100% SPOILER FREE REVIEW 3.7 STARS
- I was extremely excited when it was announced “Capture” was going to have two books which meant double the fantastic authors and stories, especially being a huge PNR fan; however, in my personal opinion, book 2 didn’t do it for me.
A couple stories I did enjoy enough to make it worth reading, finding two new to me authors.
Unconditional Lust by Breanna Hayes *a new to me author* pulled me in from page one and managed to keep me hanging on until the end. There were a few spots I was turned off my the terminology used, and I was left a little confused by the ending. But, overall a good read.
- Silverwolf Alpha by Jesse McPherson was probably my favorite story in this anthology.
- That’s not to say I didn’t enjoy any of the others. I just chose to go with two of my favorites.
- Again, each story is unique in its own way, and while I loved some, and disliked others, I absolutely 100% recommend this anthology to any PNR lover *of age*
- The reason I was disappointed in this anthology is because some stories felt forced, or rushed. I was unable to relate to the some characters, while others seemed as though the MC’s didn’t connect well with each other.
A big thing for me is when an author adds sex-scenes into their stories and they seem uncomfortable doing so- and yes I know it’s extremely difficult to write a good, realistic sex scene, especially if you’re new to it. With that being said, some of the sexy scenes were the opposite for me. And again this is just my personal opinion. So, please take it with a grain of salt. But, I found many scenes where the sex didn’t match the storyline or appeared that the author was uncomfortable writing the scenes.
Another big thing for me is easily fixed mistakes. I found some stories that a quick out loud reading from the author would have been caught. While others were overly wordy, the same words being used in the same sentence, too many adverbs and adjectives. i.e. “the small, normally shy boy is speaking extremely loud today” where the minor difference of “the small boy is loud today” would have given the same message with less words. Don’t hate on me yet, I do understand there’s a time and place for giving extra details and that wasn’t a direct quote from any story, just to get my opinion across. Which is, when you have a limited amount of words, I feel they should be chosen wisely, which makes the story come across easier to follow for the reader. I know I’m not alone in this, as I’ve been blogging a long time.
- Again with all of that being said - I really do recommend grabbing this anthology as there will be something for everyone!!!

“Embracing the Darkness” by Zizi Cole *4.5/5*
I really enjoyed this fast-paced paranormal romance story!
This author definitely knows how to write steamy scenes!
The world itself had all the right elements (courts, fae, demons, etc.) and I loved the names (Crispin, Lucian, Starling, Amalia). The character dialogue and chemistry felt a bit rushed for this short story so I really hope to read more about them and the world they live in, in a full-length book.

“Unconditional Lust” by Breanna Hayse *2/5*
I liked the base idea of the story but for me, it was ruined by the language used throughout. I wanted to stop reading within the first 2 pages because of the brash name calling back and forth between the main female character and a male on the ship. I continued reading only because my interest was piqued when it began talking about the Mer-creatures. But it later continued with an explicit pornographic scene that is definitely not for everyone.
For my personal preferences, it would be a great story if it was rewritten in a more toned down way?

“Luck of the Irish” by K.L. Roth *3/5*
This story was just okay for me. I like the playful banter of the main character but some of the dialogue felt too forced and there seemed to be a lot of elements crammed in there not giving them a chance to develop enough to be believable. I also noticed some spelling issues and missing words here and there. I liked the idea of exploring some Irish legends but this story needs some more work.

“Song of the Siren” by Amanda Leigh *5/5*
Apart from a couple words that need to be corrected, this story was wonderfully perfect. The pacing was very smooth and natural and the characters were endearing. Nicely written.

“Silverwolf Alpha” by Jessi Mcpherson *4.5/5*
I enjoyed this werewolf shifter story. There are some missing and misplaced words throughout but it doesn’t take away from the story. It had a smooth storyline with a strong character chemistry and is written very well.

I really enjoyed the first book in this set of anthologies. I was excited to dive into book two.

Embracing Darkness - This story dealt with demons, fae, and a mysterious homan woman. The words transport the reader into their fantastical time and place as everything plays out. The flow was good and the ending had a pleasant(ish) surprise.

Unconditional Lust - This story had my blood boiling from the start with the blatant disrespect shown to Captain Shaye. I was also intrigued to learn more about the disappearing ships. The ending had quite the passion pulsing from the pages.

Luck of the Irish - This was a very unique story dealing with Irish lore and beings like leprechauns and kelpies. I'd never read anything quite like it, which made it a memorable little story and an interesting addition to this anthology.

Song of the Siren - The description at the beginning of this tale painted a very vivid and chilling picture of the siren on the prowl. As she left the survivor on the boat, I felt an intense need to know what would happen next. When fate reunited them, I wasn't sure what the outcome would be. I have to admit that I was surprised, but found the ending to be a dark delight.

Silverwolf Alpha - This story had some great elements of mystery and passion. I wanted Ella to confide in Jackson about everything, from what was going on with her to what was happening to him. When the truths came out, I wanted to know what he would do with this information. The ending was perfect. This is a story that I think could be molded into a whole book and I would be very entertained to read it.

I felt like the stories in this collection were even more dark and lusty than those found in book one. It was the naughty half of a great duo and a delight to read.

Let's begin this review with a few facts: 1. I am one of the contributors to the first Capture anthology. 2. I have never read this specific book UNTIL 3. This audiobook was received without compensation for an honest review. Everything that follows below here is honest and my words alone in my opinion. I was and will not be compensated for this review.

Now that the nitty gritty is out of the way, I want to start off saying that I didn't care for the narrator. There were some stories that she felt right for, but overall, I wish there was a different one. That said, there did seem to be an issue with the microphone or audio quality so maybe that's what made it a little difficult to listen to the narrator and it wasn't the narrator but the equipment that was the problem. I'm not sure. All I know is that I didn't merge into the story worlds as I would have liked.

Since this is an anthology, I'm not going to go into every story, but the overall piece of work. There were stories that had me. I personally liked the first and last story and the Siren one did grab me at places. I felt writing quality wise, all the stories weren't bad.

However, some did feel rushed. Now, I actually expected that so it wasn't too big a deal. Except for maybe one story that had an ending that made me double take for a moment. Honestly, that story was probably not my favorite because I was trying to figure out the world it was set in. This story was probably the worst when it came to the narration too. So, that didn't help.

That said, the anthology itself isn't bad. It was a good break between other reads and I'm happy I was able to get a copy to review. The stories chosen for this anthology are well made and do fit together in some way.

In all, not a bad read.

Capture #2 brings five dark, paranormal romance tales together in one fabulous anthology.

Embracing Darkness by Zizi Cole
I absolutely loved this paranormal romance. With the Seeley Court, fae, demons, & a mysterious human female all intertwined into a decadently delicious read. Lovely surprise ending.

Unconditional Lust by Breanna Hayse - This one just wasn't my cup of tea. It wasn't a bad story just not the type I prefer.

Luck of the Irish by K. L. Roth - I absolutely love this novella. This is a unparalleled read dealing with Irish lore and beings such as leprechauns and kelpies. I found it very intriguing and couldn't wait to find out what happens next. My favourite in the anthology.

Songs of the Siren by Amanda Leigh
I absolutely love this very vivid & detailed intriguing dark, chilling read with its dark delightful ending.

SilverWolf Alpha by Jessi McPherson
I absolutely love this novella too. This novella intertwines the elements of mystery, and passion into one captivating read. The ending was perfectly composed.

Overall, I absolutely love the dark & lusty reads published by Enchanted Anthologies.

Embracing Darkness - Zizi Cole - 5 Stars - This may be a quick story but it still manages to blend sweet and sexy very well. You may not get to know the characters well but it seems like a great match.

Unconditional Lust - Breanna Hayse - 5 Stars - This story is different but still enjoyable. There's a lot of action packed into a short story.

Luck of the Irish - K. L. Roth - 3 Stars - Starting out this story is good, but once the supernatural shows up it gets really confusing and hard to understand whats going on. Plus the beginning feels a bit rushed.

Song of the Siren - Amanda Leigh - 5 Stars - This story has a dark beauty to it. It's a long awaited reunion that has a hauntingly dark beauty in its coming.

Silverwolf Alpha - Jessi McPherson - 3 Stars - I'm not sure about this story aside from it just didn't hit the spot for me. It was a good story don't get me wrong, but it just fell flat and seemed like it was missing something.

Jenna did a great job narrating these five stories and seemed like an entirely new person for each of them.

Well, I have a story in this, so I guess you could consider this review a little biased.

Still, I really enjoyed the dark and romantic stories in this book. I listened to the audio so that was really cool. To hear it read out loud. And to hear my story? Damn, that was cool!! If I do say so myself, it was actually pretty good. lol I'm proud of the authors in this anthology and the dark paranormal romance stories they delivered.

4 stars.
