In the shadowed streets of Toronto, there exists a garrison of soldiers like no other—nine immortal warriors, half-Archangel/half-human, living unknown amongst the city, defending humanity from the Daemons of the Hell realm. - This is Danel's story
Persian in a pique. Often in these alpha warrior-type romance novels, the hero lets go of his mercenary ways almost immediately upon meeting the heroine. Not so in this book. Danel, who mainlines his coffee addiction (I love the little Easter eggs on this topic in the first two books that make such sense in this book!), has pretty much ignored the pretty barista who knows just what he wants. Well, that is until he notices her being accosted in an alley near the coffee shop. From that moment on, Ronnie can't forget what she sees and Danel sets off an Underworld vendetta that rocks the Watchers' reality. I enjoyed how there are big stakes for the Watchers tied up with critical events in the politics of humans, but all is below the surface, of course. What doesn't stay beneath the surface is Danel's contempt for humans. His discomfort with Ronnie is palpable, and lingers through much of the story. Yet, because of health and circumstances, this doesn't feel like the typical stubborn hero. There was some finesse to how Madore handled Danel and his realization that he actually cares for Ronnie. This was an excellent third installment!
I wanted to keep hating Danel, but after this one it was impossible. It takes skill to take a character such as him and redeem him. It was well written and I think of this series, this is now my favorite. The storyline was solid and captivating and I am loving seeing where this series goes!
One night when Ronnie is walking home from her job she is attacked and the guy she has been crushing for months saves her. When he is knocked out she takes him home with her. So when Danel awakes he doesn't remember his battle with the Serpentines, the blond girl who is waiting for him to wake up, or who he is. As the danger to Ronnie continues and he gets his memory back he fights the draw he has to her, but he can not stop from getting closer and soon falls in love. I really liked Danels story and wished we learned a bit more about why he had a hate on for Zander, but I was happy that with Ronnies love he could heal and let the past go. This is a complete book with no cheating or cliffhangers. I read this book in exchange for an honest review
The difference between a fight scene and a conversation between a husband and wife. Break the change in scene with dashes or 4.1. anything to eliminate the confusion, please. The characters; I know the author may be familiar with them and maybe even those that read the other books before this one but I was not (first time reading this author). There were so many characters. I also didn't feel truly invested in Ronnie and Danel's story because there were so many other side stories to deal with.
It was a good story overall but an editor really is needed to set things right.
I am in deep in this series. JL Madore outdid herself yet again and I greatly enjoy seeing how her style is progressing within the series as well.
I find myself at unexpected times in the story palms sweaty, or bursting our laughing or getting really hot. I have to say its quite the experience to be caught off guard by Madore.
"How could I love book 3 more than the 2nd one?" I asked myself. I had to read it to know!
Thank you for rekindling the excitment in my life JL Madore!
This book is based on finding true love even for someone that never thought they would find it. It also showed that love can heal you. But when the darker side of life that tries to destroy love it goes to do love can win if you truly believe . Greed will only destroy you in time
This story works its way through some serious trauma and PTSD it shows you how you get lost in the pain and anger from it and then you learn that broken is okay that it's not the end. Danel's journey through all this and finally learning to love and live again was a great read.
This was a quicker read than book 1 and 2 but still filled with much descriptions. Danel finally found his centre of calm and Ronnie helped . Her story line is very sensitive and brilliantly wrote .
Always a lovely HEA with this writer. The best part? She gives hard and sometime bys heartbreaking realism that still never overtakes the light and the love and the laughter which seem to be her trademarks. I heart her humor so big!
These men have a tuff life and need women to stand by them in their life's as protected of the human race.I would like to say thank you for all your hard work and may fortune smile 😃on you always 😁from a bookworm
3.5 🌟's. This one was about my favorite of all the characters. I really was sad that it was the shortest one so far. I hope it's not a trend with the rest.
You'll fall in love with these rough and ready Watchers just like each of her heroines. Danel's story is one of pain and suffering until an unfortunate knock on the head gives him a chance to start with a clean slate and to find a chance at love. A continuing series that you'll love to read again and again. Can't wait to read the next in the series.
