I really wanted to be WOW'ed by this book but I wasn't. The storyline seemed unbelievable to me, hero/heroine are kidnapped, escape and then run around Mexico trying to rescue a kidnapped girl and bring down a cartel. The heroine was pretty ingenious, her dream of being a cop ended five years ago when she was shot yet she still hangs on, on desk duty letting her life pass by. The heroine on the other hand works with ICE and loves the ladies but that life doesn't seem to be working for him, ever since his best friend got hitched to the heroine's sister he has felt restless and weird. He thinks the heroine is uptight, the heroine thinks the hero is a romeo but both get stuck together. I liked that the hero fell hard for the heroine while she was hell bent on building walls between them since she thought she was just a convenience for him. I felt the book had potential but there was something missing for me.

Very good book. Camille and Aaron have been at each other's throats for two years. She considers him to be a too charming, always gets what he wants waste and he thinks she's an uptight pain in the butt. When they get kidnapped by a Mexican cartel it's up to them to save themselves. I loved both Camille and Aaron. I could tell that those sparks that were flying weren't just about dislike, they were about an attraction that neither wanted to admit. I loved the description of when they first met and how Aaron tried to put his usual moves on her and she shot him down. I enjoyed seeing the way that Camille was the one that engineered their escape from captivity. She has incredible ingenuity and strength of will to be able to do the things she does. Her biggest problem is her inability to believe that Aaron is actually interested in her the way she is. I really enjoyed seeing her as she started to open up to Aaron and when she finally admitted to herself that she loved him. Aaron was a pretty cool character too. At first I could see the lighthearted playboy in him. He seems to really enjoy jerking her chain. I loved the way that he was so surprised at the way that she got them out of the place they were being held, and also that he freely admitted that she was the one who did it. I also liked the way he watched out for her and tried to take care of her when she needed it. He came to realize that her independence hid her insecurities and he did his best to help her overcome those. When they finally gave in to their attraction the passion between them was really intense. I really enjoyed the ending and the way that they surprised everyone. I'd love to know what Camille ends up doing.

This was my 2nd Melissa Cutler book (it was her 1st Romantic Suspense published.) She has a fan for life. I just can’t believe that I never read Romantic Suspense before…….I love, love, love them! Seduction under Fire is like a great action movie with a romantic twist, plus you get to read what is really going on in the mind of the characters. Cutler does a fantastic job exploring the sexual tension between Aaron and Camille, who we are lead to believe have “hated” each other for years. Through Cutler’s writing I felt that I got to know their vulnerabilities and what the characters considered their weaknesses. Both characters are strong, bold personalities and Cutler keeps them true to themselves and to readers even when she shows us the softer sides. I enjoyed these two, and I found myself cheering them on and yes occasionally yelling at them……..isn’t that what a good book does though makes you think the characters can actually hear you and follow your instructions. I am ready to ready to read more RS, and definitely more from Melissa Cutler.

I had the honor of reviewing an advanced copy of Seduction Under Fire, and I'm so happy I moved it to the top of my TBR list! Seduction Under Fire is a fast-paced thrill ride where two sworn enemies have to rely on each other to stay alive.

I loved this book! It's well-written, funny, action-packed, and the hero and heroine's journey kept my attention through the whole book. I also can't complain about the beautifully spicy loves scenes. I would definitely recommend this book. I hope it's the first in a series, as I would gladly snatch up the rest!

Camille Fisher has been working at the dispatch desk for five years, ever since she was accidentally shot by her partner during a stakeout. She was part of San Diego Police Department’s Special Forces and at the time was the youngest female member. She was placed on desk duty because of the injury to her leg and she is suffering from PTSD and is unable to hold her right arm steady enough to fire a gun.

Camille’s former partner Jacob is married to her sister Juliana and they are awaiting the birth of their first child, Camille is very excited about the birth, except for the fact that she will be unable to avoid Jacob's best friend Aaron Montgomery, a man that Camille can’t stand. They met two years ago and she took an instant dislike to him and Aaron loves to stir the pot when they are together.

Camille has been asked to talk to the press about a missing five year old girl named Rosalia Perez. The police believe Rosalia has been kidnapped by her biological father Rodrigo Perez who is a member of a Mexican cartel called the Cortez Cartel. Aaron is also on the case, currently a park ranger who has gone through rigorous training in weapons and combat tactics to be able to transfer into the ICE program (Federal Immigration and Customs).

Both Camille and Aaron meet on their way to visit Juliana, Jacob and their new baby, as they argue and walk through the parking garage, a white van drives up and grabs them, forcing them into the van, they are drugged as the van takes off. They wake while in flight as the kidnappers are attaching parachutes to them and somewhere over the desert of Mexico they all jump out of the plane. Successfully landing they are taken to a compound where a small child (Rosalia) tells them in English that their picture will be sent to American officials and they have one day to release prisoners recently captured by ICE.

Camille and Aaron are not waiting around for help; they get out of their ropes and make their way through the house where they find weapons and money. They throw a couple of grenades into the house for a diversion and make their way on horseback toward the ocean. They believe they are not far from La Paz and with the help of some friendly beach dwellers they contact ICE and arrive in town.
Now that the cartel knows about them, they agree that they do not have much of a future and Camille desperately wants to rescue Rosalia so they decide to stay in the area and see what they can do about both Rosalia and dismantling the cartel.

I really enjoyed this book; it was a roller coaster ride from start to finish. Camille and Aaron are running from one trouble spot to another, the action is amazing as they use all their expertise to try to foil plans to kill them, all the while realizing they both are viewing each other differently. Camille realizes that she needs to make several changes in her life; Aaron makes her see that she has not been living her life to the fullest and she desperately wants to in the future. If they survive Mexico they both want to make those life changes together.

My Review:
I really enjoyed this book. From the very start, it's clear that Camille and Aaron do not get along. Their connection is that his best friend is married to her sister so they have to deal with each other on a somewhat regular basis, but they do everything they can to avoid each other. Aaron is a man-whore who lives under a lucky star and it drives Camille batty. In her eyes, he's completely full of himself and a pig. She's had the worst luck possible and to watch him bask in the glow of a perfect life drives her nuts especially as she watches the bimbos circle around him.

What neither one of them realize is that they are both working cases (Aaron works for ICE and Camille works for the police force) that involve the Mexican cartel. So when they are both kidnapped on the way to see their newly arrived god-child, they both think that they are the ones to blame. (In actuality, it's Aaron's fault....Camille just has the bad luck of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.) But the fact is that they've been kidnapped and are in an extremely dangerous situation so they have to put their differences aside and work together so that they will make it out of this alive.

Immediately, Aaron is surprised at how tough Camille is. I loved that. She has the brains and the iron will that come from her job even if she's not allowed to do it anymore because she was shot five years before. I love her character and the fact that she is the one constantly saving them and getting them out of jams. As he begins to see Camille in another light, Aaron also undergoes a transformation into a truly caring, wonderful guy. I loved the dichotomy between the two of them and the way that Melissa wrote their relationship development. It just felt right and was really fraught with tension that I loved. I honestly couldn't turn the pages in this book fast enough.

Overall, this was a fabulous read. Romantic Suspense is one of my favorite genres and Melissa Cutler wrote a great story here. It was super-romantic. There are some lines that come from Aaron in the last 25% that honestly just made my heart melt. I love how well he sees Camille and the wall she puts between them. There's also some amazing action in this book. From page one until the very end, both these characters are in and out of danger and I loved that. Talk about ratcheting up the suspense. Just really well-done! I'm so glad I read it!

I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.

Seduction Under Fire is another Melissa Cutler success! She's as great a romance novelist as I've experienced before! Now Seduction Under Fire was sort of a #0.5 in the ICE: Black Ops Defenders series ( of which #1 Tempted by Danger is coming out in June, which is awesome if I may add ) and a great romantic suspense story, it kicks off right away with the kidnapping of two people who hate each other to the core, and continues with their blossoming respect of each others special skill sets and big case of attraction under extreme circumstances. Which was so entertaining and so fun to read!

Aaron was your typical playboy, good looks, tons of charm and attitude a mile wide - and when those didn't impress Camille they immediately didn't hit it off, in fact the hate is pretty much the third main character in this book. I did like Aaron in action, as did Camille, the rake was gone and you had an iron skilled operative, sexy as hell. But what I loved especially was Aaron falling head over heels with Camille and discovering his inner possessive caveman. ;)

Camille really couldn't catch a break, job wise, relationship wise just all around unlucky, which kinda had her turned into a martyr. She was happy to die to save a kidnapped child, take down the drug cartel or die trying. Camille definitely was a strong woman, skilled San Diego Special Forces operative before she got shot in the job and was but behind desk and got a good case of PTSD shakes. When Aaron starts showing attraction to her she's confused and when he begins to seduce her she about bolts, because how could anything go good in her life? We'll you'll just see.

I'm impressed by Melissa Cutler's writing ability, she knows how to write a tight package of suspense, lust and love, you'll never bore or wanna skip pages because you just have to see what happens next - be it action or seduction!

High octane ride from start to finish.

Camille Fisher always wanted to be the best police officer and had made it to San Diego Special Forces unit. But five years ago she was shot in the leg and had been on desk duty ever sense. She has been put in charge of being the police spoke person for a kidnapping of a young child that they fear involves her father who is a member of the Cortez Cartel in Mexico.

Aaron Montgomery works for the Park Ranger service but had been put on a task force with ICE to help with the take down of drugs, guns and human trafficking. He was recently part of a team that had captured two cartel members.

Camille and Aaron have known each other a while. Camille's sister is married to Aaron's best friend. But the problem is they hate each other. When Camille's sister goes into labor they both take off to the hospital where they are both kidnapped and drugged and taken away to Mexico.

Now the action begins. Camille is like a female MacGyver. She can get herself out of almost any situation. She gets herself and Aaron away from their kidnappers and on the run they go.

This was a great action, suspense romantic tale. The author did a great job of balancing them all together.

What happens when two people can't stand each other get kidnapped. A mind blowing escape and survival of the heart.

Camille and Aaron despise each other. For two years they only barely tolerated each other. Then, the unthinkable happens they are kidnapped by the Mexical Cartel. After escaping, in order to survive they have to trust each other. Not easy for Camille who thinks Aaron is just a pretty playboy. Now on the run with only each other to trust, it's survival for there lives and survival of the heart.

I received a copy of this book from the author, and started it shortly after that. Then I moved and it got lost in a box. I found it and finished it the next day.
This is a great read if you're looking for something fun, sexy, and a little bit dangerous. The hero was a little too "alpha-I-know-what-you-want-better-than-you-do" for my general taste, but that's why it's four stars and not five.
Great little book by a great writer!

I'm a huge Melissa Cutler fan, so I was excited to learn about the release of Seduction Under Fire! I loved her other books and couldn't wait to read this one. From the first page, I was immediately wrapped up in Diego's and Vanessa's journey! Their romance is HOT! Rather than recap the plot of the story, I will just say that you should be prepared to not set this book down until you have finished the last page! Now I can't wait for her next book! An absolute must-read!!

Another good one from Melissa Cutler. Camille is a strong women but doesn't believe in herself. Aaron is a strong man who finds himself falling in love with this woman he would normally not be attracted to. Together they surprise each other and make a great team. Action, adventure and passion, keeps you going to the very end.
