Angel Jax has her life completely together. Well, not really. She's the quintessential girl next door who just happens to live in a retirement community, and writes smutty romantic comedies for a living. It is in no way her fault when she interrupts a domestic dispute, which puts her square in the sights of a crime boss with creative ideas for getting his money back.
In a panic she turns to the only person who can help her. He was a decorated hero in the military, sought after Special Forces, bodyguard, investigator—finder of lost people. He’s the man she needs. Too bad she hasn’t spoken to him since her junior year of high school, when he crushed her heart into tiny pieces without even knowing it. Stupid Gabe Anderson.
Gabe hasn’t seen Angel in fifteen years, until she suddenly shows up at his office and picks a fight with his assistant in the first five seconds. It’s clear she’s in trouble, but before he can find out exactly what kind of trouble, she’s snatched off the sidewalk right in front of him. He’ll help her—of course he will. But he won’t let her go until she tells him what went wrong between them all those years ago.
Angel has been harboring her anger at Gabe for so long, she doesn’t want to open old wounds. But this grown-up Gabe. This man is a completely different person now, and he’s disturbing the graves of the feelings she buried long ago.
A lot can change in fifteen years. But with the past lingering, and secrets untold, Gabe and Angel will have to come to grips with what tore them apart, or lose each other for good.

Review: I wasn't sure what to expect from this book but somehow it didn't fully meet my expectations but on the other hand it did? It's weird. I wished the suspense part was worked out a bit better. The reason why Angel cut Gabe out of her live was really stupid. I get it upset her but to cut him out completely for that was a bit of an over reaction. They could have talked it out easily within a few minutes. Instead they spend 15 years mulling over it. Totally unnecessary. Other than some stupid drama it was fun watching Angel and Gabe interact. Angel was quite stubborn and made some stupid choices but other than that, it was fun. The side characters where fun as well. Dino was quite interesting.
What is this book about: Angel and Gabe where childhood best friends but one event tore their friendship apart. 15 years later Angel didn't expect to be on Gabe doorstep needing help. Angel witnessed something she shouldn't have and that put her on the radar of some very bad people. Begin ex military and owning his own security firm makes Gabe the right guy for the job. Despite the pent up emotion, sparks still fly between them.
What did I like/love: I liked the idea of the book. It was a quick read. Gabe was a good guy and I did like Angel. The side characters where fun as well.
What did I dislike/hate: Didn't like the unnecessary drama. I mean I expected it but could have done without it. It was to predictable.
Desiree has a way to create some loveable main characters and swoon worthy heroes. Gabe is not far away from Beck from Permanence of Pain. I read that book a while ago and didn't make the connection but somehow I felt like I know those characters because they are hard to forget. But let's focus on Gabe and Angel here.
Angel's thoughts when she saw Gabe after 15 years was that he had presence. I can feel her because even if I couldn't see him I had the same feeling. And that says a lot about the writing style. He is present, dominant, skilled and handsome. Ah, and he is wearing suits on a daily basis. My weakness as well as Angel's. Book boyfriend material right there. And Angel is so sweet and go with the flow but also insecure and rightly so after all the things she went through in high school.
I love that after all those years they still know each other and understand one another. I would have loved to meet Gabe's mom as well as she is mentioned so many times but who knows...a HEA book with both couples wouldn't be bad at all *just saying*
Gabe is a story that is right in my wheelhouse. It's got friends and intrigue and sexy men and romance and redemption. It's a quick read with characters that I was invested in right from the beginning. It was super exciting to revisit Beck and Regina from "The Permanence of Pain".
Beck and Angel were very enjoyable to read and the story moved a good pace with a nice flow.
Angel lives in a retirement community and we should all be so lucky to have people who watch out for each other.
This is only the second book I've read by this author and she has easily become one-click author for me!
Gabe is the first book in the Glass City Hearts Series by Desiree Lafawn. It is a seriously funny and action packed Rom-com. I have read all Ms. Lafawn’s books and am impressed at how easily she can slip from one genre to another. From Paranormal romance to romantic comedy, she can do it all, producing excellent stories that keep you hooked right till the end. I had pretty high expectations for this book, because all the others were so well done- and again Ms. Lafawn has brought her A game, writing what I consider to be her best book yet! Angel Jax is a bit of a quirky character. At 32 years old she lives in a retirement community, writes romance novels- and is also a musician who sings part time at a local bar. She has had the worst luck with men, so she doesn’t do relationships preferring casual hook-ups instead. She has seen something that she shouldn’t have and was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Now she really needs some help, and time is running out. With little choice she decides to ask her childhood friend, who she hasn’t seen for 15 years, to help her. They used to be best friends, but that was long ago. She would prefer not to have to ask him, but he has the particular skill-set she needs right now. But, their first meeting in over a decade doesn’t go as planned, leaving both of them hot-headed and arguing out in the parking lot when a car pulls over and snatches Angel right off the street. That trouble has finally caught up with her. Gabe is ex Special Ops, now overseeing the family investment firm, as well as running his own Personal Protection and Information Gathering business. He is shocked to see Angel again after all this time. They have a lot of unfinished business, but before he can get to the bottom of it all she is grabbed from right in front of him. It happened so quickly that he never had a chance to react before it was too late. What could she have possibly gotten herself into? He would do everything he could to help her and find her. Because he needed answers. What did Angel see? Why is she in such deep trouble? What happened when she was snatched? Will Gabe find her in time? What happened in the past that broke their friendship apart? This story is really fantastic. It has some really hilarious scenes, funny quips and banter- that had me laughing out loud. There was also plenty of action, some suspense and enough drama to keep things very interesting. The story has a great pace and a smooth flow. It is told from a duel POV, so we get a really great balance of perspectives, thoughts and feelings. The story is really well written, and so easy to read as Ms. Lafawn has a sexy, engaging and descriptive style to her writing that just draws you in. This was a brilliant start to a new series and I can’t wait for the next instalment!
Gabe is the first book in Desiree Lafawn’s Glass City Hearts series. I read the third book first and then felt compelled to pick up the first and the second books of the series. I absolutely love Desiree Lafawn’s writing, there is something magical about it … it pulls you in and doesn’t let you go … she makes the characters so real that you feel as if you are experiencing their lives along with them! I recommend to start with the first book and then continue with the next ones as you will meet some of the characters in previous books and knowing their stories you will get so much more out of the story you are reading! Gabe is the story of Gabe Anderson, an ex-Special Forces, bodyguard, investigator … the hero of every warm blooded woman, and Angel Jax, the girl next door who writes smutty romantic comedies and moonlights as a singer for living … what do they have in common? They were the best friends when growing up and then … something happened … and they have not seen or spoken for fifteen years! And now, Angel is at Gabe’s door as he is the only one who could help her out of the sticky situation she has ended up in … It is a masterfully written story of past secrets and present filled with danger … openings for second chances and … well, everything one would want from a story that takes us away …
Gabe (Glass City Hearts Book 1) by Desiree Lafawn is the first book in her Glass City Hearts series. This is not my first book by this author but it is my favorite of hers, hands down! This book has a little bit of everything in it from suspense to romance. This author's writing style is easy flowing and engaging. Her attention to details made me feel as if I was right there with the characters. The characters are both lovable and connectable. They took me on an emotional roller coaster ride that I couldn't get enough of. The twists and turns left me sitting on the edge of my seat just waiting to see what would happen next. This is Angel and Gabe's story. These two grew up together, they were best friends. A little misunderstanding has them parting ways after high school. Today, Angel lives in a retirement community where she sings and writes romance books. She has managed to find herself into some trouble and realizes she only knows one person she can turn too. It has been fifteen years since Gabe has seen Angel until she shows up at his office. She picks a fight with the receptionist and takes off. He knows that she is in trouble but didn't know how much until she is kidnapped right in front of him. There is no doubt in his mind that he will help her but he is determined not to let her go until he finds out why she broke his heart all those years ago. Will they finally be able to come to terms with the hurt and anger from the past? Will Angel be forced to deal with her anger? Is there forgiveness in their future? I loved both of these characters. They have such chemistry and attraction, that I found myself hoping they would find their happiness. Angel is a strong and has a tendency to be feisty and at other times insecure. Gabe is no doubt a book boyfriend everyone should want. He is strong, take control type of guy. I loved watching Angel bring out the soft side of him. He is very protective of what is his. They really do make a great couple. The other characters in this book I have seen before in a previous book, it was great seeing them in this one too. They are all supportive and help make the story line flow. This is a must read book! I highly recommend this book. Find out if Angel and Gabe put their past behind them and finally reveal their true feelings.
Gabe by Desiree LaFawn is the first book in her new series, Glass City Hearts, and what a fantastic start to what is meant to be a great series. Following the story of Gabe and Angel was great ride full of fast paced rom-com goodness that kept me on the edge of my seat from page one until the last. Angel was a hoot to get to know, living in a retirement community while writing romance novels and playing as a musician part time in a bar downtown, at 32 years old she is a quirky character that will make you laugh and cry at her antics. When those antics take her to a place that she sees something she isn't supposed to, her world is tiled on its axis, when she has to reach out to Gabe, an ex-Special Ops military man who was well sought after during his years in the military; a childhood friend who she hadn't seen in over 15 years. Gabe having left the military during the years apart, he now runs the family investment firm while also running his own Personal Protection and Information Gathering business. The last time they got together it was overly heated with allot of hurtful things being hurtled across a hot parking lot at each other, leaving a damaged road she will have to travel to get back to him. Seeing Angel after all this time, the shock is almost overwhelming, with the amount of unfinished business they have it leaves allot in the way of these two working together. Being thrust together when Angel is in trouble, Gabe is willing to do what he needs to do to keep her safe, at the same time as trying to uncover where they went wrong all these years ago. But digging up the past has a way of turning the future onto different paths. Will Gabe and Angel be able to work through the past to get together in the future or will her accidental sighting be the end of these two before they even begin? First off, What and amazing read! The dialogue between Gabe and Angel was so funny to read, they played off of each so well that I couldn't put this one down. LaFawn is a favorite author of mine, having read several of her books in the past, this book lives up to her hype for sure. Writing her story from both POVs, made for great insight into her characters, and her storyline was so well executed, that this is a book that everyone looking for a great read should pick up. I can't wait to see where this series goes, and hope to see Gabe and Angel again in the future.
Gabe (Glass City Hearts Book One) by Desiree Lafawn was an fast pace, heart pounding, emotional read that hooked me hard. I think I just set a new reading record.
Holy catfish! That was superb, no it was astonishing, spectacular... I'm at a lost for real constrictive words. The ending was all emotional badassness, that exploded into a mess of ... I can't say... but I wanted it to keep going, I need a Gabe and Angel in my life!
The writing was perfection, it grabbed my attention and held it, I don't think I looked up in three hours, well once, my cat forced her way in my lap. The tone shifts were seemliness as were the POV switches. I loved that I got to be in Gabe's head. It gave this story that extra something that drove the hooks in more. Reading both mind sets, and backtracking so you got both sides of a situation, magic, pure magic!
The book was not messing around, we are tossed into the fire right out of the gate. Angel's mess, her peal for help and the twist of her getting... I can't say it will ruin my favourite par of the book. All I will say is that it set the stage, and made me Team Gage. Speaking of, I loved his character. I don't know what it was about this alpha male, normally I'm not fond of them, but hell this was alpha done right, and made me all gushy on the inside (New book boyfriend people!). In the words of Louise Belcher, I just want to slap it, I want to slap his hideous beautiful face.
Angel, I like you, smart mouth and all. Though I was annoyed by your, how do you call it, stupid way of holding a grudge. Well I was until the end, and you almost had me turn on my man Gabe, but hell, now I want to huge you. Anyways, back to me not talking to a fictional character. Angel is everything I look for in a female MC. Smart, strong and flawed. She spoke her mind, did what she believed was right and tired to live her best life, while hiding being a reinforced concert wall.
God I loved this book, and I need, need to know more about them, about their world. This books was a teas, there are so many complex things in the subplots and undertones, that I need to know... everything. I highly recommend you get our hand on this magical read. You will not be able to take your eyes off this classic in the making.
Gabe (Glass City Hearts Book One) by Desiree Lafawn 5 out of 5stars This is the second book written by Ms. Lafawn that I have read and I couldn’t put it down the characters are amazing the plot is incredible that I finished reading this story in one sitting. Angel Jax is the quintessential girl next door who just happens to live in a retirement community, and writes smutty romantic comedies for a living. This book has a little bit of everything, intrigue, mystery, crime, sleaz, laughs, heat, sweetness current events and a realistic quality. Right from the start we realize there’s a bit of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. We also get to experience some laughable moments at Angels somewhat questionable living conditions. One of the truly nice elements to this story is you can identify with the female character. She’s talented, intelligent, not a model type figure however she is beautiful inside and out, but she has her flaws and insecurities. All these particulars make her identifiable with the reader. Don’t want to give any spoilers so to see what I’m referring to you’ll need to rely on the blurbs and read the book. Gabe is an enigma at times, but he is also loyal and someone who would go the distance to aid Angel no matter what the circumstance. He’s also dreamy and he’s quite charming in a sardonic way but can be extremely sweet. There’s a history with him and Angel and a mystery to their former relationship. Again, no spoilers! However, I will say I loved Jolene and Greta. They’re a hoot. There is another character, Regina, who drove me crazy with her antics and at times I also wanted to throttle Angel. She frustrated me. Aren’t there times when you want to scream at your friends, relatives and say, “ Just stop”? That’s what makes this real. Like I referred to earlier there are situations in this book that people face everyday. There is also an element of crime that I believe does happen in a way the author wrote it. It’s my belief in this event fiction very much mirrors fact. It looks like this book is going to be a series so I’m very interested to see what comes next.
I don't even know where to begin to explain or what words to use to describe just how much I loved this book. This is my third read by this author and there is no doubt this is my absolute favorite, as a matter of fact this might be my favorite so far this year, or at least it's right there with my favorites. This was so unlike anything I've read in a long time, or not so much unlike anything I've read but written in a way that made it stand out among the rest.
I saved a spot in the book that I was going to add to this review but decided not to because it is absolutely the funniest scene I have ever read...I couldn't even see through the tears I had from laughing so hard and Im afraid putting it in this review would ruin it for others who will read this book, and I hope everyone does read it!
I'm not even going to try to sum up what happened with this storyline, her synopsis does that just fine, it's how it all happened and played out that made this the incredible book that it is. Gabe and Angel are awesome characters, I loved them both equally and all I can hope is that since this is book 1 of a series that these two get to play a part in any coming books. It was awesome seeing Regina and Beck in this story, it took me a minute to put two and two together since I read Permanence of Pain many books ago but it didn't take long. I recommend reading Permanence of Pain before this one, but that's just my opinion, for what it's worth.
This was a serious at times, romantic at times, so sad at times, and laugh out loud funny at many times kind of book. It seriously has it all and is written so beautifully. I can not wait for more from this author...She is Amazing!!
Angel has seen something she shouldn’t have and now she is in danger. She decides to go to Gabe for help, an old friend she hasn’t seen in 15 years. Gabe was her best friend in school and she had the biggest crush on him. Something happened that caused some hardship between them but Gabe has certain talents that Angel needs right now to stay safe.
Gabe is surprised to see Angel, why after all these years would she come to him for help? Angel ends up in a great scene with Gabe’s secretary which had me LOL, you go girl. She ends up leaving without even talking to Gabe about why she’s there, Gabe catches up to her on the sidewalk. Before he can find out what's going on Angel is taken.
Gabe discovers who has Angel and it’s not good. He is one of the most dangerous men Gabe knows. Will Gabe be able to get Angel back? Why was she taken? Can they work out their past and have a future?
I loved Angel, she is a feisty and strong willed woman who knows how to stand up for herself and fight back. She had me LOL at times. Gabe joined the military and is ex special ops who is now running not only his family business but his own as well. The story is told in dual POV. This is my first read from Desiree Lafawn and I was pulled right in and couldn’t stop until I was done. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. I highly recommend this book, you will get pulled right in.
WOW! Gabe by Desiree Lafawn is the one of the best stories I have read in a long time! This book has it all…suspense, crime, passion, history, comedy and the best of all love and friendship. Angel Jax and Gabriel Anderson were the very best of friends growing up until something happens that tears them apart and Gabe ends up going into the Army after high school. Fast forward 15 years and they haven’t spoken but Angel ends up in a pickle of sorts, sees something that she shouldn’t have and runs to Gabe for help when the bad guys come after her. In the process, Angel gets kidnapped leaving Gabe to find and rescue her. Once he finds her and pays her kidnappers off…he starts to develop strange feelings for her. Before he can do that he needs answers as to why she stopped speaking to him. It isn’t until he reads the books she has written when he finds his answers. I loved these two together. This love story in this book seems so completely real. I can definitely see two people who were best friends falling in love with each other years down the road. The sexy scenes in this book are so incredibly hot and spicy! Just enough detail to imagine everything that’s happening. I loved the supporting characters in this book! They really do help with the story line and a few of them are simply hysterical! I hope there are continuing books in this series! I’m excited to see what the author has in store next!
Gabe by Desiree Lafawn is the first book in her Glass City Hearts series. Having read other books by this author I was excited to delve into this series.
Angel lives a quiet life. Tucked away in a retirement community she is perfectly content to write her novels. And she certainly doesn’t expect to find herself in the middle of a dispute involving crime bosses. And yet that is the exact situation she finds herself. Knowing she needs help to protect herself Angel seeks out the one person she never wanted to see again. The person who broke her heart without ever having realised what he had done. Gabe hasn’t seen Angel in years. So when she turns up at his office unexpectedly surprised isn’t quite the word. Even more shocking is the fact that she is abducted right in front of him. Despite the years between them Gabe will do everything he can to get her back - even if it is just to get the answers he has been after for all this time. With everything on the line can Gabe and Angel put the past behind them in order to fight for their future?
I have enjoyed all the work that I have read by this author and this book is no exception. It was engaging and funny. It kept me interested all the way through and wanting to know what happens next. The characters were so well suited that you could feel the chemistry between them. Another fantastic read from Desiree Lafawn.
Gabe: Glass City Hearts Book One by Desiree Lafawn is an extremely fantastic 5-star romance. There is love, friendship, and crime, and all of them put together make for a really great story.
Angel seems like such a sweet woman, who maybe had some confidence and self-esteem issues growing up. I like how she has grown up stronger and is more confident in herself and her abilities. When she meets up with her best friend from high school, Gabe, it brings back old feelings and memories for her. I like how she feels like she is strong enough to protect herself but, it is best for her to just give into Gabe.
Gabe is great. He knows that something is still lingering in Angel’s head and heart from when they were kids but, can never get her to open up about it. When he saves her from impending danger from a well-known crime boss, he decides then that he will not leave her anymore. He will find out what happened all those years ago so that they can be together now.
The revelations that come about in the end regarding their past really broke my heart and I could see how much pain Angel was in during high school. When Gabe learns of this, in my eyes he became even greater of a man and person than he was before.
Overall a fantastic book and very easy writing. I loved how everything flowed nicely together and can’t wait to read the next installment.
Gabe was a great story by Desiree Lafawn. It is book 1 in the Glass City Hearts series, and I cannot wait to read the next book in line. Right from the start, I knew I would love this book. The main character Angel, has so much spunk and her personality is great! I love the way it was written, in a very conversational, personable way. Gabe is a good lead as well, he is the typical bad boy, but is also caring and protective. Their sparring and chemistry was fun to read, and I definitely want to read again. There are characters from another book, the Permanence of Pain, that overlap into this book, but it by no means a sequel. Highly recommend this book. Angel Jax likes to think she has her life together, but lately, it has become a mess. She is a writer of smut romance by day, and a singer by night. Well actually, with those two jobs, she makes her own schedule, but you know what I mean. Leaving work the other night, she broke up a fight, and quickly found herself tangled with some heavy criminals. Despite her better judgement, she decides to go to her childhood best friend, Gabe, who she hasn't seen or talked to in 15 years, for help. Gabe helps her without hesitation, and their encounter has stirred up a lot of feelings and memories for them both. Its time they hash out the past, and resolve their differences.
Gabe By Desiree LaFawn 5 ‘ would give it 10 if I could’ stars This book was AMAZING!!! I loved every single second of it and it is one that I could definitely read over and over again. Gabe – OMG – he was just the most delicious character I have ever read about! I so wanted him to be real!! Even when I think about him now I want to draw little hearts around his name! He really was perfection for me. I could write about Gabe all night but that’s not fair to the author who has written a fantastic story! I loved everything about it (especially Gabe hahaha!) There is not one part of the story that I didn’t love, the beginning was exciting and had me hooked straight away. As well as Gabe, there was Angel! She was just fantastic and had me in stitches so many times! I loved where she lived – I couldn't stop laughing at some of the things she called the people she lived with. She was a feisty character and she and Gabe made the most perfect couple ever! They rubbed each other up the wrong way but the chemistry between them was electric! I honestly cannot recommend this book enough; it had everything in it that I love in a story. It more than deserves the 5 stars – I would give it more if I could.
Angel is an author and part time singer, she lives in a retirement home... despite the fact she is NOT an elderly person. She has a fantastic life, albeit a somewhat lonely one..... until suddenly, she doesn’t... she needs help fast... not knowing who to turn to she ends up on the door of a childhood friend..Gabe.
Physical and emotional distance hasn’t changed the old hurts and time hasn’t eased them like Angel believed. Gabe wants answers, answers that Angel is too scared to admit as weakly healed scars are picked free.
Fantastic and utterly gripping from the start! This book and its beautifully written charachters pulled me in and would not let go! Not that I have up much of a fight... in fact I was a willing participant!
My GAWD..this author can write a GREAT book boyfriend...and I loved the catch up with charachters from her previous book ( AHEM BECK!! AWARD AFOREMENTIONED BOOK BOYFRIEND )
Heavy on the laughs, hawt chemistry and heart kicking feels. This book is a bloody diamond of a read and I cannot wait for more in the series and more from this author!!

Desiree Lafawn has written a fast moving romance suspense novel. Not only did she hold my interest, she also hit the funny bone, I laughed so hard. The story has it all. Comedy, suspense, broken hearts and plenty of action. I can't wait for book two!
Gabe is the first book in the Glass City Hearts series by Desiree LaFawn and the second book I have had the pleasure of reading by this author. Gabe centers around Angel and her former best friend Gabe. After being inadvertently involved in a crime scene Angel goes to see Gabe, a former military man, for help dealing with her situation. After not seeing Gabe for fifteen years Angel figures she is over what had happened between them years ago. She doesn’t count on all those old feelings popping up once again. Gabe never knew why Angel walked out of his life but now that she is back he has every intention of finding out why she left and he’s not about to let her go this time. I loved this book so hard. What a great story! It had all the emotions I look for in a good book, Ms. LaFawn had me laughing out loud, sniffling and getting angry over what happened to tear these characters apart. I also enjoyed all the secondary characters especially Angel’s neighbors. My only issue was that it was over so quickly. If you are looking for an entertaining read then this is the book for you, and as an added bonus pick up The Permanence of Pain also, you won’t be disappointed.
Gabe is book one in the Glass City Hearts series. I have to say if the rest of the series is going to be as good as book one then we are in for an awesome series, already looking forward to book 2. In chapter one we meet Gabe and Angel. Gabe is an ex special ops soldier who now has his own protection and information gathering business. Angel is a writer of romance novels and will occasionally sing at her local bar. Now Angel has got herself into some trouble as she has something she shouldn’t. She also knows she needs help and the only person she can think of going to is Gabe. But as we found out there is unfinished business between them that has never been fixed. Gabe is in need for answers to this unfinished business but before this can happen Angel is snatched before his eyes. Now not only does Gabe not have the answers he needs but now he needs to find Angel. Will he find her before its too late? And will he ever get the answers he needs?
Gabe is the first book in the Glass City Hearts by Desiree Lafawn and it is a winner. Desiree has thrown everything you could want in a book and it comes together seamlessly. This story is intriguing and mysterious, sexy and hot, realistic and yet unbelievable. There is threats and crime, sleaze bags and terror, laughter and sadness but underneath it all is such sweetness it will knock you for a six.
The characters in this book are loveable and funny but Greta and Jolene are such a hoot, that you can’t help but laugh out loud with their antics and want to be their best friend. I hope we get to read more of these wonderful characters in the future.
What happens when you are in the wrong place at the wrong time? Who do you turn to when your life is in danger? What happens when you come face to face with a past that tore you to shreds? Gabe is the first book in the Glass City Hearts Series by Desiree Lafawn and what a way to start a series. I really enjoyed how the book started and how Angel and Gabe reconnected after so many years apart. Growing up as best friends you would think that they could talk about things that were bother them so it didn't cause problems. They were young and that just didn't happen. It still amazes me how something so small and innocent can cause such issues throughout you life.
Angel is amazing. She has a great heart and doesn't want to see anything but the good in people no matter how many times that ends up biting her. It happened in high school, college and in every day life. Gabe seemed to always have the protector vibe, especially where Angel was concerned but when the unspeakable happens to her, he realizes the level it's at.
I have enjoyed everything I have read by Ms. Lafawn and look forward to the coming books in this series and by her. I would definitely check this book out.
Gabe is book one in the Glass City Hearts by talented author, Desiree Lafawn. I was excited to read this story, as I really enjoy how this author writes and the synopsis had me very intrigued and I just had to read it.
Gabe and Angel were a colourful and entertaining couple. They had once been besy friends, but over time went and carved out lives without each other. Angel and her quirky and hilarious elderly neighbours in the retirement village where they all reside, provide a plethora of bellyaching laughter with their crazy shennanigans. Never once was iInot glued to the pages of this story. I could not bear to put it down until I had read it all in one sitting. Gabe was the apple to Angel's pie. He was the perfect mate for her. His alpha tendancies were sizzling and arousing. His passion was palpable and their attraction was flammable. They would come together with their hearts beating as one.
Desiree Lafawn nailed it with this story. I was totally bewitched and so glad I read this story. 5 stars
Gabe (Glass City Hearts BookOne) by Desiree LaFawn is absolutely amazing. I have read this authors books before and I still love her writing style. This book is a rom-com and had me laughing from the beginning. this book had a little bit of everything in it suspense, romance, and comedy. Gabe is my new book boyfriend. He is a hot alpha male with a romantic heart. Angel festy and I want her to be my best friend. I love that she lives in a retirement community and is a romance writer. Angel needs a favor from her longtime friend Gabe but it doesn't go the right way. When Angel gets kidnapped in front of Gabe, the story picks up speed and you're in for the ride of your life. Gabe and Angel are perfect for each other. Their chemistry is off the charts. Can Gabe save angel and figure out why they didn't work in the past? I was really glad to see characters from Ms. Lefawn's other books. it was like catching up with old friends. I am on the edge of my seat waiting to read the next book in the series.
Gabe (Glass City Hearts Book 1) By Desiree Lafawn this book hooked me from the first sentence, Angel is an incredibly written character I instantly felt like I'd want her as my best friend. Angel saw something she should've stayed out of but to little to late. Now with being in a bit of trouble she turns to her old best friend Gabe. They haven't seen each other in years and now life is about to get exciting. These two have what I'd describe as a explosive relationship, the chemistry between them leaps off the pages. I love the back and forth between them. This book has plenty of steamy moments. This story while on the shorter side still packed a punch and left me feeling like I could read it over and over again. Well written storyline with a bit of suspense thrown in. You get both main characters point of view making for a well rounded story. I'm giving this story five stars and can't wait to read more!
I give 5 stars to Gabe (Glass City Hearts Book 1) written by Desiree Lafawn.
Over the past few months I've really taken to Desiree and her style of writing, I love the humour she brings to each book even with the different characters.
Angel Jax, has what she would call a pretty good life, but she's unsure other people would agree with her, living in a retirement complex, working two jobs, but she's happy with her life.
Until on night she stumbles on a situation and all her world comes crashing down, until there is only one person she feels she can turn to, but they didn't leave things a good way 15 years ago.
Gabe Anderson never for a moment figured the person he could hear fighting with his receptionist out in the hall would be Angel Jax, but just when he hoped for all the answers from many years ago, she is ripped from him in broad daylight. Can Gabe get to her in time and finally seek the answers he wants? Can they both overcome this many years later or will this be the end!
Angel and Gabe were an interesting read. Angel gave us vulnerable and fierce. While Gabe gave us rough and intelligence. They fit each other so well. Their story was so sad. All those years lost but I looked at it as they both had growing to do. Their reunion was planned in a moment where they both needed something. Gabe was looking for that missing piece and Angel was looking for protection. The conversations between them was perfect and how I picture such a relationship. Angel's insecurities were a book of my own so I found myself on her side a lot. The way she handled the reason for the break in their friendship isn’t how I would’ve handled it but I understand cutting ties before the pain gets worse. Overall I enjoyed this story and the authors writing style. The book was interesting and held my interest from start to finish.
GABE~ GLASS CITY HEARTS BOOK ONE WRITTEN BY DESIREE LAFAWN 5 Stars
“everything turns up Jax”
My first read by Desiree was The Permanence of Pain and I knew after that book that I was adding her others to my TBR. I was not disappointed with Gabe’s story. I loved this book just as much...if not more! I have a soft spot for possible second chances...friendship...relationship...any type of second chance.
“Someone had taken something that belonged to me, and I would turn the streets upside down to find her.”
This book was filled with humor, growing pains, friendship, fear, secrets, miscommunication, hope and a pivotal moment of understanding a guys POV vs a woman’s. It’s amazing how two people can live the same experience, but experience and remember it completely different.
“As far as I knew, Gabe didn't gamble unless you counted him spending time with me. That seemed pretty risky right about now, at least to me.”
