5 tickle your funny bone stars!
The New Twenty is a MUST READ!

Alert!
You WILL LOVE this book!

Tony's writing is so unique and refreshing! Unlike so many other genres that are saturated with competing stories, this one tops the list for genre bending fiction and HUMOUR!

(What do I mean by 'genre bending'? I mean any story that is trail blazing, rising star quality).

As avid readers, don't we all wonder "WHERE the hell do I start with my TBR list for 2020????"

Well - start with this one! It's refreshingly different from anything you'll read on your TBR list if your looking for a story about the bonds between friends, romance, humour, and characters that you can relate to.

His characters are wonderful, and they will keep you laughing with every page you turn.
So strap yourself to that chair so you don't fall off it laughing!! Because you just might.

I know for sure you'll be like....

I can't remember the last time I read something THIS funny and engaging.

The New Twenty is a gem.

And it all started on Wattpad! Go Wattpad writers! THE best forum to share stories and support a writer's dream of becoming a published author.

And, with The New Twenty, Tony did just that. It's a dream realized for an aspiring writer.

I've added it to my favorites list. It was originally at the top of my 2018 reads.
And, now that I'm rereading it, it's at the top of my 2020 list!

I double chocolate fudge cake dare you to take on this amazing read. You won't regret it...

I loved "The New Twenty", a book that has something for skeptics, cynics and romantics alike. Sekulich has a keen eye for characters. In a book that follows a group of fortysomethings as they navigate the romantic waters they last knew as twentysomethings, Sekulich's greatest strength is that he captures everything that was memorable about your 20s (friends as close as family, the giddy rush of attraction, the desire to analyze everything) while still conveying the anxiety and wisdom of your 40s. The character arcs collide masterfully in ways that made me laugh out loud several times, in public. And the book has the courage to earn its ending -- it won't surprise you, but there's a moral center here that leaves you feeling satisfied at the end. Highly recommend.

Hilarious. You can't stop reading.
The 40-year-old identify with the characters and the other generations will love the antics they get. I strongly recommend!

Hilariante. Não se consegue parar de ler.
Os quarentões identificam-se com os personagens e as outras gerações vão adorar as trapalhadas em que eles se metem. Recomendo vivamente!

Writing 'funny' is difficult, but Tony Sekulich makes it look easy. He has a unique voice, captures dialogue masterfully and writes with a lot of heart and humour. Readers will enjoy this fast-paced novel, which is a perfect summer cottage read, and could easily be a Netflix series. Sekulich is a writer to watch.

Finally a Canadian novel that isn't depressing or stagnant. The story moves along with great humour and believability. Do yourself a favour and pick it up.

I have known Tony Sekulich for over thirty years and like most, have never liked him. Which is why it grieves me to say that The New Twenty, a charming and accessible novel by Sekulich, is terrific. My hopes were, when first reading, that Tony had plagiarized the book from some hapless talented student that Tony had maybe buried off Cherry Beach (rumour only!) - but the protagonist, Jeff Dempsey, is so clearly a likeable version of Tony that this actually has to be Sekulich. No one else would think to write a likeable version of Tony.

The supporting characters are recognizable and true. The dialogue honest and funny. Some of the characters, as Tony mentions in his postscript, are clearly real people that he knew well. And yet I'm not in here at all, despite over thirty years of passing acquaintance with Tony. Oh, none taken.

There's a bit of the melancholy here in watching Dempsey cross the easy bridge back toward the twentysomethings, only to find that as a forty year old, he is a passenger on another generations trolley. Dempsey is smart enough to be aware of this, while others are not. Like life.

The cultural references, especially the musical ones (as my virtual hand reaches for Wikipedia to remind myself who Paul Westerberg is) immerse you in a time that that characters are immersed in, and it is not today, and it is never today as we age. Sekulich captures this.

The New Twenty is delightful and funny and sad. I read every entertaining word in a day. It was, of course, gutwrenching to find him talented. But there it is. There's some Hornby here, maybe some Coupland, a soupçon of Romy and Michele. But it's really just Sekulich. A fine effort.

Available on Kindle for around 3 bucks, or you can just order hardcopy if you feel you've got a shot at him stamping it with one of his cloven hoof hands.

If you are someone in their 40s, there is lots to make you laugh in this story. This is a book about friendships.

If you were lucky enough to have a group of friends who helped raise you from your teens to your forties, you will find lots to relate to and love about this book.

If you just love a story with great characters who make you laugh, then this is a great choice.
