A thief in search of his destiny.

A man in search of his son.

The Messiah fated to meet them both.

Demons & Thieves is a fast-paced, riveting tale of demonic powers that bring destruction, of unconditional love that brings restoration, and of man's ultimate choice toward one or the other. In this brilliantly crafted historical novel, master storyteller, Brae Wyckoff, weaves together the account of the two thieves on the cross and the Gerasene demoniacs in an action-packed, epic adventure that progresses across a span of twenty years against the backdrop of ancient Israel.

From the first page, Wyckoff captivates us with vivid characters brought to life as he carefully peels back layer upon layer to reveal raw emotion and the fragility of human existence. Readers will be deeply moved and completely enthralled by the two brothers caught in a cycle of loss and tragedy, the father racing against time to restore relationship, the loyal friend who will not walk away, and the Messiah who encounters each one.

This hauntingly powerful novel will inspire readers to look deeper than what can be seen on the surface and to recognize that behind every person is a story that may surprise us. What influences one's behaviors and decisions? What determines one's destiny? For Nestor and Philos, Dismas and Gestas, the answers await in Demons & Thieves.

If you love a story with a christian perspective, Demons and Thieves by Brae Wyckoff is the story surrounding Jesus of Nazareth from the perspective of two young men. Mr. Wyckoff knows how to weave a compelling story and which includes spirituality. Demons and thieves is a fantastic story and I highly recommend it to all readers. A 5 star read in the opinion of this reader.

Really good read. The characters are compelling and the story draws you in within just a few pages. There are a number of surprises and novel takes on what could have happened. D&T builds and towards the end you kind of walk away with a sense of wondering if it were even possible for the actual historical story of the two thieves to be different from what you read. It's like watching a good movie where you don't see the actors but just the characters. I'd recommend it.

This book was so good I read it twice before stopping to review it! This book is a Christian fiction book but it doesn't feel like fiction at all. It tells the story of the road to the cross from another perspective. We travel with the characters as if they are old friends, brothers even, until they meet their fate to the left and right of Jesus on the cross. I never though of these two people other than in passing when learning it in Sunday school. This book opened my eyes to the fact that these men were more than just a story! The story telling is told by many different points of view and i love how much I could relate to ALL of the characters instead of just one or two. The book kept me interested from the first sentence until the very last word. My only regret was that I read it so quickly. I have read the Horn King series by Mr. Wyckoff as well and I can say that his writing never disappoints. Thank you for such a wonderful story! I can't wait to go on another adventure with you!

Demons & Thieves by Brae Wyckoff is an amazing read. It is Christian fiction at its very finest, or is it? This book reads like the very best of diaries. Told in alternating POVs, it gives a deeper understanding of alternate possibilities behind true historical events. There is not a wasted paragraph, sentence, or even word in this entire retelling of the times of Jesus. Although not mostly connected directly to Jesus, these stories run adjacent to each other and come together in the middle. Without any spoilers, the most I can say is that All things come together in Christ, as did this adventure.
Basically, what's not to love here? I loved the characters (yes, all of them) and the stories of adventure and salvation. I am a big fan of Wyckoff, but Demons and Thieves is different, bigger, than anything he has written. I pray that it is well received because the message is so very important.

I will attempt to give a fair review, seeing as I personally know the author through the writing group we attend.

Demons and Thieves is a riveting fictional story that occurs during the age of the Roman Empire at the time of Jesus of Nazareth. The author did a great job of capturing historical settings and cultures that brought to life very accurate scenes as the story played out. The interactions of the characters felt authentic, not forced or used as filler just to move to the next scene. Each character and their role(s) were weaved together in such a way that the story drew me in and made me want to read more.

The book definitely has a heavy spiritual/paranormal theme that runs through it, but it was written in such a way that it wasn’t overly dark or gruesome. For me it was fascinating and only added to the climax of the book’s ending chapters. With that said, the pacing of the book kept my attention and had little to no grammar errors at all. This was a great book and I can’t wait to read its sequel.

This is the kind of book you read at least twice. The first time you race through it to find out what happens. The next time to catch all the stuff you missed from the first frantic reading, as the book sucks you in immediately, and any time after that for a beautifully written story of hope, fate, love, and redemption. I have no doubt I will pull this story off my bookshelves again in the years to come. Thanks for the great read!

Brae brought to life two characters from the Bible that I had never really given much thought to. Not only did he bring them to life, but I also related to them. In reading this book, I was taken on a roller-coaster ride of emotions ... landing me in a place of satisfaction but, wanting to do it again! I look forward to more stories by Brae.
