The story is much better in the later books.

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧
Romance: 💙💛🖤🤍
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙
World building: 🌎🌍🌏🌎
Character development: 👩🏻🧔🏻🧑🏻‍🦰👱🏻‍♂️

The heroine: Morgan - as she graduates college, she gets a scholarship to graduate school in New York for her writing. Morgan is writing a book about a girl whose best friends are five ravens whom she can talk to.

The Hero(es): Dylan - the historian and the sentinel, he stands guard over the group.
Bunny - the painter, he paints the future. He can also paint runes on Morgan’s body which protect her.
Clinton - the musician, he is a huge guy and trains Morgan to fight as well.
Sam - the photographer, his pictures show the world as it will be not as it is.
Damien - the craftsmen, he crafts a magical sword for Morgan.

The Story: Morgan moves to New York and learns that she will be living in a mansion with 5 super hot guys. She soon learns the reasons behind her strange childhood and that her book is about her and the guys. She has a dark goddess inside her called the Morrigan.

The Morrigan was once betrayed by a man and vowed vengeance and became the goddess of war and destruction. Morgan and the guys are fighting the darkness that is brought by the Morrigan. I don’t want to go into the story too much but to say that I wasn’t really liking it all that much at the beginning.

The story seemed to be nothing but a way to bring together this girl and her harem and to be a way to justify a reverse harem smut fest. However, the story got much better as it went along and was more about the fight between good and evil.

As for the narration, it was done by Keira Stevens and Troy Duran. Kiera has a great voice for a young woman and I have enjoyed all the books with her so far. Troy Duran is perfect for the Heroes. I absolutely love his smooth deep voice. I plan to put just about every romance that he narrates on my wishlist. His voice is narration perfection!

One thing was pretty cool about this book. The last book of the series was published in 2018, but the world with the plague in this book that was spread by the Morrigan was eerily similar to the real world with Covid19.

I'm thinking 2.5-3 stars.. I picked this up off Audible because lets be honest the cover looks amazing and I'm always down for more paranormal books set with a background of Norse mythology because it doesn't come across my lap very often. Narration wise.. I mean it was ok. Dual Narration with male and female narrators for the many POVs. All the guys do sound the same so it was hard to figure out whose head I was in if I didn't hear it announced at the beginning of the chapter.. I am glad that they did announce it at the beginning of the chapters though.. lifesaver.

While the beginning of the series really caught my attention and drug me in.. it seemed to kind of all fall apart soon after that for me. Morgan our FMC is accepted to a new school with a scholarship for her writing. In order to keep this scholarship she must continue to write her book about a girl with Ravens for friends. Little does Morgan know the things she writes.. are more to her than just a story she has thought up but actual memories. Morgan is actually more than she seems.. and her new house mates.. are more as well, and they are about to go on an epic quest to save the world..

Ok so here is the gist. Character Depth/interactions. Morgan is our most depth full character even though we get the guys povs as well, but even she is a little lacking for me. Next, despite the obvious attraction everyone feels at meeting I felt like there was just no real chemistry.. like it was forced with every guy at first.. and then everyone is having sex everywhere and all the time and I just felt a little jipped. Also, the smut scenes weren't all that hot, in my opinion... even though there was some extra stuff going on. It was almost made out that because Morgan refused to choose one.. she was on a desperate rush to keep them all .. or something..

The story really lacked a cohesive flow for me. Sometimes ideas and plot points would pop up that just didn't quite make sense how we got from point A to B. Also, why the story even continues after what we call the exorcism.. Honestly I just got lost somewhere in there and just went with it till the end. I think there was a great premise here but I'm just not sure the scenes made it cohesively and smoothly to the page. That being said the scenes themselves were fine in that I had no trouble picturing the setting, and I did enjoy the backstory.. for the most part. I feel like the backstory would have made some things make more sense if maybe more of it had been given at the beginning of the story rather than slow reveals throughout. I'm not sure if my opinion would have changed however if I had read these books one at a time rather than grabbing the set and having them all together...

Some great ideas.. but I'm just a little on the fence here at the end.

Honestly this is a DNF as much as that pains me. I made it to the 10th chapter of the second book before I just could not handle any more of it. I may pick it back up another time but for right now I feel like I need to scrub my brain.

1 Star - Abandoned Series

I read the first book through completely, read halfway through the second book…then skimmed the rest of the series.

This story was crap. Everything about it was awful. The guys were all in a ‘relationship’ with Morgan because it was their job. It was their literal job to have sex with her whenever she wanted it. That’s super sexy. None of them loved her, they didn’t particularly want to have sex with her or be her mate…but they had to do it in order to save the world. Just what I’m looking for in a romance book.

So it was really unsurprising when one of the guys in her harem betrayed her in a completely massive and devastating way.

The guys were forced to ‘be with’ Morgan to save the world, but they all kept secrets from her. The guys were keeping major secrets throughout the entire series. Which is also unsurprising, because they had no real love or loyalty to her. There was no communication. They never treated Morgan as part of their team. They had sex to transfer power and that was the extent of their connection.

The world building was mediocre. The plot had potential, but the author wasn’t able to fulfill the potential behind the idea. Character development was sad.

I want to say it again, because I can’t stress this enough: There wasn’t even one thing I liked about this book.

I wouldn’t recommend this series to anyone, ever.

Amazing

Having read this authors other books. I know that these would be good. But she out did herself! This story was amazing. I was so enthralled with the story I didn’t even realize I read all 6 of them in just a few days. This story is one of innocence to an awakening of who the main character is truly meant to be. And to have a harem of hot guys to protect and serve her….heck yes

Darkness and light, the eternal struggle

What started as a scholarship turned out to be much more. Arriving at a manor house in New York on a writing scholarship, Morgan soon meets her 5 new housemates. Each if them there on an arts scholarship themselves. There's a painter, a metal smith, a historian researcher, a musician, and a photographer. The interesting part? All men. This just became a coed house. Being told that mandatory group dinners was part of the deal raised her eyebrow but for a free ride and a chance to continue writing? Worth it. Settling in took less time than she thinks it should and as she adjusts to the testosterone levels in the house she realizes that it isn't the fact that they're all guys that intrigues her. It's the fact that each one's art is a bit more than it seems. Paintings of distant worlds, history that seems to revolve around a particular goddess, jewelry that protects, music that seems to enchant and photos that reveal a dark possible future. Discovering who she is? Beyond the struggling orphan turned college student she thinks she is jars her. But not as much as the events that follow. Her story is coming alive. And taking a darker turn with each page written.

This complete series in 1 book is by far the best way to read this tale. I don't want to add spoilers to this review so it's going to be rather vague. I like the twist on the mythology. I liked the tied history woven through it, too. Having a strong female lead is great but making her run the gammut of emotions while still being relatable is a difficult challenge to an author, but one Ms Lawson rose to and accomplished. The lack of TSTL moments and petty drama was a refreshing change, too. Bad choices are made but without whining and even worse choices to try and correct them. There are dark tones but nothing I'd slap a trigger warning on. This is a battle between light and dark, so there is fighting. But not great gory detail. All in all, this is a charming tale taken and turned modern and a very enjoyable read.

Sadly lacking

I've been debating for the last few days after I finished this book/series whether or not I was going to bother reviewing it/adding it it my list of "Read" books on Goodreads.

Every so often, I get a craving if you will, for something in the romance/erotica etc. genres. And sadly, this did nothing for me.

I read the whole series because I found it while exploring my new Kindle Unlimited options and I thought it might be something I was interested in. And then I did read it and nothing of value was gained.

All the characters were basically one note, the action didn't thrill me, and the sex scenes were mediocre. Every so often, there'd be a line that would make me think that the series was suddenly going to get good, and then it wasn't and it didn't.

For all there were different POV's I kept mixing up who was who because all their "voices" were exactly the same. And then the pacing was either so slow, or way too speeded up (especially the last book) and everything got wrapped up way too neatly/quickly.

Normally I try to say at least one thing an author did well because I know writing is hard and it's difficult to put a piece of yourself out there like this in your works, but . . . All I can say is that I finished it instead of DNF-ing. I'm sorry to the author because I don't have anything to say.

DNF. This book lost me a third of the way through. The book has an intriguing concept - I really would love to hear more about that Gaelic/raven/Morrigan mythology - but this sole focus on whom she's going to have sex with is lame. Even after that question is answered somewhat, whom she's going to choose as her mate takes up all that space. It got old really fast. The characters are shallow and not well-illustrated. There is so much more that could be done to develop their relationships with each other and make a reader care about them. I really couldn't care less about the main character, which is a death knell for a book in my library. If I can't be stirred to open the book to find out what happens to her, it's over. The end. Also, the novel is littered with glaring editing errors, which were extra annoying on top of my existing annoyance.

Would not recommend, so rough.
The concept is really good and these books really could be great but they read more like a first draft the author didn't want to spend more time on. There are a LOT of plot holes, a lot of contradictory things, the lore and the magic are all over the place, really oddly specific on some notes but then super vague on others, but those frequently change throughout the book even if they aren't supposed to. In it's current state it is just poorly written.
All of the boys have the same "voice" so it's difficult to keep track of all of them and you never really get to know any of them. I'm not sure she knows how to write action, fighting or war so she would mostly skip over these notes and the few glimpses we got would be very rushed. The book likes to raise questions and then act like they were answered or say they were answered off screen but then we don't hear the answers. This would happen with mundane things too, like a character having or finishing a conversation, or just random middle parts of a conversation. Random parts of action or story arch that we need. It was a really odd choice, we would just suddenly get a one liner like, "She told me her name, he told me everything, after talking to him I understood." But this doesn't give the reader any answers. Sometimes it was put in unnecessary places that didn't make sense. For example the FL is talking to a slave girl, in the middle of their conversation the chapter ends, the next chapter starts with, "After that the slave girl had told me her name." So we think that they aren't talking anymore and this is a new scene but then their conversation picks right back up. Why not include that in their conversation? The author just says, the slave girl told me her name, but she doesn't then tell us the girls name. Later she just starts using it like we are supposed to know that is who it is but she never actually tells us. It came off more like a note she had put in for herself when she was writing and didn't know what she wanted the name to be yet and then she never went back and edited the book so it was never fixed.
There are no consequences to anything that ever happens.

I specifically picked up this book because of it's high rating and now I'm just annoyed. I wish people would rate things more honestly.

I love Ravens!!

This was my first story by Angel and I was enthralled right from the start. I will say Morgan’s character was easy to relate to being a bookworm myself and it very refreshing that throughout the entire series, her internal monologues were not the typical woman full of doubts and self-loathing. From the beginning Morgan had her own set of brass balls that she used to defend her written story about a young girl speaking with her 5 ravens. As the stories progressed I was pulled in by each of the raven’s different personalities. I was a little disappointed that we only saw snippets from their point of views but there was enough to keep me reading. We receive more than enough back story on Morgan and thought as we neared closer to book 3 or book 4 that the readers would see more of the Guardians’ back stories. But spoiler... we do not. Which again wasn’t completely necessary I guess in the bigger scheme of things. The ending to the series was heartfelt and a happy ending, but I was hoping for more depth and a conclusion to Morrigan and Casteel even if it was further in the future.

Hopefully, with the “new” people living at The Nead we will have some sequels or branch off series coming up soon! Amazing read and definitely recommended. I read the entire series in 2 days!!

So... I got pretty bored during these books. It's not that they were bad. But I wasn't a fan of sex being the source of life.
The thing that brought my score down was not my lack of interest since it's a personal preference. What brought the score down was the editing. What broke the camel's back was at one point the author meant to write 'chose', but instead wrote 'choose'. But not just any 'choose'. She wrote is with a NUMBER in it. It was spelled like this, 'cho0se'. Some of the sentences had extra words in them, but like I said, 'cho0se' was what broke it for me.
If you're willing to look past that, the story revolves mostly around a woman who relies on sex for healing and for her mates. I feel like these could have been wrapped up into a more complete book instead of dragged out so much. Especially with one of her mates in particular. Through 6 books. I felt the focus on mainly just 2 of the characters.

So all in all, I wasn't a fan. It wasn't my cup of tea, but my star rating is not for my lack of preference. It is for the fact that a word was spelled with a number. I can look over a lot of grammar issues in books if the story is great, but I've never come across a book with a word spelled with a number.

It took me some time to realize that I'm reading 6 books not just one very long book but I definitely prefer it that way.
This was a good book/ series. I enjoyed the development but all the doom and gloom got to be a bit too much so I read other books while resting from this one. I like the part of Morgan quickly regaining some of her memories about the ravens.
I only wonder how long would be her life span if the guys are immortal and she is a reincarnation.
Morgan is 1/3 of the Morrigan, which third I'm a bit confused but who cares when she gets to have 5 guardians. It takes her a while to claim them all but the encounters are hot. I like her confidence and I adore their servitude. They have to follow her lead so no matter how much they want to "protect" her she kind of shows them it doesn't work that way.
I'm kind of disappointed by the easy redeeming of Castiel who has tortured her mates to the point of madness, tried to rape her, defiantly hurt her, and then he tells her he loves the queen of war and that seals it... he is redeemed. The fuck.

Great read

I thoroughly enjoyed this box set. First, all 6 books are one story, one book broken into installments, so make sure you get the box set so you can read all the way through uninterrupted.

This story line was unique. First, it built on Celtic mythology, which is less common than others. Then, the twist on it was unique (trying not give any spoilers!)

I was happy to see the FMC was actually an adult (graduate school, 22) rather than the 17-18 that most authors seem to like to use for this genre. Sorry, I don’t want the end of the world depending on a 17 year old and her harem of boys. I prefer adults!

Grammar and spelling errors were minimal, so kudos to the author for actually having her book edited properly. This is a big peeve of mine, as every word processor can handle basic spelling and grammatical issues, but still there are tons of books out there with serious editing issues.

Would recommend, and I’ll definitely read more from this author.

In all honestly, it was a little disappointing. The beginning was getting interesting, but it slowly went on a down fall. Focus upon Morgan, a writer/author and a book worm, who wrote about Ravens that appeared in her dreams. She was accepted to NYU along with a scholarship of which she did not apply to. Her scholarship lead to be in the "dorm" with 5 men: Dylan, Daimen, Clinton, Bunny and Sam. What she discovers is that these 5 men are her guardians, her ravens and she is the Raven Queen. This is where Morgan begins to find herself and grow along with her Ravens. She also discovers the truth behind her parent's death and various occurrences in the past. One issue however is that Morgan has darkness inside of her. She is part "The Morrigan" of which she must destroy.

This is more or less a normal RH romance filled with steam, betrayal, plot twists and surprises. I say you can give it a try if it sounds interesting as many did enjoy this :)

All in all, a super entertaining series. The individual novels are incredibly short, but since they’re all together in one condensed version, that wasn’t an issue. I probably would’ve hated it if I had to wait for each novella to come out.

My only complaint about this is that the later novels could use some serious editing. It almost seemed like the author was in a rush to get the last 2-3 out and didn’t do the requisite editing. It’s not enough to make it unenjoyable, but it can be a little distracting at points.

The characters and filled out enough that they’re fun to get to know more, but not fully formed to the point where you fall hard for them yourself. But that doesn’t take away from the enjoyment of the story.

So I liked it

I liked it. It has a good plot and story line. The characters were original and interesting. I just couldn’t really get into the meat of the plot. A few times it was a little anticlimactic and aimless.
It wasn’t until I believe the 3rd book when we find out who the antagonist is, and the books are so short, we get the same info dump in the beginning of each one. I admit I skipped books 4-6 except for a few chapters where I tried to get back into the story but just couldn’t catch my bearings. So I skipped to the end and finished the story.

I’ll probably look at some of her other books and the spin off series to this one looks promising, but so far not really impressed.
This is an honest review.

***3.5 stars***

I enjoyed this book series because I love when mythology gets combined with a modern twist and Lawson combined the two nicely. I really liked the story, but I had to deduct a star for the editing in the book. It was extremely cringe worthy at times, and at one point Lawson wrote the wrong guy's name twice in consecutive sentences when it was supposed to be Clinton's POV.

I really liked all the POVs, but I wish we could have gotten a little more in depth characterization for each of the men cause they all sounded moderately similar, but it wasn't impossible to tell them apart thankfully.

4 stars for The Raven Queen’s Harem books 1-6 by Angel Lawson. This is my first book from this author and I loved it. In this book is different than most other Reverse Harems that I have read, it is original. Morgan, Dylan, Daimen, Clinton, Bunny and Sam. “In just one day, I already feel closer to these men than I thought was possible.” This book is filled with everything hot sex, love, drama, all the feels and betrayal. Morgan is a badass and knows what she has to do. If you love reverse harem books filled with suspense and so much more than this book is for you. The series did fill a little long to me but it was still great. Also the ending shocked me . I recommend this series.

now don’t get me wrong I usually love this author but…

I find the main character completely irredeemable. So I struggled with her character the whole time… she’s INCREDIBLY selfish to the point where it’s completely illogical that anyone would even like her…

**Warning Spoilers**

I mean just pick one mate the fate of the world literally rests on it most people would like choose anyone just to save the ENTIRE population 👀

Also this was all caused because of one rejection… I mean what is that about… narcissistic to the extreme or what?!

I Love the Lords series and others by this author but it’s hard to keep reading this when the heroine is such an awful person 😂

Great series!

I love the mythos in this story. The way the ravens are woven in is lovely. It’s well written and decently edited. (A few typos here and there but nothing that will drive you crazy while you are reading.) The story has a good flow. I would consider this a medium burn RH series. I love the fact that it is offered in a set. The characters have some decent development and depth. Her relationships are different with each man which keeps it intriguing. Worth the read, but not a series I will come back to again and again.

Starting this out I didnt think I would like it. The more I read the more I fell in love. I need a harem end of discussion. Morgan has her hands full for sure. Her men wow. 5 men all with different jobs and needs. I dont know about bunny even done with the set I don't know! It was really good.
One thing I didnt like many many grammar errors. The more we got to the end the more there was...kinda like I have them hooked they wont notice. I did notice.
Now I have to read the valkery series...my reading list gets longer and longer enjoy!

So, I’m not a fan of reverse harem, mainly because I feel the romantical attractions are always always always underdeveloped. That’s kinda what happened here.... The guys all blend into each other, and there was no real build to them.
The solid 3* is because I did like the female MC and the mythology background, that was the best bit of the entire series!
A decent read, but don’t go into it like I did expecting awesome romance development 😂 Sorry. Great mythology intertwoven and the pace of the story was fast!

A good read

I'm glad that I read this series as a collection instead of as installments. The cliffhanger ending would have driven me mad. I felt that this was an interesting take on the story of Morrigan and her Ravens. The idea of her soul being split into three separate women was captivating. Then having those parts fighting to start, contribute to, and or stop the apocalypse. Add in a plague, otherworldly creatures, a betrayal and you have a kick @as read.

Not the best of angel Lawson’s. It was an okay kind of RH. The orgasm saved the rest of humanity? Man, that was real absurd. I like the intimate scenes, really. But sex as the source of energy and power? Really? Some authors use this kind of idea too and I find it really...foolish. Sorry, just my opinion. But if it doesn’t bother you, I say this book is an ‘okay’. I skipped some paragraphs as they didn’t entertain me well..

In the past few months, I've read quite a few of Lawson's books, and have thoroughly enjoyed each story, The Raven Queen's Harem was no exception, Unique story line, wonderful characters with loads of personality and quirks, and great relationship development. Some of the plot was obvious, and you have to wonder how Morgan can't see some glaring clues, but then the author makes a reveal that I didn't see coming. Loved the read, especially as a box set.

This book is actually a series of six books together, but it feels much more like one book with six parts. The first two books moved a little slow and considering the title I was anticipating more steamy chapters, but the story grew and blossomed until it was more the story sucking me into the Morrigan mythology than the steamy pieces as they came. By the fourth book I couldn't stop reading and was fully emerged into the world surrounded by the gods and the dangers of Darkness and War.

DNF. I got to chapter twelve and realized... this is a book about 5 supernatural adults befriending a child and socially isolating her, then grooming her to be one of their sexual partners. They basically raise her.

If the reader finds out that this isn’t actually what happens and her “memories”/writing is false later in the stories, please tell me, because I like this author but could not stomach.

Outstanding!!!

A fantastic series from start to finish, I definitely recommend this series as Unputdownable!!!
From the very first paragraph I was hooked with this unique telling of the mythological story of The Morrigan, told by a young girl with a vivid imagination, the twist and the turns and the sexy as sin men who appear in her life, the story is original and the writing is outstanding.
