This is a beautiful, honest collection of poems focusing on the author's experiences of womanhood. The honesty with which the poetry approaches topics like what it means to become a woman, the author's deep connection with her mother, the difficult relationship she's had with men in her life, abuse, addiction, and others, is starkly affecting and riveting. The illustrations, like the words, are raw and beautiful. There is so much beauty, pain, loss and growth depicted in this book that the result leaves the reader feeling as though the poet has bared her soul to them. A truly powerful read that I would highly recommend.
