One world for humankind. One world for shadowkind. Legend speaks of a third, the Promised Land. The hardened hunters reject this theory wholeheartedly, while the young dream of a better place.
I'm Sancha Porter, and I'm somewhere in between. Yet, when the latest addition to the team starts asking questions my world is about to take a dramatic turn.
"Speaking Shadows" was an intriguing and refreshing short story. The backstory of the world is revealed in a way that definitely sparks your interest and makes you even more curious to become familirized with the current situation.
The protagonist, Sancha, is a complex character with a burdened past but it plays a major role into creating the conflict in the story and into preparing the reader for the climax.
This story works amazingly as a short story but I would love to see it developed into a longer piece, too. It has the potential to become an amazing young-adult novel. It certainly hooks the reader and does not let him/her down, but instead keeps them engaged and interested until the very last word. I definitely recommend that you deveto some time to reading it.
