Rain Storm is every man’s wildest dream. A fantasy. When people look at her, they see what she wants them to see. They see the illusion.

The reality is much different. What lies below the buffed and glossed exterior is the bartender who teeters in four-inch heels, tapping kegs, pouring shots, and flirting for bigger tips; the scared fifteen-year-old who lost the most important man in her life; the girl whose mother checked out when she needed her most; the teenager who partied hard, ended up pregnant, and dropped out of school; the single mother who works multiple jobs to support herself and her daughter.

Even her boyfriend sees her as an accessory—something pretty to keep on a shelf until he wants to take her down and show her off.

But then Chase Holgate walks into Blondie’s, and from the first time he looks into Rain’s eyes, she knows he can see her. Not just the beautiful exterior but her pain, her vulnerability, and her strength.

With just one look, Chase knows Rain is the one who could take his shredded heart and sew it back together.

Now, all he has to do is convince her.

Miss February is the first book in the Calendar Girl duet.

The story starts off a bit differently than a lot of romance stories because in the beginning we get to read about Rain being with another guy who is not the Hero...for the first 30%. I had a hard time with that but I figured I just had to roll with it because there has to be a reason.

And that guy's name is Preston. He's a rich jerk who treats Rain horribly but he knows exactly how to string her along.

Don't worry, we do get to meet Chase...a few times actually and I was thrilled when he was more in the picture even if what he went through was sad. Chase remembers Rain and wants to be with her, he just has to wait out the jerk.

Finally, they get together and it's everything wonderful...well, sort of, it's complicated. Rain is a single mom and works at her Mom's luncheonette during the day and a few nights at a bar where she plays up her assets. Can't blame a woman for trying to make more money to take care of her child.

description

There's also a little issue of Chase's sister-in-law having a bad past with Rain and said sister-in-law having Chase's Mom in her back pocket for the most part.

Chase is put in a bad position. He loves how Rain looks and what she wears and is proud of her but he also hates how other men look at her and what she puts up with. And he's really not happy when he sees her picture in the calendar she did for charity.

That alone is enough to put up with but when Rain has to deal with Chase's Mom, that's a whole other level of despicableness. I tell you she's right up there vying for the title of worse mother-in-law ever.

Thankfully, we get a lot of sweetness from Rain's daughter, Izzy, even if she latches onto Chase a little too strongly. I still loved their relationship and what he said to her was definitely swoon worthy!

Because this is a duet, the story ends leaving things unsettled. Thankfully, Karen Cimms left us with an excerpt for the next book, Mrs. February (unknown release date). Unfortunately, it left me with even more questions but I cannot wait for it to come out!

This book is a duet, so you know you are left without everything being resolved. It left you thinking - what? I hope he is going to...but doesn't....

The h is this book will make you want to pull your hair out - shout at your Kindle - she does not make wise choices at the beginning. As the reader you know the bloke is a dirtbag and should just be shown the door but she keeps on believing.....urggghhh!

Then enters Chase - everyone needs a guy like him (minus his mother - she is just plain delusional!) The way he is with Izzy is great - sigh. Him and Rain together work - even if he goes a bit caveman in places - his heart is in the right place.

Like I said there are questions at the end - I really need the next book and hope the author will give us a nice HEA with a great epilogue. I trust in this author as I loved her Of Love and Madness series (even though she put us through the wringer with those books!)

Bad news: This ends in a cliffhanger.
Good news: The other book is already out in KU.

Review:

The writing was quick and with minimal stupid angst, and I found the secondary female characters reactions to the bombshell heroine pretty believable and very sad. The two main characters were fun to read and had an instant connection. The heroine makes some stupid choices, but they are the kind of stupid choices that people make in real life rather than ridiculous ones that characters make in fiction if that makes sense.

Writing reviews without spoilers is hard but what’s the point in reading if you already know what’s going to happen? So mine won’t contain any because you want to read Miss February which is book 1 in the Calendar Girl duet. It’s a really sweet romance. Chase Holgate is all kinds of wonderful. He’s sweet, caring, sexy, hardworking, and genuine. He’s a really good guy. Rain Storm is a good girl with a bad reputation that she doesn’t deserve. She’s a hardworking, smart and sensible single mom that hides behind her beauty. From their first encounter there is an attraction, a chemical reaction to one another. There’s a maturity in their conversations that make them relatable. Unfortunately, not everyone wants to see them together. Your heart breaks at the cruelty and gets angry at the indefensible. At times you want to reach in and shake some sense into Rain or give Chase a hug because he’s hurting from the actions of his family. And, of course, there’s trouble lingering in the background. You know it’s coming, you can feel it, but you really hope it’s not going to be that bad. So they’ll have to fight hard for that HEA and I can’t wait to read about it in Mrs. February which comes out Spring 2018.

Wow

This was one of those stories that you wonder what's it really about but Rain has been through some ups and downs but not quite getting through to her own feelings. She's a strong person when it comes to certain things but not when it comes to the men in her life even when It's right in front of her. I can't wait to see how this continues in the next book.

Spoiler-
Note to self: In book 2, they split up (over a dumb misunderstanding) and he fucks and dates the heroine nemesis and even gets engaged to her.
The h remains celibate.
Dumb duet. Avoid.

Well, isn't that a fine kettle of fish!! What an ending. And I desperately loved Chase right up until that very moment, and now I want to wring his damn neck!!! I don't want to spoiler things and ruin the story for everyone, so I'll refrain from ranting about it!

It took me a long while to warm to Rain. Her back and forth with Preston, even when she knew he was playing her, drove me batty. (Ooops, I guess I'm ranting again!!) I tried to be sympathetic, because who among us hasn't done stupid things in an attempt to get the love we think we want or need? But, I just couldn't take my Judgy McJudgement Pants off when it came to her and Preston. And so much of the angst (both personal and between Rain and Chase) could have been resolved if they had just come clean with each other. There were so many times where they were very open , and I loved those moments. Then there were the times when they should have said something, but just didn't - creating unneeded stress.

And did I mention I absolutely hated the cliffhanger? I kept swiping left to see if there were more pages, but I guess I'm going to have to go on to Book 2 - once I can forgive Chase.

Rain Storm works at her mom’s luncheonette during the day and at night she bartends at Blondie’s. She is a single mom to Isolde (Izzy) and works hard at providing for her.
Rain is in a relationship with Preston Jamison and she discovers he is also dating Suzanne, a girl he has grown up with whom his parents want him to marry. Yet Preston tells Rain she is the one he wants to be with.
Chase Holgate has just ended his relationship with Jennifer after he discovers her cheating on him. He is attracted to Rain the moment he meets her but knows she is in an on-again off-again relationship with Preston. Will he be able to convince her to give him a chance?
Will Rain be able to figure out what is best for her and will she be able to get over people’s opinion of her and the “wrong side of the tracks” that she grew up on?
This is a great book with lots of twists and turns that make your heart break and makes you want to throttle Rain at times!
I liked Rain but I was so mad at her so many times for taking Preston back when it was obvious he was continually back and forth between her and Suzanne. I understood that Rain was in love with Preston but I was still so upset that he could manipulate her feelings the way he did.
I liked Chase but he had his own ghosts in his past with his ex-girlfriend Jennifer who cheated on him. It was interesting that Rain was the other woman in Preston’s relationship, but Chase still wanted her. Chase was very protective over Rain and I really liked his relationship with Izzy.
I was so mad at how both Preston and Chase’s families viewed Rain and never gave her a chance to get to know her before judging her. I understood her reluctance to move further in her relationships with the men because of that.
The twist near the end was somewhat scary and I am curious to see what is revealed in the next book. I loved what Rain did at the end when she realized what she wanted.
The end left me shattered and I am nervous to see what is going to happen in the next book!

So, I am rating this book as a duet, because
you have to read this whole entire mess, in
order to give it an honest review. I will start
with the good......It had vast potential. So we
meet Rain, she is a young single mother, who
is in love, but not with our hero, with Preston.
Preston from the beginning is leading Rain on,
and she is his doormat. Then we meet Chase,
our supposed hero, who is in a relationship with
his fiancee. After tons of drama, Rain dumps
the newly single Preston for Chase. And guess
what! She is pregnant and doesn't know who
the father of her baby is. So Rain, being the
most beautiful and desirable woman on earth,
falls madly in love with Chase. Chase is extremely
possessive and border-line crazy for Rain. He
breaks up with Rain, after Chase professes
that she is the love of his life, over a misunder-
standing. Then what does our hero do? Well
he starts sleeping with Rain's life long nemesis,
and gets engaged to her. All the while
Rain is celibate and pining for Chase. I
don't think I have ever hated a man more
than I do Chase. He is an infant. His petty
jealousies made me loathe him, and why
does he get to sleep around, get engaged, and
then just get forgiven. Please. This book
also had problems with its time line. The kids
were small and before you know it they are
preteen. I solely read the second part of this
duet so I could laugh and see how they ended
up together. I wish Rain would have divorced
Chase and he lived a miserable life or maybe
even, die a slow, painful, horrible death. The
1 star is for the ending of the book and how
she pulled it all together, although that
was corny and unbelievable too.

This was my first experience with this author and will not be my last. When I read the blurb for Miss February I knew I would get some enjoyment out of reading it. I did not expect to start the book and finish within hours but I was swept away and could not put it down. I may not have much in common with Rain on the outside but on the inside I have the same brokenness. Her story was one I needed to have a conclusion to but alas.... I am desperately awaiting the next book in this duet to see if she can be repaired. Ms. Cimms, you can now expect me to be super stalking you for a release date, even though this book was just released itself. Please don’t make me wait long!

This book is told in Rain and Chase's alternating POV. Rain is a single mom that has struggled on her own but welcomes some attention when Preston gives it to her. Preston is one that just gets under your skin and makes you want to yell. When Rain finally has enough she meets Chase who has recently had a rocky relationship but they are good together. Until they're not. The ending completely broke my heart and I cannot wait to see what happens next.

I really enjoyed the characters in this story. The feels this one brought out, one or two drunk choices in high school and I could be her, though not as beautiful! Rain is a young single Mom that works 2 jobs to make ends meet. Preston is her on again off again boyfriend and then she meets Chase. This is a story that will make you laugh, cry, laugh harder, yell at the characters and get funny looks from others when you do that. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next one! Really Karen, I mean it, get writing!!!

Miss February is book one in a duet - so I knew before going in that I likely would be left in anticipation of the rest of the story and Karen Cimms did just that.

I feel like I should start this review out by saying that it took a while for Rain to grow on me, she's a woman who's made mistakes - lots of them, she makes excuses and allows herself to be taken advantage of but when it comes down to it - it's all because of her warped sense of self-worth. She's got a lot of baggage and allows it to shade her perspective in many ways - but most importantly it allows her to see herself as less deserving which is a big thing to overcome.

Now you might think that this book is a love triangle - but it's not at all what you'd expect. I'm not going to spoil any of the details for you and ruin it - but I'll say this - while there are two men in this story that Rain has been involved with - there is no competition (at least for me!) - there is a clear winner here but the journey with both is important to Rain's growth.

Preston and Chase offer different things to Rain and her life. There's a lot between the three of them and though at times I found myself wanting to rage at something that was done - I also found myself wishing for good things as well. This book will toy with your emotions, but not in an expected way - it will pull you right into the middle of everything and leave you feeling all the things. You'll find yourself sucked in and needing to see how everything comes out.

I can't wait to dive into Mrs. February and see what's what and what it all means for Rain, Chase and even Preston.

I was fortunate to receive an ARC for an honest review. And it is difficult to write a spoiler free one.

Young characters are not usually to my liking. Being a middle aged woman makes me want to read about characters in my age range. But sometimes, a great writer comes around and manages to engage me and pull me so deep in the story that is sad when it´s finished. This is the story of a young girl, in her early twenties, that has not made very wise choices. She is still a little immature an annoying. But she has a big heart and is desperate to love and feel loved. Her character is so relatable and real, that I am sure at some point we truly, in one way or another, can relate perfectly to her actions and/or her feelings, thus understanding why she made some of those choices. Choices that will lead her to a HEA...or not. The other characters in this book, P and C, are so well written that you'll likely will want to murder one and marry the other! I am anxiously waiting for the next book because I really enjoyed this one. Read it in one sitting, as with all of Karen´s books.

I was so excited to read Karen Cimms new novel “ Miss February “ and it did not disappoint. Karen’s ability to create characters that you become so involved with is incredible. I fell in love with Chase from the get go and loved Rain but found myself wanting to shake some sense into her many times! Karen.... waiting anxiously for book two!

I have loved every single one of Karen Cimms' books and this one is no exception.

Rain was such an interesting character. I couldn't figure Preston out and whether or not I was rooting for him or hoping she'd kick him to the curb. I loved Chase from the start but I think it would have been better to get a few more details on his back story.

Looking forward to book 2.

ARC Review
As the title states, that FUCKING ending though. I was so not expected that, like it literally surprised the hell out of me. It left me speechless and craving for part two. With that being said,  Karen Cimms is a new author I was introduced to. Her book Miss February was very good. I enjoyed the sweet romance component which I've never really done (one other book in my memory was sweet romance but that's it) and I'm happy to know that I will be reading more books from this author

When I first started this book, arragghh I wanted to slap the shit out of Rain. Her whole relationship with Preston was killing me, you could totally tell the man was an asshole; just stringing her along while slowly killing her self-esteem like countless other men in this world (there will be no man-bashing lol just Preston-bashing-he fucking deserves that and more).

For me, Chase was a round of applause. When he showed up and began to show Rain what love really is. I was like: "YASSS!!!!!! Chase she needs you, BIG TIME!"Chase and Rain were both hurt in their past relationships and although most thought they were rushing into a relationship, myself included, they prove us wrong and starting making a beautiful life together. However,  as we all know life is not all roses without some thorn pricks. The first prick bleeds and keeps bleeding until you cover it up. Wanna guess who the prick is that caused this bleeding? Read the book and I'm sure you can guess. Their relationship had a lot of naysayers. Which one just blew Rain & Chase's world apart?

In conclusion, I absolutely recommend you one-clicking this awesome story and start reading ASAP when you need the break, just be careful because if you are anything like me, you won't stop reading until you finish. There is just one more thing, I would like to leave you with. This book teaches about love and finding that special love that loves you, rather than harm you. That builds you up emotionally, never tearing you down. What I am trying to say is.  Love is special and YOU deserve it, no matter what others may say or do. You deserve LOVE, In fact,  We all do :) <3.  #LOVEROCKS

"This story is had me feeling all kinds of emotions. I love Rain and her daughter Izzy. Rain is independent, beautiful, strong, and sometimes very frustrating. I wanted to reach in and shake sense into her many times. Earth to Rain!! What are you doing?! I kept reading because I knew it could get better for her and it did. She starts out with her sometimes boyfriend, which she thinks she's ok with because she's a single mother with two jobs so who has time for a real relationship? However, the heart had different ideas and so did he.

Chase, this guy, he definitely is a good guy with a little caveman in him. He meets Rain when he's engaged, but Rain senses something in him. Fast forward a little bit and things with he who shall not be named go south and Chase picks up the pieces left behind. He's so perfect with Izzy, but Rain is hesitant to get serious with him. She has her reasons and some are good and some make you want to reach in and smack some sense into her. Chase's mother could be psychotic and his brother has been brain-washed by his wife who also happens to despise Rain. Rain doesn't want to come in between Chase and his family. For me, I say who effin cares. They're rude and downright evil. I guess a little personal experience speaks here, but I know what I'm talking about. lol

We go into Miss February knowing it's a duet so it ends on a big cliffhanger. I don't know if Chase is leaving to go deal with he who shall not be named or just leaving. I'm hoping it's not the latter. We shall see come Spring! I highly recommend this book. You'll fall in love with the characters and their crazy, yet sweet love story."

I am a HUGE fan of Karen Cimms' Of Love And Madness Series, with that being said, not sure why it took me so long to read this duet.
While this storyline could be considered a cliche, misunderstood beauty and single mom with an unwarranted bad reputation put forth by the high school mean girls, lasting into adulthood, in Ms Cimms hands it turns into a relationship story and that is what sets the book apart. This Author is very good at pulling emotions both out of her characters and her readers alike.
Digging deep into the story is the relevance, especially in today's national climate, where unfortunately women aren't taken seriously if they happen to be drop dead gorgeous or dress a certain way or make choices on how to make a living that are frowned upon by so called "god" fearing people, they are immediately branded easy or a slut, but attached males are just "having fun" with their lewd comments and inappropriate touching. Double standards are alive and well.
I don't believe this was Ms Cimms intent, but it is my view on the premise and mine alone.
Fascinating to me is the way each of Rain's love interests treat her and reactions to it are the real crux on this book. More on this in my review of Mrs February

This was an engaging story until I wanted to slap Rain to get rid of douche Preston already. It was crystal clear that guy was stringing her along. I was curious what has happened to Chase, even though when they met earlier, he was engaged to be married to another lady. They met again briefly, and the other lady was still around. Third time they met, he was free. So, what was the delay in getting together? D-bag Preston of course. It was much later in the book that Chase and Rain got together. Much to my chagrin. Then there was a surprise (good one). Chase had one more thing to do though, to secure his family. Can’t wait to see how that turned out.

Karen Cimms won me over with her ‘Of Love and Madness’ series. I haven’t got over reading that series. One of the best rock star books out there. This series (The Calender Girl Duet), might get me out of my book funk yet. Good read.

Well I'm so glad I held off reading Miss February until Mrs February released. I'm a huge fan of Karen's Of Love and Madness series and know how terribly impatient I am waiting for the next instalment in the series. Wise move on my part because the minute I read the last word of Miss February, I immediately dove headfirst into Mrs February.

Miss February starts a little differently to most of the romance novels I usually read. When we first meet Rain Storm, she's dating a guy, Preston, who is not entirely honourable or likeable. We also meet Chase Holgate, who is every kind of wonderful.

It's hard to write a review without giving away spoilers, and because I think you should all torture yourself like I had to not knowing where the story would go next, I'm going to leave this review spoiler free!

I enthusiastically recommend reading this series by Karen Cimms.

I love this story. It had everything I love in a book! A terrific love story with so much melty moments, laugh out loud moments, and conflict with different characters. The writing flows so smoothly, it make for a fast read. Rain is just an ordinary girl, who happens to be drop dead gorgeous, wanting the same things we all do. Chase is one hot hunk of man! The triangle is not the usual one, which is a refreshing change. I can't wait for Mrs. February! I highly recommend this book!

At first I wasn't for sure about Miss February I've read other books by Karen Cimms so I took a chance. I'm so glad I did Rain Storm man you gotta love her and her daughter Izzy . The story blended so well together and made you feel so connected to Rain. Be aware this is a duet so be expecting more from Rain I can't wait to read the conclusion of what's going to happen to this tough girl.
