While reading this book It was kind of hard to get into the 1st story. It starts off somewhat slow and I just couldn't get into it all the way. But I push through and finish the story, I don't really like to start a book without finishing it.
But the second story to this book hold a lot of potential and I can really say that I was into it. I love the fact that Sondra was this woman who came and found her spot light in the "Mans World" of an sport PR.
I don't care for Ronell, who his a jerk, and a pig. The only thing I can say that was good about him, is that he knew that Sondra was his rival. And that she had so much potential to grab players and make them even better than they were. He knew she was not just a pretty face, and could not actually survive in this "Man World."
I did have an issue when Sondra sister goes missing she and Corey thought it was appropriate to finally to give into to there lustful way.
Now don't get me wrong, I do have an issue that they FINALLY make an effort to get with one another. i just felt like that shouldn't have been the time for them to FINALLY make a move and have sex. I feel that maybe if they were already at that stage and was already having sex then that would be different. I wouldn't have been so upset about the fact that it happen. But since it was not like that It kind of left a bad taste in my mouth.
I just feel that at that moment was not a right time to do that. Too me it made me feel as if she was not truly worried about her missing sister. If my younger sister was missing I would be worried out of my mind, I wouldn't have sex on my brain. Especially with a guy that i'm not dating and much less I'm the boss of. It made me change the thinking about Sondra and I ended up seeing her in a different light that wasn't so good.
And to make things worse, she goes back to work and doesn't make any contact with her older brother who reach out to her for some support. That had me thinking "Geez she is ridiculous". I was shock by her behavior since I wouldn't act like that, but it was strange to me. As if she was not truly worried about her family. But claims "Family is more important than my job.".
Other than that I did like the book, as well as the other books in here, but like the others there were a lot of off putting scenes. Or Slow start to the book that was making it hard to get into.
The book just wasn't really to my liking, but it was a good book and you might enjoy it more than I did.
I've only read this book in the bundle of 7, simply because it kept showing up on an Interracial A to Z Challenge. I found that I had it in in abuse that I purchased a couple of years ago. It was a short interracial, second chance romance. There's Athena that African-American ugly secret girlfriend from high school who turns into beautiful swan ten years later. There's the rich white popular boy, Mason, who was in love with Athena but dated her secretly because he was afraid of what his friends would say.
After she was forced to leave town, Mason realized that he lived her. He couldn't find her so he took over his father's business and became a wealthy businessman. He never left town because he hoped she would return. She lived a life on the run with her guardian, Elijah, who became her fiance. Forced to flee again, Elijah decided to return to her hometown because no one would look for them there. The
Athena was still in love with Mason and was afraid of her feelings for him since she was engaged to Elijah. She felt obligated to be with Elijah out of a sense of guilt. He took care of her After her parents died. Even after she figured out that Elijah was a drug dealer, she stayed with him. Once they returned to her hometown, she saw Mason and the feelings were stronger. Mason thought he had lost her when he found out she was engaged to Elijah. Even though she loved Mason and he loved her, she still stayed with Elijah.
The book was a very short romance - somewhat unrealistic. The characters weren't fully developed and the plot was thin still the book was enjoyable with HEA!
It's hard to rate a bundle of books, but other than "A 40 Somethings Dream", the first story by Violet Jackson, the rest of the bundle was dull and unimpressive. "Island Love" by Tyra Brown was just utterly ridiculous and the other books were basic and boring.
This was a wonderful series to read. Each story unique and intriguing. Some of the stories left you wanting more. The last one in this series was my favorite. It inspired me to read The Power of Positive Thinking!
