yes, getting the ghostly adventure where they met was a big anticipated one. It wasn't a murder mystery so much as a ghost with a problem and a secondary character ghost, Holly's ghostly landlord, Posy, getting a bit of her own sweet story.
The Ghost Hunter Who Saved Christmas, #.5 Beechwood Harbor Ghost story Scarlet is in a holiday rush getting her shopping done, filling all her floral Christmas orders, and getting ready for her parents' visit when she and Holly learn there is a naughty elf on the loose giving kids nightmares before Christmas.
It was fun to see the two leading ladies pair up with the help of all Scarlet's ghost friends to save Christmas. Definitely want more of them teaming up.
A Witch's Bestfriend .4 Beechwood Harbor Magic short story How Holly and Boots her cat familiar meet while she's still a teen at school. This was a quick vignette that was fun and heartwarming. Boots showed his stuff for sure.
Undercover Wolf #5.5 Beechwood Harbor Magic Short Story Oh my stars! How cool is this? Nick the werewolf gets to tell a story. It started off with Nick's PI business in hard shape and him wondering how he can keep things afloat when he notices a string of burglaries reported in the local paper and sets out to solve it and get some notice around town to help his business. A hunch and help from Holly and the gang are just what he needs.
So, that was the group of them. The last two were the never been previously published ones. It was a nice sprinkling of stories from both Beechwood Harbor series and some fun times with all the characters between the main stories.
I really liked all of the short stories in this collection of the Beechwood Harbor Magic Mysteries.
Betwixt includes these stories:
A Witch of a Day- My Review Cats, Bats and Talking Hats- A vampire party isn't Holly's idea of a good time. Especially not on Hallow's Eve when things have a tendency of getting a little crazy without help from a pack of fanged frenemies.
When a human stumbles into the mix, Holly has to act fast to keep the creepy soiree from turning into a crime scene. Cats, Bats, and Talking Hats is a short story that tells the story of Holly's first Hallow's Eve at the Beechwood Manor. She's still getting to know her paranormal roomies when things go sideways at Lacey's Halloween party. In some ways, this is Holly's first mystery with the Beechwood Manor gang.
This story was first published in the Witch or Treat Anthology in 2017
Good Gravy! Thanksgiving at Beechwood Manor
The magic and human worlds collide on Thanksgiving Day in the Beechwood Manor.
Good Gravy! Thanksgiving at Beechwood Manor was a blog exclusive for my newsletter group in the fall of 2016. It's a short story that gives a glimpse into the holidays in the harbor. This story falls between Twice the Witch and Witch Slapped in the timeline.
The Ghost Hunter Who Saved Christmas It's Christmastime in Beechwood Harbor, a sleepy coastal town that's teeming with paranormal beings. The local children are waiting eagerly for the sound of sleigh bells and reindeer hooves, but in the days before Christmas Eve, their dreams turn to nightmares and a rash of hysteria threatens to overshadow the big day!
Local ghost whisperer Scarlet Sanderson already has her hands full with her thriving floral business and an impending visit from her uppity parents. But when she hears that there's a revenge-=hungry super-elf on the loose, she can't sit on the sidelines. Together with Holly Boldt, a powerful witch, they have to stop the elf from stealing away every child's dreams of Christmas before it's too late.
The Ghost Hunter Who Saved Christmas is a Christmas novella that features Scarlet Sanderson, Beechwood's own ghost whisperer, as she teams up with Holly to save the town from a nightmare-inducing elf the week of Christmas. This novella was originally published in the Spells and Jinglebells Anthology in 2017. I loved the idea of Scarlet and Holly working a case together and have plans to team them up again in the future!
A Witch’s Best Friend Holly and her friends have a bad case of senioritis as they enter the final week before graduation. When a classmate throws one final hurrah, she tip-toes into the night to attend. But with a legendary monster lurking on the school grounds, she'll soon find out that she would have been better off staying in bed. A Witch's Best Friend is a short story that tells the tale (or, should I say tail?) of how Holly and Boots met.
As you know, Boots and Holly are inseparable, but there was a time when Holly didn't have her forever fur ball at her side. This story is set before the events of any of the books and send you into Holly's final week at the magic academy.
Undercover Wolf Undercover Wolf is a novella that falls in line after Lucky Witch in the timeline of Holly's series. This story contains *major spoilers* if you've not read up through that book.
Betwixt is a fun anthology and written so that those who haven’t read the series can also enjoy it. For all but the final story, there are very mild spoilers for the series, but nothing more than if you’d read the book blurbs for the series books. Other than a few minor discrepancies, I found the stories entertaining and enjoyable. I like how there is an introduction from the author before each story, giving background info and where it fits chronologically within the series.
Narration: I’ve been listening to Amanda Ronconi read this series for a half dozen books now, and she has consistently done a wonderful job. With the first person POV, the narrator is the main character, and Ms. Ronconi’s charm adds much to Holly’s personality. Ms. Ronconi convincingly portrays Holly’s thoughts, concerns, and expressions, making the character feel real. While Ms. Ronconi provides little difference between the male characters’ voices, the tone is deeper and fitting. Her female voices are each a bit different and well-suited. She also did a great job when characters other than Holly take the lead.
~A Witch of a Day Prequel to the series when Holly still lives in the Seattle Haven and Gabriel is already in jail. This is the story of how Holly was kicked out of the Haven and came to live at the Manor. We already knew the basics, but getting the details was fun.
~Cats, Bats, and Talking Hats Shortly after Holly moves in to the Manor, she and Adam discover a dead human at Lacy’s vampire Halloween party. It was fun to watch the pair try and keep the death a secret while attempting to solve the crime and keep Lacy in the dark.
~Good Gravy! Thanksgiving at Beechwood Manor This one takes place after the series has started and all of the main characters are established. Little is done to introduce new characters (that haven’t yet appeared in the anthology), so first-time listeners may be a bit confused. Great day-in-the-life look at the manor when its residents are not in the midst of danger.
~Along Came a Ghost Takes place after book 5 when Holly has finally cleared herself of the issues hanging over her head. The story introduces Scarlett, the resident ghost whisperer and Flapjack, her ghostly, talking cat, while kicking off a spin-off series. I love how much the residents of the Manor care about their ghostly matron, Posie. One comment on the narration, Holly and Scarlet have very similar voices.
~The Ghost Hunter Who Saved Christmas This is the first story told from Scarlett’s POV. It’s a Christmas novella, and there is an evil elf giving kids nightmares. Scarlett and Holly team up. I enjoyed them working together and hope the main series has more of it. Fun short.
~A Witch's Best Friend This goes a bit back in time to when Holly is in school and meets Boots, her familiar, for the first time. It’s short and cute, with a bit of foreshadowing. Fans of the series will enjoy.
~Undercover Wolf Told from Nick’s POV, this is the only story with major spoilers if you haven’t read through at least book 5, Lucky Witch. Time has passed and Nick’s losing money due to lack of clients. It’s another fun adventure with Nick in the lead now and he’s knowledgable of the supernatural world. I like that the mystery is just an everyday small-town mystery. I loved seeing the group work together.
OVERALL Thoughts: Very enjoyable, especially for fans of the series. I do recommend reading this one after book 5, Lucky Witch.
I love when an author puts together a bunch of novellas into an anthology. Danielle Garrett tells us where the story falls in with the series, which is really wonderful. I love that. These are short enough, it wouldn't work well to review each separately but I will give you some basic information on each story.
A Witch of a Day was published separately as BHMM 0.5 and is a prequel to the series. It shares with us how Holly ends up in Beechwood Harbor.
Cats, Bats, and Talking Hats (2017) is the story of Holly's first Halloween party in BH when Lacey has a vampire Halloween party. Holly is still getting to know her roommates and this is sort of her first mystery in BH.
Good Gravy! Thanksgiving at Beechwood Manor (published 2016 as a blog exclusive for her newsletter group). It falls between Twice the Witch (2) and Witch Slapped (3).
Along Came a Ghost was published separately as BHMM 4.5. It introduces Scarlet who is the main character in the new BHGM series.
The Ghost Hunter Who Saved Christmas (pub 2017) Holly and Scarlet team up to save Christmas for children.
A Witch's Best Friend (brand new and exclusive to this collection) The story of Holly and Boots meeting, while Holly was at Magic Academy. This novella is a prequel to all the BHMM.
Undercover Wolf (brand new and exclusive to this collection) is set after Lucky Witch in the BHMM and contains major spoilers if you have not read it.
I felt these were all well-written and added interesting details to the overall story of the series. Both series and Betwixt are in Kindle Unlimited. So it is easy to read them, but I enjoyed the additional charm of the audiobook performance.
Narration: Amanda Ronconi is a familiar and well-enjoyed narrator for me. I listened comfortably at 1.5x speed. The voices for the various females (Holly, Stacie, Lacey, Scarlet) did not always seem distinct other than the ghosts. Posy has her own particular voice. Adam is the primary male and you can tell who he is by his outrageous dialogue even if he didn't have a different sound. The performance was enjoyable.
"Betwixt: A Breechwood Harbor Collection" by Danielle Garrett features several short stories that expand upon the Beechwood Harbor Magic Mysteries. They are fun additions to this universe, but most of them are also in other books. The last two are new, so enjoy!
Stories Include: ~A Witch of a Day (Holly is doing the best that she can to live a normal life in the Seatle Haven when she's forced to make a potion against her will.)
~Cats, Bats, and Talking Hats (Lacey is having a vamp party, but Holly and Alex just want to hang out. However, when they spot a human mixed into the group, they have to get her out of there before it is too late.)
~Good Gravy! Thanksgiving at Beechwood Manor (Its Thanksgiving at Beechwood Manor and Holly's hosting. What could go wrong?)
~Along Came a Ghost (Scarlet's introduction story. She's a ghost whisper who just wants to live a normal life, but when she finds out that there is a lot more going on in the paranormal world then she realizes she's ready to take action and maybe reunite two ghosts too.)
~The Ghost Hunter Who Saved Christmas (Scarlet and Holly go on the hunt for a nightmare-inducing elf.)
~A Witch's Best Friend (brand new and exclusive to this collection) (Holly is about to graduate from school when she stumbles onto one large orange tabby.)
~Undercover Wolf (brand new and exclusive to this collection) (Nick needs to find work or he's not going to be able to survive. He takes on a case that the police can't solve in hopes of saving his business and his reputation.)
Oh my. If we thought all the interesting things happened during the regular books, this little collection is here to disabuse us of that notion. It sounds like our favorite Beechwood Harbor cast of characters get up to all kinds of shenanigans when we’re not looking. Thankfully, the author has faithfully documented all their hijinks for our reading pleasure.
overall rating ★★★★ audio narrated by Amanda Ronconi
1. A Witch of a Day ★★★★ 2. Cats, Bats, and Talking Hats ★★★★½ 3. Good Gravy! Thanksgiving at Beechwood Manor ★★★½ 4. Along Came a Ghost ★★★★½ 5. The Ghost Hunter Who Saved Christmas ★★★★ 6. A Witch's Best Friend ★★★½ 7. Undercover Wolf ★★★
"Betwixt: A Beechwood Harbor Collection" is a fun and engaging set of cozy short stories and novellas that feature Danielle Garret's protagonists Holly and Scarlet. Told primarily from Holly's perspective, the stories fill out her backstory well by covering how she came to Beechwood Harbor in the first place and the events that led up to her developing relationships with some of the key characters in the books. Hardcore Scarlet fans should not be worried though since she gets good coverage as well in this book including a story that portrays a near disastrous holiday visit from her parents. Additionally, it should be noted that the reader will want to keep track of the chronology of the series to avoid being exposed to potential spoilers.
Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...
1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.
2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.
3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.
4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.
5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.
Danielle Garrett spins fun, witchy yarns that center around a family of women who cross the line of magic to live in the human world, mostly. Beachwood Harbor abounds with magical living next door to human and no one is the wiser. That's because of magic spells, not good spellkeeping.
These cute stories are fun and addictive. Superb writing, characters and scene sets make it feel like you could be transported to Beachwood Harbor and join in the fun. Definitely not to be missed.
A collection of short stories that acts as a companion piece for Danielle Garrett's book series set in Beechwood Harbor, WA. All of these stories have been previously published with the exception of two that are exclusive to this book. As a fan of the series, I enjoyed the author's notes regarding how, when and why each story came to be written. If you missed any of the stories in the series, there are some spoiler alerts and explanations to help keep your interest.
Each story in the collection was awesome and either filled in background information about the main character Holly, or involved a mini mystery. Terrific buy if you are a fan of the series.
Betwixt was a fun collection of short stories. The main character, Holly, becomes house-mates with a shifter, a vampire, and a ghost. It is a quick read and each story is filled with humor.
My review and an extended sample of the audiobook are posted at Hotlistens.com.
This book is a series of short stories from the Beechwood Harbor Mysteries series. It also introduces us to a new character to Beechwood Harbor for a spinoff series, Beechwood Harbor Ghost Mystery. I think you can listen to most of these stories without having read the series, though the last story does have spoilers if you’re not caught up with the series. Don’t worry, the author warns you with her introduction to that story. She does an intro to each short. I had a lot of fun with these little peeks into Beechwood Harbor. I love that we get to spend more time with side characters that maybe don’t get as much page time in the main series.
A Witch of a Day This story is a prequel to the Beechwood Harbor Mysteries. It gives us the story about how Holly ends up a disgrace in the havens and banished to Beechwood Harbor. This goes into much more detail than what is told in the first book, when we learn what happens to her.
Cats, Bats, and Talking Hats This is a Halloween story. Lacey throws a Halloween party at the manor for her vampire friends. But humans show up, which isn’t good. They’re not supposed to know about the supernatural.
Good Gravy! Thanksgiving at Beechwood Manor This is obviously a Thanksgiving story. Holly is hosting Thanksgiving Day dinner at the manor. It will include both humans and the supernatural. Cassie and her family come and she seems to keep inviting everyone from Beechwood Harbor.
Along Came a Ghost This story is prequel to Beechwood Harbor Ghost Mysteries. We get to meet Scarlet. She’s human, but she’s able to see ghosts. We don’t really know why, but she does. She owns a florist shop in Beechwood Harbor and holds a ghost support group in town. We also get to see much more Posey, manor’s ghostly landlord.
The Ghost Hunter Who Saved Christmas Again, Holly and Scarlet are working together to save Christmas from an elf who is causing nightmares in the children around the town.
A Witch’s Best Friend So this is a brand new story for this book (though I’ve not read any of these stories prior to listening to this anthology). This one takes place as a prequel and how Holly finds her familiar and tabby cat named Boots.
Undercover Wolf This story takes place after Lucky Witch (Beechwood Harbor Mysteries #5). Don’t read this story if you don’t want spoilers because there is a big one. This is another brand new story for this anthology. Nick takes a case that the police can’t solve in order to save his business.
Narration Amanda Ronconi continues to do an amazing story with the narration of this series. I don’t know what I can say about her that I haven’t said a thousand times. Just know that she is one of my all-time favorite narrators. She does a lot of funny stories, so I always get excited when I see something I might like and she’s the narrator.
**I'd like to thank the publisher for providing me with a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
A Witch of a Day Prequel to the Beechwood Harbor Mystery series, this outlines more of Holly's back story, especially with her evil wizard ex. She doesn't want to respond to the summons to court (she's already testified over and over.) But when a strange, hooded figure pulls her off the street and tells her she has to make an illegal potion for a powerful wizard or her friend Stacey will be harmed. Explains why Holly got banished to the human world.
Cats, Bats, and Talking Hats It's Halloween! And Lacey and her friends are having a party at the Manor. Adam is playing a lot of pranks but the dead girl isn't one of them. It's up to Holly and Adam to figure out what is going on
Good Gravy! Thanksgiving at Beechwood Manor Short but sweet story about some ceramic turkey's coming to life and surviving with the people, both human and supernatural that join them at the table.
Along Came a Ghost There's a new ghost at the manor and he's causing problems. Holly is going to need help and she reaches out to Scarlet, the new florist who can see ghosts (and the protagonist of another of Garrett's series). Together, they reunite Posy with a very important person from her past.
The Ghost Hunter Who Saved Christmas We see a little bit with Holly's parents and get to hear how Holly, Scarlett, and their ghost friends save Christmas from an elf who is stealing the happy dreams of children because he is jealous of the attention that Santa gets.
A Witch's Best Friend Holly finds her familiar, Boots right before she graduates from magic school.
Undercover Wolf Told from the view of resident werewolf and private investigator who needs work and decides to help out with some home robberies.
I listened to this as an audiobook on audible, which was a little odd. There is no way to see a Table of Contents or to choose which story you want to read, even though it's a collection of novellas and short stories. I initially got this book only for the story where Holly and Scarlett meet (which is near the end of the book, by the way) but when I couldn't choose to skip to a particular story, I settled in to listen to them all, since I hadn't read any of the in-between stories before. My only concern was possible spoilers. Luckily, the author does an introduction at the start of each story telling you where it fits in the timeline. Before the last story she gives you a warning that you will get spoilers if you haven't already read "Lucky Witch." That was the next book in the series for me, so I went and read it, and came back to finish this book. So... wasn't my plan for this book, but it worked out. I enjoyed the stories. Many of them are connected to a holiday, though not all. Personally I prefer long novels and am often unsatisfied by novellas, but I generally liked these. Since I didn't know what the other stories were about (besides the one where Holly meets Scarlett), I was also thrown when the last story was from Nick's point of view. I spent the very beginning of the story like- "who's talking? what's going on?" because I'm so used to the books being from Holly's pov. I think I would've enjoyed that story more if I had had an idea of what it was before I read (listened to) it.
Betwixt: A Beechwood Harbor Collection A Witch of a Day is 0.5 of Beechwood Harbor Magic Mystery series. It is nice to have the backstory on Holly and how she came to Beechwood. She got the short end of that stick. She got banned from the Seattle Coven after being forced to make a disappearing potion and getting tangled up with her ex-boyfriend.
Cats, Bats, and Talking Hats is 1.5 of Beechwood Harbor Magic Mystery series It starts out after book one when Lacy has a Halloween party. Holly is not excited about the party. Things get worse when a human shows up at the party and she ends up dead. Holly helps to figure out
Good Gravy! Thanksgiving at Beechwood Manor is 2.5 in the Beachwood Harbor Mystery series. Very short read. Holly invites her human friends and some community members to the mansion for Thanksgiving.
Along Came a Ghost is 4.5 of Beechwood Harbor Magic Mystery series. We meet Scarlet who communicates with ghosts. A ghost shows up in Holly’s greenhouse. The house-guests join Scarlet to find Posy’s husband’s ghost.
The Ghost Hunter Who Saved Christmas. Scarlet and Holley team up again. Told from Scarlet’s POV. A Witch's Best Friend is a fun read about Holly got Boots.
Undercover Wolf written from Nick’s POV. Would not recommend reading unless you have read #5 Lucky Witch. Nick is low on work and looking for any cases to take on.
Overall these stories were really great and helped fill in some of the blanks in between the stories.
I try to read a few cozy mysteries during the summer. The Beechwood Harbor Series was recommended on BookTube, so I listened to “Betwitxt,” a compilation of short stories that make it 0.5 in the series.
Danielle Garrett writes about supernatural characters and Holly Bolt takes the lead in most of these short stories. She is a potions witch with a huge orange tabby familiar.
An ex-boyfriend puts Holly on the wrong side of the law, and she is forced to leave Seattle and live in a home for troubled supernatural young people.
Most stories revolve around Holly and the other residents. They are all fun and fast paced mysteries. The final story, “Undercover Wolf” is about an aspiring detective, Nick” in the Beechwood community that also happens to be a werewolf. I think that one was my favorite.
I’d recommend this collection if you want some fun cozy short stories, and they’ve motivated me to try Garrett’s first book in the series, “Murder’s a Witch.”
Beechwood Harbor Magic Mystery #0.3, #0.5, #0.6, #2.5, #4.5, #5.4, #5.6 Beachwood Harbor Ghost Mystery #0.5, #4.5 This is an anthology of stories set before and between the books of the series listed above. Below, I have provided you with a list of the stories, where they fall in the series & from whose point of view they are told:
"A Witch of a Day" BHMM #0.5 – Holly "Cats, Bats, and Talking Hats" BHMM #0.6 – Holly "Good Gravy! Thanksgiving at Beechwood Manor" BHMM #2.5 – Holly "Along Came a Ghost" BHMM #4.5 & BHGM #0.5 -Holly & Scarlet "The Ghost Hunter Who Saved Christmas" BHGM #4.5 & BHMM #5.6 – Scarlet & Holly "A Witch's Best Friend" BHMM #0.3 – Holly "Undercover Wolf" BHMM #5.4– Nick
I really liked this set of stories. It adds the prequel and some short stories between the published books to Beechwood Harbor Mysteries. I liked getting more background information. The narrator did a great job. The book also contains a few stories from the Beechwood Harbor Ghost Hunter Mysteries. Since I had not started the series except book 1 which was originally book 4.5 in the first series. We are introduced to Scarlet, the sleuth in the Ghost Hunter spin off series.
I can’t wait to catch up on both series. Looking forward to both series.
Betwixt is a collection of short stories that help supplement the Beechwood Harbor Magic Mysteries series. The best thing about these stories is that the author provides a brief explanation of where the stories fit chronologically with the series. I loved reading the prequel story, explaining briefly how Holly came to be in Beechwood Harbor. And the other stories had some fun facts and occasional laughable moments, as well as bringing more life to the regular characters.
This is the first story collection for Danielle Garrett's Beechwood Harbor stories. There are 6 stories, including the story of how Posy got Earl back. All are excellent and fill in gaps between the Witch books. The second book collection is already available, and I will review that one separately. If you enjoyed the Witch books, as I did, you're going to enjoy these short stories, as well. Highly recommended!
If Danielle Garrett ever stops writing books I don't know what I will do. Her books are the uplifting point in my life. I absolutely adore Holly, Adam, Evangeline and all the Beechwood Harbor residents, even Flapjack. If you want to have a fun time and meet some new friends, who just happen to be magical, pick up a book by Danielle Garrett, I promise you will feel at home after the first few pages.
I picked this one up after starting book 7 hoping it would explained how Harmony became Holly’s apprentice. However it does not. I’ve noticed a couple of instances like this with this series. I may be missing something but it seems like that backstory would be important to the overall continuity of the series. It won’t stop me from moving forward though. It’s just a little frustrating to end one place in the previous book and pick up at a different time with an added character.
I read this in 2 sittings, but each story were completely independent and engaging! I want more!! I think I have read about 8 books of this cute witch and supernatural roommates and 2 ghosts! I love to read it takes me away from my stressed out life. Merry Christmas 2021!!!
This is a good book and gives a lot of background information on other characters. I listened to it after I had finished the whole series. It would have been awesome to read the novellas between the full-length novels. I just love these characters!
Also, Amanda Ronconi is the narrator of this book and the full-length novels so that is a big fat cherry on top!
Perfect cozy mystery read. I liked that it was short stories and perfect little bite sized pieces for when there wasn’t time or focus for a full book. I also like that it tells you outright where it fits in things and gives plenty of warning about potential spoilers in case you weren’t quite there yet.
