Darrel A. King has been writing ever since the age of eight. His first published work of fiction was penned during the fall of 1976 as a student of Mary Field’s Elementary School on South Carolina’s Daufuskie Island. This effort was an adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkein’s “The Hobbit,” that he also wrote and illustrated. It was published in the school’s quarterly periodical, “The Daufuskie Kid’s Magazine.” Darrel King has written stories and numerous poems, several of which were published in the 1995-1996 “Poetry Anthology” by the National Library of Poetry in Owings Mills, Maryland. During the 90s, Darrell King became inspired by and attracted to the lurid tales of inner city crime. Dramas he read in novels by great writers such as Donald Goines and Iceberg Slim captivated his attention. These tales prompted Mr. King to begin his literary career writing his very own stories of urban crime and inner city drama. Darrel King is the author of Mack Daddy: Legacy of a Gangsta, Dirty South, How Do You Want It? and Mo' Dirty : Still Stuntin’ is his latest release and the much anticipated sequel to Dirty South. Darrell King was raised in South Carolina's Dufuskie Island. He now resides in Maryland with his wife and children.
Deadly Phine, is a story about a drug dealer who seeks revenge in the deadliest way. It is also about how the government does corrupt things to its citizens. Deadly Phine is a mix between the movie Mrs. Ever's Boys and some of the headlines you hear about in the news. I really enjoyed this book. I would have liked Lucien's uncle to have a bigger part in the book, other than that, this was a good read.
Deadly Phine by Darrel King was by far probably the worse urban fiction book I ever read. The cover summary seemed to show me that the book has potential. But while reading up to the 3rd chapter the book was quite distasteful. The author incorporates conspiracy facts about the HIV/AIDS virus. In retrospect the book is basically one big conspiracy theory which supports the existence of the Illuminati. People i read this book from page to page and It was not that enjoyable. DO NOT READ.
This book started out ok. But I dont like to read all the slang talk that the characters are using. I cant get into to it and its somewhat hard to read through.
What an eye opener!! I loved this novel and the lesson that comes along with it. This is my first Darrell King novel but I can guarantee it will not be my last! Truly a GREATread!
Belinda Atwood, passed away leaving behind a young child and her seventeen year old brother. Losing his parent at a young age and now his sister Brian a.k.a Ant man is bitter and revenge is oozing from every pore of his body. He would extract revenge upon the brother who sentenced his sister an early death.
On December 11, in Virginia a family to include their German shepherd was massacred at the hands of a seventeen year old. The gunmen enlisted in the military hoping to getaway and forget the night he murdered Pedro Valentino, his family and their dog.
The older Valentino, after learning of his son’s death gave up custody of their son’s child and moved to their native home, in Puerto Rico. Belinda’s child was raised by her best friend Rita Ann, Larry went from a hopeful to a street thug around the age of thirteen. Eventually he changed his name from Larry to Lucien Octavius Valentino. The named earned him respect and fear from the streets, and he embraced the name and backed it up with his actions. He is as mean and heartless as they come. But can you blame him?
Karma is a mutha; Lucien has the same fate as his sister. He contracted a strain of the HIV/AIDS virus. However it is not your normal strain his is called HIV5X. Lucky for him the military has brought in a young doctor, on a top secret mission to use BIOMAX O which causes the virus to lay dormant in Lucien’s system, however if misses his shots for two consecutive month he will develop FULL BLOWN AIDS and die, if he has sex his partner will develop AIDS the first sixty days after the act. The military promised the doctor $1M, his own laboratory and Walter Reed recognition for his work on the project called “Inner City Experiment” but a deal this sweet must also share in the sour right?
I really enjoyed the concept of this story; it was interesting how the author started each chapter with nuggets regarding HIV/AIDS statistics and facts on the disease, but no footnotes on the resource. I read the eBook and I could not find the resource notes for where the author pulled the information, maybe it’s in the paperback format.
I am not a fan of book with so many characters. It was really difficult keeping track of everyone, infected people, Lucien soldiers, family and friends and how they connect, as well as the locations. At one point in the story we went from Virginia to Puerto Rico then several other stateside locations. This caused me some challenges in connecting the story and storyline flow, because I had to keep going over certain parts, but it was an ok read.
Hmmm Lucien has his own evil plan and it is nothing good. Ladies BEWARE he is FINE (phine) and DEADLY!! This PDF was provided by the author for the purpose of this review
3.5 Stars it was good overrall I didnt have to put down again I was able to read it.. It was consist with the storyline but the reference of the history would pull away from it being told of the characters talking..

Review:
"Deadly Phine" by Darrell King was a believable story that had one truethought in the end and that is AIDS and HIV is a serious virus that is deadly and was a intentional spread of one of the worse diseases ever! I found this novel that was told in two parts...all very educational in more than one way that truly left you saying OMG and Wow! This was sort of what I thought when I heard about the Tuskegee Oklahoma experiment from 1932-1972. Why? This is certainly a subject that many of us are afraid to address and that we should all be aware of. Why? Unprotected sex is deadly! Mr. King did a wonderful job providing us with informational facts about this deadly virus? I really like how this author opened up each chapters with a true "occurrences...some of people purposely infecting others with this HIV/AIDS virus" and even telling us of Brian Stewart "who intentionally infected his son with this virus because He did not want to pay child support." Now, can you believe that? This novel definitely gives you a very "realistic look at this epidemic that has plagued the person that has had unprotected sex and now wished they hadn't."
The novel will take you from Virginia, Washington DC, California to Puerto Rico and back. There will be a lots of twist and turns that you may not see coming but if you stick with it...it all come out and you may be left wondering just how many Lucian Valentino's are out there in our world because one has been blinded my smooth talk and supposed love. Now, I hope you are asking just what is this "Deadly Phine" is all about... because you can only find out by picking up this good read and find out just who is this Larry a.k.a Lucien Octavius Valentino (who knowingly goes around infecting women with this deadly disease) ....and just what else he brings to this read. Get ready for a good read that will only leave you asking...will there be another sequel to "Deadly Phine?" There were some very interesting characters in this read...some I did liked and others I was left saying OMG I don't believe this!
"Deadly Pine" is a interesting, intriguing page turner...full of terror, crime and drama. After reading this novel you are able to see how this story has a "terrifying reality that many people do not take safe sex serious and without this basic communication, one could fall victim to someone else's bad choices."
The ending will give you cause to think and be aware of that pretty face with all of those materialistic things...and even a smooth talker. Yes, I did like this read and and found it very informative. I would definitely recommend "Deadly Phine" as a excellent read.
