What’s worse than being shipwrecked? Being shipwrecked with your ex.
We’d been the perfect couple. I thought he was my Mr. Right. But boy, had I been wrong. We’d gone our separate ways, but now I needed a favor. He was there like the knight in shining armor he once was. Neither of could have known we’d be swept away. We survived, and I couldn’t stop thinking about how we’d fit together so perfectly. I needed to get off the island before I did something I’d regret. At least that’s what I told myself. But what I really wanted, was to go back in time, and be stuck with the man I once knew.
If only I could put the past behind me, maybe I could have one last perfect time with him. But it wasn’t like he wanted that anyway… did he?

Sometimes you just pick up a book and start reading, then realize you’re smiling…a really big stupid smile. Because the book is just that much fun. That’s what this story felt like to me. I’m not usually a big fan of novellas—I like to sink my teeth into the longer books because I like more character development than most novellas are able to produce in their short “life span.” But there’s just something so endearing about these main characters, especially Jack, that I was quickly engaged and rooting for them even without my need for lengthy bits of character development.
Jack and Penny have a history. It ain’t all good, either. They had a good life once, but Jack sort of… well… trashed it. Unintentionally, of course. You could even say it wasn’t entirely his fault. He certainly didn’t mean to screw things up by…oh geez. It’s complicated. He was doing his best in a really tough situation. But it’s all water under the bridge now, since Penny simply couldn’t forgive him. So Jack moved on, uncomplicated his life, sold basically everything he owned and moved onto his boat in the marina.
But now, years later, Penny’s in a bind, and as much as she doesn’t like the idea, it looks like Jack and his boat might be her only way to reach her destination. I think this is when I started falling for Jack. I mean, what a sweetheart. His ex approaches him out of the blue and asks him to use his boat to take her to a party on a yacht??? I can think how most men would respond, and it wouldn’t be nearly as politely as Jack does. Most men’s answers would have involved a lot of 4-letter words, I’m thinking… But this was when I started to root for Jack. In fact, the more I found out about the guy, the more I kinda’ felt like him. I’m pretty sure I’ve walked a few miles in his deck shoes.
Obviously, Jack and Penny don’t make their rendezvous with the yacht. This poor guy just can’t catch a break. In his effort to do something nice for his ex, he sets out (against his better judgment) into weather that’s about to turn bad. Really bad. Before he can say “Mayday,” they’re overboard in lifejackets watching Jack’s boat/home sink below the waves with all of his worldly possessions. Well shoot. That could have gone better.
This may be just a quick afternoon read, but it’s fun and delicious. Penny’s character is fun, but Jack, well… I think I’ve made my point already. Together, they make for an enjoyable read.
Stranded by Piper Phoenix a five-star read that you wont need a second chance to read as you wont be able to put it down on the first read. This was a super quick hot and steamy read that you can read in one sitting and will love from start to finish.
Piper has written a quick entertaining second-chance romance that is difficult to put down. The book involves Jack and Penny who were once in love. They broke up due to a perceived betrayal by Jack. They haven't seen or spoken to each other for years. When Penny needs a ride to a yacht party her only option is to ask Jack for help. He agrees but on their way a severe storm hits and the boat sinks leaving Jack and Penny stranded. Here they are stuck on a deserted island together. Although the attraction is still there, can they move forward forgiving and forgetting the past? “Stranded” is a beautiful steamy short story, a sweet romance and one worth reading. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
This was a sweet second chance romance between former high school sweethearts, Penny and Jack. They broke up when he betrayed her by throwing her under to bus because of her brother and a drug situation. She couldn't forgive him so he finally moved on. They reunited when she came to him for a favor. She wanted him to use his boat to take her to this yacht party. He was concerned about the weather but went anyway.. The store caused the boat to sink and they were stranded with life jackets. They realize how much they still care about each other. No spoiler here, but this is a sweet romance with likeable characters. I read a reader copy and voluntarily chose to write a review.
I read this book as part of an arc program. This was a quick read about a couple that have a second chance at romance. Jack and Penny broke up six years ago after Jack did something he thought was unforgivable. Penny was on her way to meet her cousin at a party on a yacht when she missed the last boat to the yacht. Penny saw her ex-boyfriend Jack on his boat docked and Penny decided to ask Jack if he would take her to the yacht. When they set out, they ran into a storm and the boat sank. They ended stranded on an island where they had to find a way to survive and be rescued. While on the island, they had to talk about their breakup. This was a cute story about them reuniting, good one.
Such a sweet, quick, second chance romance by Piper Phoenix. Penny and Jack were the perfect couple and planning a future together until Jack sacrificed his relationship with Penny to loyalty to her brother. Six years have passed; Penny still harbors confusion and a little bitterness towards Jack and while he acknowledges and regrets his part in the demise of their relationship, he remains a bit stuck in the past, hoping for her change of heart. This is a story of forgiveness and redemption. Can Penny forgive Jack, move forward, and learn to trust again. A fast, engaging read I give 3.5 stars.
Penny needed to get to a party boat where her best friend is. She didn't want to go to this party but knew that Heidi would never let her forget it if she didn't show up. Jack is living on his boat. He and Penny were in love before he majorly screwed up. When Penny learns that she missed the last boat to the yacht she asks Jack for a lift with his boat. He reluctantly agrees to take her. They end up in a ferocious storm and stranded on an island without food or water. Will they be able to mend their fences and not starve to death. Good story but needs editing.
Fated Second Chance The story is fast-paced. The story is a second chance romance when the Hero, Jack, betrays the Heroine, Penny. Penny hasn’t seen Jack for many months. By chance she is at the same boat dock as Jack. She misses the last boat to take to the yacht party. Jack is there on the dock & has a boat. He agrees to take her. The Fates have another idea for these two and literally throws them together. The story progresses quickly to an HEA with some very hot steamy sexy scenes between these two. I enjoyed the story and recommend it.
For a short book this one was absolutely wonderful. It gave us a realm of so many possibilities. It shower us that even when you have love, lose it and find a way to get it back it's all worth the heartache and pain. In this short we see that.i must say this one is worth the read and needs a book 2. We need to know what their future holds. I give this book 4.5 stars. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book as an Advanced Reader's Copy.
This is a really sweet second chance romance and I really liked it although I don't have a single ex I want to be stranded with. This is Penny and Jacks story these two were head over heels in love until Jack ruined it.Now years later she needs him to give her a lift in his boat but they encounter a storm and end up stranded together. These two still have lots of chemistry but can they get past the past?A really good read I liked it.
This short read is a second chance at a HEA for Penny and Jack. These two have a lot of chemistry and their story is engaging. I'm kind of on the fence about what Jack did though. I'm not sure I could have forgiven him or trusted him again. Other than that the book read easily and is enjoyable. I'm posting a honest, voluntary review.
It’s a short second chance story. Penny meets Jack after 6 years, when she needs a boat to go to a party on another boat. He helps her, but the boat is destroyed by a tempest and they are trapped on an island. It’s quite simple story about the evolution of main characters love, to trust again. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
An awesome second chance romance. Extremely entertaining, captivating and interesting sexy read. I could not put it down. Wonderfully written with strong characters. I want to read more from this author. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
This is a short and steamy second chance romance. The characters are relatable, although someone didn't actually deserve a shot at a second chance. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.
This story was a fun read a great story that I enjoyed I won't give any spoilers great characters and storyline. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book.
I really enjoyed this quick read. Jack and Penny have a past, and it isn't all sunshine and roses. He screwed up BAD, and she couldn't forgive him. Fate throws them together and sparks fly again. The plot and writing are great. I liked Jack and Penny. This was a fun, quick read. Good job Piper Phoenix.
