Carmen Jenner thank you for such a fun time with this rom com! Poppy Porter our cat loving, cake eating, heroine is trying to navigate being dumped by her fiancée while being the maid of honor in his wedding and the wedding planner. Things go from bad to worse but for readers so very interesting when her ex’s best friend and our heroine’s archnenmeis enters the story… Leo Nass the Ass.

"To look at Leo Nass is to look at a god, but any-like impression is ruined the second he opens his mouth.”

description

The banter between Leo and Poppy is phenomenal…

"Leo: You don’t want me dead, Pop Tart. You just want me.

I scoff at my phone.

Me: You’re right. I want you…I chuckle to myself to let him stew for a bit.

Me:…to go away.

Leo: You say that, and yet you’re still responding.”

description

The sexual tension grows and grows as these two have to remain in one another’s orbit during all the wedding festivities.

description

Carmen Jenner did a fantastic job with this rom-com and to top the laughs and love off there’s cake. A whole lot of cake!

“I did almost kill a man tonight over a cake." - Poppy

“You sleep in Grumpy Cat pajamas?”
“So?”
“Oh, baby. You really are a crazy cat lady.”
“Don’t call me baby; I’m not your baby. And so I like cats. So what?...”

“Tell me, Pop Tart, is your pussy this unhappy, too?” He fingers the print of Grumpy Cat right over my nipple. I gasp before I can help it. The sound just slips out. Leo’s eyes darken with lust.
“Right now? Yeah, because some asshole doesn’t know what personal space means….”

“Well, now that I’m pussy free, I thought you might show me your grumpy cat. Someone has to take care of this.” He grabs his junk, and I can’t help it. I glance down at it and swallow hard.
“In your dreams, asshole.”
“Oh, but I think it will be in your dreams…”

“I unzip my fly, as if I’m really going to take out the beast and just flop it down on the table.
This time she does react the way I expect. She throws a cushion at me. “That is literally the last thing I want to see.”
“Oh come on, you’re not even the slightest bit curious?” I ask. “I’ve thought about your grumpy cat a lot.”
“Sure you have.”
“I have.”

52%
“Are you still going to this wedding, or can I eat your cake?” I mean for that to come out nothing like it sounds, but of course because apparently I’m now a teenage horn bag, it comes out low and sounds just like cake is a metaphor for her grumpy cat.”

I opened my review with some of the delightful saucy banter between our hero, Leo Nass and our heroine Poppy Porter. I do not read Rom-Com regularly, but I am open to any well-done book in the romance genre. "Cake" is a well written delight of a hot summertime fun read. It’s entertainment value is equal to any romantic comedy movie and that speaks volumes for this writer who is actually new to me.

I now have another writer that I can add to my list when I need to search for lighter fare between the dark, complex and heavy themed writing I am wont to read. The darker, suspenseful, more challenging and erudite romances are more my jam. Sometimes though…I need a break from living in my head. A state of being brought on by some of these reads I need a happy romance…the stuff of women’s modern-day fairy tales.

I think some of us have this romance “bone” or “gene” that we are born with and we need to give it its dose of HEAs for the sake of our mental health and pure relaxation. It seems when everything in life goes wrong…a romance like this always ends right-side up!!!Ahhhh!!!

Carmen Jenner writes fluidly and effortlessly with engaging description and likeable characters. There were surprise plot points and twists. I loved the overall shape of the story with the prolonged climax and super messy denouement. Sounds like I’m describing sex…Ha-Ha!!! And… Ms. Jenner is funny. Her humor was spot on…it was sexy, flirty and splendidly sarcastic.

The read is not one dimensional while it was romantic and fun, Poppy did have some pain to process through as her best friend/ former best friend allegedly began a relationship with her ex fiancé. Poppy and her ex were together for years. Her best friend and ex were together only for a few months and now they were getting married. Poppy not only had to assist in planning the destination wedding, but also was asked to be the maid of honor.

Leo Nass is her "frenemy" and also the best man in the wedding. The sparks fly whenever these two get together and it is delightful to read. The reader can feel the "tug and pull" dynamic of their relationship. Leo is described as a beautiful, genetically gifted, consummate ladies’ man who lives the life in the fast lane. His reputation as a master manwhore proceeds him as a rule.

Poppy is both attracted and repelled at the same time. I love that she is stubborn. I love that she is skeptical. She is also generous with her time and her forgiveness. Oh… and she loves all kinds of cake. For that matter, Leo does as well.

There is quite a lot of story, laughs, ooh and…hot, hot, hotness. Don’t forget the hotness!!! It happens and it is as delicious as the cake!!! 😋

So grab "Cake"; grab a cold glass of your favorite beverage…iced tea, wine, a Frappuccino etc... and be prepared to laugh…cry for laughing; and have your heart and spirits lifted…gotta feed that “romance bone” with which you were born. You might even crave a cupcake or a piece of cake after you finish. Maybe even share it with that special someone?

As a romance with swoons, I wasn’t swooning. But as an entertaining, comical and funny story, this was certainly enjoyable.

This may be a romantic comedy but the plot sounds more like a nightmare. Imagine this... your best friend, who you have known your whole life, sleeps with your boyfriend, he leaves you for her and they are now in love and getting married. Just to add to that.... she wants you to be the head bridesmaid and you will also be helping plan the wedding of your dreams for them. Sounds wonderful right?

As if that isn't stressful enough, the best man is someone that Poppy despises, Leo Nass. The man whoring best friend of her ex. The wedding has to be pulled together in a matter of weeks so Poppy & Leo will be spending quite a bit of time together organising things. Poppy is feeling quite vulnerable right now and her body seems to be turning against her every time that Leo is around.

"No, Poppy! Do not fall for his man whoring ways. This is how they get you, with twinkling gazes and megawatt smiles and then . . . KABOOM. Pregnant from a single glance. I will not fall prey to the man whore. This vagina will stay closed to the likes of him . . . forever."

I loved all the banter and texting between Leo and Poppy, they were dancing around their attraction to each other and it was very entertaining to read. So may laugh out loud moments!

"Me: My clitoris and I are on very friendly terms, thank you.

Leo: Really? What’s her name? Ariel? Belle? No. I know, Sleeping Beauty, because you’re just dying for Prince Charming to come and kiss it, and wake it up. You’ll have to introduce me sometime."

Therefore it was kind of inevitable that these two would end up getting up close and personal, in the naked kind of way. Leo could see how much it was hurting Poppy to plan what should have been her own wedding for someone else. She is not in love with her ex anymore but it still hurts all the same. Leo always seems to lighten the mood somehow.....

“Hey, it’s not my fault you went all Psycho on me and stood outside the shower to watch. Should I be worried about that bulge in your pants?” “Oh, it’s definitely not a knife. More like a sword, a broadsword. Of the meat variety.”

This was fun, light and romantic comedy at its best. A great book to read over a weekend and so entertaining!

ARC received for an honest review

See that there ^^?

That was me as I read Cake - because, you know, you can't read a book called Cake without eating cake. It's a law or something.

Firstly, I love love love love LOVE this cover. I am not usually a big on paying attention to covers, but I adore this one more and more every time I look at it.

This book was everything. I laughed, I cried, I yelled at my kindle, I may or may have not wanted to climb into the book and nut punch someone - or someones!

Right from the start, Cake is silly, sexy, fun and I could not put it down. Poppy and Leo are all sorts of adorable. They say fighting if foreplay, and OMG this pair love to fight.

My heart hurt for Poppy throughout this book. I am telling you now, I would never be as understanding as she is with things. I would be ripping people's balls off and shoving them down their throats! But, maybe that is just me???

I freaking adored Leo "Nass The Ass". I am like Poppy - I didn't know whether I wanted to kill him or kiss him (well, you know that I really wanted to kiss him lol)

Gah, I know this isn't doing the book justice!

So buy it, Read it. Love it!

HOLY MOLY!!! When an authors tagline line is what’s a happily ever after without a little torture? you come to expect stories full of angst, heartache and most definitely not smooth sailing. You hope for those belly flutters and warm fuzzies to accompany the aforementioned torture, but it wouldn't be remiss of us to not expect it. When Ms Jenner first announced CAKE I did a little happy dance because word on the street was SPOILER ALERT: NO ONE DIES.

Can you hear my excitement through my review because OMGGGGGG an honest to goodness happy book from one of my favourite authors.... well slap my butt and call me Sally because I am utterly obsessed with rom com's right now, I crave that fun, sexy, light banter and in my honest opinion no one does witty banter like Carmen Jenner.

"You see, the groom, Chase Vanderbilt, is my ex. The bride, Claire Schaefer? My ex-best friend."

Poppy Porter is that instantly loveable heroine I crave, she's sassy, strong and has that self deprecating humour I easily relate to. She's had a full on year, her career in on track, but her personal life is anything but stable. Less than two years ago she was living the exact life she planned, but when she's dumped by her fiancé the life she imagined takes a considerable shift in direction. One bonus of single life is no longer having to tolerate her now ex fiancés best friend Leo Nass.

Leo Nass has had his fair share of women to warm his bed, he's crass, a womaniser and seems to derive an obscene amount of joy from ruffling Poppy's feathers. He's always been a thorn in Poppy's side, after all Poppy's engagement might never had ended if Nass didn't stick his nose in. She's determined to believe the worse in him but there may be more to Nass the Ass then Poppy ever imagined.

"I hate you. You talked him out of marrying me."
"Word to the wise, Pop Tart. If a man can be talked out of marrying you after a couple of brewskies and a handful of stripper dollars, he's not the man for you."

This is well and truly the story I craved from Carmen Jenner, it's got everything I love about her writing, strong characters, ridiculously funny run ins, story development that serves to draw the reader into the world created as well all the heat and heart I have come to expect. What I absolutely adored though was Jenner's ability to prove that rom com's can have depth without unnecessary drama or death. There's an inherent beauty to Carmen's prose and CAKE has that in spades. Hands down my favourite cover from her collection of work, and without a doubt a new favourite recommendation for a story that absolutely stole my heart and had me laughing and swooning in equal measure.

“To look at Leo Nass is to look at a god, but any-like impression is ruined the second he opens his mouth.”

Carmen Jenner is known for her gritty, heartfelt second chance romances. She has written everything from Biker Romances to Angsty romances that give you all the feels. So, when I heard that she was going to be writing a romantic comedy, I couldn’t wait to see what she would bring to the table…

Cake is a hilarious romantic comedy. From the moment I picked up this book, I was sucked into Leo and Poppy’s story. I fell in love with their banter and couldn’t wait for their interactions. Their banter is some of the funniest and best that I’ve encountered. Their push and pull was perfection. The “hate” and dislike between the two of them led to some delicious and intense sexual tension. And I for one could not wait to see these two explore it.

Cake is well written and has one entertaining story-line. I can’t even imagine being in some of the situations Poppy found herself in. If this were a movie, I would be hiding my face and peaking through my fingers, saying I can’t watch, I can’t watch! But, you know you can’t look away, even if you tried. Poppy’s best friend and her ex were the absolute worst, I can’t even with them. They totally had me raging. Poppy was a way better person that me, because I would have dropped those two like a bad habit.

Overall,I really enjoyed this book. It was a quick, fun and enjoyable read. I enjoyed meeting these characters and loved spending the day getting lost in their story. Carmen Jenner hit it out of the park with this romantic comedy and I look forward to seeing what she has in store for us next.

This was my first Carmen Jenner book, and oh boy, it certainly will not be my last. I have been recommended Carmens books by a friend for the last few months, so finally getting to read one was awesome.

I loved this book! I was hooked from the very beginning, that prologue sure draws you in. Also, this book is so hilarious. I was grinning like a fool at my kindle so often its ridiculous.

Both of the main characters in this are absolutely wonderful. Leo is full of charm and witt, he's damned hilarious, and Poppy is a very strong female lead. The banter between the two of them is awesome and was one of my favourite things about the storyline. It was constant, and just plain normal for both of them.

The situation that Poppy ends up in, is one that most females would run like hell from. I know I sure would. But, she takes her job seriously, and stands up to be strong, even in the face of all the humiliation thats sure to rain down on her. And as such, all the hilarity starts.

I really wanted to punch Claire in the face. And Chase, god help me. I couldn’t stand either of them. But I guess thats part of what makes the story so good. It makes you feel things.

For the most part, this is an uplifting story. It has its horrible moments, especially given the situation, but because its a romcom, its all written in such a way that you just roll with the punches and enjoy every moment.

The book rolls on smoothly and is well written. I loved following the journey between Leo and Poppy, and there really are some awesome scenes in this book. This was a fantastic romcom and I can’t wait to read more from Carmen.

Poppy Porter loves Magnolia Cupcakes
This is Pop Tart. She’s anal-retentive, OCD, wedding obsessed, and a believer in true love, love at first sight , and . . . fate.

And Leo "Nass the Ass", is a man-whore, who's done half of Manhattan and rigorously working his way through the other half. He loves needling her for her obsession with these sugary delights.

They meet in NYC , he manages to distract her enough that she falls on the street and her cupcakes are smooshed. He meets her at the wedding and they fall on the Cake. And he stalks her again till her German Chocolate Pecan cake is destroyed.
Oh in between they steal a 1000$ cake too.
So I say the story about Poppy and Leo and their love for Cake. So much so that they use it as sex food too.
And then there's her ex , marrying her ex BFF, his ex marries Leo.
Battle of the sexes, with Cake thrown in And it's hilarious and funny and dirty, nasty, filthy sexy !!
Win-Win !!

If all frenemies were as hot as Leo Nash… I’d need at least 3 please.

Another great story from the fabulous Carmen Jenner.

Poppy is preparing to stand beside her (ex) best friend on her wedding day… only problem is her (ex) best friend is marrying Poppy’s ex fiancé. That’s all one big mess, so let’s focus on Poppy’s career as a wedding planner… wait… that’s a mess too… Never mind. Let’s just focus on cake. Poppy loves cake… but… that’s another mess. Okay… So, this story is one big mess. But, Lord, what a great mess it is thanks to “Nash the ass".

Leo Nash can make your knickers wet and make you want to beat him with a tire iron all at one time. He’s just my type. Poppy was a little on the annoying side with her stuffy attitude and willingness to play Chase and Claire’s fool, but she wasn’t totally a write off. I only wanted to shake her a little. Mostly she made me laugh. I just wish there was more to the story. I would have loved to read about Leo and Poppy’s relationship throughout their whole life. I would have loved for this to be a slow burn. Instead, I felt like I was left out of a good portion of their story. I wanted to understand what Poppy ever saw in Chase and how her and Claire’s friendship was before this. It might only be because I love Carmen Jenner’s writing so much… but I just want more… so much more… always more.

Hmm, where to start, I'm just not sure. All I know is that I ADORED this book! I finished this book in less than 24 hours. I stayed up late to finish it. I could barely put it down to go to work, and unfortunately the snow days did not continue while I was reading it, so I had to go to work. I was first amused that when I downloaded it to start reading during the commercials while I was watching some of my DVR episodes of Supernatural, and realized that the main character's cats were named Sam, Dean, and Castiel. As the story went on and we learned just how much Poppy loved the same show I was watching and love, I knew she was a girl after my own heart. The heartache in this story is just so intense, I mean it is her best friend marrying her ex-boyfriend, and what's worse, it is where Poppy works as a wedding planner that is taking care of the wedding. AND, her best friend still expects her to be a part of the wedding.

I loved this story!!!
Cake is a great rom-com,it was enterteining, funny and sweet...I hope it becomes a movie soon.

Poppy, our heroine,is an amazing wedding planner but she isn't ready to arrange and to take part to her ex fiancè and best friend's wedding.
Fortunately our heroine during this very stressful time, with her job on the line and tons of little hitches, finds the support of her very nemesis,Leo Nass.

I liked Leo even if he's a playboy and our heroine is not too fond of him I can see something good in him and reading his scenes made me laugh a lot.

I really recommend to read this book asap if you want to have some good time.

4.5 PopTart Stars!!!

Popped my Carmen Jenner Cherry with this book. What a great quick paced, free flowing, laugh out loud story!!! I opened this book and could not put it down till I finished. It was one OMG moment after another.

Poppy Porter is a bigger woman than I could ever be! That is for sure. Working her way up the ladder in her current job as an associate wedding planner, this upcoming wedding will surely get her the promotion she so desperately needs.

The catch to this upcoming wedding…It’s her ex best friend who is getting married to her ex. Now you see why I say Poppy is a bigger woman than I could ever be. I would forgo the promotion and sabotage the wedding in a heartbeat!

Leo Nass, the most immature human being ever aka the biggest man whore in NYC is the best man at the wedding. Being friends with the groom and Poppy since they were children. He was responsible for breaking up Poppy and the groom’s 7-year relationship.

The banter between Poppy-PopTart and Leo was outstanding! This book nailed what a rom-com should be. Great cherry popping book for me!!

Poppy Porter should have been planning her wedding to her fiance and headed off on her honeymoon. However, she is now helping to plan her now ex-best friend's wedding to her ex-fiance. The worst thing is that Poppy can't say know as her job is also on the line if she stuffs up. As the maid of honor Poppy is being pushed together with her ex-best friend's Best Man - Leo Nass. He also happens to be the one who talked her ex-fiance into leaving her and not marrying her. Leo has always picked on Poppy, but deep down he always knew that Poppy was too good for his friend as he was a cheating piece of scum. Poppy doesn't see it that way, and it makes her hate Leo even more. What happens though when Leo's brother Jasper makes Leo a bet that he can't score with Poppy. Now Leo's apartment is on the line, can Leo finally get the girl of his dreams - Poppy? The wooing part will be difficult though as Poppy is one stubborn chick with a chip on her shoulder. I loved this book as it made me laugh and was such a quick read as I could not put it down. The other thing that made me love this book so much was because it reminded me of one of my favorite movies "The Wedding Planner" with Jennifer Lopez and Matthew McCounaghey.

Cake was definitely a step away from the heart wrenching angst that Carmen Jenner is so well known for but I think she’s about to become well known for something completely different!

Cake was deliciously (pun intended) fun. It was flirty, a whole bit cray cray and full of so much snark and sexy banter. It had me up all night sniggering and waking up my house with laugh out loud hilarity. I could not put this book down! I picked it up late at night to read a couple of chapters and a couple of hours later I was reading the two dreaded words no one wants to see at the end of a great book. THE END.

Cake was a little shorter than I thought it was going to be and more often than not I avoid short books and novella’s because I’m always worried that the relationship building between the characters will be rushed and unrealistic. That was not the case with Cake. The plot developed at a really good pace and the character development was perfectly suited to the plot and the characters themselves.

And how can you not fall in love with just the cover alone! It’s perfect for the story! It’s unique and different and something I’d love to see released a lot more!

Poppy is a great character, a little neurotic with some serious OCD tendencies and no tolerance for Leo Nass' issues but I think we all have a little bit of Poppy inside is. (Leo would’ve loved that one! 😂)

“You will not be taking care of anything. You are not permitted to come anywhere near my princess parts.” He laughs. “Did you just refer to your pussy as your princess parts?” “Shut up. I’m flustered, and I don’t do well with conflict.” “Could have fooled me.”

Leo is your typical women loving man whore! He knows he has the goods and he loves to share it all around! And he knows how to push Poppy’s buttons better than anybody. They have the most intense Love/Hate relationship full of the best banter and one liners!

“He’s Chris-Hemsworth-in-Thor kind of glorious, only without all that ridiculous hair. Yes, to look at Leo Nass is to look at a god, but any god-like impression is ruined the second he opens his mouth.”

I really enjoyed reading Cake! I needed it. It was exactly the type of book I needed to spend a lazy Sunday night reading. It was definitely an adventure! I highly recommend reading Cake if you’re looking for something a little outside the box or something that will keep you up at night through tears of laughter!

Loved!!

I loved this book!!!

This is a new author to me but I’m really thankful that I took a chance on her. There isn’t much I like better than a good enemies to lovers romance and when you add in all the hilarity of an ex-boyfriend and an ex-best friends wedding, this was a recipe for fun.

I’m normally not a fan of blatant, unapologetic manwhores but I have to tell you, I LOVED Leo. I totally understood Poppy’s hesitance to give into his charms but I love that once he fell, he fell hard and he didn’t struggle with going for it with her. He just had to convince her to let herself fall back.

I was literally laughing out loud at all the mishaps and accidental public displays of well...you just have to read it to fully appreciate it. There was even just a touch of conflict that played out so well that I found myself going back and rereading it a few times once I finished.

If you like a funny, sexy enemies to lovers romance that’s just a little OTT with the perfect touch of emotion I highly suggest picking this one up.

Poppy and Leo from start to finish are amazing as heck!! What I love is that they hate each other yet don’t notice that their hatred has allowed them to be so honest and open with one another that when they finally open up it leads to a beautiful friendship! But can Mr. playboy really change who he is into who poppy needs!!

Poor poppy has had a year from hell and the one thing she needs is for everything to go right but yet it’s all crumbling around her!! Can she pull off this nightmare wedding without a hitch and land the position of her dreams or will the damage of her past consume her and turn the wedding into a huge disaster!!?

A very funny enemies to lovers romcom that should be read! It’s such a lighthearted book that provides major laughs, steamy angst and one heck of an ending!! I would seriously love to see this couple again! (Maybe a short novella in the future? Please please please)

Leo likes to make his opinions known, “I’m not sure your *** would fit.” I cock my head to the side and stare at the *** in question. It’s a nice ***—a little small for my liking, but there’s certainly enough of it to grab a handful..." Leo never let his woman win an arguement, “oh, you wrapped it. I could feel your grumpy cat trying to get closer to my ***k.” Leo doesn't have a bashful bone in his body, “Aaright, ease up, Mother,” Leo says, snaking an arm around my waist. “Yes, Poppy and I had *** all night, and twice this morning.” I adored the heck out of this book, Leo and Poppy were just everything.

This was horrible. Leo is the worst person ever and Poppy is an idiot for keeping any of these horrendous people in her life.

This is a zany, funny, witty romantic comedy with a bit of a twist. I thought by the title this would be a contemporary romance based on a baker and her love life…boy was I wrong and so glad because what I read was phenomenal and outstanding. Poppy is a wedding planner and she is handed a wedding to plan only she doesn’t want any part of it. Reason is, her former BFF is getting married to her former fiancée. Poppy is left feeling so many negative emotions and she definitely is hating her life at this moment; on top of that, here Poppy’s ex BFF wants Poppy to be the head bridesmaid and also to help plan the wedding of Poppy’s dreams for them. OMG I so would tell them to go jump off the tallest mountain that could be found but due to her job, she has to be professional, calm and collected. This couldn’t get any worse for Poppy now or could it? Oh yes, it can! Poppy finds out that the best man is someone that Poppy despises, Leo Nass. They are like arch enemies and cant seem to be around one another. Oh Poppy could come up for many names for Leo, one centers around his manwhore type ways. Because the wedding has to be done super quick, Poppy and Leo will have to be in contact—A LOT and together they will be organizing things. Thing is, Poppy cant stand Leo for he has always been a jerk to her and she doesn’t want to deal with them on top of dealing with her feelings for the wedding and the way she was done wrong. Poppy is feeling very vulnerable right now and her body seems to be working against her every time that Leo is around. Sizzle Sizzle is what happens when these two are around one another. They have this witty sexual banter going on along with this push/pull relationship happening. The story really takes off from here and the reader will go on this funny, lighthearted and emotional journey with Poppy as she realizes what is important , most importantly who is important—what a great enemies to lovers read. I don’t want to give any spoilers away but this story was fantastic and full of energy. I couldn’t help but laugh when reading this story. Poor Poppy yet her issues and pain make for some great moments in this story. You will know what I mean when reading this fabulous look into Poppy’s life. The ending was killer and I look forward to reading more from Carmen Jenner and she will be an auto buy because this book is da bomb!!!

This was our July BOTM. I laughed and cried from tears with this book. It was light, flowed really well. The MC's were very easy to warm up to. If you want something light with a great gushing HEA then try this book.

WOW!!! What a great story!!! This book is the first I have read by Carmen Jenner and, damn, I love how this girl's mind works! Carmen likes to torment her heroes terribly much whereas it is clear that she wants them to be highly intelligent and outspoken. Also, to make the story enough spicy, she puts in the mix a feisty heroine having a flirting banter with the main hero. And the result is spectacular!

Poppy Porter is a woman in a mission. To be the maid of honour for her ex-bestfriend, Claire, who is getting married her ex-fiancé, Chase. To top it all, she needs to keep her job as a wedding planner so she can't screw this particular wedding. Passionate and committed to her job she starts to lose her balance when she come across again with her archinemesis and also groom's best man, Leo Nass. There isn't a single moment, when they are near to each other, to not destroy a box of frosting cakes or to rise the temperature in a room... The tension is building up and so is the frustration, until Leo is finally under her skin because of a....cake.

If you like spicy and rom coms then Cake is the perfect book for you to read! Its plot, based on a wedding theme, wins the attention because of its uniqueness and because it's super hilarious! I never stopped giving airy-high-five to Poppy for her intelligently-smart lines that had Leo as a target. Or drooling and swooning when...she get to"using" her great love of frosting cakes. Poppy is a hell of a female character, like the ones any one would want to as a bestie, me included. Leo, on the other hand is the epitome of cockiness and self-adoration. Do I like him? Hell Yeah!! Poppy and Leo are perfect for each other and the chemistry between them is totally off the charts!! It was a joy to watch them interact as the story slowly unfolded around them. How the author put them through all these awfully-unpleasant situations. Or how their HEA ending came... For me, never before weddings had so much drama and so much...passion.

I hope I intrigued your imagination a little and make you grab the book, finding out what's really happening because there is no way to tell you myself. Until next time, enjoy your free time reading great books with the most unforgettable stories.

I had so much fun reading Cake by Carmen Jenner and is easily one of my top favorite rom-coms this year. I wanted to hide somewhere and just keep reading and tried really hard not to yell at anyone who interrupted me while reading it to just leave me alone.

Poppy Porter is in the middle of her worst nightmare. Her ex is marrying her ex-best friend, but no, that is not the worst of it. Nope! She is expected to not only be part of the wedding planning as both a wedding party planner and maid of honor. It is the last thing she wants to do, but she needs to do this for the promotion she wants. What is a girl to do? Destroy the cake of course!

I loved Poppy. Yes, she kept finding herself in the most embarrassing situations and doing things she does not want too, but she took it in stride and held her head up high. Who cares if at home she allowed herself to feel the hurt and wallow, as long as no one else saw her do it. She was strong and determined, but also vulnerable.

Leo Nass, or better known as Nass the A**, and Poppy have always butted heads. Leo is Chase’s, Poppy’s ex, best friend and all three of them have known each other for a long time. He loves to give Poppy a hard time every time they interact. They do not like each other at all, or do they? Leo could be such a jerk to Poppy, but he was really an overall good guy with a sense of humor. He was cocky, sexy and has a reputation as a womanizer, but it may be because he never looked at what was in front of him all along.

I cannot express how much I enjoyed reading the story. It was funny, sexy and the banter between Poppy and Leo had be laughing so hard. They were great characters and even when they bickered, they had so much chemistry. This is a very slow burn story, but so worth the wait! Poppy and Leo never saw each other coming! And I have to say, I really disliked Chase and Claire, the exes, but karma has a way of coming for you!

I cannot recommend this book enough. It really was a great story with amazing characters. It was all kinds of funny and entertaining and one of the best books I have read this year. An enemies to lovers story with a twist!

This is a wonderful Rom-Com that will have you laughing out loud and you won't want to put it down. So I'd advise you find some quiet time to enjoy the read and have some cake to hand because you'll be fancying some by time you've read this book.

Poppy is a wedding planner chasing that big promotion and willing to do what it takes to get it...even planning the wedding of her ex life long best friend to her ex boyfriend as well as being the maid of honour at the nuptials. It's no wonder she loves cake. Poppy has a bigger pair than me because I'd have been slipping the happy couple some laxatives or something beforehand if I even lasted that long as the gopher/planner for this bridezilla. Everything that can go wrong does and Poppy finds assistance from an unexpected source and much more.

Leo Nass is the best man, a man whore of epic proportions, Poppys archnemisis with good reason and soon to be her unexpected saviour. The banter and antics of the two of them together is the best part of the book. Before long the two come to realise that despite their long association and a past that has left them enemies, things are changing the more they are forced to spend time together leading to some serious sexy time. Got to love a guy who knows to keep the cake coming when you need it most, even if you want to throat punch him at times.

A fantastic read that is sexy and funny from the start and will leave you smiling while you finish off that cake.
