Enid Blackwell feels responsible for her friend’s murder more than a year ago. Struggling with emotional turmoil and guilt, Enid is determined to make a safe, even if boring, life for herself by avoiding crime reporting and writing a weekly newspaper column. Assigned to do an article about a local soup kitchen, she discovers during an interview that the cook’s daughter simply vanished several months ago. The police investigated but have no further leads to follow, and the case is growing cold. Desperate and with nowhere else to turn, the father pleads with Enid, “Please help me find my daughter.” The Last Sale is the second book in the Enid Blackwell series.

Enid Blackwell is back! Coming off of an emotionally disturbing murder investigation, she's battling her natural inclination to investigate a young woman's disappearance with her resolve to lead a less stressful, non-challenging, safer life reporting on non-controversial topics. If you read Murder in Madden, then you can guess that the appeal of investigating a good mystery is much more attractive to her than reporting on mundane local attractions and events, and once again, Enid is drawn into the intrigue and suspense. Oh - and Jack is back, as well as another heart throb, Josh.
I don't want to spoil the plot for you. It's a "goodread," and I recommend it to everyone who enjoyed Murder in Madden as well as those who just want to read an interesting stand-alone novel. I guarantee it will have you anxious for the next book in the series!
After two books, I am totally into Enid Blackwood's world! I can't wait for the third book. Raegan Teller writes a great compelling story with believable characters and a great sense of adventure. I do love a good mystery and Teller's books have some clues along the way that I always miss! A clever writer and a heroine I would love to know better.
Another fantastic read by Raegan Teller! You won’t be able to put this one! A very timely subject about a horrific crime occurring right In our own backyard. She pulls you in with the storyline and characters and doesn’t let go! The ending has you wanting more! Hopefully the series will continue! Thanks for a great book!
Enid is back to work, just not exactly as she thought it would happen. Once again, Raegan Teller pulls you in and this time with a local and timely topic. Ever see those billboards on I-77 or I-95 about "Human Trafficking"? It is real and happens far too often as young people are abducted. Ms. Teller captures the intense emotions of all parties involved. Be prepared to keep on reading well beyond the time you expected.
Excellent novel which kept me on the edge of my seat until the end! This is not my usual genre and I'm not a big fan of mysteries and crime novels but this one really grabbed me. Although this is the second Enid Blackwell book, I did not feel I missed out on a lot by not reading the first one. Enid is a reporter who feels responsible for a friend's murder and since then has kept her stories safe and in the "society pages"....until she meets Theo in a soup kitchen who asks her to help him find his missing daughter who has been missing for several months. Thus the roller coaster ride begins.....and a great one it is!
I love the way mystery series start stacking up, and this second in the Enid Blackwell series really hits its stride! The scene has been set, the characters have been introduced, so now the story can take you deeper and creates a more dynamic experience. It also meant this book could get right to the action, and it really did. The pacing made it un-put-downable (actual word we use in my bookclub). This is an excellent follow-up book that makes me eager to read the next installment.
Just sat and read in one day! After I started I realize The Last Sale was the second book in the Blackwell series. So now to start on the first book Murder in Madden. Lots of twists and turns in the story. When I read mysteries I try to figure out the story and ending. Some surprising details not expected. An easy and enjoyable read.
The book cover to this novel describes how Enid Blackwell searches for answers in the disappearance of a cook's daughter. What it should also say is that it is very well written and is full of authentic insights into this societal nightmare. The characters are strong, the pace is quick and the plot is superbly unfolded. Every page of this mystery thriller is worth reading.
I love the characters in these books. It feels like I really know them. Again, I enjoy the writing and the short chapters. It makes reading this book so addicting!
