Kaitlyn Noles has always been the kind of girl who studies hard and keeps to herself. But when Samantha Boward-a black-haired, bright-eyed beauty with an attitude fiercer than her studded leather boots-is transferred to Loshano High School, something within Kaitlyn ignites. Drawn by Samantha's badass demeanor, Kaitlyn begins to question everything she thought she knew about herself, including her sexuality. As their friendship evolves, emotions run high, and Kaitlyn is introduced to the party life. But as Kaitlyn spirals down this dark path and begins to see the danger in her ways, she comes to realize through sleepless nights and countless arguments that Samantha's addiction is out of control. Caught between love and a desire to make something of herself, Kaitlyn struggles to make the toughest decision of her life: salvage a toxic relationship, or abandon the only person she's ever cared for.
Not one redeeming thing about this book. Very little plot. All of the horrors of addiction, alcoholism, violence, sexual abuse, bullying, and abandonment, without relent. Not even well written. Not recommended.
A little hard to read as it touched a bit close to home. I never did any drugs but weed, tried shrooms, twice, I'm straight, not much of a drinker, but the family, the parents were worse. My Twin brother did not survive it, took his own life at 25. I took the opposite route, stayed in school, joined the military. But what a powerful story. As she wrote, I read, I felt her pain, desperation, fears, frustration and grief. Excellent writing. As hard as it was to " relive" I absolutely must read the second book ( which was published first but hey, due me, I wanted to read them in order!!!!
I was very pleased to have my questions answered from book one... what led Sam to become who she was? Sam had issues & lots of secrets in book one. Thanks to this one many questions got their answers. Well all except one— were is she now?
FourStars This is a very heartbreaking book. It's a sad reality that so many children really have to grow up this way. But the fact that she realizes it led her to where she was supposed to be is pretty incredible for someone so young.
I enjoyed this book. It was well written although the plot was a little confusing until the end I wasn't really sure what the book was even supposed to be about. I feel like it ended as soon as you figure out the point to it. With that being said, I can't wait to read the sequel and find out what actually happens. I hope in the next book there is a point to having all of this heartbreaking information about Sam.
I was given this in return for an honest review by Inked Rainbow Reads.
