Jade is a college student and for an assignment she goes to the wrong side of town for a paper she needs to write. She never expected to see Leon and his gang especially not doing illegal stuff. Leon sees her run but never gives it another thought until she comes back to his side of town again. Unable to believe it he follows her and warns her away and they end up having lunch. Knowing that she wasn't going to listen to him and the fact that he couldn't stop thinking about her has him going to find her. Leon takes Jade on some adventures and the slowly fall in love but life always seems to get in the way and they get separated. Leon on disappears from his neighborhood his family with him. When he is fortunate enough to get offered a way out of there and a better life. Jade ends up in NYC as a writer and gets the chance to interview someone that never has given an interview she never expects it to be the young guy she loved all those years before. Leon can't believe that this interview thing has brought Jade back into his life. Leon is called Midas because of how good he is at his job. He does know one thing he won't let Jade slip through his fingers this time.

This is an amazing love story about a second chance for lovers after years have past. The love endured through the years of separation and made for something stronger than before for these two people. The chemistry between them sizzle from within the pages. This was a well written story with relatable characters.

This story has more layers than a Texas Sweet onion...

On the surface, we’ve got a fun story of the naïve college coed who lets her passion for writing a good story lead her into places she just shouldn’t be. Enter the bad boy with a heart of gold who becomes her knight in shining armor. His plan is simple: get her out of danger, then scare her enough that she never wants to come back to this dangerous neighborhood. Unfortunately she’s developed a taste for adventure, and has an incredible stubborn streak.

Against all odds, a romance develops between Jade, who grew up in a nice neighborhood, drives a great car, and has Daddy paying all the bills for her, and Leon, who lives in his dysfunctional family home in a bad part of town, and works security for a drug dealer. But all is not what it immediately seems. Jade is deeper than many people including Leon, expect. She’s not only smart and driven, she’s compassionate and has a bold heart for fairness. Leon also has more going on than many might think. He’s actually quite brilliant and business minded. In fact, the only reason he’s working for the dope dealer is to pay his tuition for his business degree so that he can finally get his mom and little brother away from his abusive drunkard of a father. Leon, it seems, is not only a man with a goal in mind, he’s the kind of man who makes sure that those he loves are taken care of at all cost. Jade, however, was not aware of Leon’s amazing integrity. He kept his family life a closely guarded secret.

While Jade and Leon’s passion burned brightly, it wasn’t given the chance to burn terribly long. Fate stepped in, as it so often does, and they found themselves torn apart by circumstances that just couldn’t be overcome. But since this is a second chance romance, we know what’s coming, right? Sure, but that’s only the outer layer…

So what exactly is this story about? It’s definitely a second chance, single dad romance (love it). But it’s so much more. It’s about integrity, honor, perseverance, and authenticity. Hmmm… as I write that, it sure doesn’t look very sexy in print. Yet, aren’t these traits we want and expect in our lovers? As for sexy, I can guarantee you that Jade and Leon can bring a pretty good heat to this combo that will make you believe it’s flamin’ hot. Leon’s been given his second chance with Jade, and he knows what to do with it this time around.

As I mentioned at the outset, this story has many layers to it. You can enjoy a simple second chance romance with a single daddy component—it’s a nice read that way. But don’t miss the opportunity to dig a little deeper and take a look at the depth in these characters; see how they grow and change over the years, what’s really important to them and whether that stands the test of time. This story satisfies on more than one level. Sure, it’s got great passion with Jade and Leon. They both crackle with an intensity not only for great sex, but for life in general. It’s also got astounding heart, deep emotion, and profound hope.

Taking Another Chance

Leon & Jade have a short fling in college. Both are from opposite sides of the spectrum. He's the poor, but smart, bad boy who dabbles in the drug world to earn fast money. She comes from a rich family who doesn't know the first thing about how the other people live until she's caught witnessing a drug deal & Leon takes this opportunity to scare her, enough to keep her out of the bad neighborhood & to be safe. Like the moth to a flame, she keeps coming back & their feelings become deeper until she witnesses him doing the unthinkable. Moving forward, years later, their paths cross again in New York, only this time the roles are reversed. She's the struggling author & he's the rags to riches successful businessman. Will Jade be able to forgive Leon from what happened in the past & move forward with a HEA with Leon?

I would consider this as a novella & giving you the head's up, the author builds up on the early beginnings of their relationship. Read the whole story & do not give up on this author's novel. I believe there is potential on expanding this into a full novel & fill in the grey areas of "what ever happened with or to ...?" Once I got past the college times, I enjoyed the rest of the novella & how Jade & Leon evolved into a never-ending love together.

J.J. Bella has written a beautiful steamy second-chance romance that captivated me from the first to last page. This story revolves around Jade a beautiful wealthy college student and Leon a gorgeous but poor college student and gang member. Jade is stumped when she has to write a story about an interesting place that she has visited. Her life is pretty boring so her roommate suggests she take a walk on the wild side of town. While there she witnesses a drug deal and sees Leon. He approaches her when she returns to the bad part of town and warns her about the dangers. The chemistry between the them is too hot to deny and a romance soon develops. Circumstances and misunderstandings break them apart. Eight years later Jade hasn't become a successful writer but instead is interviewing “Midas” a financial whiz. Guess who Midas is. Leon of course. The feelings they had for each other are still there. Can they revive their lost relationship? If you're looking for an excellent plot, with steamy sex, some twists and turns and of course romance, “Taking it All” is for you. Give it a try. You won't be disappointed.

J.J. Bella never ceases to amaze and this book is no exception. this was a great story, well written with complex and interesting characters. A great second chance romance that puts together a wealthy college student with a gang member from the wrong side of the tracks. It continues as they part ways and are reunited years later when she interviews him. The chemistry is still there and explosive. An emotional roller coaster and a page turner. This book will grab your attention right at the beginning and keep you page turning until the end. A great read. I read this book via Booksprout and voluntarily chose to write a review.

Ms. Bella's work is always above the extraordinary. This second chance novel is just that. It was so delightfully sweet, that I am still smiling at how entranced I was with this story. It was a story about how even the most trying of starts can provide a stunning result at the end. Also that love has no boundaries even when it comes to time and circumstances. I loved the intensity of this story. 5 STAR QUALITY

Jade is a middle-class girl who meets bad boy Leon when Walking around the bad parts of town to get Input for her writing assessment. While he wants to get rid of her asap, she loves that he pushes her out of her comfort Zone every time they meet. It's no surprise that they end up being a college couple but that changes spontaneously one night. When they meet again 8 years later, the story was a bit too similiar to "Having it all" that I've read before tbh, with her moving into his apartment, him being a dad etc. Nevertheless it was a good read.

Jade, a freshman at the University of Iowa, goes to the “wrong” part of town trying to get something to write about for a class. Leon, a gang member, catches sight of Jade when she tumbles some boxes over after witnessing a deal between Leon's gang and another gang. As the story progresses we learn that some things lead you further down, some things can be forgotten, and some things can be overcome.

This was just an ok read for me. I really connect or click with Jade or Leon. The story was well written, and flowed though.
