The Freemasons - The Mysterious Roots of Freemasonry: Hidden Truths of History’s Most Notorious Secret Society

Rate this book
The Freemasons, history's most mysterious secret society! A worldwide conspiracy, a shadowy cabal, a secret sect, or just a misunderstood organization? Who really are the Freemasons? Let's find out!

Who really rules the world?According to some people, a shadowy cabal of hidden men rule over the world governments from behind the scenes. These invisible puppets masters are tied into conspiracy theories across the world, taking in everything from the assassination of John F. Kennedy to the attack on New York on September the 11th, 2001. Typically, if you trace these conspiracies back far enough, you will come across one name. The Freemasons.

But who exactly are the Freemasons? Believe in the conspiracies and you might well assume that they are responsible for every major geopolitical decision and event that takes pace. But to others, they are simply a sort of gentlemen's club, a social group that does a lot of good work in the community. In this book, we take a different approach.

Where did the Freemasons come from? Here, we will examine the links between the Freemasons and another of history's most famous organizations, the Knights Templar.

Could the Templars have laid the foundations of the Freemasons? Did they set up the secret society to extract revenge for their demise? Did they inspire an English rebellion simply to destroy their enemies? Over the course of many centuries, we will try to find the evidence that demonstrates the links between these two organizations.

Simply because they are so very secret, people are liable to project their beliefs onto the hidden group. But, in this book, we will try and focus on the facts. Sometimes, these facts can be far more shocking than the theories. Read on and discover the secret truths of the ancient Freemasons.

More of a summary history of the Knights Templar than an insight into the freemasons.

Very superficial treatment, as evidenced by its length and the scarcity of sources. Seems Bauer combined a bunch of other books, agreed there is no evidence but it sure could be, and wrote a treatise. It's a slightly different tack from most others of the type, but nothing really new. If you're expecting a real study of the roots, this is not the book for you. If you want a broad-brush overview, go for it.

This book would also benefit from a copyeditor. Misplaced antecedents, misuse of commas and semicolons, and incorrect and inconsistent apostrophe usage plague the manuscript.

Felt cheated

Please do not waste your time reading this book. The book talks almost entirely about the knights templar (the obvious facts, nothing special about them as well) and brings the word free mason from time to time to remind you that the title is free masons. I don’t mind people writing a bad book, but deceiving the reader with a false title is a serious crime. Just wasted a few hours from my life.

Informative book relating the origin of the Freemasons with the Knights Templar. Interesting historical facts and possible ties between both organizations. It does focus a lot on history and the Templars. Do not expect a mistery novel like Angels and Demons or the like. I wanted to add this comment after seeing other readers' reviews... The fact that the book is part of a Secret Societies collection might be misleading about it's contents.

One of many books tying the Masons and the Templars

I have read many a book on these two groups. The author does a good job of not focusing on their demise and covers many of other possibilities without detailing the whys and when's. Although it's broken down in time frames, the author has done a good job working with time frames

Where are the Facts?

This is more about the Knights Templar than the Freemasons. This book seems to not be based on any facts or documentation but undocumented history (which he mentions often) and circumstantial evidence. Wikipedia is probably a better source if this topic truly interests you. I've never been so bored reading something this short before.

Read this short book just out of curiosity. Apparently there is a lot of history that goes into explaining Freemasonry origins.

An interesting history

This book raises a lot of questions about the origin of Freemasonry. There are a number of coincidences that could be looked in to. It is very intriguing.

Don’t waste your time or money on this book. There is very little helpful information in this book about how masonry was started.
