Heather Lowell asked herself this question after moving to Prichett, Wisconsin, to temporarily manage the Cut and Curl Beauty Salon. She's hopeful that this summer she will finally find the love of her life. She even has a list detailing everything she wants in her Prince Charming. But when two men enter her life, Heather suddenly needs to figure out what she really wants-and whether handyman Ian Dexter or rebel-artist Jared Ward figures into her happily ever after.
Kathryn Springer grew up in a small town in Wisconsin, where her parents published a weekly newspaper. As a child, she spent many hours sitting at her mother’s typewriter, plunking out stories, and credits her parents for instilling in her a love of books – which eventually turned into a desire to tell stories of her own.
After a number of busy years, when she married her college sweetheart and became a stay-at-home mom, Kathryn rediscovered her love for writing. An unexpected snow day from school became the inspiration for a short story, which she submitted to Brio magazine. She went on to publish over a dozen more short stories for Brio, but it wasn’t until her youngest child started school that she decided to pursue her dream to write a book. In August 2004, her Love Inspired® debut novel, Tested by Fire, was published.
Fast forward to today and Kathryn has written over thirty novels. She lives on a lake in northern Wisconsin where she enjoys long walks in the woods and the change of seasons (although sometimes she wishes the "change" between winter and spring didn't last quite so long!) When she isn’t at the computer, you’ll find her spending time with family and friends, paging through cooking magazines or sitting in the sun. A really, really good day includes all three! If you want to know more, follow her blog Table Grace. . .thoughts and musings on living a life with nothing artificial added.
This is the third book in the series about a small town called Pritchett. I originally grabbed the first book, Front Porch Princess, to read for a school assignment, not expecting much other than a quick read. I was pleasantly surprised! I fell in love with the characters and actually found some great wisdom admist the humor and love stories. I really enjoy Kathryn Springer's writing style. She made me laugh and cry and I didn't want to put this book down! If you want a great book about faith and love, and friendship, try this series!
I wish I'd read this book when I was 20. Heather isn't really looking for love or a reason to settle down in Pritchett, but she is at an age when marriage is an appealing prospect and every guy looks like a candidate. Heather spends a lot of time trying to justify a relationship with a guy who just doesn't want the same things as her... particularly her faith. Meanwhile, a special friendship forms naturally with a guy whose heart IS after God.
The story moves along nicely with the same sort of lovable characters from Springers's other Pritchett books. I especially like all the time we get to spend in Heather's head as she tries to figure out where her heart is leading her... and if she should trust her heart or her faith. This book is a great read for young women thinking about dating or courting in a world that pressures them to do more than what is good for their bodies, minds or hearts. Self-control is possible, even when temptation is real.
Absolutely loved it! These three books are quirky and funny but not over-the-top like some (I can't usually tolerate "chick lit" because it's just too silly). This book has spiritual depth and puts a spotlight on community and how real ministry happens (one person at a time and through relationships). I am so glad I overlooked the cartoonish covers to give these books and this author a try (I've already bought another of her books that I can't wait to read). Highly recommend!
The first book was not my favorite. I think I gave it 2 stars. However, since my sister had given me the three book set, I keep reading. The second book was so much better, but this third book is the BEST! I just loved every minute of it! Fun but with some touching moments!
My first ever christian romance novel! It was a light read although as someone who does not actively go around talking about my personal faith it took a minute for me to get used to how loud Heather is about it in every situation except one of the ones that seems to be most important to her. Kind of annoying. But she is kindhearted and the novel itself is pretty funny.
This is the 3rd in a series about a small town called Pritchett and the residents of this town.
This story focuses on Heather, the daughter to Bernice and Alex, although she didn't find this out until the 2nd book (I think, maybe the 1st). Bernice and Alex have finally gotten married and left on a 2 month honeymoon through Europe. Heather, having her cosmotology license, takes over running the Cut and Curl for Bernice and really gets involved in small town life.
Along the way she meets 2 guys, is one destined to be her soul mate? You'll only find out if you read the book!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and it was a very fast read for me.
This may be my favorite book of all time. The characters are so quirky and charismatic that one can't help but love them. I found myself relating to the main character, Heather, so it was like reading a book about myself. This book offered great wisdom, and I sometimes find myself referencing the book for it's wise words. I would lovelovelove for a sequel to this book to see where the story and lives of Heather and her friends continue to go.
This is a very sweet book. It's about a girl who has a list of what she's looking for in a man, hence the book title, and discovers along the way what she really wants out of life. It's not mind-blowing, but it is well-written and lighthearted. It will definitely put a smile on your face and you will remember it for years afterwards, but it's not one of those life-changing books that you'll go back to over and over again. All in all I think it's definitely worth a read.
This is one of the most enjoyable Christian chick lit novels I've read in a long time. I didn't realize it was part of a series; it stands on its own. Fun and entertaining, but with some good thoughts to mull over.
