Grace Lundy's life has been tainted with horror and tragedy. She’s spent the past ten years building a fortress around her heart to avoid more pain. In the process, she’s managed to push away those closest to her, but the time has come for them to push back.
Billy "Flea" Jameson lives his life as a faithful soldier in the Dogs of Fire MC, free of commitment and drama… until Grace comes home from college. The sexy as sin woman who walks into the clubhouse isn’t the young girl who left for school, and her appearance promises an end to his commitment-free life.
But trouble brews when an innocent man is sent to prison and a rival club vies for territory.
As Flea works with his brothers to protect the club, can he keep Grace from being caught in the crossfire?
New York Times & USA Today Bestselling Author Piper Davenport writes from a place of passion and intrigue, combining elements of romance and suspense with strong modern-day heroes and heroines.
She currently resides in the Pacific Northwest with her author husband, Jack Davenport, and an obnoxious YorkiePoo named Pepper who may or may not be an international spy.
The only thing I didn't like about this book, was Flea's name. I really didn't like it.
If you have been following this series, then you will know that Grace is Maisie's (from Road to Peace) best friend who killed herself or tried to kill her daughter and then turned the gun on herself. And Grace is that little girl. She is also the best friend of Poppy, Maisie and Hatch's daughter. Grace is a ballerina and has graduated from college and she is back home, broke and living with her brother, Finch just in time for when he gets his patch with the Dogs of Fire. That is where she sees Flea again. He was also the one who was there all those years ago when she and her brother were brought to the club after the tragedy happened. And he was also the one who made her feel safe after everything happened. Now she sees him a different way, still her safety but also she can't help feeling totally attracted to him. But with all her issues she doesn't think its a great idea to get involved with him.
Flea spots Grace when she comes to the club to celebrate her brother getting his patch. And immediately he wants her. He remembers how he comforted her all those years ago and now all he wants to do is protect her and be the one she turns to when she needs help. But can they be together, with the big age difference but also with all of Grace's insecurities and other issues. Will the fact that he loves her and wants to protect her be enough for them. But then also danger comes around with the club and an old enemy wanting to take them down.
I absolutely love this author. Whenever I start her books I feel like I get lost in the club story and all the characters and I just want the story to go on forever. I absolutely loved Flea (except for his name) he was this big dangerous biker, but the other side of him was this sweet, patient and soft hearted biker. Definitely my type of MC story, loved the characters, loved the angst and the action and the steamy sex scenes, HOT DAMN! And I can't wait for the next book Finch and Remi...
Flea & Grace's story is a fun, sexy read! I love the way they are with each other. Flea is the perfect choice to help Grace through her insecurities, and the support he gives her throughout some tough healing she has to get through is aces. We also get to see a lot of the Dogs family pull together during the other things going on, and we get a nice cameo from the Saints (Minus!!! Yay!). Grace's grandma is a riot, and I enjoyed each component of this story a lot, a lot! There's a fabulous epilogue AND a great snippet of the next installment of the series. Thumbs way up!! : )
Road to Grace by Piper Davenport is book One in the Dogs of Fire Series. This is the story of Billy 'Flea' Jameson & Grace Lundy. When Grace was 12 years old her mother killed herself in front of her...and had planned to kill her too. Grace and her brother were taken in with friends of the Dogs of Fire group. Now Grace has graduated from College and is back with her brother. Her brother is becoming a member of the group and at the ceremony she sees Flea. Flea was one of the people that were there for her right after her mother's death so she feels a connection with him. But that is nothing now that she is an adult. Flea can't believe that the little girl has grown up into a beautiful women...that he wants. Threats to the gang are all so in play with him dealing with his feelings. Exciting Read.
Great read. I loved it. Flea was just so sweet and I loved that they communicated about everything. Pretty awesome. Their bantering back and forth was pretty amusing. Love books where they make you smile cause it's so sweet. Love that the drama was outside the relationship. Great story.
MC Romance is one of my favorite genres so I cant be a tad more critical then most.
Grace- the main reason I DNF-ed this book.
1. She blames her Father for not being a Psychic and knowing her Mother was going to Kill herself and so she hasn't spoken to him since she was 12. (Not a spoiler this is Chapter 1) 2. She keeps saying she shouldn't date or be with anyone b/c she is going to go crazy like her Mother... like it is something she is going to catch as soon as she is happy? 3. Virgin- sorry a little over the girl who has 0 experience. Has 0 knowledge about sex, oral sex etc. She has 0 experience. She hasn't had anyone touch her before... she is 22. 4. She just had sex for the 2nd time and she asks him if she should get tested when she sleeps with someone else... umm wtf? You had a man inside you 10 seconds before and you ask him about having sex with someone else in the future. And then you are surprised he gets mad? I cant.
So long story short the plot didn't piss me off it was the Leading Lady. Sometimes Authors try so hard to write about the chaise Virgin falling for the Bad Guy they forget their readers are ok with someone REAL.
Give me woman who isn't ashamed she has had sex and is experienced and can appreciate a man who has some experience over a Virgin any day!
I stumbled on this author somehow and now it’s like an addiction. MC crack? I think so… If you’ve read this series then you are no stranger to either Grace or Flea. I’ve been waiting for their story and every cautious step forward in their relationship had me scream-whispering in the corner ‘yes, yes!’
Grace was young but she had gone through a trauma years earlier that still affected her today. Her relationship with her family, the PTSD were all things she still struggled with. Her best friend and her MC family were always there for her so she got by… Leave it to Flea to encourage her to have more.
Flea knew Grace for years and was surprised and instantly attracted to the young woman who returned from college. He saw her grow up but his feelings were anything but paternal as he took Grace under his wing and hoped for more than friendship…
Their courtship was sometimes sweet and others just downright raunchy. And it all worked because of the emotions and feelings the two had for each other, that were easy to see and feel. This author invites you into her character’s heads, daring you to feel what they feel and it’s a challenge I’m up for each and every time.
The Dogs are a tight-knit MC and circle the wagons whenever one of their own is threatened. This adds fuel to a fiery story that never let up on excitement or tension. This series feels like it’s just getting started and I need more, more, more!
I really enjoy Piper Davenport love all of her books this is one I've been wanting to read and was so happy with how it turned out . Road to grace can be read as a standalone but I highly suggest / recommend that you read Road to peace first , the longing , then this one . I can't wait to see whats to come by this author she is a true talent who has created such likable characters and storylines that draw you in to what is happening to them . copy provided for honest review **************************************** hero=10 heroine=10 secondary characters=10 Chemistry=10 steam= 9 romance=7 humor=4 darkness level=3 action=3 mystery=3 enjoyment=10 angst=3 story line=10 Story ending=10 character development=10 pacing=10 cover= 10 stars= 5 would I recommend this book=yes would I re read this book= yes would I read future books by this author= yes
Is this the same author that gave me Booker, Hawk and Mack? I am having a really hard time believing the answer is YES.
This book was a bit confusing to me, I wasn’t able to read Road to Peace because it isn’t available at Barnes and Noble for my Nook but I don’t think that would have helped my confusion, so I stopped and searched, and search a bit more to see if I missed a few books that were possible spin-offs and yep, I found a spin off. Mav and Lily have a book called The Promise and it is actually listed as “Dogs of Fire: Wolfpack MC” so I missed their story (until today, cause I am buying it) I should have read that before this book so I may have understood a bit more.
Obviously Flea and Grace’s story is in the future. Poppy and Devon, who are they and where is their story? It was nice to read about Hawk, Mack and Booker for the brief seconds they were included but the way this book read they could have been from another chapter rather than the same club. How is Crow still the President? Who the hell is Minus and when did his club become buddy’s with these guys? I dislike authors that write books that I feel are “series” reads and jump from one to the next without some type of read order.
I love Grace’s humor but the hygiene discussion after sex was a bit much and the UTI lesson I could have done without. At no time did Grace even ask how he knew all this stuff. Not to mention this girl went from virgin to sex crazed in just a few pages. Why include Flea’s mother at dinner only not explain her attitude? Who was she talking to? Why did she say what she said?
I’m disappointed but I like Flea and Grace together, loved the “drama” story with Hatch and liked all the supporting characters but this book was rushed and incomplete in my opinion. I can’t rate it higher than I have which makes me sad because I liked this series.
Oh my god this is why I have been so addicted to this series. This book was so, so good. I loved getting Grace and Flea's story. This book was like a crazy roller coaster ride. My heart broke for Grace and everything that she went through and is still having night terrors from.
Grace is back in town now after finishing college and is trying to figure out where to go from here. She goes to a MC party one night and Flea once again sets eyes on her and is instantly drawn to her. There is something about her he can't deny and she has always had a thing for him. Things progress but life is never easy and one of their own is being framed. Things go down at the ballet company she apprentices for, someone ends up in the hospital and let's not forget the issue she has with her father. All things take place in this book and it makes life interesting.
Will any kind of relationship be able to grown when it seems life just gets harder and harder? Will Flea be the man that she needs? Will she be able to grow and work through her past?
I absolutely LOVE this series and can't get enough. Piper does such a great job and I am hooked. I can't wait to get more!!
Grace wants to become a principal in a ballet company. Flea is a member of the Dogs of Fire MC. Flea was there many years ago when Grace’s mom traumatized her. They have been around each other for a long time. Grace and Flea are finally ready to make their interest in each other official. This is the ninth book in the series and I’m glad I took a break because it helped me gain an appreciation for the story again. I will be continuing this series and finishing it, but I will take some time between books.
If i could give this book more than 5 stars, I totally would! What a fabulous read! I haven't read this author before. Grace and Flea together was pure beauty in a biker book. He is so caring, loving and gentle with her. Don't let that fool you though, he can and will protect her with his life. Grace has been through hell in her life, it is very satisfying to see Flea natrually wanting to protect her. it was heartwarming to read.
I enjoyed this read. Don't know why, but this book was a lot more romantic than I expected it to be. It might have been I really enjoyed Flea (didn't like the name, but hey can't win them all). He was strong, alpha, kind and just completely hooked me from the start. The characters in this series are always likable, so I enjoyed that about this book too. The plot was well done with not too much drama, but enough to keep me guessing.
Flea is quite the protective one, “you wanna back off my receptionist?” I growled. I almost said ‘my woman,’ but stopped myself." Flea is a romantic sort, “didn’t expect you’d sound like you were being effed thoroughly while eatin’ it. Don’t wanna hear that until I’m effin’ you thoroughly… cake can be part of it at some point, but I’d like the honor of your next orgasm.” Grace is just so feisty, and sassy and the woman loved teasing her man: “No,’cause then I’d lose your ***k,” I mused. “Well, unless I bronze it.” “Get in the car, Grace.” I scoffed. “I wouldn’t bronze it unless you were dead, honey. Don’t worry.” I loved this book, I loved the characters.
What I didn't like: another manwhore gets the virgin storyline. I guess I'm on a kick where I am tired of this. She didn't have to slut around like he did, have at least one partner in the past. I also don't like that he thinks he understands certain things and that he is so freaking pushy.
OMG I love Flea. He has always been a favorite of mine. I am so glad that Grace was able to find peace within Flea. Their story was awesome. This series has been amazing and I have devoured it.
Sucker for an MC read I was eager to get stuck in when this hit my kindle and I wasn’t disappointed, Flea satisfied every expectation I had for him, an honest to goodness proper alpha male and more because he had another side of him that I found even more endearing. Yes, he was a man that loved things his own way and wasn’t shy about making sure that everyone knew it, but he also was so loving, so compassionate that he proved impossible to resist. Grace might have thought she could step away, not necessarily because of Flea but moreover the fact that she just didn’t have the wherewith all to get involved in something that might have the legs to last. Long-term relationships weren’t exactly on her agenda Her past had left an indelible legacy, a tragic upbringing that saw pain and sorrow marred almost every day. But as an adult, she uses a mask of sass and attitude to hide behind and for most that barrier is enough but Flea, sees the real Grace and now she is back, he isn’t about to watch the woman he has set his sights on suffering. He makes sure that she knows that he is there, he is so caring, so considerate that I wondered just how long she was going to be able to hold out. Their connection was honest, it read well, with an authenticity that made their relationship jump off the page. I enjoyed the banter between the two of them, the fact that humour and honesty that they both brought to the page. Told from multiple points of view the story had a lot happening, a solid cast of secondary characters, including the MC family who gave as good as they got and showed exactly what Family means…although I don’t actually think any of them would have an answer for Grace’s Grandmother!! She was Epic. Even if you haven’t read the Dogs of Fire series this stands perfectly on its own, so please don’t let that deter you. As a huge fan of the MC genre, this is one that I would highly recommend…well written this author brings everything you could possibly be looking for in a romance to the table.
4.5 stars A fabulous addition to the Dogs of Fire series!!
Grace has more than enough reason to struggle with PTSD, have a difficult relationship with her father and a significant lack of trust in others. The trauma she endured at a young age was enough to cripple anyone. Despite, frequent bouts of insecurity, she's become a up-and-coming ballerina and a beloved adopted daughter of the Dogs of Fire motorcycle club.
Flea was there in the beginning, helping to calm Grace after her horrific ordeal and she's always brought out his protective instincts but when she walks back in from college, she's a revelation to him. She's not a little girl anymore and more than his protective nature starts to rise. (wink wink) Finding out that she's still caught in the clutches of her PTSD some ten years later pushes him act on the feelings he's hidden from her.
These two were perfect for each other!! It reminded me of the adage that "we call carry baggage, love is finding someone to help you unpack". Well, Flea is a professional unpacker when it comes to Grace. He is the perfect mix of alpha "dog" and woman's best friend. So caring and sweet it'll make your teeth ache, he breaks down Grace's walls and gives her the confidence to find herself and heal. She's fiesty and funny and someone you want to be friends with. In addition, they are so sexy together!
Great book, lots of love, laughs and heat! Can't wait for the next one!
Another winner. Loved the story and the characters. Grace had a horrific start in life. She'd worked hard to overcome her resulting PTSD yet wasn't over it. Flea (Billy Jameson) knew her from way back when. She'd returned home turning down an amazing opportunity that wasn't enough to keep her away. The grown-up version captured Flea's attention right away. With patience and his own natural charm, it wasn't long until they'd begun a journey into learning how to care about another.
With her brother a newly patched member of the MC and her borrowed parents as longtime members, she knew more than most but not enough about the life. She'd have to learn along the way. Their love was a joy to watch. With family issues on both sides, the two of them manage to find hard fought for trust and family in their relationship.
There is a club problem from an unknown enemy that threatens an important brother. Can Flea maintain his personal rules while helping take care of the danger to the club and his brother? The outcome will affect Grace as much as anyone. It becomes a test for their relationship.
Although I am in the process of reading the entire series, I didn't have any problem keeping up with the characters and storyline. A cover-to-cover in one sitting read. Couldn't put it down. I recommend this book as well as the series. Reviewed for Words Turn Me On
I love a good MC story, so I was looking forward to this one. I really enjoyed the author's writing and the premise of the story was really good.
Billy "Flea" Jameson is an MC soldier of the Dogs Of Fire MC and when he is reacquainted with Grace Lundy on her return from college, he notices just how she has gone from the girl he once protected with the rest of his club to a grown sexy woman who he wants to continue to protect. This surprises him but the chemistry between the two of them is evident. However, Grace had a traumatic incident happen as a child, one she constantly replays and haunts her to this very day. Is Flea be the man to erase those nightmares and put Grace back together.
I did enjoy the story but for me, it was just not bad ass enough and It was a little too slow with the plot of the story only really showing itself right near the end. The characters were well written but there was not enough passion there to gel the whole thing together, it just needed more "fire", everything felt too easy going for an MC book. I like guns and rows, loyalty and a consuming passion to protect their brothers and their woman and tales that will make your toes curl and I just didn't quite feel I got that experience with this book. However, that being said if you aren't looking for all the drama and fire, then it is definitely worth a read.
This is part of a series, and to really understand the characters and situations that are mentioned, you should really read this series in order before starting this. Grace is still dealing with the aftermath from years ago (Maisie and Hatch's book), its obvious she has PTSD (but then who wouldn't). She has noticed Flea throughout the years, but never thought much of it, just that he is hot. She doesn't realize that Flea has also noticed her right back, and he for the most part ignored the attraction and just lived life. Until one fated moment puts Grace in his sights, and he can finally get on her radar more. From that night on Flea makes a point to make sure that Grace knows his intentions, he is going to make her his. Can Grace conquer the past that haunts her? Will she stop avoiding living a life now that Flea is there to help beat the demons?
I am so freaking happy that Grace got a story, and this was freaking perfect! Flea is amazing, and I loved how he dealt with all of the issues that arose, he was just what she needed, patient but he knew when to push certain things. This has some super freaking hot sexy times, some drama of the regular and MC variety, a few laughs, and the need for more; all things that make a great story. I give this 5 stars.
I absolutely LOVED Road to Grace as it seemed that it was a lighter read when it came to the Dogs of Fire, but no worries, there was still an angst factor to it, with a side of MC excitement. See, Grace experienced a terrorizing event in her childhood involving her mother that really marked her into adulthood, so she still dealt with the repercussions of it. Her brother had joined the Dogs of Fire MC, so when Grace had graduated college & came to live with him, she came face to face with Flea again, and they had an strong attraction. And that lead to something that neither of them were expecting. Something that I really loved about this story is that Flea wasn't a huge manwhore coming into it, and that's not to say that he hadn't had other women, just that he wasn't always on the hunt for it when Grace came into the picture. And Grace was a strong woman who didn't want people to see her issues that she perceived as a weakness, so I loved their interactions so much. Plus, it didn't hurt any that the chemistry they had lead to such hot sexy times, it set the sheets on fire. With a cast of secondaries that added more depth, & humor to the story, some twists to let the f-bombs drop, and the set up for the next book, it was the perfect story in my opinion from the talented Piper Davenport! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Road to Grace is the seventh title in the Dogs of Fire MC series, and features a pair of characters who have appeared quite frequently in the previous titles. Grace and Flea's story is a well paced, fun, sweet, sexy and full of emotion, told from multiple points of view.
This pair of characters are endearing and complex. Grace had a tumultuous and tragic childhood, the that trauma of which still haunts her. Despite having some insecurities, she's feisty, sassy and fun.
Flea is the type of alpha you'd expect as part of an MC series, but he's also kind, caring, compassionate and loving. Grace has a tendency to hold herself back from making long lasting relationships, but Flea is patient, persistent and tenacious in his pursuit, and his caring, compassionate and loving nature breaks down her barriers.
Despite the fact that Flea is ten years Grace's senior their connection and chemistry is not only evident, but realistic, and quite hot and steamy. Their banter is witty, heartfelt, honest and at times has a touch of humor.
If you've already read the Dogs of Fire, I highly recommend reading this addition to the series. If you haven't read the previous titles you could read this as a standalone, but I highly recommend the whole series for anyone who is a fan of the MC romance genre.
I love a good MC story, so I was looking forward to this one. I really enjoyed the author's writing and the premise of the story was really good.

Grace was faced with something ten years ago that no one should have face, let alone a young girl. Now ten years later she is back home and ready to start her life after college. Her goal is to become a principal dancer in the Portland Ballet Company. Billy "Flea" Jameson was there ten years ago when all the stuff went down with Grace and he was there to hold her and thought of her as a little girl but ten years later she has grown into a woman. He can't seem to take his eyes off her and he knows what he wants and he will have Grace. I have to say this was my first read by this author and I loved this book. The relationship between Grace and Flea was the perfect yin and yang. They balance each other out so well. No where did this story slow down to where I wanted to pause. It was excellently told and burned my kindle up with the heat from this couple. This book made me want to read more of this series. I highly recommend this book, great story, amazing characters and the reason I read MC Romance.

Grace knows feat and heartbreak like no other. She is finally home after 10 years and as no clue that her life is about to change. Flea lives his life for his MC but when he sees a grown up Grace, all bets are off. With one major threat the the club, these two try to find time for each other. Grace has to do something about her dad, but what?? Awesome writing

This book was riveting. It’s mixture of tragedy and romance really spoke to me.
Road to Grace By Piper Davenport 5 stars Reviewed on behalf of 3 Degrees of Fiction Book Blog
Where do I start with this book? It really did take my breath away. This is the first book that I have read by this author and I know that I have found a new author to love! The way in which she told Flea and Grace’s story really was amazing – it was just so beautifully written. I absolutely must read the other books from this series!! I think I’m pretty much in love with Flea! He was a biker through and through! He respected Grace and would do anything to protect her. Grace was just, well I don’t even know if I can find the words for her. To come back from what happened to her as a child – I just found her awe-inspiring! She deserved to find someone like Flea, someone to trust and know that they will take care and protect you at all times. This is what she should have had as a child! From beginning to end I was in love, the author took me on one heck of an emotional rollercoaster! They were everywhere whilst I was reading this. I know for a fact that my eyes never strayed from my kindle at all! A fabulous story with amazing characters. It’s more than worthy of the 5 stars I give it! I would give it more if I could!!
What happens when a childhood tragedy causes so much anxiety it’s hard to be your own person?
You find a man who’s willing to stand with you through the dark times and embrace the good times.
Grace had a lot thrown at her when she was twelve years old. Caught with the fact that her mother was either going to kill her or kill herself, Grace struggles with living her life ten years after the dreadful day her mother basically played Russian roulette with her life.
Flea isn’t the settling down kind of man until Grace comes back from college looking like a woman he’d like to sank his teeth into. But past trauma has Flea taking his time, keeping Grace’s trust and being there for her when everything seems like it’s going to crumple.
This story is told in dual POV. I enjoyed seeing how Flea was gentle with Grace but he didn’t treat her like a delicate flower. He pushed when it was appropriate. Grace surprised me as you’d think she’d be timid, but she’s a sassy, smart-mouthed woman who wants things she believes are out of her reach.
Must read to find out how the story progresses.
**I received this as an ARC for my honest review**
We got to know both Flea and Grace in Hatch & Maisie's story and with Poppy & Maverick's will they or won't they get together.
Grace's brother just patched into the Dogs after prospecting while he was finishing his law degree. His Dad Ryan is a police detective who worked with his department's task force and the FBI during an earlier issue with Russian mobsters who were trafficking girls and young women with a rival MC.
Grace is still suffering PTSD and is leery of letting anyone including the gorgeous Flea into her world. Thankfully he is very patient and decided quite a while ago that she was it for him.
The characters and plots in this installment were refreshing to read. With Grace experiencing so much trauma so young, it was nice to have an installment that was mostly playful and lighthearted.
I love that this series can be read individually as they each have their own HEA but build on each installment beginning with the Burning Saints Series. I'm hoping it circles back to updates on Minus, Clutch and the men of the Saints before closing out.
So so so happy to get back to the "Dogs". This book is a wonderful addition to the series.
Grace had something very traumatic happen years ago. She was already best friends with Poppy, but Poppy's family welcomed her with open arms creating an even closer bond with the two. In this story we have her coming home after completing university. She has taken a lower dance position with a conservatory close to home in hopes of rising in the ranks. Flea remembers Grace as a young girl and is shocked at his immediate attraction to the beautiful woman she has become. Navigating family, club issues and busy schedules is not easy. Can these two find a way to mesh their lives together? or is there just too much happening pulling our couple apart?
This story flows beautifully and kept me engaged page after page. I have to say, I was thrilled to spend time with my book hubby ..... Hatch <3 Love that man!
Grace and Flea have always had a special bond and now they are adding a few other monikers to their relationship. Grace witnessed a scene that no one should have lodged in their brain. It profoundly changed her life and if not for Maisie, Poppy, and the Dogs she might not have ever found any peace. Flea from the every first has always been a safe harbor in the storm. She knows he doesn't see her as anything more than the kid that he protected but that in no way encapsulates the depths of her feelings for him. Flea knows he should leave it be and forget his need for Grace. With everything she has survived he should just be a shoulder to lean on for her, but he cannot ignore the insane pull she has over him. Finding grace in her arms would be everything he always wanted but never knew he was looking for.
I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book.
