MICHAEL; a man serving a self-sentence of isolation within what little remains of society following THE FALL, is forced from the safety of his haven into the dangerous new world. A chance encounter with a young girl, RACHEL, gives Michael a glimpse of hope and a new purpose moving forward through the wastelands. On the road they face all kinds of danger; hulking mutant monstrosities; shambling ghouls and the most dangerous enemy of all; mankind.
The Wanderer Chronicles follows the struggles of Michael and Rachel as they adapt to survive within the hostile new world and the bonds they form and break whilst on the road. Will their experiences be enough to see them through or will they ultimately succumb in a world where hope is so easily thrown away.
Peter D. Richardson was born in 1992 in the Industrial Steel Town of Scunthorpe, England. Inspired at an early age to embrace creativity, Peter had a true passion for art, which later transferred over to the page where he has pursued a career as a screenwriter. It wasn't until his years at University that his passion truly flourished with his tutors and colleagues helping him to cultivate a back catalogue of screenplays and future projects. Since graduating he has released his first book, "The Wanderer Chronicles: Volume One" which is the first in a series of dystopian tales from beyond the end of society.
Survivors in a bleak world with all odds against them. A perilous story that keeps you tense to the very end. It was so grim, but you have to admire the grit, courage and determination the main characters displayed. I highly recommend to those who enjoy a good apocalyptic thriller. This one was very well done!
A great debut book! Full of heart and humanity, you can tell the author is passionate about his craft. I very much enjoyed learning about the world these characters had found themselves in and I hope one day their stories will be continued! A quick read I definitely recommend!
A dystopian science fiction journey to preserve life awaits you in this cleverly written story. Looking forward to the sequel! A must-read if you like Walking Dead and Hunger Games combined.
Such a well written perspective on what life might actually be like in a post apocalyptic world. Honestly, what I enjoyed most was the raw reality of the struggles the characters went through. Everything was hard for them, and everything would be hard for them in such an existence. It’s also beautiful how you see the occasional flashbacks for the characters to their lives before the apocalypse. It feels like dream sequences by comparison to their lives now, even though they were simple lives. My favorite thing was his portrayal of the positive side of the human spirit. It was all so bleak, but they never stopped trying. Loved it.
I was pleasantly surprised whilst reading this book as it isn't something that I would normally pick up, but in very glad that I did. Because of this, reading this book was very enlightening. I could visualise all that was happening throughout in my mind, with it all being described in such a captivating way. Once I picked it up, I couldn't put it down. I felt thoroughly attached to the characters within, and by the end I felt like I'd been on the journey with them. I'm looking forward to being able to pick up the sequel as soon as it is released.
The debut novel from Peter D. Richardson is a tale of survival in a bleak and hopeless world with potential friends and foe behind every corner. The relationship between the two main characters is intriguing and charming. The cast of characters range from sweet, to downright haunting. This isn't my usual style of novel, but i'm very glad I gave it a go, the characters, the settings and the tale of an underdog trapped in a world determined to end him kept me intrigued until the end. Looking forward to more from the author.
This book grips you from the start. It gave me "The Road" and "28 Days Later" vibes. (Also, if you're a video game fan, you can add "The Last of Us" to that list.) You will fall in love with the tight cast of unique characters, and the book will keep you in constant suspense on the edge of your seat. There is peril all around and throughout every chapter. The danger keeps escalating to a fever pitch and leaves you dying for the sequel to be out already. Well done, Peter Richardson.
Awesome post apocalyptic tale! It doesn’t quite fit into the standard “world’s over everything is terrible” block. It’s almost like Fallout in its world, and the story carries along great. There is a bit of a cliff hanger at the end that left me wanting to read the sequel.
