A collection of the best of the very best from Rowan magazine in honor of the company's 40th anniversary.
Featuring the work of such renowned knitwear designers as Kaffe Fassett, Martin Storey, Louisa Harding, and Sarah Hatton, 40 Years celebrates the magazine’s legacy with gorgeous sweaters, cardigans, wraps, and more. While it offers a gallery of covers, never-before-seen images from the original magazines, and a brief history, half of the designs have been knit again using modern colors and newly photographed with updated styling to prove Rowan’s designs are as fashionable today as they were years or decades ago. Every knitter will turn to this book for patterns and inspiration.
The designs in this book are gorgeous, but some seem fairly challenging. Definitely a great book for an experienced knitter, or the knitter who loves to dream of big projects! Most of the garments are also just sized small to extra large, a rare few extending to extra small, but a few more up to 2x. For the lack of size inclusivity, I give it 4/5. Otherwise this is a gorgeous book with beautiful designs; lots of colorwork & yummy texture to enjoy!
Lovely but also a little thin? Not much text and sadly the one pattern I was really hoping for wasn't included. Still 40 beautiful patterns and beautiful photography.
I think this book confirms Rowan is not really my style. I did enjoy looking through and found 1 pattern I want to study more carefully to see how it's constructed. I'm sure confirmed Rowan fans will love this book...
I am so excited about this! 20 designs are the originals. 20 are photographed anew with the design being knit in new yarns and/or colors. Rowan designs are classic and timeless. This book is fantastic!
The wast majority of older design have better construction than the “redone” versions. I wish they just posted old designs and made them with contemporary yarns
