“They Shall Be Mine” highlights 21 short stories of ordinary, faithful followers of Jesus who brought the gospel to the unreached peoples of the world. Spanning from early 1700s to mid 1900s, you will be encouraged by the boldness of these Protestant believers and you will be reminded and left amazed at the faithfulness of God to redeem a people from every tribe, nation, language, and tongue. You will learn of lesser known missionaries like John Paton who ministered to cannibals, converts like Pietro Lorefice who then took the gospel back to his own people, and testimonies of virtually unknown people like Eliza Fletcher who God used heartache and loss to ready her heart for His calling .

This book is written at a junior high reading level and would be a fantastic supplement to any history or bible curriculum. Or just a rainy day read. I laughed at the commonness these believers faced, sympathized with the fears and imminent threats they received, and smiled at the unity of the Body in different cultures even just a few centuries ago. This book will ignite your passion for the nations and UPG/UUPGs, and cause you to marvel at the spread of the gospel and faithfulness of our Lord.

A collection of missionary tales, written for children. While the variety of stories is welcomed, they seem like a bit of varnish compared to the author’s constant commentary. I would rather select some of the stories from the bibliography.

This little book put out by Banner of Truth is a collection of short historical stories of Christians in history and the interesting circumstances that they found themselves in. Most all of the stories were those of which I was previously unaware; some were more interesting than others.

A book for young people. The individual stories vary in quality, with many that are inspiring.
