Planetary Echoes: Exploring the Implications of Human Settlement in Outer Space

Rate this book
Today the technology to reach nearby planets is possible. Even though many long-term technical challenges still need to be solved to support the creation of a permanent, self-sustaining human presence on another planet, imagining humans as a multi planetary species is not a mere fantasy anymore. Against this backdrop, the publication addresses the imagination of life on other planets in the arts, literature, and sciences at the beginning of the 21st century. It thereby attempts to interweave the discourse into the very fabric of society today, and aims at connecting artistic research and the abstract theoretic sciences on an international level.

It's an interesting mix of opinions on humanity's future in and relationship with space. I wish there were a couple of slightly more in depth essays on the anthropolpgical and cultural shifts that are required for a leap into space, or the shifts that may result.
