Killer of Kings #5

Claiming His Prize

Rate this book
He never planned to take her...

There was something about the waitress with the black eye. She made him remember where he came from, and he knew he couldn't stand back and do nothing. Chains kidnapped her, locked her away for her own damn good. He killed the bastard who left his mark on her. Now he has to face judgement for claiming his prize.

He stole her in the dead of night...

It had been a rough shift at the diner, but the man sitting quietly at the back made Lori feel special. He ordered the pie, made her smile, then walked out of her life. She never expected to see him again, but he came back to take what was his. Chains made her feel valuable despite the chains, loved even though she was his captive. When she's given the chance to run, she can't. He's taken over her body and mind, and she wants more. If only she could save him from what was coming ... because some sins can't go unpunished.

Sam Crescent is passionate about fiction. She loves a good erotic romance and so it only made sense for her to spread her wings and start writing. She began writing in 2009 and finally got that first acceptance in 2011 by Total-E-Bound.
She loved creating new characters and delving into the worlds that she creates. When she’s not panicking about a story or arguing with a character, she can be found in her kitchen creating all kinds of havoc. Like her stories the creations in the kitchen can be just as dubious but sometimes things turn out great.

Quick, enjoyable read! I was a little grossed out the hero used street walking whores to get off. No idea why that bothered me more than the fact he killed people for a living, but c'est la vie! *lol*

Another great story for this series.
Chain and Lori were weird. I don't mean 'weird' in a bad way. Probably more correctly to say would be, that they both were lost. Because of their childhood. Because what kind of life they had. Because they felt empty.
I had no issues with Chain kidnapping Lori. He saw something that could light his dark life and he took her. He knew her just few hours and already he killed for her. Maybe that's why chaining her in his basement didn't bothered me at all. Because he, a person she just meet, cared for her more then her own family did.
And maybe they both were 'weird' after all. Because it's not traditional how theirs story started. But it worked for them and that's what's important in the end.

Normally, I’d scoff at that because let’s face it good guys don’t kidnap girls but like Lori I believed him. He has a way about him that’s almost tender. There’s something about his dominance that’s both gentle and yet scary but also hot. Seriously, he’s the perfect blend of bad boy and attentive lover. Lori is interested and scared and intrigued and scared again. It just works so well for this story. And that first sex scene. Holy &$*^! It is so hot I almost expect to see my ereader smoking. (My husband wants to say thanks to the authors by the way. This book got me so hot and bother that he benefited, lol) http://thetbrpile.weebly.com/reviews/...

FUUUEGGGOOOOO!!!!

This was awesome! A hard as nails hitman falls for a beaten down waitress! He takes what he wants and he wants her, so he kidnaps her! God, i love a hero who doesnt pussyfoot around! Its her goodness and lightness that brings out the last few drops of his humanity.

This was steaming hot, filled with lots of feelz and spice! And THANKFULLY, NO. FADE. TO. BLACK for their first time together! I dont know what has happened to this author, but her more recent books dont measure up to these older ones, not when it comes to the emotional impact or the smexy times! Its like shes lost her touch and it was reading this older book that makes the contrast between the newer ones seem so stark.

I wish she’d go back to writing books like this again.

Safe-ish. Heros past is mentioned, no relationships, just using skanks to relieve his balls into. Heroine is a virgin and belongs only to her hero. No ow/om, no cheating or sharing. Possible triggers: kidnapping, heroine was physically assaulted by another man, on page violence and murder. HEA but no epilogue and no babies, which was a let down

The couple: Chains and Lori

Romance genre: hitman; insta-love
Part of a series: Yes (Killer of Kings)
Length: 153 pages

Plot: Lori Dean is a waitress with terrible parents and feels responsible for her 9 or 10 siblings. She's only 18 but takes care of them financially because she knows her parents won't, just like they didn't for her. (Side note: I had a friend in high school named Lori Dean, so this was a little weird. She did not, so far as I know, end up with a hitman kidnapping her.) One night at the diner, she meets an intriguing man - he's handsome but scarily in charge, and he's kind to her, most of all. After he leaves, and she goes outside to dump the trash, she's kidnapped. When she wakes up, she's in diner guy's basement! Turns out that diner guy - Chains - wants to save her from her life and keep her as his reward. He's a brutal hitman who lived through an even more brutal childhood. Will Lori give in and give them both the love they deserve?

Character development: Chains was incredibly endearing. I loved him for Lori; she needed someone to affirm her value past the money she handed over, and she needed someone to take care of her - Chains fit the bill. By the same token, Chins needed someone to love him for no other reason than that they did, and Lori did that for him. They were perfect together. El Diablo was a great secondary character, and I can't wait to see Boss get his comeuppance, however it comes.

Grammar/formatting:

Would I read more from this author/in this series: Yes
Next book in the series: El Diablo

This book is delusional. This type of story needs a longer page count to make it rational, understandable, believable, acceptable. Anything, to help this story should have been added. As it stands it’s ridiculous and incomprehensible. Even with Stockholm syndrome it was absurd how the FMC fell in love. The sole premise of which was her own miserable lonely life. Her crappy life made it okay for to be kidnapped, chained in a “nice” basement, drugged on multiple occasions, as long as she was given good food regularly and told how beautiful she was. I just can’t. Smdh.

I did feel for what the author added about what being poor meant. Every person for themselves and no one really helps. That was very well put.

Other than that, good luck.

Although there were times I found this hard to follow along or redundant I did enjoy the story and that if was endearing. I enjoyed chains and Lori found each other after all they’d been through. I can’t help but wonder if Xzavier will have a story.

Chains has had it with killer kings and their last mission.. he wants to take some time have a vacation get his head together, he heads to a diner to eat and meets Lori who was abused by a pimp (not her pimp) wanting to protect this innocent woman he does what anyone does he kidnaps her lol.

Lori life has been work, taking care of her 10+ siblings and her parents taking her money for themselves, a crappy life so far.. no one cares about her that is until a hard rough charming man talks to her.. shes attracted to him but knows guys like him dont want girls like her. But how wrong is she.. Lori is his peace of heaven and he shall make sure no man, woman or animal touches his woman... even if he has to lock her in his basement.

Chains and lori had a great relationship even when he had her locked away.. he always made sure she was fine..

Okay this one just started off weird, lol

This book started off exactly where the previous one ended. Chains is feeling a bit out of sync. And he thinks he needs a bit of break from the hint man gig. And seriously what is with all these men suddenly finding women and being in love. So he goes to a dinner and he meets Lori. Few minutes ago he was anti-relationships/anti anything permanent. But when he meets Lori its like he finds his other half. And immediately he knows that she needs him, she needs him to take care of her. As she is the one who always takes care of everyone else.
So what does he do??? No he doesn't ask her out, he kidnaps her. LoL

When Lori wakes up she can't believe this happens to her. But she can't deny that she is attracted to Chains, and he is the only one who has ever paid attention to her and the only one who wants to take care of her for a change. But is this right, how will this work, seriously how does a relationship start where you actually get kidnapped and kept in his basement.

For Chains Lori awakes this need in him to be protective of her and for Lori she finally feels like someone actually cares about her. But will this be enough for them, or is Chains world too dangerous to live in

Sweet, sexy, hot and a bit of dangerous. What more do you need?

Chains and Lori

I love the concept of this book. Chains, a hardened contract killer decides to kidnap a waitress named Lori, whom he met in a diner one night. He was intrigued by her. He wanted to know who hurt her. He wanted to help her. Most of all he suffered from a severe case of Insta love. He wanted her from the first moment he saw her. He never wanted anything for himself but she was it for him. Lori needed his love and care. Chains never forced her choice. After so much time had passed even Lori herself wondered why Chains didn't push for sex. She wanted him and was an untried virgin. This is the third book I've read in this series and each plot gets better. I like that the author recognizes that plus size women are sexy too. Not all women are skinny. I must say thank you for that. Most books these days are filled with flat and skinny females. No curves in sight. Or authors write about one sided passion, the female character has to be coaxed and convinced into claiming and taking her orgasm. This is different for that reason alone. Lori told her lover that she wanted him, and oh man did Chains give her the business!!!

Chain liked being alone. Well he though he did till he saw Wiper, Killian, Shadow, and Bain having women of their own. That couldn’t be for him, right? Till he saw her. Lori was just getting by. She took care of her siblings and just made enough to breath. But she was living in the worst neighborhood. She didn’t expect a handsome man in a suit to take her and take care of her. He wasn’t tattooed or scary but he had a presence about him. When Chain takes her and tells her he wants to care for her, she doesn’t know what to think. Is he a bad man? Nope. None of our guys from Killer of Kings is bad. Maybe scary and brutal but they would never hurt that one woman that drew them in. Chain’s sees the lost soul in Lori. She is beautiful and needs to live life and not squander it. He wants to show her her worth. Of course nothing is that easy. There is always someone wanting to take that away from him. With him having to lure El Diablo into the fold of the Killer of Kings and trying to protect Lori, he has his work cut out for him. His past is a major issue that he needs to settle.

Chains and Lori

Two broken souls in need of each other. Chains works for Killer Of Kings. When Chains sees Lori, the waitress, something in him just snaps. Lori comes to realize that she and Chains need each. Chains already knows that he and Lori belong together. With Boss and the rest of The Killer of Kings, life for Lori and Chains gets real interesting! A very good book and an amazing story in the series. This book can be read as a standalone but the entire series is fantastic!

I've read the other ones in this series and this is not the best, but it's also not the worst. The main characters are sweet and this is a good hitman romance, quick, a little action, and excellent sex scenes. But the plot had some wild jumps in logic and I felt a lack of depth that I know this great duo are capable of. Give my full review a read at https://theresidentromantic.wordpress...

Quick,sweet read

I enjoyed this book although there was a kidnapping in this story (although there was in a couple of the others in this series too) I found this one to be a little bit sweeter. Chains waited 2 weeks before anything happened so he showed respect unlike the others, he also was genuinely caring from the start. One thing I cannot wait for is boss's book, I'm looking forward to the day he gets his comeuppance and for him to have a 'weakness' put at risk:).

Not my typical read But Couldn't Put It Down!

"Do You Know Who The Fuck I Am?"said Chains..... I rose out of my seat when I read that part shouting like I was watching a good part in a movie! Actually several times I got of my seat while reading, clapped, shouted, curse and re-read parts-thats how involved this story took me on a rollar coaster. And I read this book twice already and I'm still rooting for the bad guy(s)!

Great book

Kidnap an innocent young woman, chain her in your basement, and see what happens. More murder, action, intrigue and romance, and in violence and enough twists and turns to keep your interest, and this makes for an interesting read, one you won't want to miss. I can't wait for the next installment in this series, this was a non-stop cover to cover read for me I couldn't put it down, it kept my interest right from the first chapter.

This book is kind of magical! Our hero sees her in a diner and notices her injuries inflicted by her boyfriend. He is a rough character, but would not hurt a woman and especially one as curvy as this one who has all of his attention. Chains first kills the woman's attacker and then goes about winning her love. He keeps her chained in his basement until the day someone breaks in and releases her. She has no place to go so she remains close to his house and he finds her. He tries to hide her but his boss of bosses knows where his love cabin is and sends for them. Both are afraid of being killed by the boss and she begs for Chains' life and offers her own. The boss is hard-hearted, but he is very fond of Chains. What does he do? Read the book. It is a shocker!

I loved this book. The storyline was entertaining but there were parts where I thought mmm maybe not. Chains and Lori were an interesting couple, although they both had there own demons to conquer and very different people, they seemed to fit. Opposites attract is what they say. A short story but overall an enjoyable read.

Being Loved

Lori is tired and beaten down, her life is just making her feel old. When she's taken and then shown how she should be treated by Chains she's confused. Chains only wants to protect her, take care of her and show her what its like to be loved. He never had that growing up. With one fatal mistake can he fix the problem or will he be forced to do something drastic?

Interesting storyline

This has an interesting storyline which was enough to keep me reading, but I didn't feel the story. I couldn't get into the characters head as the book was written more in "tell" mode and I just couldn't feel it. It's short and felt rushed when it could have been so much more.

I didn't feel the characters were very developed and that the dialogue was almost cookie cutter. I normally don't post mediocre reviews but this was just not a great story. Wouldn't buy it again.

Good

Another great story about one of the men who make up Killer of Kings. Sam didn't disappoint. Chains and Lori's romance start off unconventional but love conquers all, the are well matched.
