Attractive and artistic, this colourful ‘search and find’ board book from the creator of the Wee Gallery is a great introduction to colours and everyday shapes. Toddlers and adults together can explore each page dedicated to a different colour and search for the objects hidden within the beautiful, large mosaic-inspired illustrations. Little ones will learn to find and recognise different shapes as they turn each colourful page of this delightful book.
What a colourful and fun book this is! Oh course for adults this is very easy. Nothing like Where's Waldo on the difficulty side. But it's really good for little ones. If you're child hasn't yet been able to do the I Spy books or other middle grade (9-11) level spying books then this is a good pick instead. As a child I always loved seek and find books and as an adult my love for them has not waned. With Animosaics, there's also the additional benefit that they learn animals at the same time!
I would recommend sitting with the child and have them identify the name of the animal, then find the animal on the subsequent page. Most of the animals are one dominant colour so you could also do colours for each one if you wanted. The best part about this book is it's published on hard back cardboard paper so you can even let your toddler flip the pages of colour and be amused. A great little teaching tool that is sure to be a hit with kids aged 5 or less!
There's no denying it, I'm a hidden object fan. Even more so, when my children join me and enjoy the book as much as I do.
Animosaics: Can you find it? is the second book in the author's Animosaics' series and like Animosaics: Can you find me? both books are quite unique, because the pictures here aren't the big city scenes or the playground in the park, where you look for the girl in the red dress or the boy on the blue bike.
Instead, as the title suggests, the beautiful artwork is mosaic-inspired. Imagine confetti in different shapes and shades of one colour thrown onto the page and you'll get there. That makes it more challenging for the children to find the objects, but the book is very well executed and it's addictive and a lot of fun.
Each time you turn a page, there's a different colour and the hidden items are listed on the right together with an image showing them, which helps the kids to identify them and it also encourages to learn and memorize the spelling of the various words.
There are ten colours to explore: blue, red, yellow, purple, orange, green, pink, white, black and finally gold and there are six hidden items to search in each mosaic.
But there's more. One extra special object is hidden on each page, and this time the children look for different shapes. A blue triangle, a red square, a yellow diamond, etc.
The whole book is simply a very clever idea, because now we've got a picture book where we can teach the wee ones basic colours, basic shapes, the names/spelling of a nice variety of everyday objects like strawberry, aubergine or pumpkin and at the same time they learn to concentrate and stay focused.
The last item to look for and hopefully find is a cheerfully smiling golden star. A perfect way to round up a very enjoyable hidden object book of high quality. 5 happy gold stars from me.
This was a fun book that helps you to learn as you read. I love books like this as they make you think about what you are looking for and find the objects mentioned – ideal for young ones to read with a parent or guardian – Five stars from me.
Simple but beautiful (unique and original in it's art style) Search and Find book for kids. It can help develop visual attention and focus, learn new vocabulary (objects, fruits, colors) and have fun! Well done!!
When I first read Animosaics on my tablet I wasn't blown away. I got my library to buy a hard copy so I could read it with my toddler (after all, who would be a better reviewer for a children's book?). That made all the difference, I really recommend getting a hard copy!
My toddler is 2.5 and absolutely loves this book. I thought it looked quite difficult to find the hidden things, but it doesn't bother him one bit and he even imagines other hidden things. He calls this book "the book with the beautiful colours". The pages are hard cardboard so it's easy for little ones to turn them and read on their own. Side note - the book is also slippy and makes a wonderful makeshift sliding game ;-)

This is a very simple board book for young children, a sort of I-Spy in different colors. On each 2 page layout, the left page has the page to search, the items blending in to the monochromatic background. The right hand page lists the items that can be found. Some colors are more challenging than others, the darker colors creating a better camouflage.
Ultimately a simple book that meets its intended purpose. My 8 year old son was interested and enjoyed it, but made quick work of it. A good book for children in the 4-7 year range, I'd think.
Note: I received this book from the publisher via NetGalley. I pride myself on writing fair and honest reviews.
A mosaic on the left hides a number of items listed on the right. The fact they’re the same color makes it difficult, but certainly doable even for small children. The second page, red, has the viewer looking for a “ladybird,” even though it’s obviously a “ladybug.” Made me chuckle. Other than that, it’s both pretty basic yet also a nice switch on the average puzzle game. 3.5 pushed up to 4/5
I was sent a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
This was a great and innovative kids books for teaching them colors, shapes and developing some of their abilities by recognizing similar things and finding things! It was quite short, and I think there could've been a bit more colors, but even so, a lot of fun.
This was a beautiful hidden picture book, and I loved the plain/pure style of it. Though it looks very simple, not each hidden object was that easy to spot, and sometimes I even discovered some interesting additional shapes. The unicolored pages exude kind of a calming aura, which was surprisingly different - and much appreciated - from the usual hidden picture books for children (Wimmelbücher').
This is a very innovative search and find book for children, but the colors were too intense for my eyes and made it impossible to look at, especially for the pages red, yellow and gold.
Thank you NetGalley and QEB Publishing for providing me with a free digital copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
Animosaics: Can you find it by author Surya Sajnani is a fun children’s book that teaches more than just colors and shapes. This is a favorite here in our house! It is fun looking for all of the shapes and colors! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of Can You Find It in exchange for an honest review.
Really fun book! My kids loved racing to find the items in the monochromatic mosaic. Now that my kids have found everything I don't know how often they would look at the book again but I think it would be a good addition to a family library.
This visually impressive book will assist in developing a number of key skills of a young child including problem solving, recognition and attention to detail. In addition they will be able to add new words to their vocabulary The pages are in different colours and the aim is to identify specified objects that have been hidden within the larger picture which has a mosaic composition. Even for an adult some objects are not easy to find and strangely the level of difficulty seems to be related to what the colour is, for me the lighter the colour the more easier it was to identify the object.
Trying to engage, educate as well as increasing the child's attention span and of course at the same time entertaining them is not the easiest of things to achieve but this book goes some way to accomplishing this.
Is this the most adorable search and find book out there? It might be! It's geared towards a younger age than I expected - it's only 10 pages long, it's organized by colour, and finding the images is much easier than other search and find books (such as I Spy, Mamoko, The Lost House, Where's Waldo, etc). I can see it being extremely popular with kids aged 2 - 4. I think the hidden items are expertly chosen: a combination of cartoon shapes, everyday objects (glasses, crayon, spade), and fun imaginative objects (magic wand, candy floss, duck).
This is a unique search and find book! Each mosaic is one color and so are the items found within in, which can definitely add some challenge for children. Some of the colors are more challenging to find the items in, but it can lead to lots of discussion about details of images and how to use small details to find larger images. Each page also includes a shape to find allowing for discussion about those as well. I think this book would be great for a home library or a classroom!
Thank you NetGalley for an early copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is a beautiful and colourful children's activity book. Each page focuses on a different colour and contains a series of objects hidden within the large, mosaic-inspired pictures, just like the ones in the cover. Think of an easier version of finding Wally.
I love that the puzzles are separated by colour, so it can be used to teach colours to a toddler. It also looks great for kids sharing it and helping each other find the objects. Note that it's meant for small kids, otherwise they'll find the objects quickly and they'll finish the book too quickly.
I received an eARC of this book free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thanks!
This looks like a fun book for young children. Each two page spread features one color and one shape, along with pictures of small objects that are hidden in the mosaic-like illustration. I can happily imagine going through this book with a child; I am certain that we would both enjoy it!
A wonderfully colorful and fun story book. My boys loved reading this and finding the objects. Bright and colorful pictures make this a win for children.
CAN YOU FIND IT? by Surya Sjnani is a search-and-find tool; an important children's book. Large, captivating and intriguing, thought by the creators of Wee Gallery, each page is colored in a special way: we find red, purple, green, grey, etc; toddlers are encouraged to recognize the hidden objects within the page. It is a stimulating book this one and, implied, it contains a game that it is appreciated at every age: "Can you Find It?"
This simple, yet delightful book will provide hours entertainment for fans of hidden-object books, young and old. It introduces children to various day-to-day objects, as well as shapes and colours. Children as young as one are likely to be drawn to its colourful pages, while older children will be able to carefully scan each page looking for the items shown on the opposite page and describing what else they can see. It also introduces children to the concept of mosaics. The only thing that bothered me was that the items and shapes had quite abstract, pointy forms and were therefore quite removed from reality.
So colorful and fun! Its like I spy for 8-10 year olds. This was a great and innovative kids books for teaching them colors, shapes and developing some of their abilities by recognizing similar things and finding things!
