This lively, lighthearted first book about bunnies is written and illustrated by the famous Richard Scarry. A longtime favorite with little readers, the book shows lots of different kinds of bunnies -- on the run, nibbling in Farmer Brown's garden, or bringing up great big families.
RICHARD SCARRY is one of the world's best-loved children's authors EVER! In his extraordinary career, Scarry illustrated over 150 books, many of which have never been out of print. His books have sold over 100 million copies around the world, and are currently published in over twenty languages. No other illustrator has shown such a lively interest in the words and concepts of early childhood. Richard Scarry was posthumously awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Society of Illustrators in 2012.
This wasn't the actual book that I was looking for but it was a fun one and one that I chose to take a quick read through. If young readers enjoy learning about bunnies this will be the best book for them as it takes the reader through bunnies, what they like to do and how they live or appear. As a result there are Easter connotations within the story itself.
Although I selected this for my nature and animals children shelf there are some aspects that are clearly part of the author's creativity such as bunnies in books should dress us. After all this is Richard Scarry that we are talking about.
All in all it is fast, informative and cute so it should definitely be a nice little addition to the library, especially if a family has a pet bunny of their own.
A favorite! The illustrations are so, so charming; there are facts about bunnies perfect for two-to-four-year-olds; and the sense of humor is perfection.
While I appreciate the subject and technical artistry of the book, I felt like the narrative lacked cohesion. I believe the author was trying to express too many disparate ideas.
This book has such a retro feel to it. It brings back memories of my youth pretty strong. Unlike todays books this book has a soft spine and lays flat (ISBN 0307100480). The illustrations are colorful and nicely drawn and just great. Recommended. My two kids loved this.
I. Just. Can't. Even. I had a soft spot for Richard Scarry before, but now I have an even bigger one. Perfectly adorable, informative, age-appropriate language paired with the cutest/most beautiful illustrations you've ever seen. And the whole book is bunny-shaped. What's not to love?
This is a fun Richard Scarry book. The illustrations are not the Busy Town illustrations most people know but ones similar to the illustrations he did for his wife's, Patricia Scarry, The Country Mouse and the City Mouse, The Fox and the Crow, The Dog and His Bone: Three Aesop's Fables Golden book. This book is nonfiction and talks about different types of rabbits and what they enjoy doing.
A great board book to read to little ones at spring time. It's almost an introduction to non-fiction as it describes basic facts about what bunnies look like, what they eat, how big their families are. My favourite pages are the last few which describe how some bunnies wear clothes and some are made out of chocolate.
Pahvinen tietokirja perheen pienimmille. Richard Scarryn kuvitus on nostalginen, mutta toimii vielä tänäkin päivänä. Kirjassa kerrotaan erilaisista pupuista. Kuvitus on pääosassa, mutta luettavaakin on. Kirja sopii monen ikäiselle, koska siinä riittää katsottavaa hyvin pienellekin ja teksti puolestaan kiinnostaa vähän isompia.
If a Richard Scarry book comes across your path you don't question your age or your life experience you just read it because you know its a Richard Scarry book
Suuuuuper cute. How can you not like this one? And our copy is actually not square/rectangular but in the shape of the cover bunny clutching the cabbage.
Read this totally out of season (there's a brief mention of Easter) but it was a fun book with a good sense of humor that MicroMort enjoyed. Not a lot to it, but sometimes that is fine!
M picked this out himself at the library and couldn't wait to read it. The illustrations were big and clear, the text was sparse but interesting. Overall, not a bad board book.
