Shadows Rising

Rate this book
International art sleuth Adriana Villa is on the move again. But this time, she’s not tracking down priceless stolen paintings or sculptures. This time, Adriana is chasing terrorists. Recruited by her friend June, Adriana has joined Shadow Cell, a covert agency that hunts the world’s most dangerous mass murderers, striking them where they live, where they kill—where they hide. But as her team moves in on a weapons-smuggling cell in Istanbul, Adriana’s cover is blown. Turns out members of the Red Ring, the most secretive, most lethal terrorists in the world have been watching her, too. To save the lives of the innocent thousands targeted by the terrorists’ weapons of death, Adriana and June race across Southern Europe as their intel leads them up the chain of command and deeper into the heart of the shadowy power behind the Red Ring. Fresh off the runaway success of his wildly popular Sean Wyatt thriller series, USA TODAY best-selling author Ernest Dempsey again electrifies readers with his newest edge-of-your-seat shocker. Adriana Villa is a ruthless modern-day hero in a deadly modern-day fight for freedom, and she’ll have to fight nearly as dirty as the enemy to save all our lives

I received a free advance copy from the author, for my honest review and I bought a copy also from amazon.com. Something I like to do, to support several of the author's that I read advance copies for.

Another great read from Ernest Dempsey, like that it was another Adriana Vila story, really like this character a lot and also like that it was a shorter read, than his Sean Wyatt books. Be nice to see that series also have shorter novels.

You can't help, but like both Adriana and June, even if at times they seem to be, 10 feet tall and bullet proof, just seem to be invincible, deadly even, and unstoppable no matter what trouble they get into or find themselves in.

Basically Red Ring is ISIS really, it's predictable at times or formula at times, but it's still good reading from Ernest Dempsey, worth it to read and like that he puts you the reader in the pages.

Shadows Rising - a review by Rosemary Kenny

Shadows Rising is Ernest Dempsey's second novel in the A Shadow Cell Thriller series and it doesn't disappoint in the slightest - it's even more exciting than the first! MC Adriana Villa has joined Shadow Cell, a covert crime-fighting agency formed by the US President to bring the world's worst mass-murderers to justice.
This time her adversaries are based in Istanbul but not limited to that country or indeed continent. The so-called Red Ring's leader Abdi is eventually exposed and captured in Europe - but he's not the mastermind behind the terrorist attacks.

Working with her partners in the IAA Adriana must thwart plans to explode deadly weapons of mass destruction simultaneously on every continent in the Western world, while leading the major powers to believe they've been betrayed by their own agents and targeted by each other!
Can the team succeed? Will Adriana survive her latest deadly mission?
Only way to find out is to buy yourself a copy today - you'll be so glad you did!

This second Shadow Cell book is a real delight. The character of Adrianna Villa has evolved from an international art thief into an agent in a secret organisation tasked with eradicating terrorist threats, and she is brilliant in the role. A caveat here, if you aren't prepared to slightly suspend disbelief, you won't get the best out of these books, but that's nothing new, think of James Bond, fighting off several baddies and emerging without a scratch or a hair out of place, and you'll get the idea!
The plot is certainly original, very clever and very exciting... and I'm not going to say any more as I hate spoilers.
This book was great fun to read, my only complaint is that it was too short, the story deserves more detail.
I received an ARC of the book, but have no other affiliation with the author and this voluntarily written review is based on my own honest opinion.

I received a free e-copy of this book and have chosen to write an honest and unbiased review. I have no personal affiliation with the author. Another great book in the Shadow Cell series. Wow! Adriana and June sure know how to kick ass. We see how hard and cold Adriana can really be when the need presents itself. ‘Shadows Rising’ is full of action, suspense, and twists and turns. Couldn’t put it down. Ernest Dempsey is a true storyteller. The ending left me wondering if the terrorists will continue on with their plans after this recent setback. This is a great book and well worth the read. I look forward to reading more from Ernest Dempsey in the future.

Adriana Villa is back and proves what a badass she can be as she and June work to take down a terrorist organization. While I have liked the earlier books that focused on Adriana, Shadows Rising introduces a side to Adriana that hasn’t been presented as overtly until now. If you enjoy Earnest Dempsey’s books, then Shadows Rising is a must read, as usual it is filled with action and intrigue wrapped up in a spellbinding story.
I received an Advance Review Copy of this book and chose to provide a review.

Adriana has joined Shadow Cell, with the hunt for mass murderers, Istanbul was the Target, and where her cover was blown. Now with June they are chasing after Ring Wing. Tosu wanted revenge against those two women,
he was the most powerful in the Red Wing. Tosu and his men were no match for the skills of these two women and their men. They still have to find who the Leader is of Red Wing. A plot that includes a chase, being ambushed, captured and barely getting out alive. It’s fast paced, and full of action.

Now that Adriana has gone to work with June, they have to keep it a secret from everyone. Their agency is looking for terrorists and finding them. Adriana and June get into some really tight spots that make you wonder how they're going to get out, much less win. The plot and writing are excellent and the action is fantastic. I highly recommend Shadows Rising. The author, Ernest Dempsey, just keeps getting better with each book he writes.

3.5 Stars Character Growing Pains

The roles of the 2 main characters we came to love as Adrianna + June were previously defined in the Sean Wyatt series. I thought bk#1 in this series worked well. Adrianna is a free spirit and usually goes solo, even with Sean Wyatt. I found it strange that she, and even June, would have walked into an ambush that easily, getting their backup personnel killed.

I’ve really enjoyed these shorter stories with Adriana Villa and June, it’s great to have them together in there own series, Shadows Rising is the second book in the Shadow Cell series and a truly great read, I would recommend.
Side note: I got an advanced copy of this book for a honest review if I wished to leave one, This is my Honest review, although short and sweet.

An action packed thriller which kept me turning the pages (tapping my Kindle) until late into the night. Adrianna and June are teamed up in this story to help fight terrorists. These two are kick a** together and the action starts almost at page one and continues throughout the book.

This author gets better and better with each book he writes. Keep up the good work, Mr. Dempsey!

I received an early copy of this book so that I could provide an honest and impartial review.
The Adriana books are a bit more intense than her boyfriend Sean's series.
I enjoy seeing what Adriana and June are doing when they're away from Sean and Tommy.
I'm sure they will get the bad guys in the next installment.

Adrianna and June go all out in this story as prisoners of one of the high ranking henchmen. That is, of course, after Adrianna went through a couple of lower level henchmen. Never a dull moment. The determination moving Adrianna forward is kind of scary because you think any moment she won't be able to save herself. Great job. Thank you.

Powerful heroine

Continuing action surrounds Adrianne as she and fellow agent June work to dismantle a world threatening terrorist organization. If you are a fan of strong female characters who can kick butt with or without a man by her side you will love this book.

Same old, same old.

Tired of reading about all the "guys" and "pumping legs." Elementary non-thinking reading while waiting for a bus. Only learned that an AK-47 is an extremely lethal weapon.

Absolutely spell-binding. Had to read both asap!

Having read all Sean Wyatt, I just knew Adrianna's adventures would be just as thrilling. Waiting for book three as well as the next Sean Wyatt!!

Engrossing, but not as much fun as Sean Wyatt and Co.

This was fast moving, and pairing Adriana with June is clever, at least keeping familiar people involved. But I desperately miss the whole Sean & Tommy crew.
