A colorful guide to office life as written by a lively and frustrated red panda. Aggretsuko is all the RAGE. Sanrio's newest character is a 25-year-old red panda with her own Netflix show, and a stressful work life that's all too relatable. Featuring art from the popular videos and Sanrio products combined with sidebars and prescriptive tips and advice for handling tricky workplace situations, this is a humorous and gifty book.
- The first character Sanrio created specifically for adults, Aggretsuko is both a cute, endearing red panda just going about her life, and the fed up office worker who's tired of being pushed around. - In this helpful handbook, Aggretsuko offers tips on how to deal with annual holiday parties, avoid colleagues after hours, circumvent oversharing coworkers, and most importantly–how to RAGE (preferably in heavy-metal karaoke sessions). - A must-have for anyone who needs help staying sane from 9 to 5.

I accidentally stumbled on this book during my weekly trip to Tattered Cover, and I consumed it immediately. For those who don't know, Aggretsuko is basically about being a (female) peon in the corporate world, of which I am myself, and so it's one of those shows I relate to harder than anything else. Naturally, I had to see what this book was all about.
It's more of the same as what you get from the Netflix show, except less... charm, I guess? It does contain some good advice on how to survive the corporate world, some of which I already figured out for myself after being a part of it for almost ten years now, some of which I needed to read and/or relearn. It's cute, though! Just nothing really to write home about; you're better off with the Netflix show.
Aggretsuko will probably be one of my favorite animes given how utterly realistic it can be, sometimes to a soul-shattering degree. This office guide reminded me about what I love so much about this anime: that even if the life you have isn't the one you want, you can still enrich yourself, you can still be BETTER, and push forward to a future you can be proud of. Fans of the anime will definitely like this little coffee table compilation of season 1! I know I sure did.
The office cartoon has come a long way since "Dilbert." This office worker red panda is equal doses cute and rage. She dispenses sarcasm-laden work advice about how to survive in the white-collar world. I think a lot of people would glance at this and assume it's for children, but it is not--and not just because of the cursing and drinking. I'm going to guess very few children are interested in reading about the inter-office politics of corporate employment.
Aaaah it's such a cute book! It's really is just a guide on how to survive the unpleasant situations that arise when working at an office that's narrated by Retsuko. This means that there are some sassy scenarios (loved when Tsunoda kept on trapping Retsuko in the doors of the elevator), as well as metal- and rage-filled solutions. It doesn't tease or spoil anything about the show except that there are a couple of new characters who are drawn in -- could they be potential new characters on the show? Only time will tell! There are so many fun illustrations all throughout though--very enjoyable!
The worst part of the book is that Gori (my life) is only pictured once. Too sad!
It's a great gift for anyone who loves the show, but not a necessary read overall :)
Unfortunately, this book has been thrown together hastily in order to ride the bandwagon. Some of the editing is absolutely shocking and none of the chapters seem to flow properly. For example, Page 70 contains the phrase "Look back to our Rules for Happy Hour List on Page 78", but the list is actually on Page 74... There's a few other typos here and there too.
It's a really cute idea and I am a massive Aggretsuko fan, but this book just... hasn't been proof-read and doesn't really fit the same feel as the show. At all.
The Aggretsuko Guide to Office Life by Sanrio shows relatable office annoyances. These comics will help you find humor in your work environment. Aggretsuko is an entry level office worker. She does her best to maintain a meek, agreeable, and professional demeanor while holding in her inner rage.
I got this as a Christmas present and it's so cute. It's definitely a joke but the illustrations are great. I'm not sure if this was translated or if the American division decided to publish something separate from Japan, but I thought the tone wasn't quite Retsuko. It could be that it was in Japanese first and whoever translated the book thought that was how she sounded? It's not supposed to be taken seriously so there weren't any high expectations going in and it was about what I expected.
I could easily be Aggretsuko... the office worker who needs to vent Tec... this book stays true to the anime series and the artwork and story is spot on. It does touch a lot on events that were brought up I the show so if you've seen the animation you'll understand the book better.
So hard to rate! Loved the illustrations and seeing my favorite characters from the show. Very funny for those who deal with office environments and the daily grind. Some of the humor and narration sounded a bit more Americanized than the show and didn’t have the same Japanese humor or Japanese specific issues addressed in the show. Good gift for fans of the show and your geek office friends.
The style reminded me of a bit like Scott Adams's Dilbert Principle, wherein chapters have comics scattered through them as they discuss work culture. Though, this was much shorter and traded some general relatability to be more tied to the show than a person's general office experience. Fans of the show may like it as a quick read, but I didn't feel there was much there.
It lacks the humor of the anime (or comics, for that matter) and just comes off as more of the same white-collar snark available in a hundred other places. It also seems to have been written by someone who didn't know the source material well; they refer to the buffalo as Retsuko's boss and Ton as her co-worker.
Beautiful artwork for fans of the show (such as myself), but the writing was mostly bland and seemed to lack a voice that matched Retsuko's character. This is understandable, but it means the book is better meant for the most ardent fans of the show looking only for more Aggretsuko art.
Cute, with semi-practical advice on surviving the phase of life that is twenty-something office work drudgery. It made me smile and chuckle internally at points, and is a breeze to get through (seriously, I read it within 20 minutes).
Maybe it was the fault of mine from not having read from this Sanrio character before, but I was expecting more office place jokes, all I really got from this was sort of bland insight from an imagined metal-head and it wasn't really for me.
Cute book and relatable to anyone who works in an office setting - even if it’s not a traditional one. I’ll probably purchase a hard copy to keep at work to laugh at with some co workers.
