In twelve parts, this series adapted Anne Rice's classic of modern horror. Interview with the Vampire stars the vampire Lestat, eldest of all the undead. For hundreds of years he has lurked about in the shadows of our world-ever since he himself felt the bite of vampiric fangs in his own neck so long ago. Now the time has come to tell the remarkable story of his life-and unlife. It's a story of power, betrayal, remorse, and the love of the damned. And in telling his story to the hapless interviewer, he sheds light not only on his own existence, but on an entire underworld where love and pain do not stop with death.
Voltar a Interview with the Vampire é indescritível.
What can be said about a work that, in its original version, probably did for the vampire myth what Bram Stoker’s Dracula did a century earlier? Perhaps nothing that hasn’t already been said — except that this graphic novel reminds us why Interview With The Vampire endures as a grand, tragic fresco of immortality, guilt, and desire. Cynthy J. Wood’s adaptation captures the tormented introspection of Louis and the intoxicating charisma of Lestat with remarkable fidelity. The dialogue retains Rice’s lyrical melancholy, while Joseph Phillips’ paintings elevate the story into something almost operatic — lush, shadowed, and deeply human even in its darkest moments. This isn’t just a retelling; it’s a visual meditation on what it means to be condemned to eternity, beautifully rendered and emotionally gripping. A must for any admirer of Anne Rice, or for anyone who believes that the vampire’s curse is, above all, the burden of consciousness itself.
Picked the first in the series up at random in an antique and second hand book store. I'm yet to read the book or watch the film but definitely even more intrigued to watch/read now. I enjoyed this as a super quick read and liked the art style. I'm not hooked enough to go searching for the other 11 issues but if I by chance come across them I'd happily read them.
I'm not sure the choice to do watercolour all the way was a good one. It looks gorgeous with some panels, on which the artist obviously spent time, but makes unreadable the ones done quickly. Won't say anything bad about the text, it's literally book quotes.
