Shani did it again. I knew from the second that I started reading this, I would love it. It gave me the Conjuring feels with the last film that I watched, which is set in a house but has to do with a mirror. Obviously, this isn't a house and a mirror, but it’s definitely a troublesome house.
I love that she tackled problems with media and the press, and that you still feel that Ruby is carrying on remnants from Rise to Me. I still feel like she has an attachment. So I loved it when I was finally dressed at the end, and then you have Elisha Grey now. I just knew the second we met her, she was going to play a part in this book, and her story was bigger than I thought. And I loved that I was proven right. She had a role. She was linked, and not always in ways that you thought she would be linked. I love the idea of regression as it is. So it was quite interesting to see Ruby as she was there at Elisha’s regression. It's something my mum and I have always spoken about, and we're quite fascinated by it. See if we had a past life. And what opened up with this book was so much more.
Ruby had it hard this time, but they all did, and it was just quite sad to see riffs beginning to form within the group, because that's not what you want. This is a group of friends. This is a group of people who just want to help other people, and this rift was not something I wanted to see or experience. So that was quite hard. Throughout the book, we felt like everyone wasn't working together. The Haunting was intense. You never quite knew what that spirit was going to be like in Gilmore Street. He wasn't pleasant, shall we say.
But all it takes is one or two people to stand by you, to give you strength, and that's what prevails in the end, strength and love and forgiveness. I loved how all the stories are linked. I love the back story. Not sure I would be as forgiving as some characters, but I've thoroughly enjoyed this.
And as much as I want to rush through the series, I want to take a break because I don't want to finish it too quickly. So I shall be better for book four very soon, you.
