I actually just finished this book. Normally I like to digest it, and then give my thoughts, but this book was AMAZING!! Kaylie Newell knocked it out of the park with Falling In Danger, and with 40% of the proceeds going to The Pixie Project (which Kaylie will talk about tomorrow when she comes by A Tasty Read to chat, so come back), you have no reason NOT to buy this book!!

My only warning to dog lovers, is that some of the scenes are sad and the discussion of true events are even sadder. I teared up a few times and you will too, especially when you meet "Bruta". LOVED HIM!! Speaking of LOVED.....Detective Ian Cole...um.....HELLO!! Mr. Detective is undercover when we first meet him, working to break the "Dog Fighting Ring" case, when he gets stuck babysitting, Jessica Brady, whom the idiot father and son team, have kidnapped to try and get money from her father. Jessica is everything that he doesn't need at that moment, when he is so close to blowing the case wide open, but her sweet voice and curvy body set off a protective streak in him that even he doesn't recognize.

I don't want to tell you too much about the story since it just came out today, and I sincerely want you all to read Kaylie's New Release, especially all my DOG lovers....we need to help support the rescues!! But I will say, I really, really liked this book, I liked our heroine, Jessica, who is funny and spunky, and I already drooled....I mean told you about Ian Cole....even his name is HOT!! And "Bruta"...who seriously makes this book SPECIAL.....we all need a Bruta in out lives!!

So my recommendation to you is to PURCHASE this book, well, you can also come by tomorrow and chat with me and Kaylie.....I will also be hosting a GIVEAWAY of an e-book copy of Falling In Danger for ONE lucky person to win!! So COME BACK TOMORROW to enter!!

The Kindle sample sold this book. I love when that happens. I stayed up way too late on a work night reading this book and couldn't wait to get back at it.

I loved the dog fighting ring storyline. It was a change of pace from the sex slave or drug cartel storylines that seem to permeate books today.

The heroine was on the youngish side and certainly naive, but it worked for the story. And she's got pretty good aim with her Jimmy Choos.

Ian/Fitz was a good "bad guy", a great cop and I loved that his and Jessica’s relationship actually developed over a few months even though their attraction to each other was instantaneous. The circumstances at the start of Falling in Danger lend itself to lots of sexual tension between them.

And Bruta….what can I saw about this big, scarred Pit-bull? I think had I been in Jessica’s place I would have been terrified of him in the beginning but your heart can’t help but feel for what he has to endure as a fighting dog. As a dog lover I couldn’t help but cringe at his brutal treatment…I felt so sorry for him. I certainly grew to love him...you wouldn’t be human if you didn’t and I was so glad he got to show his true colors. In the end he was the true hero.

I will definitely be reading more from this author.

The ending was the best part. Loved Bruna, but the
MC's weren't anything special. The story's about
dog fighting & trying to stop a ring of it.

I received a copy of Falling in Danger by Kaylie Newell in exchange for my honest review.

When Journalist Jessica Brady is captured by the head of an illegal dog fighting ring she does everything she possibly can to escape, not believing her father who they are planning on blackmailing will ever pay over the ransom her captors are requesting.

Jessica was a believable character, her reactions and emotions when captured were portrayed perfectly; she was feisty, she showed her fear, she panicked and she fought back.

Ian Cole is undercover and on the verge of arresting the key players involved in the organization of the dog fighting ring when he is assigned to babysit Jessica which also enables him to protect her from the evil son of the ring boss, Albert Mancini. When Ian's cover is blown he is forced to bust the ring early, but Jessica doesn’t give up and decides to pursue the story.

I loved Ian and Jessica as a couple, he was certainly the alpha male and more or less lived for his job but I enjoyed how these two were bought together and their interactions. It was a really nice romance.

Falling in Danger was a real page turner; I enjoyed all of the characters, including the villains who were truly horrible; even Bruta played a wonderful role – I adored this dog and truly felt for what he had to endure.

Ms Newell’s writing is wonderful, the plot flowed quickly and smoothly and kept me riveted throughout. I will definitely read more books written by Kaylie Newell.

Review Written for www.books-n-kisses.com

The synopsis gives you a very clear explanation about the book so I will not reiterate that but I will tell you I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would. The book is very well written especially since it looks like this is only the second book by this author.

I love the male character, Ian, he has a strength about him that is written so clearly into the character it is hard not to fall for him. Jessica is great too, except I would have been happier to not have her on the verge of tears so often. I also enjoyed Bruta, the pit bull. The book is about dogfighting and the rescue of fighting dogs and Bruta is a poster child for these innocent victims. It breaks your heart to know that these dogs are out there forced into a life they do not want and yet the books celebrates the “parents” who rescue these dogs and rehabilitate them. The only thing is I wished the author had given us a little more of an epilogue/chapter 15. It felt a little abrupt of an ending when it comes to the couple and the dog even though, yes, it is a happy ending a little more detail would have been nice. But other than that this book is great and is not a story to be missed.

**NOTE: 40% of the publisher's proceeds from the sale of this book will be donated to The Pixie Project, a non-profit organization that provides adoption services for animals.

Kaylie Newell is a new to me author. After reading Falling in Danger, I am looking forward to reading more books from her. The book is a very well written romantic suspense with a very icky bad guy. The characters were great. Jessica has a huge fear of dogs, but she can see the sweetness in Bruta, the pit bull. I thought for a dog, Bruta was a great character and what a hero he turned out to be.

Ian and Jessica have an instant attraction, but neither is willing to admit it. When they finally get together, the scene is combustible. They were great for each other in that they teach each other a lot about trust. Ian also shows Jessica the potential she has inside to be a great journalist. My only wish for the book is that I would have liked it to be a bit longer. I wanted more of Jessica and Ian together.

If you are looking for a new and fresh author, give Falling in Danger a shot!

This is a great book that you will not be able to put down! You could relate to the fear and intense emotions that the main character, Jessica, has for her captor! You fall in love with the dog and feel like you are watching the movie! Kaylie Newell has an amazing way of giving you plenty of detail so that you feel like you can see the scene! Kaylie is my favorite writer and I can't wait to read more of her books! Don't wait, go buy it today!

This was a refreshing little book. Loved how she and Bruta saved each other. For a new author, I thought she had good description without being tedious. I would have liked to see more resolution to the relationship, although I guess we can infer.

Very precictable, which is not always a bad thing for me as a reader, but this one had nothing really to offer. No interesting heroes, heroines, villains or even canines. Just didn't do anything for me.
