Hold My Heart

Rate this book
The last thing Chloe Savage needs is a boyfriend. Fiercely independent and struggling with unexplainable health issues, Chloe is determined to get her own place and strive for contentment on her own, without the help of any guy.

Travis Goldman’s dream is to become a bestselling author. Eschewing self-publishing, he is ready to submit his young adult fantasy manuscript to eager agents.

When they meet at a Bible study, sparks don’t exactly fly. Chloe is attending out of a desire to please her grandmother, and, if she must admit, out of her own (mild) curiosity. Travis thrives off the excitement of socializing with many people, and of delving a little deeper into the Bible. But the more he gets to know Chloe Savage the more he realizes she is a lot like the heroine in his book, and the girl of his dreams.

Whitney, Chloe’s quirky new friend with an adorable Australian accent, can see that Chloe and Travis are perfect for each other, but Chloe is determined to keep Travis at arm’s length. That is, until the unthinkable happens….

I am new to Nikki Larson ... I have now read both of these 2 reads from the Laguna Beach Series ... who doesn't love a beach read when it is so cold outdoors ... don't get me wrong i love each and every season ... but at times i wish that we could just enjoy spring and fall ... my 2 faves ...but i know better ... we need each and every season for the most popular growth and development ...not only in our lives, but veggies and farming purposes ... okay ... i must say ... that i loved book 2 a bit more than this read ... i prefer that cover over this one ... If you know Beth ... Beth loves mysteries ... i have been asked many times over ... i am a religious person ... i was raised within the Methodist church ... my Mom was Baptist ... and at times i hear that they may return to the Baptist church ... that is a decision for us all ... i am still looking ... but know I love Christian reads ... I don't get the opportunity to check them out often .. 'cause apparently many are not out there ... or maybe folks are more timid in doing so??!! i don't know. I appreciate it and enjoy reading it. I guess the point being that you have to write what you wanna see ...maybe that is why Nikki wrote these reads? (I often wonder ... do other people scare away from these reads 'cause they think that the author will preach or push their Godly thoughts on them? curious??!) i have no clue ... I have not even asked ... but it does make me curious? well written, great characters. great plot, well thought out. believable and enjoyable to read. I look forward to more from Nikki soon enough. Wishing her all the best now and in the future!!

I really enjoyed this book it had lovely bible quotes and I liked the realness of the characters. It’s about Chloe a independent, selfish (hey we all can be selfish at times) Christian women who is strong and has her difficulties and health to deal with but she sets out saying that she doesn’t need a boyfriend she thinks that God should be enough to satisfy her needs she thinks she has her life planned out she wants everything in her life to be perfect. But God has better plans for her. But then as she gets to know Travis from her bible study group and the more she gets to know him the more her feelings towards everything change. This book has many messages such as to praise God when things are going well and still praise God when things aren’t going your way even though it’s difficult, that’s when we need God the most through the tough times. I liked Travis, I felt for him through his extremely difficult time. This is a lovely Christian Story and it’s not just a love story it’s more than that I would differently read again as I found it hard to put down. One thing that disappointed me was the ending it was to abrupt and needed more detail for that reason it lost one star.

2,5* - not really my kind of romance

I gave this book a chance and read it till the end. At the beginning I couldn't at all connect with the characters and be involved in the story. Around 25% of the book I finally get a glimpse of the chapter that kept me reading further but then I really just couldn't get on board with the story and characters. I finished the book. While I understand the concept of the story I just didn't find anything described in the blurb, the blurb that in the first place made me to start reading this book. Maybe this type of writing is just not my style. There are twists and turns in the story that made it a little bit interesting but I have an impression the plot was not really thought through. I was confused and I didn't see the connection between two main characters, couldn't find romance there. This is a good try but maybe needs a little bit of more work.

Chloe is suffering from so many aches and pains. Her immune system is a mess, and having autoimmune diseases is not an easy thing to deal with. But she is determined not to be dependent on anyone! Her faith in God is guiding her. Travis comes to one of the bible classes and there is instant chemistry. But neither of them is ready for a relationship. Or are they? Nikki Larson writes a wonderful love story. Her characters are real, have relevant issues and let us take their journey through life. Chloe at times is frustrating, very demanding but I like that she is aware of her issues. Travis is a sweet man, and I love how his problems are eventually dealt with together. This is a good listen, brings realistic problems to light and is a wonderful love story.

Lorana Hoopes gives a fantastic narrative to the story. She is in tune with the characters and brings their personalities to life. I enjoy her voices and always look forward to her performances.

This is a review of the audiobook. I think the narrator is really great. I enjoyed her voice & characterization of the people in the book. I received a free copy from the author. I did not really enjoy this story. Chloe seems rather childish, rambles a lot. I did not connect with her. Travis is nice but doesn't seem to know how to control his life until Chloe sets his father straight near the end of the book. Travis says to Chloe "No one has ever talked to my father like that". Not sure what their ages are supposed to be. I received a free copy from the author. This is my honest, voluntary opinion.

The story has great potential. But it was very disjointed. Some places it jumps ahead without any resolution to issues that arise between characters and other places it’s very wordy & had me skimming past the unnecessary parts. There was no resolution to Chloe’s sudden relief of health issues. There was no resolution to Travis’ psych issues. Did he ever get a job? Did he ever reconcile with his parents? The ending was also very abrupt. It was like reading an early draft of a story that still needs to be fleshed out & polished. I think if the author would do this, the book would be great.

Hold My Heart is a sweet, clean Christian romance that is well written. It explores and briefly educates the reader on mental illness and the stereotypes/prejudices related to it. It also touches on the difficulties of living with autoimmune related illnesses. I appreciate when a book can pull off entertainment and education within a wonderful storyline. I love the emphasis of relying on God in good times and bad with scriptures the reader can refer back to.
I received an ARC of this book and have chosen to give my honest opinion.

Enjoyed reading this story! The lead character had physical problems to deal with but she tried to always look on the bright side! The young man that was interested in her was interested in attending church and getting to know her. I received an Arc of this book and am giving my thoughts on how the book was received by me! I enjoyed the book very much and recommend it to anyone who enjoys romance!

Chloe focusing and struggling day by day. To please her grandmother and curiosity she goes to a bible study. For Travis he loves to go deeper into Bible study. A writer and Chloe fits his dream girl. They are young, have goals and issues, can a love come about to share life with. Good YA type book.

The book had its moments, just not enough good ones for me. Didn't care for the direction the story took a little more than half way through the book. The faith part was my favorite, without that I might have rated the book lower.

I enjoyed bits and pieces of this. Author dealt with a lot of issues and due to that some of it felt undone. I did enjoy the scripture text and Christian based of the book.

I received a free copy and have left my honest review.

A little better each day

This was a well told story, though it was a little heavier than what I usually read. It does pick up in the second half and has a sweet happily-ever-after.

*Clean romance level: sweet kisses, nothing graphic

This was a sweet, clean romance. What a great book to listen to. The story kept my attention on Chloe & Travis’ journey. When you least expect it, you find love, as the saying goes. Lorana Hoopes does a fantastic job narrating.

From tragic beginning to happy ending

This was a sweet story. I would have given another star, but the errors that spellcheck can't correct were annoying.

I didn’t really connect with the characters. So many issues are covered in the story but the plot seems convoluted and undeveloped.
