Fly the flag for maximalism—bring playful patterns, bold prints and vivid colors into your home with Emily Henson’s new book Be Bold .Interiors trends for 2018 include strong, saturated color and rich jewel tones. According to Pinterest, statement ceilings are in vogue and statement art is the next big thing, while trend forecasters predict that dramatic textures such as velvet and concrete are making a comeback. In Be Bold , Emily embraces this individual, free-spirited look and shows how to translate it to any home.In the first section, ‘Decorate like no-one’s watching’, chapters such as ‘More is More, ‘Pattern Riot’, and ‘Paint it Bold’, are brimming with inspiration plus easy ideas to recreate in your own home. In the second half, 'Trailblazers', discover homes with adventurous, spirited styling that will inspire you to decorate with confidence. These are interiors for those who love colour, pattern and adventure.
Go Bold or Go Home! I loved the variety of examples in this book. The different home spaces shows that there is not only one way to go bold in color or pattern choices. The images are crisp and showcase super cool home spaces. Henson was super friendly and made it sound super okay to try different ideas with your home.
So fun, do-able ideas, and lots of inspiration. I had to use sticky notes and my camera to capture the many ideas that popped up (it was a library book); had a lot of fun looking into the homes and reading about the key design features (and tips) the author picked up on. It sparked my own ideas, too.
I love Emily Henson's other books - this one not as much. Many of the photos repeated-which I hate in any medium (book or video). And, just when I felt engrossed in a home's story, she'd end it and begin a new section about a new home. It's just felt rushed and less fleshed out than other books. And, the color splashes all seemed to follow the same kind of feel - over the top and monochromatic in most cases.
This book is full of inspiration, even if you would never do some of things on these pages, it’s wonderful to pour over the images. If you’re tired of white and beige interiors and love colour then this book is for you!
It's so inspiring seeing how people decorate their spaces and I love weird, wonderful and unusual mixes. Rich colours, incredible prints, patterns, textures and practical advice.
