Rate this book
This volume is a comprehensive study of parentification in the family―children who fulfill the role of parents to their own parents or to their siblings, almost always at the expense of their own development. The book is divided into two theory and research and contextual perspectives.

Let the simple title not fool you. This is a compilation of 10 academically written essays in an attempt to give you a intricate view of parentification .I highly advise to get first well versed in psychological concepts(true vs false self, self differentiation, object relations, individuation ,coherent self and fragmentation of self)and theories before reading this book so you can get the most of it.Overall a fantastic read but not enough if you want to truly grasp of what it means to be parentified.I think this book is more of a bridge to gaining high level understanding of the concept. But once you get the grasp of the it you cannot overlook the parentified or pseudoadults around you and the tendencies and characteristics that you yourself may embody.
