I was born and raised in sunny Saint Petersburg, FL on a steady diet of action movies and fantasy novels. After 9/11, I left a career in photography to join the United States Army. Since then, I have travelled the world and done everything from teaching English in China to driving a forklift. I studied creative writing at Eckerd College and wrote four hard-boiled mysteries for Delight Games before releasing the first Jake Noble book. When not writing, I can be found indoor rock climbing, playing the guitar, and haunting smoke-filled jazz clubs in downtown Saint Pete. I’m currently at work on another Jake Noble thriller. William Miller is a good writer! Not only does he keep readers on the edge of their seats, but he describes scenes using metaphors & similes in an original way. He also develops his protagonist more thoroughly in every book. Jake Noble is a former Special Forces and former CIA agent who is a supportive son who honors his mother's Christian faith even though he doesn't share it. Jake marches to his own drummer, but he loves his country without question.
There's a mole, a traitor inside the CIA. A station head is shot and killed by one of his own. The CIA'S new director turns to Jake Noble's handler, mentor for help. He recommends The only agent he knows who can handle The situation, Jake Noble. The shooter of the department head Jake knows well. This novel is non stop action from the first to last page. Enjoyed immensely!
Another good read, Jake Noble started out not so great in the first book, but he’s terrific in this one and in the #2 book. Action keeps your attention, hated putting it down. One comment, the editor doesn’t seem to know that “puss” is a cat, “pus”, one s is drainage. S/he should check the previous books, because it’s a consistent error. 🙄😆 on the other hand, if a wound is full of pus, it’s “pussy” lolol check it out.
I was thrilled to see the third book in the “Jake Noble” series. I have read the first two and was pleasantly surprised at how fast they read. I really like the way the author keeps the chapters short and the action moving. It makes it hard to put down. That’s the end of the positive review.
As in the first two books, the third was littered with misspellings and the constant use of “chewed the inside of one of his cheeks” or “pinched his / her nose between their fingers. One of the bad guys in this book is named “Grey” in one paragraph and “Gray” in the NEXT paragraph. I’m not sure who is proofreading these works before they’re published, but the person needs to find another occupation.
I’ll continue to read the series as they’re released but I’ll be hard pressed to recommend them. It’s not just this author having these issues, it seems to be a constant theme in ALL THE SERIES made available in the “Kindle Unlimited” bookstore.
Difficult to read because of the melodrama, misspelled words, overwrought use of British English mixed with American English (e.g., “pageboy cap”, “juddering”) – Why? – and passages that seem forced and oddball in their execution:
“A cold weight dropped into his belly like a slab of ice calved by a glacier.” “Sam’s heart was a jack rabbit . . .” “ . . . her eyes had a spark that not even cancer could extinguish.” “Noble barked in pain . . .” “Butterflies were zipping around inside his belly.”
And one passage spoke to Floridians wearing parkas as protection from a falling sky. Huh?
I really wanted to like this book series, upon the recommendation of someone I know. However, it is difficult to enjoy a work that is so over-the-top when it is supposed to be serious. I wish the author would get the help of a good proofreader.
Wanted: Proofreader, please! This poor writing did not entice me.
Average story with ghostly villains and no good guys or girls.
While I enjoyed this plot line the end left far too much unresolved. Even one book in a series needs to tidy up some crumbs before marching off to the next big meal. Noble needs threshing out as a character and Sam is a mystery still. The CIA creatures all need explanation and color to fill in between the lines. The first Noble story was better than this one. I’m waiting for the follow through Mr Miller.
Jake Noble is bad doing what he does best, including taking names
I like the over-the-top character of Jake Noble. Like most fictional characters, we want the to be more, do more, suffer more and make the bad guys pay! This series by author William Miller provides the perfect scenarios for Jake Noble to practice his craft. This third book is more Jake Noble - love it or leave it. For me, I've got another Jake Noble book to read, Noble Sanction.
I think Miller has written himself into a corner with this one
I'm not certain he can top this book. I read it without interruption over a day and 1/2. I was so engrossed following the storyline that I actually felt I was part of the Team trying to solve the crimes. I will continue to read Miller's Jake Noble books, but like I said, I think Miller will have to reach very deep to "out-do" this book! Best book I've read in years!
That's my comment on the last Jake Noble book. My only question is when will see number 4? Once again this was a great, fast moving spy thriller peopled with characters we know and love. One outcome I didn't like but won't talk about because it would be a spoiler. Mr. Miller and Jake Noble are always a winning combination.
Three for three. This gentlemen writes a great story. My only criticism is that there are not enough of these books. Can't wait for number !.
Three for three, this gentleman can write. The only criticism I can have is that there is not enough of these books. Jake Noble is as a good or better than any of the other main characters in this genre.
I enjoyed all three books in the Jake Noble series; book three was best. I recommended book 1 to a friend, and was half way through book 2 before finding out Miller had served with that friend's brother's friend at one point. It's no wonder he writes so well... Realism!!
Great read. Sad ending. Would like to see Sam return. Great character, as well as Burke. Be not certain to know that it was all worth while. Happy endings are good for the soul. Wish someone could root out the U S polit.icians that are criminals. How about a next book with some upbeat ending. A good retirement for Jake Noble.
This was a great follow-up in the Jake Noble series. Lots of action , several plotlines that all intersect realistically. Kept me up reading late into the night because I kept wanting to see what would happen next. Doesn't end happily ever after, but makes you crave the next book in the series.
Excellent yarn, masterfully written with fun characters and believable relationships. We can only hope that, somehow, our heroines Jacqueline, Sam, Dana and Gwen will all be willing with us in future escapades.
I recommend the series to anyone new to it. With the turn of events the next book should be interesting. Good plot, lots of action and plausible scenarios. I think the Noble series is a good filler and should be read.
Pretty good tale of intrigue with a few short paragraphs of action but well worth the read. Typical hero until the end when nothing really turned out right and he drank into oblivion.
Another great Jake Noble book. The writing really makes you care about Jake and the people he cares about. The action and pace are spot on. Really-really can't wait for the next one.
Terrific thriller which features a deep and real relationship between the boss ( Armstrong ) and Jake together with Gunn both good CIA renegades and lovers to boot. Wonderful read.
Almost don't know where to start. First of all, the reader is so melodramatic he's extremely difficult to listen to. The characters in this book are ill trained, naively emotional and consistently illogical. This will be the last Jake Noble novel I read.
This ebook held my attention after reading the summary. It is well written. I love action stories. The romance was tastefully included. I will definitely read the next ebook in this series.
I am such a fan now of Jake Noble. This character reminds me of Indiana Jones perseverance, James Bond's action, and The Hawk's delivery of vengeance. I can't wait to start the next book. I can see this movie with Jeremy Renner as Jake Noble !!!!
When old friend and CIA agent Samantha Gunn goes rogue in France, Jake Noble is sent there to find out why. Meanwhile, lots of drama and corruption back at CIA headquarters.
Kept me very interested in what happened next. I really like the Jake Noble character
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The story progression was spot on. The anti-heroes got revenge but seem to have paid a high price. I hope the future stories help close the thread left open. On to book 4!
The author knows how to write one exciting thriller. Jake and Sam ride again…..this time fighting the corruption at the CIA. This the third I’ve read in this series and I’m sad about the ending. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this series
