Elliot meets again Maven. She used to be the rich girl and he used to be the poor boy who could never have her. Now things have changed. She is in his debt and he is one of the richest and most powerful men in town.
Mafia, MF, a lot kinky (cage play in the bedroom!), dark, a lot smutty.
The writing style of the author changes drastically when she writes MF in comparison to MM. Still I love both her styles.

Deliciously Dark and Intense!

“Shamefully Broken” is a deliciously dark, erotic read featuring two very complex characters with very different backgrounds and an intertwined past. When the two come together, sparks fly and Elliot’s identity as an entitled elite rapidly ends. Ellie turns to Mason in her time of need and Mason ensures she receives exactly what she needs, the path to full and total submission. Professionally written and extremely fast paced “Shamefully Broken” is both engaging and intense as well as entertaining.

Not for everyone due to domestic disciple and intense D/s themes… please heed the publisher’s warning and if you do purchase, resist passing judgement on alternative lifestyle practices by posting negative reviews.

I usually love Loki Renard books but this one wasn't for me. Elliot must submit in order to save her brother but the humiliation and abuse Mason puts her through (because that is what he wants) did not equate to a loving relationship. If Ellie had been in the lifestyle and enjoyed the kind of treatment she received from Mason, I probably would have liked it. The only tenderness I saw was Mason holding Ellie while she cried and he allowed her to sleep in his arms instead of putting in her own space.

If you want to read a great Loki story, grab one of the Dragon Bride books.

If you want an outstanding Loki story, grab The Doctor's Command or The Ward of Falkroy (more of a fantasy with a very small side of spanking)

Ummm.....I think I ended up in the wrong section LoL

OMG I rarely read books like this and I'm far from a prude I believe spanking and all that can be seriously hot BUT this authors book WOW I don't even have words for it but I'll try a couple degrading, gross, stock Holm? LOL! The book is about Ellie a.k.a Elliot who is a trust fund baby she's a brat she has always gotten what she wanted up until her drug addict brother gets in deep with the wrong people and she has to go to his old best friend for help who happens to be a filthy rich handsome guy that she had a bad experience with when she turned 18 and she swore she never would speak to again. Then when she had no other options she went to Mason to ask for his help in saving her brother, he agrees on one condition she has to submit her self to him completely! That means she will belong to him, do whatever he says whenever he says do it. So with no other options Ellie takes the deal and then finds her self stripped of all her clothes and possessions, crawling on her hands and knees, sleeping in a cage, and eating and drinking from bowls. She must obey his every command or be punished severely for her disobedience. The story line was descent but I'm sorry something's can get to the point where they're just a little too warped and twisted. Example the scene with Ellie and Mason he takes her to the bathroom to clean her off from where he had thoroughly *ahem* u know her and left his business all over her back side to dry over night made her sleep like that in her cage. After cleaning her all up he tells her to get across his lap and he pulls all these crazy looking devices out from under his sink, which turn out to be a bag and nozzle to give her an enema so she will be clean for him to ya know ugh any ways... mean while she bucks him doesn't want him to do that I mean what woman would, so not sexy!! But in the end he gives it to her and it goes on and on she ends up with a plug in for the next two days and I'm thinking to myself yeah right come on now author! This chick just probably got a bag full of saline or whatever shot in her and one round and it's all out?? HA!! I'd be on the dang toilet for the next two days! LoL I'm sorry I had to go there but it's weird crap like that gets left out and I'm the weirdo thinking what the crap??(no pun intended) anyways read at ur own risk!!

I had a really hard time with how this one played out
The premise of the story was solid and the character situations played perfectly with the tone
My problem was with the way the characters responded to/and in certain situations
I enjoy dark romances - but there has to be a trigger that begins the romance -the "relationship" felt so forced
Ellie was an absolutely spineless little twit - I had such a problem with her inner monologues - I get the justification of his actions - to a degree but she kept knocking herself down or questioning her choices - and at what point did she fall in love with Mason? No, I am not being rhetorical- that is an honest question.
As for Mason - really?
He wants Ellie -
he wants a 24/7 lifestyle with her as his pet - I get it -
What I do not get is his treatment and responses to Ellie -
Are you looking for love and a pet to care for? Or just a toy to toss around?
Because one requires a little reciprocation and care and love-
the other -
well it is just an object so you do not have to worry how you treat it - if that is what you wanted then you are doing it right
I realize I am probably alone in my feelings here - but I did not feel an emotional connection with this couple
Yes I plan on reading book two when it comes out - there is a great story here and I am hoping that the next provides a better emotional connection between the characters

Very Vanilla

It was not all that dark, very short, and not exciting enough to make up for the length. The only "punishment" was just typical spanking or light caning without much force behind it. Followed by vanilla PIV or anal sex

It's not a dark romance; Mason was kind, gentle, and reassuring more than he was aggressive. He "kidnapped" her, but it was to protect her from people trying to hurt her. And all throughout he was too soft, promising punishment but only spanking even she bit him. Spanking's nothing, literally punishment for children

And the relationship development was practically non-existent. For no reason at all, he loves her even though she had been nothing but a bitch. And she falls in love with him basically just because he's sexy and because he spanks her. All-around, it was pretty dull

I enjoy a dark connection and this one was pretty good. Of course it could have been a little longer so it could draw out the training process but I guess it was a little more shallow. I would have liked just a bit more depth, humiliation and shame ! It certainly held my interest

Overall i enjoyed the book. There were a few things that i questioned and did not like, but that’s to be expected. Mason was an excellent character. I liked the way he spoke and carried himself through the entire book. Ellie’s personality was slightly confusing. The personality she’s started with was not expected to still be present 70% into the book. I assume this happens to give mason reasons to punish her.

There were a few things that i believe could have been left out. Aiden being gay seemed so forced. There even a point where Aiden is blaming mason for making him gay. Meeting Mason’s mom felt like a filler. I believe everything in the book should have purpose, and to me it felt like the mom was there to only remind us Ellie had a crappy family. Her friends showing up to the wedding was unnecessary. From what i read, Mason and Ellie have spent about 7 months together. I’d like to know, during that time how often was she connecting with friends.

Overall i did love the book. Definitely worth the 4 stars given. The sex and punishments were written very well. Romance was nice but not cheesy which is always appreciated. Not a book a would consider reading again, but that does not take away from the amount i liked it.

OMG! Loki Renard's genius strikes again! Dark, delicious, erotic, and utterly decadent!

Elliott "Ellie" Taylor-Chapman...rich, entitled, and desperate. Her brother, Aiden, debt-ridden and drug-addled, has disappeared. She's no idea where he's gone, who's after him, or what they want. With nowhere to turn, she screws up her courage to face the one man she hates. Mason Malone, who had the audacity to spank her like the child she was on her 18th birthday, is the one man who humiliated her beyond forgiveness. But Ellie's terrified. And Mason's the only one who can help. Screwing up her courage to face him is one thing. Asking him for help? Something altogether different! Ellie thinks Mason's former friendship with her brother will help. She couldn't be more wrong!. Oh, Mason's willing to help...for a price. But it's not Ellie's money he wants. It's Ellie herself. Without that, Aiden's doomed. Does she have an alternative? Ellie soon realizes she's in so far over her head. Submit to Mason? Oh, no! Mason wants so much more than her submission. Can she do this? Ellie soon realizes she's no match for the dominant former Marine. But when Ellie's very life is at stake, she understands she has no choice. Even Mason, with all his resources, may not be able to protect Ellie, much less Aiden. As danger closes in from every direction, Mason's demands grow. Can Ellie do this? Is it worth it, even for Aiden? Can Ellie trust Mason? Will he keep his end of the bargain? And just how far will Mason go to claim Ellie's complete and total surrender? It all comes down to one thing...trust. Without that, no one will survive!

I absolutely adored this book. Ellie's a spoiled little rich girl who's desperate in so very many ways. While her brother may be her reason for approaching Mason, Ellie needs his help just as much as, if not more, than Aiden. She's headstrong, willful, entitled, and bratty. And Mason? He's as tough as nails, implacable, unmovable, and dominant to his core. With nothing in common other than Ellie's brother, these two are the proverbial immovable rock meeting the irresistible force. Yet Loki Renard has created a story filled with overwhelming domination, hesitant submission, and intricately woven suspense that's riveting, Ellie's desperate plea to Mason, her abject terror and fear of the price Mason requires for his help, fly off the page. Mason's ruthlessness, utter obsession with Ellie, and seeming indifference to Aiden make him completely unpredictable. At times, I thought I knew exactly where the story was headed. I was so very wrong. Predictable? Oh, no! Captivating? Absolutely! Loki Renard's brilliant! I wish I could give Shamefully Broken more than five stars! Congratulations, Ms. Renard! You rocked it!

One final note. Be an informed reader! This is an ADULT book. It contains explicit language, dark themes, and sexual scenes. If you don't enjoy this genre, this may not be the book for you. There are book synopses and reviews available on Goodreads and Amazon. Use these resources. DON'T LEAVE A NEGATIVE REVIEW WHEN YOU KNOW YOU WON'T ENJOY THE BOOK. It's not fair to the author. She works very hard to provide a quality work product. If you know you'll object to a book's subject matter before you buy it, you're doing yourself and the author an extreme disservice.

Thanks for reading my review and happy reading!

I love anything and everything that Loki Renard writes. The stories are always hot, the romance is always overwhelming, and the plot is always good. This one is no different.

Spoiled rich girl Elliot loves her brother Aiden, desperately. Their parents are totally hands off and have always been. They've totally washed their hands of Aiden and all his problems now and have cut him off. He's called Ellie and told her that he's in trouble. She goes to the one person who she thinks will help, his old friend Mason. She hates him though, and has gone out of her way to avoid since her 18th birthday, 7 years ago.

Mason is a self-made man. He's worked hard to get where he is and to earn all his money. When Elliot pushes her way into his office to ask for help, he makes a deal with her. He'll help get Aiden out of trouble, and in return, she'll be his. He will get to do anything and everything he wants to with her whenever he wants to. She refuses to take his deal, gets in her car and rushes home. When he calls her on the way home, she answers and tells him to get stuffed. Then she refuses to answer the phone anymore. She gets home and all of a sudden, some big scary dudes break into her apartment, looking for Aiden. In comes Mason to the rescue.

OMG, this story is hot. I mean, wow. Mason is so Dom-ly that it literally comes off my kindle in waves. I almost wanted to do what he said because he was so charismatic. However, that doesn't mean that he didn't piss me off sometimes. He really did have that Dom my way or the high way thing going on, and he really wasn't about to change anything for Ellie. But, I mostly liked him. I mostly liked Ellie too. Sometimes she was annoyingly pushy and spoiled, but she spent all her 25 years growing up treated that way with no one to tell her no. She had problems getting out of that mold, but she managed to come back from that. I would love to see more of these two because daaanng, they were so great. Can I give this more than 5 stars?

Mehhhhh ... not for me. I like BDSM, but this was just too much. It was warned that some parts might not suit some. Too true. I found the whole cage thing OTT for me.

Also, the way Mason spoke to her in front of Robert and Steve, was just not on. The way she begged for forgiveness after that made me mad.

This book started off good. I was very invested in the story and characters, but somewhere nearing the end, it got pretty boring and has the same story line I read a million times. I hate when people fall in love in less than a week, it makes it seem so unbelievable especially when one abuses the other. I barely finished it and I probably won't be reading any more books from this author.

Maybe this is just not my thing? I mean I like kinky stuff but reading about the heroin being put in a cage and being forced to eat out of a bowl like an animal was a little too much for me. Caning + enemas were just over the top. I also just didn't feel any real chemistry between the characters.

I did not like this book at all. Beating a girl with a cane, having her sleep on a mattress on the floor, sleeping in a cage, and being stripped of all dignity and humanity… i’ve read a lot of dark romances, but this was not the book for me at all!

And she ends up loving it. Ellie's brother, Aiden is hooked on drugs and does some really bad things to get the money to keep up his habit. The bad guys are after him now and if they get their hands on him, he will pay dearly. Ellie goes to the only person she knows that could help her brother, his childhood best friend Mason. Mason has worked his way to the top, a self made millionaire and is capable of helping, but he has to teach the spoiled, entitled siblings a lesson if he even considers helping them. Ellie is to pay the price for Mason's help for her brother. The terms for Mason's help is total submission from Ellie, he demands the right to take Ellie and do whatever he wants whenever he wants to and she must submit to his humiliation and sexual perversions. Neither sibling shows much appreciation for the help Mason is giving so both must be taught some humility and respect to the man that has never harmed them in any way. I enjoyed the story, plot and Ellie's experience as she learns that everything will not be handed to her simply because her family is wealthy and she was spoiled with monetary things. Mason is a tough taskmaster, but he knows that any softening of the lessons he is trying to teach Ellie won't be learned unless there are punishments for bad behavior.
I love Mason, he was stern and unfeeling at times (it seems) but he really had the right idea about how to get through to the spoiled, rich siblings.
There is a HEA in the end, so that made me very happy.

Loved this sinfully dark romance.

Elliot (Ellie) is a spoiled brat and is always looking down her nose at people she feels are beneath her. Mason used to be her brother's best friend, but they seemed to have lost touch with each other after college. Ellie has always hated Mason ever since the unthinkable thing he did to her on her eighteenth birthday. Unfortunately Ellie is in desperate need of help with her brother, Aiden. Asian has found himself in the unfortunate position of being a drug addict and owing some very bad men a lot of money. Ellie must swallow her pride and ask Mason for help, because even though he used to be poor, Mason has made a name for himself and a lot of money to boot. Mason tells her the only way he'll help her brother is if she gives herself to him. By this he means, mind, body and soul to do with as he pleases wherever and whenever he pleases. At first Ellie refuses and leaves Mason's office. Soon Ellie finds herself confronted by the very men her brother owes money to and they definitely don't look up for any kind of negotiations. Mason steps in and gets them to back down and tells Ellie she must make a choice, surrender to him or he will not protect her brother. She agrees and you'll need to grab this intriguing book if you want to know what happens to Ellie. Will she be brought to heal or will she continue to be the defiant little best she's always been? Definitely a must read for all dark romance lovers out there.

I'll say it right now, this book isn't for everyone. This is really rough at times and you will flinch or gasp reading it. So be warned.

Now, on to the review. Elliot, Ellie for short, needed help with getting her brother Aiden out of trouble. The only man she knew that would help was Mason, aka Mav. He has known them all their life and was once a friend. She hated him for a silly reason. But Mason never forgot her. When he agrees to help along with a condition. That Ellie be his and do as he says. He knows that Ellie is a spoiled brat and reminds her of it. But he also know Ellie needs to be brought down to the real world. The world her parents created is all "glass."

I have to say, I agree with Mav. Ellie is a spoiled brat. She was way too full of herself. And treated people really badly. Her brother, OMG, I don't know if I would have wasted my time. He was worse then her. But I guess without the help, she would have never saw Mason again. Mason, WOW, that man is hard core. He is a major DOM. He didn't seem to hold anything back. At times I was upset with him because he let his anger get the best of him. I know Ellie was spoiled and needed to be taken down a few but WOW. I flinched a few times and even cried.

You truly out did yourself with this one Loki. I was scared of Mason at times. But he was an excellent lover and cared very deeply for Ellie.

If you have triggers absolutely do not read this book. I felt the writing in this book was lazy and used abuse instead of sane and consensual BDSM to drive the story. There is little character development and Mason is an abusive man that thinks he has to take Ellie without her consent and whip her to punish her for not acting the way he wants. I understand that it was marketed as a dark romance and dark it was, but there was no romance her. It was a forced and conditioned relationship, a true sex slave. Ellie didn’t get to make a choice her choice was forced on her. I love BDSM books and I even find a guilty thrill when reading dark romances but Mason had no redeeming qualities and his decision to take ALL of Ellie’s choices from her is not a romance, not even a dark one. I am ok with a hard ass, appearing unfeeling Dom that uses punishment, even extreme punishment to help a sub through her fears, emotions and self imposed roadblocks or the sub that escapes an abusive man/Dom to find their way in the world but that is not what this book delivered, at least to me. All I felt when reading this one was disgust not any guilty pleasure.

Parts of The book are intense and may seem unfair to women, but Elliot👸💋 did consent, although she was coerced into it.

Anyone who has read Loki Renard before knows that she doesn't just touch on the dark. Instead, she pulls you under, kicking and screaming, until you don't think you'll find your way out. She keeps you in that space long enough for you to acclimate, only to pull you out of the dark and into the blinding light. Either way, you feel like you can't catch your breath, you don't know what way is up or down, and the best part is that you don't care. All you want to do is stay immersed in the world she has created. Her stories aren't for those who prefer light, fluffy romances, cozy blankets, and smiling eyes. They are for readers who want just as much pain as pleasure, extremes in give and take, eyes that pierce your soul, and passion that will melt you to your bones. Nothing is ever as it seems, but it always gives you what you didn't know you were looking for. Without telling you what this story is about, the blurb does that just fine, these are the reasons why you should read this book. It's intense, surprising, beautiful, disturbing, and absolutely perfect!

An Entertaining Read!

Before I explain the reasons why I really liked this book, let me just say, don't be fooled by reviews that are completely exaggerated. Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but give the book a try before you make an assumption.

Now, I really found this book to be an entertaining read. I enjoy a bratty female and a headstrong male who has no problem putting her in her place and that's exactly what Mason did. Mason was never too rough or too scary, I felt like he gave her exactly what she needed and let me tell you she needed it. I've read books where the guy would have been much worse on her especially for that little tantrum, but Mason has a nice balance to him. Plus I think he's funny.

I definitely recommend so dont let comments detour you, plus its a real quick read so give it a try.

Elliot needs help. Her brother has fallen in with some bad people and she turns to an old friend Mason to help her help her brother. His payment for service? Her. He wants her to submit to him and be his pet. Ellie is not interested but when the bad guys show up at her doorstep looking for her brother she has no choice but to go with Mason. There she finds that she loves the degrading things he does to her. Can she comes to terms with her feelings? Will her brother be safe? Can she start a future with Mason?

This book was very interesting I was not sure what to expect with Mason. When he makes Ellie sleep in a cage I was quite surprised. Ellie fights him a lot and I understand why the things he wants her to do are very depraved. But she likes it she's just not able to admit it to herself at first. She cares about her brother but he kind of screws himself and her over. I'm really interested in finding out what happened to him while Ellie was with Mason. Even though Mason does these questionable things to her you can tell that he cares about her even if he derives pleasure from her submission. The ending was a lot of fun and everything gets wrapped up nicely.

A new contemporary book by Loki Renard. If you are looking for a sweet romance then this is not the book for you. It definitely has dark elements and has dubcon/noncon and humiliation scenes.

I enjoyed the book, because it two great characters. Mav is a strong dominant, who made his own way in the world and you knows just what Elliot need. Elliot is a spoilt rich girl, but she is not happy. I love how she is starting to see herself in a new light under Mav guidance.

There is great chemistry between them and they clash quite a few times which makes for some assuming scenes. It is also scorching.

I received this book from Stormy Night Publications as an advance review copy

Good quick read

I liked this book. The author is new to me. I thought the writing style was a little juvenile. I absolutely couldn’t stand Elliot for most of the book but I think that was the point.

There was one thing that annoyed me even though it was really insignificant. In the very beginning, Elliot was described as driving a 911. Later in the day when Mason comes to her home she says his Maserati makes her Audi look as sexy as a bus. European cars are literally my life. Did she have a Porsche or an Audi? Petty? Yes. Oh well. I’ll probably read other works by this author.

The author clearly states that this is a dark romance and she is not mistaken. I thought maybe he misinterpreted some of her actions and that is why he treats her as he does. I think she was overwhelmed by her attraction to him which provides him with enough data to make the wrong conclusion, because for a smart man, I think he read her wrong. I loved this story and thought the author did a tremendous job of making the reader feel her emotions as we read each scene. This was a very steamy read with exciting characters and a great storyline. If you like Jennifer Bene, Dani Rene, and Addison Cain, you will definitely enjoy this book.

Ellie and Mason have known each other since they were kids, so there’s a lot of raging emotions and some love complicating the situation right from the start. That’s one of the things that I like about this story—they have a history. Their feelings aren’t from Insta-love but, instead, they're rooted in their childhood, creating strong urges and desires. And that means Mason doesn’t just want to make her submit body and mind—he wants her heart as well.

Ellie is a little spoiled, but she’s not a horrible person or completely uncaring about other people’s feelings. She makes some bad decisions but isn’t TSTL (Too Stupid To Live). Her brother’s a different story. He gets his own book with his own hot, dominant captor—times two.

You get both sides of this kind of relationship--the hot and heavy dominance and punishment theme but with the love and caring that makes it feel like something that can last.
