When Sky decided not to join our pack, I thought that would be the end of our dealings with the enigmatic wolf. But she’s pulled back into pack business when Sky’s the first one on the scene of a murder attempt of one of our pack members.

At first, I mark it off as a coincidence but I'm proven wrong.

After more attacks are made on the pack and assassins go after the vampires, Chris, my ex, discovers a link between Sky and the person behind the attacks.

I knew there was more to Sky than meets the eye, that she’s a magnet for trouble and a danger to my pack and herself, but I’m not convinced she’s the person we are looking for.

When it comes to eliminating threats, the pack and the vampires believe in no mercy. Now, I have to find the mastermind behind the attacks and prove that Sky isn’t involved to protect her from the vampires.

Darkness Unveiled is Ethan’s POV of Darkness Unchained (Sky Brooks Series: Book 2) with added scenes and storylines. It can be read alone, but reading Darkness Unchained first will enhance your reading experience.

McKenzie Hunter is the author of urban fantasy, dark fantasy, and paranormal romance books. She discovered early that new adventures were just a page-turn away; all she had to do was read a book. She’s had her share of escapades from hanging out with vamps, joining the chaos of shifter packs, creating spells with witches, and avoiding deals with the fae.

When she isn't working on her next book, she’s reading, binge-watching TV, or disappearing into her own world during nature walks (probably on the lookout for magical beings—or maybe not).

So many realizations and revelations here including the fact that Ethan saw what Chris was trying to do to Demetrius during the Ethos battle. Now I know why he's so adamant to let Chris die instead of letting her become a vamp. He still appeared too cruel on that part though. 🥲 He noticed SO many things that it now made sense why he knows too much. He also stalked Skylar SO many times it was nuts. LOL

I've been waiting for this book for. . it feels like my whole life hehe. . And a lot of the time I find when you ramp up a book so much in my head I end up getting disappointed in some way. . . . . .This was not the case with Ethan's Book 2.

I didn't know how I would feel about this one because Chris is featured a fair bit in it. I don't know what it was, but I just didn't care. She's not my favourite character and I didn't feel any hatred for her in this book which is big for me haha.

Again Emerson delves straight into the mind of Ethan and I didn't think he could get better, and not because he doesn't have the ability to, but because I didn't think it was possible, but he did. He has raised the bar for himself and just backhanded me square across the face with the books awesofabtasublimeuperness - not a word, but it deserves a better word than just awesome. . . .

I was hooked from the first page, aaaaall the way to the last page and practically read it all in one sitting. You get a real understanding of Ethan's actions and decisions and right into that noggin of his, which I really needed haha. I was taken on an emotional rollercoaster ride. I was angry, upset, scared and when Ethan was nasty to Sky I was so affected by it that I felt like he was actually saying those things to me! It's not often I can read a book and fully immerse myself to the point that I am that emotionally affected by something that happens. And that is a real testament again to Emerson's ability as a writer.

My face was practically part of the phone my head was so close when I read the action scenes - they were a rippa (awesome). There is no moment throughout this book where you think, uuuggggh BOOOORING. The action is action packed, the little scenes in between still give you something to hold onto and go oooooo - these are usually scenes where Ethan isn't in them in Darkness Unchained - the emotionally charged scenes grab onto you like you owe it money and don't let you go. I loved reading about Ethan's reactions to certain things, especially with Sky and Quell and getting a bit more of Gavin and their ummm. . . whatever their relationship is with each other. I can't hate Gavin - I don't know what it is but he's just. . . I love him and definitely want to see more of him. . .

Reading more of Gavin, Steven, Sebastian and the others was just such a wonderful thing and it pieces everything together and wraps it up in a neat little package. When I finished I had no words, I just said wow" and sat there, and if I hadn't read it on my laptop, I would have hugged my kindle like a weirdo and just lie there staring off into space. . . Cause that's what normal people do right?? hahahaha. I'm in a serious book hangover now. . . I kinda don't know what to do with myself.

I can't thank Mckenzie enough for deciding to give us readers Ethan's POV and I can't thank Emerson enough for the spectacular job he has done. . Between the two series and both writers, they have given me the ability to have the book play out in my head like a movie - I can visualise it so much better than before because of the two POV's.

It's going to kill me to have to wait for book three and I seriously don't know how I'm going to do it. I'm already getting antsy!!

What a douche

Ethan is as much of a douche as ever. He has some good moment but most of the time he is barely able to stay calm and flies off the handle for every little thing. I was astonished at how deep his stalking goes.

There are still mysteries that have not been solved. Ethan's ability to do magic and the Mouras that are guardians of objects like the necklace from the last book. It will be interesting how they handle the witches.

Different perspective

So I will be the first to admit that I did not like the last Sky Brooks novel. Too much Chris, to the point that I felt like I was getting hit over the head how she was doing the best she could, she's not that bad, blah, blah, blah. I still did not like her and instead, walked away liking her and Ethan less. This book, given Ethan's point of view, put an entirely new spin on everything that happened. Instead of the relationship building book that Darkness Unchanged seemed to be. Instead, from Ethan's POV, it was a one time mistake that he wasn't going to let happen again. We will see how these differing POVs will impact the story with future interactions.

I have always felt that Ethan was a jerk to sky. But when you read Ethans pov you see a different side to him and get a better understanding. In this book, you learn more about his relationship with Chris. Ethan has a lot to hide, and you start to discover more in this book. I really enjoy reading from his pov.

Ummm

I was iffy about reading this book. Book two in the original Sky Brooks series was my least favorite. I think the same will be said for Ethan’s POV. Ethan is a bit creepy in a way I never noticed in the original series or in book one of his POV. He’s borderline stalker. He’s practically obsessed which is not how I saw him before. His every other thought is about Sky making me not like him as much. I did enjoy that this book didn’t linger around following Sky as some other POV series have done. At the same time there was barely any interaction between him and Sky, but considering the original series was written partially in Chris’s Pov it’s understandable. We saw a new angle to the original story. I got annoyed with all the recapping but I understand it’s a necessary evil for all those who might not have read the original series or for those who might have forgotten.

Emerson Knight worked some awesome magic on this book. He managed to seamlessly tie together the Sky Brooks POV storyline with Ethan's and yet I felt that I was reading a whole new book with its own surprises. It wasn't just a retelling of McKenzie Hunter's story; it was Ethan's story, a fuller, deeper view into who Ethan is, how he thinks and why he does the things he does.

I love that Ethan is still Ethan, but we can definitely think better of him. If you loved him even when you thought him a jerk, you will absolutely HEAD OVER HEELS LOVE HIM NOW.

The writing just flowed, so engaging, fun and the revelation of Ethan's motives were just wonderful and insightful.

I can definitely say that anyone who read the Sky Brooks POV and was dissatisfied with just how much of an obstacle Chris represented in that 2nd book, you will LOVE reading Ethan's POV. Happy face and happy dance guaranteed.

I am looking forward to the audiobook.

Another great book

This is the second book in the Sky Brooks series written from Ethan's point of view. I am glad we get to see more of Ethan's character. We really come to understand what drives him. I have learned to like this character more from these books than I did from the Sky Brooks series.

The events are the same just told from Ethan's point of view with added behind the scenes not in the original story. This adds to the storyline and keeps the book interesting. I am ready for the next installment.

Secret guardian

This is the same story but in ethans mind of what he saw.so the story is the same but you see stuff sky did not see or what was really going on with Chris and Ethan.I like Ethan not so much when we witnessed him from skylars mind.but not all is what it seams and like I said on my first review its a slow burn romance. But the oh Chris is so hot don't see sky in the room.just feels so wrong if she is his mate would he be lusting after Chris.it feels like sky is a after thought.

I like MLs POVs but why did we have to go through the entire book again just from Ethans POV?

Yes, it's cool to see some parallel to Skys book, however we already know the players, the culprit and the outcome. I don't think it warrants rehashing from Ethans view in a book just as long as the original.

Would have been perfectly alright to skim over the story and just see Ethan and his creepy stalker self condenced into a little novella.

Good Read

I like being able to read more behind Ethan's Posturing and begin to understand/ know him (& the pack nuances) a bit more than you do with Just Reading Skylars' version.
This is a Great book to read Simultaneously with one another at the same time.
As always a Interesting world, with Characters you begin to like, or love to hate. Looking forward for Reading the rest of series as writer does well in keeping you needing more.

Amazing

I highly recommend this book... I couldn't turn the pages fast enough!!! Emerson did an amazing job yet again!! I know that this book in the Sky Brooks series a lot of the fans weren't so happy with it but this book answers a lot of questions and especially why certain actions were made. DEFINITELY A MUST READ!!!

Wow

All I can say is wow. Another wonderful book. You really can not tell that Ethans POV is written by a different author. I loved this book. I love Ethan and Sky. What is not to love about this book? I really like seeing the otherside of how Ethan feels. Its nice to see him so unsure.

Really good!

It's interesting reading things from Ethan perspective. Sky would be surprised at how much Ethan has done to protect her! Though I'd skipped parts because I already knew what happened from reading Sky's version. It's still worth reading to get Ethan's side of the story. 😀

Great Way of Reading The Other Side....

Love how Ethan's POV fills in the gaps from what Skylar thinks she knows when she's grasping at straws and she's totally off her mark. I'm so glad to see, and now to know, why he's not such a d!ck after all; and why he is the way he is.
On to the next! #HappyReading ❤

Excellent

I love this story but not thrilled about the two books with different views. You know sky has some missing parts so you have to read his view... grrrr. It’s not surprising because you already know the story line. But I will suffer and go back and read his first book to find out why he kisses sky and then pushes her away. Big gap missing !!

The story kept you on your toes

Ironically, I enjoyed this story a lot more than Skylar's. Being able to understand Ethan's point of view helps. Not really that much more complex as of yet outside of his constant anger. 🙄 But Skyler's story was very slow and a little hard to follow at times. I am excited to read the next few books from Ethan's perspective.

Im truly Enjoying Ethan’s POV’s everything makes sense in his eyes , all the secret things you were wondering what he was thinking in Sky’s pov to just have everything up front now just makes the turn of events better (if that makes sense lol) I love how much he Secreatly cares for Skylar i can’t wait for the next book because that’s when things with him and Sky heat up.

Ok, so I hate to say this but the story felt a bit disappointing. It is written well, which is to be expected, but it just fell a bit flat. I was waiting for a bit more but ended up still waiting. I’ll wait for Sky’s story to continue, but just not excited about the next Ethan POV.

It's not always greener on the other side.

Ethan and Sky have secrets to kind from themselves and others.
Follow them as they tread the darkness of dark magic, vampires and the life of the pack.

3 out of 5 stars.

I thought this book offered a more well-rounded telling of Ethan’s point of view. It offered a little more of Ethan’s life outside of what we saw from Skylar’s point of view (unlike the first book, which I thought was pretty similar to Skylar’s POV).

Love it

What a great companion novel. Love seeing things from a different perspective. Ethan is totally into Skylar in some way, but I just can't put my finger on the connection type. Oh it's getting good. Next book in the series, please?!

***spoilerish***This is the story of an a hypocrite who stalks, spys on, withholds information that’s not his to decide what to do with and constantly sleeps with another woman while snapping at his would be love interest. Then at one point after all this has a convo in his head where he feels said would be love interest isn’t being honest so she’s on her own to die. What an awesome romantic lead!!

This gave me the insight I needed while reading Darkness Unchained. At this point I still don't understand Ethan as he is struggling with his past relationship and his current interest.......I also liked how it references the other book without retelling the whole story...

An unexpected story

After seeing how book 2 from Skylar's perspective went, I must say that what Ethan was really up to wasn't what I expected. He's still a jerk, but I'm fully invested in seeing where things go.
