To explore every forbidden wish and desire... A once-in-a-lifetime love affair-that's what beautiful widowed Chris Nicholson and dangerous attractive Major Greg Reynolds agree to. After years of loneliness, Chris has given up on her fantasies of the perfect husband, but she does want the memories of one incredible love affair to warm her in the years ahead. Then she can settle down with a man who will make a good father for her little girl. The last thing in the world Greg wants is commitment or a family. He does, however, desire, need, fantasize about Chris. But once is never enough...
Olivia began her career as a novelist with Bantam Books in 1989 and published 17 titles under her real name and also the pen name Mallory Rush at Harlequin. Her books regularly appeared on mass market romance bestseller lists and credits include the Romantic Times Career Achievement Award. After an extended stint as a columnist for NINK, the official newsletter of the international author’s organization Novelists, Inc., she accepted the position of Editor and served on the Board of Directors.
As co-author of Zig-Zagging: Loving Madly, Losing Badly, How Ziggy Saved My Life with Ziggy cartoonist Tom Wilson (HCI Books), Olivia found a real love for memoir collaboration, which remains an area of special interest. In 2009 she was tapped to assist HCI Books Editorial Director Michele Matrisciani in developing the first Reality-Based Romance series, True Vows, launched in 2010.
A second chance romance, one that is not for the faint of heart as it does get graphic in parts. Chris is a widow with a six-year-old daughter, barely getting by as she mourns all she has lost. She is partly angry with Mark for leaving her with the burden of child-rearing on her own, but mostly she is desperately lonely. Adding her prayers to her daughter's, Chris is not prepared for the reappearance of her high school boyfriend on Christmas Eve, nevertheless, she spontaneously offers to assist him. The chemistry that had been alive between two teenagers is suddenly off the charts and as Greg challenges her at every turn, Chris finds herself questioning everything in her life. Greg, the soldier, is a dominant male and one with a history of failed relationships. Chris, on the other hand, is a teacher in a small conservative community and feels locked into a narrow band of choices. As Greg teases and taunts her into reevaluating her life, he doesn't get off lightly as the man who has determined never to marry again suddenly finds himself wanting more from a relationship. I was uncomfortable with many of the bedroom scenes in this book but was happy to see that Chris wasn't the only one being challenged and that Greg was forced to assess his life as well. The novel is a standalone and comes to a charming conclusion, but needs to come with an age restriction. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily post this review. This is a highly erotic story that was originally published in 1995. This story can easily give some of the newer books that are all the rage, a real run for their money. It is the story of rekindling a relationship that started in high-school. The heroine is now a widow with a young daughter and the hero is a Major in the Marines, twice divorced and an admitted cheater. Greg Reynolds is a master at love games and a relationship starved Chris Nicholson, whether she admits it or not, is ripe to play. This book will keep the reader riveted to each page! The main factor that makes this story so inviting is that there is a romance developing along with all the enticing sexual activity.
I loved this sensitive and lovingly erotic story. The characters were rich, deep and moving. The story was believable, but it was also sad with a side of hopeful. Each well written facet of this moving story had my emotions swirling as it reach towards an iffy happy ending. I was pulling for both of these likable but lonely and damaged lovers right up to the satisfying ending.
This is a book I will read again and again.

Love game is quite enjoyable to some extent but I found it difficult getting into the book at the beginning. Chris is a widow who loved her husband wholeheartedly and is devastated by his death and had sworn not to love any other man that way. Greg is a two time divorcee and an old crush if hers. They met over the Christmas holiday at her parents house and rekindled the flame, just a fling over a short period but that fling turned into their happily ever after.
