The first sweet and sexy standalone in Abby Brooks' captivating BROOKSIDE series...
For every wound, there is a scar.
A tattooed rock star raised on fame, Liam McGuire is a spoiled man-child. His sexy body and sinful face blinds the world, but I see through it to what he is inside.
Ugly.
When his tour bus rolls off the road, Liam's rushed to the hospital where I work. As his nurse, I'm around him more than I'd like, but the more I get to know him, the more I realize the world wasn't blind to him.
I was.
Liam McGuire feels deeply and loves wildly, throwing himself into everything he does with more passion than I ever dreamed possible. With that intensity aimed at me, the scars slashed across my own heart start to heal. He is fire and I've been cold my whole life.
Liam wants to leave his superstar life behind, but my hometown isn't ready to handle a celebrity living among us.
When tragedy strikes, the only person who can heal my soul is a man who belongs in a different world...
Wounded is a standalone contemporary romance set in the small town of Brookside. Character-driven. Emotional. Honest.
Abby Brooks writes heartfelt contemporary romance with small-town charm, found family, and happily-ever-afters that feel earned. Her stories feature relatable characters, emotional depth, and just the right balance of humor and heat—perfect for readers who love cozy communities, strong connections, and hope-filled love stories.
A lifelong storyteller raised in the Midwest, Abby draws inspiration from close-knit towns and the beauty of everyday moments. She lives in Ohio with her husband and their three cats and believes the best love stories are the ones that feel like coming home.
AHHHHH! I've just completed Wounded by Abby Brooks. I'm a little lost for words actually. I've only met a few of Abby’s books but this one BLEW ME AWAY! My heart and soul are Wounded in the best possible way. I was not expecting to feel the amount of emotions I did.
From the initial hate/enemy feel to the inevitable falling in love I was RIGHT THERE! Abby’s words infiltrated me and pulled me right in so I was experiencing every single thing that the characters were. My heart cracked and then broke during devastating scenes that were written with such intensity.
My heart was rebuilt through beautiful, passionate scenes that also made my tummy flip and flop.
Liam and Bailey were so well written. As total opposites these two should not have worked but Abby managed to pull them together and she did it spectacularly. Both characters were so flawed, yet so beautiful, each fighting personal demons and trying to handle each others. Even when everything implodes and things are pulled to within the thinnest degree their love is UNDENIABLE. It burrows deep into your skin and flares hope and happiness that is then delivered just brilliantly.
Wounded, from start to finish is a breathtaking read that worms it's way into your heart, grips tight and does not let go! 5 STUNNING stars!
Its been a while since i pick up a good NA book. As you know i am more into adult romance. Wounded took me by surprise. I do enjoy the book.
Yes therr is a lot of insta lust/ love between the characters. Also there is trigger on the story about depression and suicide. Even though i wish the author can highlight more on mental issue, the story is suffice enough.
I like bailey. She went through so much but yet she still have some faith on her to help Liam. I do enjoy their banters. Liam character needs more development. I feel through out the book he is somewhere in the background. I want him to ontribute more on helping Bailey.
The plot is standard. Not so much complicated twist.
This book had everything that I look forward to in a romance. Witty banter. Impending tragedy. The solace of loyal friends. And, an unexpected love story. That being said, you will smile with Bailey and Liam's romance as it takes both of them by surprise. Liam is the spoiled rotten pop singer and underwear model who gets injured during a bus accident. The injury has so much to do with his image because he ends up with a pretty ugly scar that runs the length of his beautiful face. And, Bailey is the nurse who treats him, and she is not impressed whatsoever. She tells him exactly what she thinks of him, and that leads to him crashing at her house for an unknown amount of time. He's not going back to LA anytime soon, and they both wonder how they are going to make living together work. What happens when this totally opposite couple find themselves reaching out to each other? Do they even have half a chance to make their relationship work??
Well, I just loved both main characters! Bailey is a feisty tell-it-like-it-is person. She's been on her own since the age of eighteen, and she is no push-over. Liam, like I said is spoiled, but I think Bailey just opened his eyes to what was really missing in his life and who he actually is. She sees the real him, and I thought that he really appreciated that. And, when tragedy erupts within Bailey's life, Liam is there to help her pick up the pieces. I really enjoyed their love story. It was entertaining and tender. The music really made their relationship beautiful and moving. Anything with music gives cause for the romance to be memorable. And, music was intimately present within this love story. I highly recommend this book to be read...
Wounded is an enjoyable, emotional read that kept me pinned to my kindle. Bailey is a strong woman, but so weighed down by guilt, she can’t move forward. Liam has lost himself, allowing those around him to distort his life to the point he no longer recognizes himself. In a strange act of fate, these two are thrown together, and their intense dislike of each other is the only thing they share. Or is it? As they change and grow, so do their feelings. Anger is replaced by understanding. Wariness turns to trust. Hate becomes love. A love that is tested and bent, but in the end, stays strong and real. A great read!
the synopsis pretty much tells you about Liam. What it doesn't say is who Bailey is. Bailey is a pretty confident, straight forward person; which so happens to be Liam's nurse. Bailey carries alot on her shoulders. The biggest being the lost of her ex-boyfriend and her parents. With all that said, she is still a pretty cool person. Liam is ok. Liam's manager should have been kicked to the curb along time ago; along with his mother. Bailey's best friend, Lexi, is pretty cool. Bailey's brother is not so bad either.
Overall - an ok story. Written in Dual POV but mainly in Baileys. The beginning was good; about 30% in dragged; picked back up when Liam finally decided to actually do something besides sit around the house; Around the 75% mark - There are moments, as a reader, we like the unexpected; This time, not so much. I mean why did that unexpected happen? That was just stupid. Could have gone in so many other directions but why that? Anyway, to me; it wasn't necessary and took away from the story. After the unexpected happen, the story moved pretty fast; Either way the story would have been just a 3 star but dropped to 2 with the last 25%.
Although Liam is a musician, the story is not based on the scene.
I don't see where readers are Blown Away by this. Alot of time passes through inner monologue. Anyway, just didn't work with me.
A fascinating enemies to lovers romance, in Wounded, we meet Bailey and Liam, and go on one heck of a journey.
Liam, rockstar extraordinaire, is injured in an accident, and his nurse while in the hospital is Bailey, the one girl who isn't swooning every time she gets near him. Bailey was a very special character to me. She has a lot going on, and has a lot to overcome. Liam, he was a dreamy rock God that wanted to be more to someone.
Wounded is a heartbreakingly sweet, opposites attract story. The characters are engaging, relatable and memorable. The story is emotional, developed well and a very enjoyable read.

Abby Brooks has out done herself with this 5 star read loaded down with ALL the feels. Wounded is an amazing love story intertwined with self discovery and healing. Liam and Bailey will have you going on a roller-coaster ride of emotions throughout the wonderfully written masterpiece. Have your box of tissues handy because you're going to need them. Seriously, this is the stuff movies are made of. Way to go, Abby!!!
I absolutely loved this rock star/nurse next door romance!!! Bailey and Liam both stole my heart. They were two broken souls--I loved watching the two of them find their way to each other and begin to heal. Wounded was a beautiful read about taking chances and believing in the power of love and forgiveness. Loved it!
Such an amazing book. Once I started reading it I actually devoured it in a few hours because the story was so intense that I could hardly put the book down. Abby has done a wonderful job in creating such unique characters like Bailey and Liam, wounded and broken differently by their past experiences but their encounter will be their redemption. In fact Bailey will heal from her obsessive conviction that she is cursed and on the other hand Liam will finally realize through Bailey what really life is all about. A sentimental and romantic book with some twists and moments of grief that will exalt the high spot of the book. A definitely must read, I highly recommend it.
Wounded is one of them stories that you don’t want it to end, you read through the story and then at the end start to read it slower because you don’t want it to end. This is one of them stories because I did not want to finish the story of Liam Mcguire and Bailey. This is the first book I have read by the author and instantly fell in love with their writing style. The author knows how to write a story that you feel like you are apart off and came up with a storyline that instantly attracted me to the story from start to finish.
Bailey is a strong and independent character that didn’t take help from anyone. But she is stuck in the past and unable to move on from the guilt that consumes her. I honestly found that Bailey was a character that I really enjoyed because it showed the struggles that a person faces when they have to deal with a huge lost in their life.
I want Liam McGuire for myself because he was such a dreamy character. At first he seems like he is a character that loves himself and think everyone is in love with him. But he was much more then that because he was a really lonely character that didn’t have anyone that really cared about him, only about the persona that gives his fans.
Wounded is about Liam McGuire who is a spoiled rock star that has an accident that causes him to have a scar down his face. Bailey is the nurse put in charge of Liam’s scare and she doesn’t see the famous rock star but she sees the ugly spoiled person that he is inside. But once these two get to know each other better, is there more between them then they both thought there was.
Wounded was an emotional read that had a lot of twists in it that completely blew me away. I consumed this book from start to finish and avoided doing my everyday tasks and sleep in order to read more of this book. This would have to be one of my favourite reads so far this year and cant wait to read more from this author.
*2.5 stars* This was a really difficult one to rate because I really did like Bailey. Liam was ok but there were quite a few parts throughout the book where I kinda wanted to punch him in the d**k. I found that it dragged on and on and on for a while and I couldn't help but skim through a few pages. Towards the end was written beautifully however and I think for me it made up for some of the draggy parts.
L I’m sitting here trying to wrap my head around this book. I’m at 76% and just heartbroken for Bailey. How much does one person have to endure in one lifetime?
“I’ll carry you when you can’t carry yourself” ❤️❤️❤️
86% the tears have started
This is a 5 star Read!!! I will be one clicking the rest of their series.
"Wounded" begins as your run of the mill love/hate relationship. Liam McGuire is Hollywood's biggest star. Pop idol, sex icon, and the owner of hearts around the globe. His world suddenly comes crumbling down when his tour bus flips and Liam gets hurt, leaving him with a scar starting at his forehead down to his chin.
As he recovers in a small town in Ohio near the crash, he meets the beautiful Bailey who has been assigned to be his nurse. Right away it is clear that Bailey does not like Liam McGuire. She believes that he is nothing but a spoiled brat and a complete asshole. Liam, who is adamant on not returning to LA, volunteers Bailey to let him live with her. She reluctantly agrees on a few conditions.
As the story goes on we learns just how dark Bailey's past is and how she copes each day with the ever consuming guilt she carries. We watch as her and Liam slowly but surely fall deeper and deeper in love with each other as they learn more and more about their lives.
This is such a lovely and beautiful read, full of love and tragedy. Two hearts trying to be the glue for each other as they journey through the healing process of the events in their lives. This book blew me away as my first book by Abby Brooks. She did not disappoint and I am looking forward to reading more of the "Brookside Romance" series.
This is the first book of Abby Brooks i have read (to be honest, i really don't know if she has any other books out) but this definitely will not be my last read by her. I thoroughly enjoyed this enemies to friends book. Bailey has had a lot of heartache in her life (not going to say what it is, that would just ruin it) so she has shut herself away from LOVE... Enter Liam... swoon worthy, musician/singer....a man with a lot of attitude..his rockstar ways...but through the accident, we see a different Liam to what his fans see...and this book takes you through the rollercoaster ride that is Bailey and Liams story. Definitely a book to read! **arc received for honest review:sisterhood of the travelling book blog**
So I received this in the mail yesterday (Romance Reveal Book Box) and I could not put it down! I just kept reading and reading. It was so good. This is my first Abby Brooks book and it will not be my last! I can't wait to read more from her! I'm definitely going to read Michele and Lexi's stories...I'm a sucker for single parent books so I'M THERE. I'm going to be all about these books! :)
Ooh wow this is seeet, Loving, Beautiful, Heartbreaking Liam land's in brookside due to an accident there he meets the feisty Bailey. Of course his PA wants him back in LA but he dcides to hide away With Bailey there things start to happen, there is passion heartache love and just gorgeous.
Audiobook 2 stars Narrator- Joe Arden👍 Stephanie Rose -OK
Bailey and Liam No make-up Bailey and Alpha-hole Liam. Alpha hole Manager Brent.
This is a 6 hour Audiobook and the first 2 hours is a lot of WOE IS ME type stuff, first him then her. She started out as confident and spunky but then became kind of tear in her beer, incapable, broken, unappealing.
Endless family drama. This story drags rrally you down.
Not my favorite. I think this series has potential and I would like to continue it. However, I listened to this on audiobook and the female narrator was horrid! Her pauses and the way she spoke drove me crazy. It distracted from the story, extremely!
Although I ended up loving Liam, I didn't at first. Bailey was great. She survived and flourished throughout the story. Good solid read. Next part already downloaded.
Wounded was an absolutely amazing story. It took you on such a rollercoaster ride of emotions from laughing to crying to swooning to falling hopelessly in love with the characters! And not just the two main characters Liam and Bailey, you will fall in love with them all. Both Liam and Bailey have pasts that haunt them and hurt them beyond repair it seems. Then they meet and start to heal each other! Unfortunately when tragedy strikes again can they move on from it and find their happily ever after? Abby Brooks most definitely outdid herself with this one! I absolutely loved this book. I'm still thinking about it three days after finishing it!! Definitely worth more than five stars! One of the best books I have read!! A DEFINITE must read!
WOUNDED by ABBY BROOKS Box of Kleenex needed. You will laugh and cry, but mostly fall in love. Abby Brooks frankly has OUTDONE herself in the background and research of WOUNDED. With books out now where kink and sex are most prominent, this story is like a breath of Fresh Air. My most treasured book to date. A MUST READ!!!!!!!!!
Wounded made me laugh, cry, happy, sad and most all feel the love between Liam and Bailey. The heart break and love for all the characters made this book exceptional. This was an amazing book Abby Brooks... I loved it!!!
A beautiful tale of two broken lost people finding their way through life with each other. This book will make you laugh, cry, angry, and finally happy and this author leaves you wanting more!
When I was looking for small town recommendations in my trusted online group, this was one of the suggestions... :) I'm not sure why, but out of all of them, this one, along with a few others, captured my attention a bit more, so I bumped it higher on my list to read :) and it was definitely the right move, cause I really liked it :) it's the first one in a series, but ends without any cliffhangers whatsoever, so don't worry :) other books in it revolve around some characters we meet in this first novel, and I am definitely looking forward to read at least some of them :) but for now, let me tell you a bit more about this particular story :)
Our main characters... :) let's start with Liam :) he's a pop star... one of those where it doesn't matter what you sing as long as you look good doing it... his words, not mine :) so when accident lefts him with a scar on his face, his future gets shaky... hospital is actually the place where he meets Bailey :) she's a nurse, and definitely a one with don't-mess-with-me attitude ;) she's not charmed by him at all... :) she has a troubled past, with her parents dying in a car accident a few years ago, and not-so-great relationship with her brother, she's not easy at making friends... but somehow she ends up helping Liam stay in her town while he recovers in peace... I won't say any more details about that particular situation, cause I don't want to spoil you certain events and decisions, so let's just move on :) theirs is definitely a bit of hate-to-love relationships, which is usually not my thing, but here it was more of a witty and sarcastic banter, so I actually quite enjoyed it :) I don't really want to get into too many details about how they got together and what happened next, mainly because it would involve some major spoilers that absolutely surprised me along the way, and I want you to be surprised as well ;) so now I will jump into all the reasons why I gave this awesome story 4,5 stars :)
First of all, the writing style :) this one is written in my favourite way, which is 2 POVs, and that means we got chapters from both Liam and Bailey in this story ;) not only that, but the writing style itself is very entertaining :) I think that's the main reason why certain behaviour didn't bother me... because the author made me understand why those people acted the way they did... the banter between our main couple is hilarious, but if you think the whole book is light then think again... because I was blindsided by the emotional aspects of it, that made me cry on my way to work on the subway... a great read :) although I have to say that my absolutely favourite character was Lexi, Bailey's best friend and a single mom... she is the heroine of one of the books in this series and I am tempted to skip ahead and read hers out of order :) we'll see how that will go :) I really loved this book... yeah, it wasn't perfect, but the interactions between our main couple, how their relationship changed within the pages of this story... how each of them changed and grew... *sighs happily* it was a joy to read and I highly recommend you guys to give it a try :) I certainly will go back to read more stories from this series, and generally written by this author :)
The story was a very nice story for a quick romance. But I will probably not read anymore of the series because the F-bomb was so prevalent. It took most of the enjoyment out of it for me. Can't there just be a nice book written without such frequent profanity. It made it ugly for me. Abby Brooks has a gift for story telling but must feel there are not enough words to fill the pages so fills in with offensive words. Sorry.
