Prvni polovina (puvodni terti TPB Last Goodby) se fakt povedla.

Fear Agent : Final Edition Vol. 2 is the second omnibus of the Image comics series created by author Rick Remender (Deadly Class, Black Science), Tony Moore (co-creator of The Walking Dead) and Jerome Opeña, with help from Kieron Dwyer.

It includes the third and fourth story arcs :
The Last Goodbye parts 1 to 4
Hatchet Job parts 1 to 5

Review of Vol. 1 : https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

At the end of vol.1, we discovered a case of despicable treason, putting our hero, and earth, in an even worse predicament than previously assumed. This isn’t where the second omnibus picks up.

Instead, after getting a glimpse of Heath’s past at the end of vol. 1, we get much more of it this time around : From the birth of the Fear Agents to his separation from his wife, with Heath becoming the man we know Inbetween. The Last Goodbye is mainly the story that led to Heath leaving Earth behind. The fun is temporarily suspended, as we witness apocalypse and the devastation of our planet, caught in the middle of two warring alien races, through the eyes of resisting Texans. No laughing matter, for sure.

Hatchet Job presents the unfolding of the new Fear Agents’ plan to eliminate the parasitic infestation of Earth. The fun fast paced action is back with a vengeance, with more wacky aliens, strange civilizations, and space pirates ! But, seriousness is slowly crawling its way inside the story, which is getting more substance, more depth, and character development. We also get compelling explanations for earlier acts of betrayal, leading to new shenanigans.

Those knowledgeable about Rick Remender’s more recent works might get an idea of where this comic is going.

Tony Moore is equal to himself in excellence. The color palette adequately changes from world to world, and time period to time period. The alien designs are, pun intended, out of this world. Those are high production values.

As a bonus, this second omnibus offers clean covert art for each issue, pinups, and inked pages in the backpages.

Loved this one, the first half told us the story of the fear agents and gave us some needed back story that I thoroughly enjoyed. The second half was a mission of humanities last hood and had me engaged all the way to the end!

One story which acts as the prequel. We see what made Heath leave earth and his friends etc. The second was more a space alien different world type story. This is where I feel Remender shines with Fear agent. Great story so far

I wasn’t sure if it was 4 or 5 Star so I rounded up. Great book. Classic reminder story. I’m not an expert in the subject but for me it’s the epitome of pulp scifi. I think there’s one more volume in the final edition and I’ll definitely be reading it. 5 stars.

This is review of Final Edition Volume 2.

Having read Volume 1 which covered #1-4, I find that this volume covers later issues, meaning I missed a few in between. This volume has two arcs, the first being a flashback to how Heath became a Fear Agent with lots of background information and explanation. The second arc, Hatchet Job, has the team divided, one half searching for a inhabitable planet, the others gathering food. All of them get into all sorts of trouble: some die, others fight on.

There’s a lot going on and it moves along at quite a pace, including flashbacks in the second arc, involving Mara. The artwork is clear, detailed and enjoyable in the second arc, less so in the first. Better than Volume 1.

(Zero spoiler review) 4/5.
Read my previous review of volume 1 for greater context, although the book started out pretty strong. I've previously mentioned that I enjoy when Remender gets wordy, gets lost in the lore. Gets his characters conversing with one another. When its just the usual superhero style fisticuffs, my mind starts to wander pretty sharp like. The cliffhanger of sorts the last volume ended on was a great close to that book, so I was eagerly awaiting the resolution, and to find out what happens. Remender can pull at your emotions when he wants to, although the choices he made as to character motivations regarding this reveal wasn't quite to my liking. Emotions just seemed to be a bit too fluid for my liking, so it didn't invest me as much as I would have liked. The remainder of the story throughout was good, to great at times. Whenever the book leant on its emotional crutch, and had Huston down and out and defeated, lamenting his actions and their results, I was as gripped and eagerly reading on. Whenever it verged into the slightly trite and formulaic, I kinda drifted a bit. A bit of a rollercoaster story wise, then. But for the most part, pretty damn decent.
I think the art remains the high point for this series, which is something I'm never quite so comfortable in saying. I'm not the kind of guy that can stare at the pretty pictures if the story is a bucket of ass. Now Fear Agent is far from that lowly assessment, but if the writing was as consistently strong as Opena and Moore's pencils, not to mention the excellent colouration, then we would be looking at top marks. Rather than read straight through, I decided to take a break at this halfway juncture in the story. Needing to read something else before returning to finish the series off. Maybe that's a pretty strong indication of where I am at with this series. I know I've given it a four, and in actuality, most would give it a four any day of the week. But for me, its the loosest possible four I can give. Hopefully volume 3 is the masterpiece. 4/5

Earth will never be the same!

The calamity that seems to impact Heath's life constantly is heart breaking. He's gone through a lot and keeps on living. It's both inspiring, exhausting, unfair. He takes a lot of beatings. He's lives through a lot of shit. He's done some really terrible things (that truck scene in this and what we learn after will stick with me).

For a pulp action scifi comic that definitely feels very B movie, max, this has so much heart. Wow. There's a tremendous amount of suffering on display here. But also a lot of heart. Characters feel. There may be a lot of pain and anger but there's a lot of care and love underneath. The world just happens to be a dark and cold and uncaring place.

There's a little bit of confusion with all the factions and what's going on and why does Earth matter and all that. Admittedly, most of it is probably on purpose that ties and explains in later issues but the multitude of threads and scenes with other folks made it difficult for me to follow exactly - who and when and where and why.

You seldom get a Book Two in a series that is self-contained, and I don't think this one is, either – for all the first major chunk of story being a flashback to how the alien invasion of Earth caused our lone hero to lose his wife, and all the drama that that entails, you don't really get to care for any of the people portrayed. The second arc is right back onto the tails of the first – dodgy, violent alien critters to be bested, downright evil humans to be sorted out, and a massive sense of it all being written on the go, with no sense of it being carefully planned out or structured beforehand. That gung-ho approach to the narrative is in keeping with the characters and milieu, but it doesn't make for a book I was keen to keep on with.

A Smidgen Better than Volume 1
OVERALL RATING: 4.75 stars
Art: 4.75 stars
Prose: 4.75 stars
Plot: 4.75 stars
Pacing: 4.75 stars
Character Development: 5 stars
World Building: 5 stars

The second subplot really carries the first, making this installment better than the previous by a whisker. Really strong writing filling out Huston's history and then propelling the story forward marvelously. This series is a must read for any fan of this medium!

Meh. Entertaining enough but again, fairly boring characters and a protagonist that’s been done a thousand times. The art and action don’t match the somewhat more serious tone of this volume. Everything about this book feels like it wants to be goofy except for the writing. Weird combo. If you’re curious it’s not a bad investment, just wasn’t what I was hoping for based on all the praise I’ve heard.

The adventure continues. This is where we get the backstory. And it also grounds un in what time we're talking about (the early 2000's). The story keeps getting deeper. The secrets many of the characters have kept come to light. And the fight gets more desperate. Gotta keep going into the next volume. This one has gotten me thoroughly hooked.

Slightly better than volume 1, but I do wish the standard of all of the issues were as good as the last one in this volume (21).

It has the inconsistency that Black Science had, although nowhere near the highs of it.
It’s obvious this is still early on in Remender’s career, before he really confidently find his voice

I don't really give two $#!%s about a guy battling aliens to save Earth.
But give me allusions to Vietnam; and a person suffering with catastrophic loss, coping with their rotten conscience, trying to stay accountable and to do the right thing, all through a hopeless crippling drinking problem - and Mark Twain - well thank you very much.
Rich storytelling and art.
Great nuggets of philosophy sprinkled throughout.
Like jazz, the best parts are happening between the action and sci-fi.
Oh yes, and the character building is something special.
