Neill Brothers #2

Their Haunted Nights

Rate this book
(Alternate Cover Edition for B06XK1FRN7.)

Lonely and desperate, Marcus Neill visits a brothel, searching for a taste of what he’s denied himself for years. Once there, his shame and scruples prevent him from taking a prostitute, so he turns to drink instead. Too drunk to defend himself, he is beaten, robbed, and left for dead on the street.

A flat overlooking a notorious brothel is not ideal lodgings for a war widow, yet there is nowhere do-gooder Helen Helmsley would rather be. When she finds a wounded stranger outside her door, she knows it’s her duty to save him…but nursing the handsome man in her bed might be more than she bargained for.

Compassionate Romance with Surprising Character Substance

I don't typically read this sort of romance, however, after the 1st in the series...I was invested in seeing if Brody's brother would ever get released from the prison of his family and the weight of being the responsible eldest sibling. As the eldest in my family, there are certain things I identified with in book one concerning the family dynamic and human nature. Although I consider these more a guilty pleasure type of read, I enjoy the evolving characters and their relationships. There is actual substance to the main characters and the author does a great job at engaging your interest in their lives, not just for the sake of it being a romantic mystery. Now that I care for Agnes, I am hoping her continued thread in book 3 resolves my concerns for her story. Give this series a try, even if you're not much for romance novels. These are surprisingly enthralling. You will find yourself cheering for certain characters.

Their Haunted Nights

I love Allyson Jeleyne's books. Yes there is a lot of sex If that bothers you don't read any of them. But you will be missing out of reading a great story line. This book is the second book about the Neill brothers. This is Marcus's story. Marcus found Helen who nursed him back to health after Marcus was brutally beaten. They fell in love. Helen is a very kind and loving person. She brings the best out in Marcus. Helen helps out in an orphanage. Marcus falls in love with Baby Joy. Helen also helps the prostitutes who are brutally beaten. Marcus pays for the surgery the one girl will need. This is a must read book. It shows how coming from a rich dysfunctional family doesn't mean you will be mean spirited.

I think this is my favorite out of all her books. Marcus lost a leg in the war and uses a prosthetic. But he gets on just fine. He works hard in the family business and is a respectable guy. In a moment of weakness, he hires a working girl but can't get it up. Leaving the club, he is robbed and left to die. Helen comes to the rescue. She is a war widow and nurse. She believes in doing good works. Helen and Marcus become lovers and team up to make their city better. Will love be a distraction that gets in the way of their responsibilities??

He wanted to have sex so he went to a brothel, but he couldn't it so he got drunk instead. He is then robbed, beaten and left for dead. She is a war widow but she helps him. She loves where she lives even though it is behind the brothel. Life may change for them both

Great addition to the series. Outside of my usual read. Enjoyable all the same. I haven't read the rest of the series so no spoilers. I was given a review copy and voluntarily review it.

These books are great romance mysteries but be prepared they are also super hot

We met Marcus in book 1 The Solemn Bell and I was interested to see how his story would play out and I wasn't disappointed. In this book he meets
Helen who nursed him back to health after his brutal beating She is a caring compassionate soul she also cares for orphans and the prostitutes of the area She brings out the best in Marcus to the point that he pays for the care of some of the working girls and falls in love with a baby at the orphanage. There is enough drama and suspense to keep you engaged in this book but be prepared there is a lot of steamy encounters as well
