Accused of being an eternal optimist, I was born and raised in the Midwest and migrated to the Pacific Northwest a few years ago. I began spinning tales of intrigue and adventure when I was in grade school, and wrote my first book when I was eleven — a thriller that ended with a mysterious phone call the reader never heard!

My college sweetheart and I have been married for over 20 years and are blessed with two wonderful sons, a bossy kitty and feisty Golden Retriever.

When not dreaming up inspirational tales, I’m usually out hiking in the Cascade Mountains, enjoying a fine cup of tea with friends, or hiding out in a movie theatre. I love to hear from readers! hopewhiteauthor@gmail.com

One of the worst in this series. We are dropped immediAtely into the lives of two of the most wimpy, self-doubting, self-assuming, and uncommunicative protagonists so far, and we are supposed to care about them. The same things happen or are said again and again. And, on top of it all, in two places, the English was bad - "Me and her will ..." instead of "She and I will ...", and "He is doing good ..." when the context clearly needs, "He is doing well ..."

This is the 1st book I read by Hope White. I'm sorry I stopped reading this story at chapter 3 because it didn't hold my interest.

Overall, I liked the story. I’ve read Safe Harbor (same characters as the Echo Mountain series) and books 1-3 of 6. The characters are well developed, but oh so similar. Most have a history of abuse or severe trauma, lack confidence and are self-deprecating to a fault. That is not an attractive quality, especially in a man. And quite often BOTH the lead male AND female have those same qualities. The faith aspect is not strong – if it were stronger, perhaps the characters would find true strength in God and stop the pity-parties. In these books, so far, it’s more of an “I can’t believe I just prayed” … and then call that ‘salvation’ or ‘returning to faith in God’ when even a non-believer/agnostic may likely pray in the same situation. And then to top it off, they often return to the self-deprecating. Even though the characters are well developed, they are so similar that you could easily interchange them, especially the men.

I did like the story itself and will probably continue reading the series – mainly because I was able to get the next book in the series for almost nothing with Kindle credits and the last two are available through the library.

Filled with action and surprises!

Nia is climbing a mountain to tell her boss Aiden that strange men are asking questions about him at the resort. Then the man catch up to her and she falls while running away from them. After Aiden saves her, bad things keep happening to both of them. This is the start of an action packed adventure that keeps you guessing until the very end.

The pace is breakneck and the tone is uncertain yet hopeful with an action and character oriented storyline that has some kisses but no steam. The characters are vibrant and engaging. The Christian ideals are woven into the story and move it forward well. I would read Safe Harbor by Hope White before reading this series in order. It introduced many of the characters in this series. Enjoy!

I liked the gradual development of Aiden and Nia's relationship from their already strong friendship. The fact that Nia knew how to gently handle Aiden's PTSD was a nice contrast to Aiden'ts compulsively protective nature. The biggest problem I had with the plot was that there were too many "unknown" characters: It was hard to follow which feds were crooked, which made the end confusing.

Nia and Aiden's story. Much to be learned here about transparency and trust.

I basically skimmed this book. But I feel I missed nothing skipping around pages and even chapters. It was a good concept but not a bit interesting. So boring and drawn out.

I didn't care for this book at all. The beginning was boring. The two main characters spent a lot of time second guessing themselves and that got old fast, plus their past kept being mentioned or thought about over and over when once would have been enough to clue the readers in on what had happened. The dialogue seemed stilted and didn't flow, especially between Aiden and Nia.

Finally, the main guy, Aiden, had a serious football injury, yet he was able to join the army and his bum knee gave out during a search in a foreign country and one of his friends was killed. No military service would have accepted the guy with a serious knee injury, so that alone raised questions on everything else in the book as to accuracy.

This may be fiction, but we do like accuracy such as search and rescue techniques, police techniques, FBI techniques, etc.

"Part of the Echo Mountain series, the characters remind the reader that while we all have regrets, we are not responsible for the mistakes that others make. Nia’s emotional journey is identifiable, as many people feel the need to protect loved ones" (RT Book Reviews, 4 stars).
