A small book that packs a punch. Dana Candler opens up a door for the follower of God to enter, where wholehearted devotion is not just a pipe dream but a very real possibility. This is a book that deserves multiple visits.

This book reminded me that God has poured out His everything for us. In the giving of His only Son, He gave all without reserve. He had not laid down His life, His all, in part, but has done so in entirety. Now, He asks of me only what He Himself has already given. He wants my everything for His everything, my all for His all, my entirety for His entirety. He asks that I lay down my life in love even as He has laid down His.

Oh Lord, if only I would set my eyes on seeing. Thank You for this extravagance - the sunset, the rain, the sky, the very love You have loved Your Son to also be within us - love unspeakably full in its utter givenness. May my whole livelihood be about You. I want to love You more. Ruin me again and again, till I'm driven to an intense excessiveness in my abandonment to You. May this intense resolve of love and sacrifice be a reflection of an eternal attribute of Your own love - a love that gives entirely. Help me to love You in extravagance, even as You have loved lavishly from all eternity. Help me to keep responding to You, keep crying out for and receiving Your help all along the way to overcome the obstacles and triumph over the enemies. May our love be entire, not just sincere. Then, help me to surrender amidst the commonness of everyday life, to stay faithful in the mundane.

I need You so much, Lord Jesus.
